Stopped by for some drinks and snacks and had a great experience. We ordered the Oolong Black Fresh Milk Tea with fenjiao (the white, agar-like boba) and the Yin Yang Boba Fresh Milk Tea. The boba had a really nice chewy texture and didn't have that plastic-like texture some places have. Same with the fenjiao, which was great to see since not many boba shops offer it. We also tried the fried veggie mix. It smelled insanely good when it came out. Thankfully it tasted just as good and was nicely seasoned. The staff were very busy but still moved things along quickly. We waited maybe 3 minutes for the drinks and about 8 minutes for the fried food. The shop has a very traditional Chinese tea house vibe, and the staff were wearing sleek Chinese-inspired uniforms with black and gold trim which added to the ambiance. Overall a really nice spot. You cannot taste the tea anymore in any of the drinks/overall just bland. I decided to try Shang Yu Lin after seeing the bogo deal they were running on Doordash for certain drinks. We chose the Signature Fresh Milk tea with drinkable mochi as the topping and enjoyed the depth in its flavor. 10% sugar might sound intimidating, but was just the right amount. They added a generous amount of mochi so it turned out to be very thick and viscous, making it difficult to sip the drink and get proportionate amounts of tea and mochi at the same time. Besides that one issue, I did enjoy the drink with mochi overall and would give this drink a 4/5. Service was quick and our order of 4 drinks was ready within about 10 minutes of ordering. There is limited seating inside, and most people tend to bring their drinks to go. I would come back to try the rest of their menu and toppings. read more

I ordered via the kiosk. The hot drinks take longer to prep, they said 10 minutes but ended up being over 20 minutes. Peach oolong milk tea: 2/5 I had a taste of it and didn't like the peach flavor. Shang Yu Lin is a famous Taiwan chain of boba stores and I'm excited that they have a location in the US! The Queen of Guava Smoothie was very refreshing and had an icy consistency. Not many stores have guava drinks, so I'm glad they do. It has green tea, soft mochi swirls, and lychee jelly. The Red Bean Mochi Fresh Milk was a fun one to try. Soft mochi was also swirled in the creamy drink. Real chunks of red bean sat at the bottom. I felt like I was both drinking and eating a dessert! The Strawberry Fresh Milk had real bits of strawberry and it wasn't too sweet. The strawberry taste really comes forward. I liked that it was made with organic milk as well. I added Lychee Coconut Jelly, which was sweet and juicy, bursting with fruitiness. Overall very flavorful drinks in huge cups. Beautifully decorated store interior with an elegant feel. I have passed by this intersection so many times and never noticed what stores were in the shopping center at the SE corner by the McDonalds. It's because they signs don't stand out and it's hard to see them from the street. I can see the sign for TeaEra while driving along Homestead, but this bubble tea shop Shang Yu Lin is not visible from either side, neither Homestead nor Stelling. I'm glad I ventured into the parking lot to get a closer look at what this corner had to offer. Saw Shang Yu Lin and decided to give them a try. They have 2 order kiosks on the right side as you walk in. I love it when these places have more than one kiosk, so there is no bottleneck when several people are waiting to order. The interface was easy to use. And it didn't take long for our drinks to be ready. We ordered a Black Tea Cloud Foam and a Roasted Guanyin Cloud Foam. It's a good thing the slapped stickers onto each cup so we could distinguish them, because they look virtually the same. But when you sip them side by side, you can easily tell which one is the Guanyin (Tieguanyin Oolong). The tea flavor definitely comes through. I was surprised that they sealed the lids on these "foam" drinks. Many other places give you a different "sipping" lid that can be easily popped on/off. It's hard to get the foam when using a straw on these sealed type lids. I usually just peel off the lid before drinking. But they certainly do make it easier to transport in your car, if you're going to take it home before drinking it. I appreciate beverage shops having a restroom for customers. Didn't have a need to use it during my visit, but I do like having that option available. Parking is really easy here, however, the paving in the parking lot makes it feel a bit "dumpy". read more

Came here with my brother, and his gf. We were craving for boba. We never tried this place so we're excited to see how it tastes. Brother's GF ordered Strawberry Milk Matcha Cloud foam. Brother ordered Signature Black Milk Tea. I ordered Roasted Guanyin Fresh Milk tea with grass jelly. We each tried each other's drinks and it was really good! I love the taste of the fresh strawberries with the Matcha. My brother's was good as well being at 100% sugar, it wasn't too bad. It wasn't very sweet, which is perfect for me. Mine is 75% sugar and it was also perfect as well. Lots of tea flavor in each of the drinks. Upon arrival we saw that there were some workers behind the counter but opted to use one of their ordering kiosks so we can look through the menu since it was our first time. They had a nice variety of drinks and snacks. Their teas are super fragrant and not too milky or dull. Get at least 50% sweetness on your drinks, it's perfect! We also got their popcorn chicken, the green beans/oyster mushrooms and a cheesecake. Both savory snacks came with lots of basil which I absolutely loved. The popcorn chicken reminded me of the OG/classic popcorn chicken, which was so delicious and nostalgic. The green beans/mushrooms were surprisingly crispy and tasty, which I think have become a favorite of mine. The cheesecake was just OK; not as creamy and smooth, but more chunky? Idk, I think I'd skip this next time, or try a different sweet treat. There is plenty of seating, and decorated very nicely as well. Tried this place for the first time a few months ago (for their August specials) and bc we were drawn by all the talk about their peanut drinks! Snacks: + Popcorn chicken: Would recommend this! They were crispy and juicy and had great flavor + Fried oyster mushroom and fried veggie mix (string beans & oyster mushroom): they are decent - can skip them imo, but I appreciate the vegetarian snack option. Peanut drinks: I wanted to see the difference between the 2 peanut drinks - super peanut milk tea and peanut butter bliss. The pb bliss was fully peanut buttery while the milk tea one had milk tea flavors in it. Loved both! Both of these drinks are veryyy thick in terms of consistency of the drink and the density of the toppings. It almost felt like they were generous with the mochi topping and the super chewy fen jiao. Got both drinks with 50% sweetness and 50% ice. The sweetness was good, but I'd recommend getting 100% ice bc the colder this drink, the better imo. We tried Shang Yu Lin for the first time a few months ago & although it's about an hour away from us, we've been making the trip solely for their popcorn chicken. We're picky about our popcorn chicken & we absolutely love theirs because it's loaded with flavors of five spice chicken seasoning along with a lot of basil! Most places that offer popcorn chicken are usually either bland, or doesn't include basil, but they make it consistency perfect here. One of their known for drinks is the peanut butter drink, but it's really heavy and a dessert itself. Tastes like you're drinking a peanut butter tang yuan (rice ball). It's worth trying at least once if you like peanut butter! My go to order is the Tie Guan Yin Milk tea or the Jasmine Milk Tea because the tea flavor is strong and not watered down. I originally came here to try their salted egg yolk dessert after seeing someone's pic on Yelp review. I'm arriving 45 mins to closing my so there's only one left and a few other desserts. I noticed next to the salted egg yolk name is "pork floss". I inquire with the innocent cashier with black shoulder length hair. It sounded like she was annoyed at first because I'm Asian as well and fluent in English. Her colleagues all looked up as soon as I started speaking? Anyway, the girl I asked sharply responded that there's pork in the cake or crumbs on top? Her initial silence and blank stare was apparent she didn't want to sell it to me. So I proceed with ordering my drink and still not convinced, asked her to detail what kind of pork did she mean was in the cake? The toppings? She wasted no time answering, " if you don't like it, don't order it". Last time I'm coming here. I advise every non Taiwanese to avoid this location like black plague. Stumbled in while waiting for my table at Siam Station next door. For my first time here, I must say the Guanyin Milk Tea (75%) was the perfect sweetness for me. I love that this place uses non-dairy creamer for many of their drinks. On Fridays they have a $5.99 popcorn chicken special and it definitely filled that immediate craving for popcorn chicken. It was tender and oozing with oil on the inside, breading could have been crispier but I'm not complaining, and the seasoning was a bit too salty for my liking but still had that nice Taiwanese popcorn chicken flavoring. For the price it's not too bad. I think I would want to try their lunch sets next time because I can see myself enjoying the chicken with rice to balance out all the flavors. The inside has two or three small tables with high chair seating so it is a bit cramped. I can't see myself meeting friends here for long but it's nice to grab a quick bite. read more

I usually order the same drinks/don't feel like trying the other drinks for other boba store, but their monthly deals are giving me excuses (opportunities) to try something new. I like it, but I'd probably vote for the oolong black milk tea if I have to choose. Their black sesame mini cake was not bad, but I would prefer it without the nuts. As for the topping. Their ying yang = regular boba + fen Jiao. They rolled out a fenjiao 2.0 this weekend. It's still good, but definitely chewier than before. I personally prefer the original one more. I was kinda bummed to find out their June special (50% off select drinks and desserts) is only on weekdays... and of course, I went on a Friday Just missed it! But honestly? Even at full price, it was totally worth it. I got the Super Peanut Milk Tea and it was love at first sip--sweet and salty in perfect balance. And it's even better with drinkable mochi and Feng Qiao (tapioca cube) topping that comes with it. Feng qiao is more QQ than regular boba, making it feel like a dessert (think Meet Fresh) and drink in one. The Go Go Mango was another surprise hit! Thought it came with mango chunks based on the photo, but it actually had mango crystal boba--and not just a few, like a lot. Super refreshing and fun! We also tried the pork floss salted egg yolk cake. I wasn't crazy about the combo, but the kiddos loved it. I'm betting the black sesame one would be more my style next time. Already told all my gym buddies to swing by next week (on a weekday this time) to take advantage of the June deal. Waiting for our table at Siam Station next door, we took shelter from the brutal late afternoon sun by slipping into this boba shop. We bought drinks so we could sit in the glorious AC without guilt. I ordered the Yin Yang Boba, one of their top 6. With roasted guan yin tea as the base, I expected depth, but it tasted like sweet diluted milk. I got 50 percent sugar with light ice, but still no tea flavor. Boba was a bit too smushy for my taste. Solid 2 out of 5. My husband went for a wild card called Super Peanuts. One sip was enough for me. It was like drinking watered-down peanut butter. He thought it was unique and gave it 3.5 out of 5. The space is clean, the AC is cranked, and there are a few tall tables and stools for customers. Bonus points for that.
