This place used to be the spot before the hurricane and then the renovations. We were turned away because it was raining and they told us that they could not seat us while it was storming. Open tables with people eating inside, but as long as the storm was happening, they couldn't seat new customers. I don't know how you stay in business on the coast when you can't take new customers when it's raining! We had such fond memories of this place, but the last two visits have been horrendous! Fantastic!! The wait was about 45 minutes, but in all fairness, we had 12 people. Bartenders were on point. Food came out hot, and was really tasty. I got the SHRIMP DINNER with Cheddar Mac and cheese. My sister got a salad with lightly blackened shrimp. All in all, great experience. See pics!! read more

I do recommend this place if you're looking for an old Florida seafood restaurant on the water. The menu isn't extensive and nothing is fancy by any means but it's a local hangout with a marina attached to it. So this was an interesting experience not because of them but because of our child. We were trying this place for my birthday. We were so excited to try it. We ordered drinks and apps. That's when our son lost his cottonpicken mind. We tried to console him to no avail and the servers were super kind. I asked our server to please pack our apps to go, inhaled my drink and left. My family and I have been going to boondocks for years. I went a few days ago and the face of their business was awful. 4 younger girls NOT doing their job. When they finally acknowledged that we were waiting to be sat it was downhill from there. 3/4 girls sat at one table and talked poorly about their customers. Granted, it happens, but not in ear range of your customers. Calling someone a b!tch isn't really the best way to represent the business. I have never had an issue before and IF I return, I hope it has improved. read more

This place is tucked away on the water behind Ponce Inlet. I've been there a few times. The staff is always friendly and the place has great outdoor seating. The food is ok but nothing to go out of your way for, I usually go for the water front location. read more

Some food was good, some not so much. * Steamed shrimp was not deveined (just a heads up) and some were overdone and not edible. We mentioned it to our waitress, and she didn't even acknowledge it at all or offer a solution. * Grilled shrimp was good. * Onion rings were not good - odd taste. * Tuna dip was good. * Peanut butter pie was good. * Caramel cheesecake was not good. * Service was terrible. We went a long time with no drink refills. When our food came, it was dropped off and then we weren't checked on for a long time. We didn't get some of the things we had ordered, but we had no way to get what we needed so we just did without. Living in Central Florida gives us a chance to visit the beach often and we've found some really neat beach spots! Boondocks is definitely one of those chill spots with beachy vibe! The service has always been so friendly and efficient! The food is so delicious and they have very fresh salads and you can top them with your choice of different protiens such as fish! The food was a mix. 5* French fries were excellent. Nice and crispy but not burnt. 3.5* Seafood platter the shrimp was excellent as was the fish. The calamari was good. The oysters were ok. The clams were strips that I think were previously frozen and not very good. Tucked away on the back street of the Ponce Inlet make for easy in out with ample parking. Food was tops, priced on par with other like restaurants and above ave portions. Outside seating with an ocean breeze felt great adding to the great view of the water. Lastly the bad. Service was nonexistent from our waitress. The only blond chick there, can't remember her name, took our order and that was the last we saw of her until the end when I had to flag her down for a couple boxes. The girl at the bar stopped by a few times to check if we needed anything along with a gentleman whom I assume was the manager asked if we needed anything a couple times throughout our stay. Great casual outdoor dining! We split the large garlic bread, and got the half pound steamed shrimp, fish tacos, chicken sandwich, and 2 orders of 3 crab leg clusters. Everything was great. All of the staff worked together to help us and they were all very kind and attentive. Laid back environment, and relaxed outdoor seating. We were looking for a place to eat over the holiday weekend and Boondocks was open, had seafood, and was right on the water. It was a hot day but their seating area is shaded and there's a breeze off the water. The cocktail prices weren't bad at all, the craft beer was a bit expensive ($7.50). Our table ordered coconut shrimp, clams in the garlic and white wine sauce, steamed shrimp and chicken Alfredo. Everyone enjoyed their food and the orange marmalade with the coconut shrimp was incredible. The service was great; all the servers were your server so you never had to wait long for one to stop by. We drove about 30 minutes from Seaside to check out Boondocks in a group of 12 after falling victim to roadside billboard advertising. It wasn't my choice and, in all honesty, I expected it to be commercial, overpriced, and sub-standard. I can say humbly that I was wrong on at least 2 of those 3 adjectives (I suppose it was a bit commercial, since it had a gift shop and merch). The place, which has served the community since the 1990s according to some of the posted newspaper clippings, is casual and beachy in nature with an enormous multi-building seating plan and a nice view of the boats docked in the Halifax River. The service was awesome, and our waitress managed our large and occasionally demanding group with ease and charm. The menu is decidedly American with sandwiches, salads, burgers, etc., with an emphasis on seafood and fried stuff. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have raw oysters on offer. The Fried Seafood Combo called my name and I'm glad I listened. The shrimp and oysters were wonderful: not too greasy or overcooked, plus really nicely salted with some zesty Cajun vibes. The clam strips were just OK and I couldn't taste too much outside of salty batter. I should've gone with fried scallops! My fried okra was chewy and fine, but the green beans were actually quite good with a smoky bacon-infused flavor. The quantity was respectable, and I actually took some home so as not to overdose on saturated fat. Boondocks won't necessarily wow you from a culinary perspective, but it will exceed your expectations and makes for a really pleasant family meal. I can't say that I would drive out of my way to dine here, but you probably won't find a better road trip stop or local bite to eat if you're in the area. read more

Next we tried the Mahi tacos (12.99) comes with 2 tacos, pico and slaw that were very flavorful. We added a side of fries that were basic. Last, we had the key lime pie. I hate that it wasn't made in house but it was a decent piece of pie. I spent about $35 before tip. Overall this was a great stop and one we will make again! read more

We were informed that there would be a 55 minute wait for our party of four which was understandable since it was a Saturday night on a holiday weekend. We were given a seating alert devise and we sat on the bench provided. Everyone in our party observed people of the same number, arriving much later than us, given a devise and being seated immediately. The hostess greeted these people with familiarity so we surmised they were regular locals. One person in our party went to the bar to get us drinks while we waited but was treated in the same manner. As of the 3rd week of October, nobody was wearing a mask. Just a heads up so y'all don't come surprised like me and my friend did haha! Place is amazing. The vibe is great. The waiting area had such a lovely view even at night. The staff were super friendly, and we were frequently checked on. My piña colada arrived super quick and was LOADED! You can definitely taste the alchy in it too-- yum! I ordered a tuna melt. The tuna was cooked medium per our server's recommendation and boy it was tasty. I'm not usually a fan of rye bread, but the flavors in the sandwich worked so well together. Will be coming back as well as recommend this place to others! read more
