The young waitress who served me was very helpful and polite. Made sure my iced tea was filled. Came by to check in, but I never felt like she was "overdoing it". The side salad was simple, but done well. The fresh onion rings, along with the cucumber and tomatoes slices are more than some restaurants do. The ranch wasn't cheap bottled stuff. The hamburger steak was seasoned nicely enough and cooked medium well, just as the menu said it would. Where Marlin's can improve is their condiment selection. Vinaigrette was not an option--I thought it was fairly common these days. Oil and vinegar didn't seem to be available either--I'm sure the server would have suggested that if it was. They also didn't have Worcestershire sauce available for my hamburger steak, so I had to make do with A-1. I was also disappointed in the "skillet potatoes". My fault for not asking, but I thought they would have been closer to American Fries or the "Homestyle slices" that Simply Potatoes manufacturers. These were simply a slightly larger version of the "breakfast cubes" that are found ubiquitously through every restaurant that offers breakfast. Not a fan of them, as I feel like they lack flavor and do nothing to enhance a plate, let along a person's palette. read more

Great little Truckstop!! Great food. Cheapshots sport bar and grill, has a full bar and menu.

A lot of good food for a good price. Glad I stopped here. Very nice and attentive staff as well. They don't ruin the eating experience by repeatedly checking in on you, but they do check in enough to make sure there is nothing else you need. I really liked Spezia! This location had a small diner feel, almost similar to a clean,well maintained, but seemingly a little run down, mom and pop restaurant. The food here was wonderful, had spaghetti and meatballs, and it was unlimited. Could only eat one serving but it tasted pretty good. The meatballs were home made, the spaghetti was cooked good, albeit little hard for my tastes, good nonetheless. The only downside, and this is only for my tastes, is that the meatballs contained chunks of onions. I like onion flavor but don't care for chunks of onion. This almost cost a star but I realized it's just me bring picky. Also had a slice of pie too, that was very tasty! Took pie to go and had later. Based on size of container thought was small yet slice was actually large. Was short but squat, if that makes sense. Will repeat and likely try other locations. read more

Went here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Nice place, staff was very friendly. Food was amazing. I had the steak omelet which was huge. Their omelets are served with a short stack of pancakes which are pretty huge themselves. Had a tough time finishing my food but it was so delicious that I did anyway. Would definitely go again. read more

Marlin's has been a good and reliable local greasy spoon for many years; especially very good when Marlin himself was in charge. Sadly it seems that that tradition is slipping away. There seems to be more and more shortcuts taken, including less attention on the quality, freshness and presentation of the food while prices increase. Was especially evident at the downtown Sioux Falls location before it closed and recently at the Tea location. read more

Grabbed breakfast here with my girlfriend. We live close by and used to love this place. The food is reasonably priced and the wait staff is very friendly. I ordered a small stack of pancakes with eggs over easy and bacon. The pancakes were smaller than they've ever been and very under cooked, the eggs and bacon were cold and flavorless. Which was fine, I wasn't going to complain as I was hungry. Until I got home and was immediately sick. I won't go into all of the details but I will never be eating here again. read more

This visit was on the 29th at about 4:30 p.m. LOVE LOVE LOVE the Ruben's she loves the Turkey Club. Service was excellent like always, don't remember her name,I'll call her excellent, the reason I will explain shortly. Half way through our meal 1 waiter, 1 waitress and the manager were at the cash register, this is the conversation that happened: Manager "I need a couple of hour's." Waiter "Eh give me 30 minutes and it's nap time." Waitress (not ours) "All I know is that this is the year I'm coming out." I would have complained to the manager but didn't have a couple of hour's. Because of lose of appetite the waitress (excellent) suffered in the tip. Ruben's are SO GOOD but not sure they are worth the conversation. read more

Normally Marlin's is great, today we stopped for a quick lunch. After being seated the waitress took our order and brought us our drinks. She was great, my husbands food came and at the bottom of his skillet was supposed to be chunks of fried potatoes, mushrooms and green peppers. The potatoes were not only burnt but had obviously been sitting on the grill for a long time. My chicken strips were also burnt. He mentioned this to the waitress and she rushed back to fix it. She came back saying her boss told her "they aren't burnt, they just have to cook them that way to make sure they are done". My husband said, it's not your fault but they are definitely burnt. She apologized many times but we could tell she couldn't do anything about it. The service was great, this "manager" didn't even come check on the food or anything. I come here because I really love Carmel rolls. Most of the time I only come here for the Carmel rolls unfortunately they are always out every time I come. I think I have only been here once when they actually had them. I'm beginning to think it's just a ploy to get people to come in but don't actually make them. The other food is ok... Eggs are never cooked right and they can't seem to figure out how to melt cheese all the way. I keep thinking it's gonna get better but never does :( read more

Absolutely the worse dining experience ever. I totally understand long waits and harried waitresses that had to work on one of the only restaurants open on Thanksgiving, but what happened here is beyond that. Two of our orders were completely wrong, one of which was sent back TWICE and came back both times wrong. How hard is it to make a taco salad with only meat and cheese? They also forgot numerous items on our order. The waitress comes over and asks if there is anything she could do, our reply is at this point, just chalk it up as a loss and you can forget your tip. The manager then comes out and asks what's wrong. We explain. He states he will just charge us for two of the meals and then proceeds to ask us to please never come back to this restaurant again (not that we ever would have with this level of service). So let me get this right, YOU screwed up our order, then you ask us to NEVER come back again? This is how you treat paying customers? This has to be one of our worst customer service experiences ever. read more

We went there with my sister and law and her family. So there was 8 of us. Our server had to repeat each of our orders to us, which is odd. Normally, they'd write it down and we get our food. She repeated everyone their orders. Is that because she would have messed it up without doing so? I find that just odd. Well everyone's food came 30 minutes later. Some of us said we should have ordered the breakfast buffet. But most of the food in the buffet was either low or looks like it's been sitting under the heat lamp for hours. The food itself was OK. Nothing great. But the youngest kid ordered a burger and he didn't get his. 15 minutes go by and we're all eating except for him. We ask. The server said it's on the way. 20 minutes later, still no burger. We asked to see the manager. She said she will make him a new burger. WHAT? What do you mean? What happened to the original order? Did an alien eat it? What do you mean "New burger"? Be honest with your customers. If you forgot, say you forgot. Don't tell us "It's on the way". Because you had to make a new burger, it means to me you forgot. Sure she comped us the burger. But we're sitting here waiting for the burger, then wait for the poor kid to stuff it down his throat so we can get going. I won't visit this place again. All along 90, there was at least 2-3 Marlins. Everyone laughed when we saw it. Terrible experience. read more
