If you're only going to order one thing, make it the mango coconut sago. The mango is soft and custardy and slightly tart with *just* enough coconut to round out the drink. The sago didn't add much flavor but it did make every sip feel slightly different from the last. I'm a huge durian lover so of course we had to try the durian cake. It was also my partner's first time trying durian (so fun to get a front-row seat to his first encounter)! The verdict? As expected, the durian cake was rich and custardy and funky and absolutely delicious. I'm also rly glad they didn't add extra sugar bc durian brings plenty of natural sweetness on its own. The store doesn't have the most comfortable ambiance: fluorescent light, hard furniture, and it gets pretty loud. However, the dessert is so worth it. I highly recommend the mango chewy ball dessert. Every single bite is perfection. The mango puree is refreshing and balances out the creamy ice cream. I am obsessed with the texture of the chewy balls, and the mango pieces on the top are so sweet. My greedy *ss got the Jumbo Pomelo & Mango with Sago because there was no way I was going to be content with the regular size, and frankly I could've eaten another--it was just. that. good. Love that this Hong Kong-based chain has so many locations worldwide! The strip mall this particular location is in gets super busy--the parking lot is free but good luck finding a space! We were fortunate, however, that the shop itself wasn't crowded at the time of our visit, as that's not always the case. This store usually has a long line and I was lucky enough to arrive before more business came. I love when stores have displays of their food so I know exactly what to expect. From the time I ordered to the time I received my food, only a few minutes passed. I ordered the J3, Pomelo and Mango with sago. The fresh mangoes were a perfect balance of sweet and sour. I was a bit hesitant because of the season but I was pleasantly surprised. The coconut milk balanced the mango base and the mango sorbet in the center very well. The sago added a nice texture along with the fresh mangoes. I tried the mango jelly and it was good but not as sweet as I hoped for. Still good nonetheless. Hui Lau Shan is the epitome of mango dessert, this Hong Kong dessert spot is for mango lovers and such a refreshing place to grab a sweet treat. The freshness of the mangos used here is apparent in their desserts and their stock is visibly seen by the pallet of boxes they have of fresh produce. Deliciously refreshing drinks, blended mango bowls and even mango mochi and crepe filled. I always go with the Mango Chewy Ball, though the Jumbo is great for sharing. The Mango Mochi (fresh mango encased in mochi layer) and pancakes (crepe with fresh whipped cream and choice of mango or durian) are sooo satisfyingly good. If you want something drinkable they offer tea and fruit juices as well. Price is steep, but I think the quality of dessert makes up for it. Service is good, with lines out the door they are able to churn orders out pretty fast. The interior is a bit limited in space, with a few tables indoors and some outdoors. Sometimes it's hard to snag a table, leaving you to stand around waiting for a bit. It is a bit thoughtful though as they provide wet wipes as eating here can be a bit sticky. Tried to have him stop by to grab me some dessert but he never did, then I kinda forgot about it. Until I came with my in-laws one time and finally tried their desserts. Durian Pancake: Crepe was made with pandan leaves, because there is a light aroma of it. Filling is mixed with whipped cream and durian, but my opinion is too much cream, cannot really taste durian. A bit disappointing since I'm a huge durian fan. Jumbo Mango Chewy Ball: They served with mango ice cream, but I don't taste the flavor of "mango ice cream", not creamy enough. But it is not sherbet, cannot really taste mango. Mango is not in season so it is a little sour and hard. Mango tofu tastes all right, not the best but it is refreshing. Chewy ball is actually the best of all. Mango & Coconut Juice with Crystal Jelly: The best of all orders, except the mango as the topping (Again, mango is not in season so they are sour). They used fresh coconut milk to add to the drink, so they have a very strong coconut flavor and their crystal jelly is really good. Pomelo & Mango with Sago: Drink overall is good, mango this time is sweet but pomelo is a bit sour. Mango Mochi (no photos): This is not good. Mochi itself is too hard to chew, it's not chewy, it is hard. Taste like mochi has been sitting in the fridge for too long to make it hard. Basically it doesn't taste fresh. Although the mangoes here are not as sweet, ripe, and tender as in the stores in Asia, they are decent and the rest of the dessert ingredients are high-quality. For some reason, this one taste better than the store we have in San Diego. The mango feels fresher, and the actual sago in their D3 feels fresh also. There are no major ice chunks. It was pretty crowded when I went, but I would say overall service was good and we found a table for seating. This one in particular gives wipes for cleaning the table just in case you need it. Lowkey I like this place better than the Milpitas location (*´v`*) simply because the napkins have their logo and they give you cute Hui Lau Shan mascot spoons. The place is pretty clean and each table comes with wet wipes so you can wipe off the sticky wicky leftover mango on your fingy wingies. The line on this random Tuesday at around 8pm was nonexistent so I highly recommend going on a random weekday evening because this plaza gets easily packed due to the other businesses. Even though we went when HLS wasn't that busy the parking lot was still pretty filled when we arrived. This time I got the Mango & Coconut Juice w/ Crystal Jelly. The crystal jelly itself has little to no flavor compared to the mango and coconut but I liked it because it added texture to an otherwise pretty flavorful dessert. The worker is nice and you order at cashier. I ordered ice Lemon tea snd interestingly they don't give you the receipt right away after you paid. They will give you when your order is ready. Their mango pudding is also good. The Mango ice cream is actually mango coconut ice cream. It's more like ice milk; texture is like regular ice cream mixed with sorbet. Their mochi balls are more chewy gummy vs soft stretchy kind and also not sweet. I notice that their fresh mango is sweeter in the summer time when mango is in season and less sweet in the winter time. Price starts around $8.
