Ask about if they have anything that isn't on the menu yet...sometimes they'll have a catch they haven't advertised! The service is always knowledgeable, friendly and on it! I'm pretty sure they have a very low turnover because I see many of the same faces every time I go, months apart since I don't live in the area. Food was ok, we ordered the lobster roll on lettuce (GF) with fries and the roasted parm oysters as an appetizer and they were all very good. The main entrees of scallops and shrimp were bland and small. I expected more from a seafood restaurant. Our waiter was great the first 10 min and then disappeared for a while - my husband was missing a spoon for his soup and waited so long and still no one to be found. He then asked two other waiters for a spoon and kept waiting, but by that time I finished my soup and gave him a spoon. My husband finished the soup and then our waiter came over with the spoon. Service could definitely improve. The spicy margaritas were overly sweet and watery, just tasted like diluted spicy honey water. Wouldn't recommended getting drinks here. Immediately noticed that the service was slow as it took our waitress a while to get our drink order. We order the gator bites and sangrias- both were great! But it was another 20 minutes before she came back to take our entree orders, which then took another 45 minutes before our food arrived. We were told multiple times we have to try Hull's. We finally did and, while it was good, it wasn't what we expected for all the recommendations. We expected to have the best seafood ever (because that's what people always told us). They do have a nice outdoor seating area (although noisy because it's adjacent to the parking lot) and great drinks. The food is basic, normal seafood. Great seafood market. We stopped in after several people recommended it. They were very knowledgeable and made some suggestions about fish that we might enjoy. We picked a dozen large scallops to grill outside in a cast iron pan. We were quite happy with both the quality of the seafood as well as the price. The Scollops were great. Huge, in fact. If I remember correctly we ended up with about 8 each, which is going to be a lot more than you would get at a restaurant and our total bill was around $30. When you consider how big these were, hands down this was. a great meal. We plan to come back to their restaurant in the next day or so.... Here I am again on my second visit. I dropped by to pick up some large shrimp... I got a pound and a quarter. Again, if my memory is correct they were about $22. I walked to the restaurant part of the business and had them boiled with Bay Seasoning for $3. That took maybe 10 minutes. They gave me shrimp cocktail sauce and some sliced lemons... While we are discussing boiled shrimp... a while ago I was told that if you get boiled or steamed shrimp to go, you should open the container and let them cool a bit as you take them with you. Otherwise they will continue to cook. If you have a large serving, they will overcook as you drive home. Regardless, the shrimp were excellent. We had a great meal. Definitely, Hulls is on our list. If you want good seafood, try it. read more

Very good seafood place. Have to give them credit for having a great outdoor area that makes you FEEL like you are at the beach even though you are surrounded by parking lot and buildings! We had a very solid and filling meal. Wife liked the clam chowder a lot. I enjoyed a crab-gumbo kind of soup. She added oysters which she said were very good, and I forget other dishes we had but we loved it all. Reasonable pricing, except I recall the beer was a bit pricey (seemed pricey almost everywhere in FL, for that matter! We were exploring the Ormond Beach area and stumbled across this hidden gem of a fish market and eatery. The entrance and parking are in the back (street parking can be a little tricky), but once you're in, you'll find a surprisingly spacious and casual spot with a great vibe. The food was excellent--fresh, flavorful, and very reasonably priced. We tried a couple of baskets and the Miss Shells oysters, which were especially delicious. We were told it was the kitchens fault but my son who operates a chain of restaurants in Savannah and is a CIA Culinary Institute of America four year graduate among his credits, Anyways he addressed the issue with management who once again deferred the problem to the kitchen yet the simplest request of crackers upon sitting down for the kids to stay quiet took multiple request before getting them. A bowl of clam chowder that should've been served before the meal was served with the meal so it was sent back and they were told to remove it from the bill upon receiving your bill. It was still there. You can't blame that on the Kitchen the order was supposed to come out with macaroni and cheese. It did not and never did come out of the party. Half the table was served first, but the party of the table that ordered steamed shrimp. It did not come out for another 20 minutes and then the types of sauces that were requested did not come out and those had to be asked for another two times My son who identified who was was who was trying to give feedback seeing if customers don't speak up you don't know what to fix was basically blown off by the server and manager. Several cardinal rules were broken on this visit with a couple being the customer is alway right and never serve half a table and then the other half 20 minutes later In closing Hulls has lost a long time regular customer who always praised the food but if you can't get proper service then there's no reason to return. read more

This is a restaurant and market. The restaurant has plenty of seating. Had the smoked fish dip, clam chowder and blackened mahi sandwich. Everything is incredibly fresh. Smoked fished dip was flavorful and good consistency. The clam chowder had lots of fresh clams but could be a bit more flavorful--I'd still recommend though. The mahi sandwich was a good portion and heavily seasoned but the bun was very run of the mill. Staff was friendly and service was quick. read more

My small salad was served as a side salad and instead of balsamic vinaigrette, they gave me soy sauce, to which I poured all over my tiny salad before tasting. Additionally, we ordered the Mahi sandwich - my husband said it was great but my piece of it was dry and over cooked. The waitress noticed my salad was not the correct size and my husband told her about the soy sauce. Thanks to our waitress, she really made this a great lunch for us but I'm sorely disappointed in the kitchen. Would I come back? Probably not. While this is a typical tourist spot, it still holds up. We visited three times during our trip to Ormond this year. They offer a wide variety of seafood on their menu. I would recommend the peel and eat steamed shrimp southern style. Make sure to get some hushpuppies, they are slightly sweet with a cornmeal base. Also if you have a sweet tooth, try the blue berry hushpuppies for dessert. The wait can be an hour plus so plan ahead! If you can select a seat, I would sit in the front room; it's much quieter. But the bar is also a great spot if you can find a couple empty stools. read more

Great service and even better food. Simple menu one for kids and one for adults. They even provided a bowl of water for my dog as we were seated outdoors. The food was fresh and hot it was very delicious. The restaurant was very comfortable with lots of outside shade and ceiling fans. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at the venue. I ordered the Cajun seafood boil with about 1.5lb of peel and eat shrimp and it came loaded with sausage, two pieces of corn on the cob, and plenty of red potatoes. The lady had the blackened red snapper with French fries and the kids had the crab cake meal with French fries, hush puppies. Service was on point and we were able to really enjoy ourselves and the meal knowing our dog was good under the table with his water bowl. We were looking for a pet friendly place and happened to notice another review that said the place was pet friendly, otherwise it would have been fast food in the car and this place was a way better option.
