Egg Drop soup (super yellow and super bland)
    Sonia S.

Came here after seeing all the rave reviews on the Best of Olympia Facebook page. Giving things a little time to improve and settle down. We were greeted and placed our order. We were asked if we wanted to dine in, or take it to go. We opted to dine in. From the table we saw the soup being ladled into a plastic to go bowl. When brought to the table, the soup was super yellow indicative of food coloring. We were also given napkins, plasticware, and packets of condiments as well as our spring rolls. The egg drop soup was extremely bland. Tasing of straight eggs and nothing else. The spring rolls were COLD. Our food came out quickly--as the place was not busy at all. Entrees were just okay. For people to be saying this is the best Chinese style food around is concerning. Please stop serving dine-in orders in to go containers. Just seems weird and wasteful. I would love to say that I would come back and try some other dishes--but, I don't think we will. There are some teriyaki spots around that do better Chinese style food than this. We were definitely not impressed.

My tofu curry was a pile of peppers, onions, carrots and tofu in at least a cup of oil. I Couldn't stomach it was so greasy. Eaten here once before about a year ago. Maybe this was a one off and unusual but all I know isI am still hungry and I paid $21 for a meal that I couldn't eat.

Special lunch of Garlic Beef with fried rice.

Tried Yummy Panda in Lacey today. Made an online order for 1 lunch special and some chicken potstickers which we picked up. Food was ready on-time. We split this for lunch and each had a full plate of garlic beef and fried rice. It came with soup and an egg roll. Very generous serving, reasonably priced, and so delicious. Inside dining is available in a small dining area, but it's nice and clean if you want to eat there.

hopped on Yelp in search of good Chinese food, and Yummy Panda caught my eye. Parking was easy with plenty of available spots, which was a great start. Inside, seating is limited, but most customers seemed to be picking up takeout anyway. The service was excellent, friendly, courteous, and very attentive. The restaurant itself was spotless and clearly well cared for. I ordered the chicken dumplings, chicken lo mein, and a Coke. The fountain drink was refreshingly crisp. The dumplings were decent, definitely heavy on the cabbage, but the flavorful dipping sauce helped balance it out. I didn't get much chicken flavor, though. The chicken lo mein, on the other hand, was excellent. It was generously portioned, packed with flavor, and loaded with big chunks of chicken. The total came out to around $30, which felt a bit pricey for a solo meal, but the large serving sizes helped justify the cost.

Eggplant in Garlic Sauce and Vegetable Spring Rolls
    W P.

Yummy Panda serves quality chinese food in Lacey. Some of the best Eggplant (in Garlic Sauce) that I've had. Shrimp Fried Rice is solid. Vegetable spring rolls were good but nothing special. Seasoning and flavor on both dishes is right where it needs to be for my taste buds. I would order both the Eggplant and Fried Rice again but am looking forward to trying other shrimp and veggie dishes on their menu. Pro-tip: Do yourselves a favor and order online and give them about 40-50min to fill the order if you are ordering during the dinner rush. This is a family run business with everything made to order who are just getting started and need time to adjust, so they get a pass for now on the customer experience side of things. Like others, I saw in The Olympian that a new Chinese restaurant had opened and had to try it out in hopes of having a good and reliable go-to Chinese Restaurant in Lacey. I made my order online and noticed that the pick-up time was the same time that I made the order which is not accurate. After reading all the initial reviews about wait times, I waited about 20min before I headed over. Once it was all said and done, my order was ready after waiting another 30 min. Despite the counter staff rushing around, they were both kind and apologetic. If anyone has worked food service, we've all been there when everything is new and the customer to staff ratio isn't quite dialed in yet. In the end, the food was worth the wait and I am grateful to have this restaurant in our community. Recommendation to the business owner: Enable the feature of your online ordering system to reflect a more accurate estimated pick-up time (ex. 45min-60min from time of order) as well as push notifications (i.e. texting) when the order is ready for pick-up. This will greatly improve the customer experience and reduce the stress on your customer facing staff.

Yummy food but oh so pricey! I ordered takeout through the…read morephone for my first visit because I was interested in the lunch specials that were offered. Unfortunately, I was looking at an outdated menu on Yelp, so the spicy tofu soup is no longer on the lunch specials, AND if you want a "lunch special," it needs to be specified when placing the order. I assumed that because it was lunch time, I would be paying the lunch pricing? That wasn't the case when I arrived. Parking seems to only be on the same side as the barber shop (which i think is connected to the restaurant as well?). When I walked in, I didn't really check out the place. Seems like a classic no-frills Korean restaurant. An ajumma (아줌마) appeared at the register after a couple seconds (lol that is the first description that came to mind). I informed her of my phone order and she brought out the food and rang me up for around $55? I was thinking, yikes, that's a steep price for a spicy tofu soup and a lunch special of the galbi and mentioned it to her. She told me that the portion made is not the lunch special and next time, make sure to specify that over the phone if I want the Lunch special or dinner portion. She clarified, while acting out the mannerisms, of customers that would complain about the Lunch special, because they would want a dinner portion instead, so she just places general orders as the dinner portion. (I can already imagine the Karens she must have received for her reaction, which is understandable, but at the time, I was just slightly irritated since I was hoping to pay a cheaper price.) I am assuming after this experience, there is a difference in portion size for the lunch and dinner pricing.. Besides the miscommunication, I can at least say that the food was prepared quickly since it was ready by the time I arrived at the restaurant (about 15 mins after I placed the order?). With the outcast weather, I was craving some soondubu, and Seoul Garden definitely delivered! The tofu portions were generous and the broth was the right amount of spicy where you can taste the flavor but it is not overwhelming. I was not expecting so many complementary sides either! They paired very well with the rice and galbi, which was thoroughly marinated in a delectable glaze. Even though I was initially frustrated that I received the dinner portion, I calmed down after eating the galbi. My son and I actually ended up devouring it.. the food was so good, I totally forgot about the pricing at the moment. Just keep in mind though, this place is not advertised as KBBQ, so you're paying for individual plates/dishes/orders that should already be cooked. I would only recommend this restaurant if there are certain staples you really enjoy (i.e. you're only craving bulgogi but don't want to go out to eat or grill it), because it is arguably just as expensive as KBBQ. But if you're a foodie that can afford it, I'd suggest stopping by to try it out yourself! :)

I'm not impressed…read more Because I got hustled out of the restaurant before closing time and while I was still eating! And I don't mean that the waitress just brought my check quickly, although she did do that, too. She actually asked me to leave, "So I can go home." It was still 35 minutes before closing time when I got back into my car after packing up most of my food. (8:25 pm. They close at 9.) Which packing I did by myself. She didn't help. She hovered there at my table while I worked, immediately grabbing every dish as I emptied it. It made me so nervous that I accidentally knocked the filled to-go-box off the table while reaching for another plate of food. The box fell upside-down, spilling the still very hot food all over my lap and the floor. So I lost half of my food. And got my blouse, pants, and jacket dirty. And the wasted food was somewhat expensive for a simple Mom-and-Pop kind of place. $20 for one item plus extra for the can of Coke. I do get that all those different vegetables prepared in different ways are a lot of work. I wouldn't have minded the price if the service had been decent and if I actually got to eat all of the food. I'm sure she wouldn't have done that to a couple or a group. Probably not to a solo male diner either. And maybe not to an Asian-looking solo diner (I'm Caucasian.) And I gave her a good tip, too. Before she asked me to leave, obviously. I shouldn't have signed the check before I was finished eating. Lesson learned. I was the only customer, on a Saturday night, and the only car in the customer parking lot. That was a little alarming, even more so on a dark night in a rundown part of town. Besides feeling a little unsafe, I questioned why the place was apparently so unpopular. They had no non-alcoholic drinks on the menu except for 4 or 5 basic brands and flavors of canned soda. Served right in the can with only a straw. No glass or ice. No ice in my water glass either. No tea of any kind, not even canned or bottled. She did offer coffee (which I don't like) after asking me to leave. I guess I was supposed to gulp down boiling hot coffee while I packed up my food. No desserts on the menu, either, nor was I offered any. When I later ate the food from the to-go box, there wasn't a single piece of meat in it. There wasn't much to begin with, and it all must have gone onto the floor. Good thing I don't love meat. I'm glad I made a big mess all over the floor under the table. (But I swear I didn't do it on purpose. She certainly deserved that, but I wanted that food!) The food (I had Bibimbap) was very good. I loved all the different kinds and preparations of vegetables, and the crispy rice crust at the bottom of the stone pot. It was bland though, and no salt or soy sauce was on the table. Maybe on request. I didn't ask, because the server didn't seem to speak English very well. The restaurant does have quite a few interesting kinds of soup and fried rice, as well as bulgogi, that I'd also like to try. If I come again, I'd request tea and soy sauce, and bring my own salt packets just in case. And I'd go very early in the evening. And long before dark. But I'll try K-Kitchen (another Korean restaurant nearby) first. I've never written a restaurant review before. But I joined Yelp to post this one. People considering this restaurant need to hear this story. So should the owners and managers of the place. Although I wonder if my waitress might have been the owner. Because what employee would do that? They'd lose their job! I live in a very small town in a very remote area. Going T o an interesting restaurant like this one is a rare and very special treat for me. And my money is as good, and as hard-earned, as anyone else's. I deserved better.

Reviewing for just the ramen since I haven't tried anything else on their menu…read more My son and I were craving ramen a few weeks ago and we've been trying out different ramen places to compare. We're down the street from Zen and decided to give their ramen a try. Parking is easy to locate but can be a bit crowded since it's in the same lot as Dutch Bros and a couple other shops. When we first entered, we were greeted by an employee (and the Naruto statue at the front hehe). It was fairly empty when we arrived since it was on a Friday around 4ish in the afternoon. You have to pay first when you order. You'll be provided a number placard to place at a table of your choose when you dine in, and your food will be brought to you when it is ready. Drinks are also self-serve (for soda). We decided upon water cups but it's at the same station as the sodas. There is a menu at the cash register for quick ordering if you know what you want (when you walk in, it's on the left). The employee also directed us to a menu with pictures and descriptions of each item (when you walk in, it's on the right). The place definitely has Japanese vibes for the interior decor with its oaky/wooden furniture and warm lighting. Our ramen arrived shortly after we seated ourselves. We both ordered similar spicy ramen, which ended up tasting fairly good. My son really enjoyed his ramen since he liked the level of spiciness and taste of the broth (spicy enough to taste the flavors and feel the heat but not enough to hurt). He also liked that the ingredients were balanced (not an overabundance of just ramen noodles). I did enjoy my ramen as well and shared similar views. My only criticism would be that the ramen options seemed very simplistic and many ingredients were similar, so it didn't feel like much variety. My son and I actually ordered two different kinds of ramen, believe it or not, but from the photos, they look almost identical. There's also only the option of tonkatsu or shoyu broth, regular or spicy. The soft boiled egg was delicious but it would have been nice to receive a full egg instead of just half. They are generous with their chasu portions at least, with its big slices. Not as tender compared to other places I've been to, though, but still tastes good. We enjoyed our experience here though so I can at least say that it's worth trying out the ramen. Not so sure about the sushi burritos but maybe we will consider for next time.

Just a bit frustrating since I know Doordash charges more.. I also didn't want to place the order at the restaurant because I was so hungry and wanted to grab & go :( I was really craving pho and I liked their menu, so I took the chance and ordered both a regular-sized Meatball Pho (pho bo vien) and their Pho with Steak/Flank/Tendon/Fatty, which seems to be their "pho dac viet." On their menu, the price is listed as $15.99 for a Regular size and $17.99 for a Large. I paid $17.99 for each through Doordash for the regular-size, excluding the almost $4 of tax and bag fee.. Thankfully, I live nearby, so it was just a few minutes to drive over. It's in the same busy parking lot as Safeway and McDonald's but it's more on the opposite side, so I never realized it was in the same lot. Plenty of parking, at least. When I entered, the restaurant had plenty of seating but only a few tables occupied, which made me wonder why they didn't answer their phone.. I know I'm being petty over a few dollars but I just want to get bang for my buck. The inside looked nice and cozy, and I think would be a lovely place to enjoy a bowl of pho on an outcast/rainy day otherwise (if I didn't just want to go straight home lol). I was instantly greeted by a friendly employee that asked if I had a takeout order and escorted me over to a small table, where it was already neatly bagged and ready for me to retrieve. Now, the FOOD. I will say, it was absolutely delicious! Everything was organized and packaged well, so nothing spilled on the ride home. The pho was a good temperature: hot enough to cook the steak, but not overpowering enough to burn your mouth. The regular size still provides ample portions, so both my kiddo and I ate half for lunch, and our other half for dinner. I specifically asked for no beans sprouts with my order, so I do like that they provided enough for my son while still following my instructions. I am not too picky about my pho broth, but I can at least say, the broth here was not watered down. If anything, it might pack too much flavor and might deter some customers, but for me, it was savory and divine! I still had to add my obligatory hoisin and Sriracha sauces, so it might not be the healthiest, but i don't care, I slurped up everything! I usually post images of my food on social media [stories], and actually had a friend ask what the soup was because it looks really good. Some people have a finer palette for "good" Pho but for me, pho is pho as long as it is flavorful and there's a fair amount of MEAT! They offer moderate portions here so I can't complain, and everything was satisfying enough when eaten with the broth. 4 stars because they didn't answer the phone but my son and I devoured everything, so we can at least advocate that the pho is worth it! I'd recommend trying out this restaurant at least, especially if you consider yourself a pho connoisseur (or even a newbie to pho!).
