Clear options for gluten free (although there the potential for cross contamination due to food storage practices). Staff was understanding and changed gloves to accommodate gluten issues. I came to Olympia for a day trip, and was craving something sweet and cold since the weather was 90 degrees. So we decided on Humble cow which was really close by to where I was. Coming in I was greeted with so many different variety of flavors and there were also non dairy vegan option as well. As a lactose free person, this place was definitely a winner! I love how they have a non dairy option for strawberry ice cream. I rarely get strawberry ice cream since most places don't offer non dairy options. We visited the first time this weekend and it was super super busy. They were having some sort of sports event so there was a ton of people that said we were helped almost immediately by super friendly staff loved that we got to try the ice cream first and we weren't pressured to only try one flavor. We could try whatever we wanted. I tried the cookies and cream and the birthday cake. Both were fantastic ended up getting the birthday cake and my husband tried the peanut butter chocolate and ended up getting a pint to take home of that. I have to mention the store was incredibly clean with being how busy it was. I would expect there to just be chaos everywhere, but it was very clean. What a wonderful place to take care of that ice cream craving you might be having! We happened across Humble Cow as we were new to the area and tootling around to see what we could see. We were very fortunate to come across them. We've been there a couple of times and have not been disappointed with any of the flavors we have had. The latest was a trip down the road of Mint Chocolate Chip ... and it was an amazing journey! The ice cream itself was very creamy and had a good texture to it - not to mention the flavor! The chocolate and mint, along with the ice cream was a perfect combination. My two boys and I all had it and gobbled it ALL down! It's been a wee bit too long since our first trip there, so I can't remember the other flavors we've had, but I do know they were good and the whole family left happy and full. Personally, I'm a strict waffle cone guy and Humble Cow's did not disappoint! Thin and crisp (but somehow not too thin that they get soggy), they tasted great too. Second visit. Parking is easy and it's ten minutes from my house-closet ice cream shop to me. The ice cream is creamy. They offer samples. The flavors mentioned on social media are not advertised in the store. I'm glad I asked about the peanut butter that I had seen on instagram. I arrived with a friend around 1pm on a weekday. One other person was in there. They had country music playing and it was very loud. It was very hard to have a conversation with my friend. First visit. I've been here before with a group of people and it being busier. The loudness of the people muted the loud music but it was still chaotic and sensory overload for me. They don't have plates for the cookie sandwiches. They're messy and hard to eat for small mouths. Definitely a place to get something to-go versus eat in if you have neurodivergencies, are introverted, or struggle with sensory overload. Third visit. There was a hair in my ice cream today. It was returned and the guy working there didn't really seemed concerned and no apology. He did give a new scoop to us but it seemed like this type of thing has happened before with such little concern shown on the employee's end. read more

This is a place where the main focus is ice cream. I came in tonight to find a delightful little storefront with comfortable seating, good lighting, and friendly staff who are quite knowledgeable. I ordered a candy cane lane and my husband ordered a rocky road and mint chocolate cookie ice cream. The mint ice creams, while two different types of mint, are well balanced and it's clear that the proprietor put significant thought into mouthfeel and flavor equally. The mint chocolate has chocolate cookies in the ice cream. The rocky road was a light chocolate, unlike the overly rich and heavy chocolates that parade around the market and make you feel guilt about existing. This was just a nice light chocolate that is innocent. A decent amount of marshmallows, but oddly enough no nuts. If you're looking for a guilty pleasure that won't guilt you into the next two decades, try this place out. The pleasant calf staff are more then happy to help you find your flavor! read more

New ice cream shop in town and definitely worth a stop. I got the Cookies and Cream while mom got the Coconut Cream. Mine was great. TONS of crushed cookie bits! Ice cream tasted very fresh and high quality. I had half while driving back home and then drizzled PB on the other half when I got home which was incredible. I tried the Coconut Cream and that was really good too. The taste of coconut was satisfyingly strong which I appreciated. Now if they made a combo that used Coconut Cream ice cream with the cookie chunks, yes please! They also sell a sweet sampler where you can get 6 different flavors in this little carton to try. Might give that a go next time. But we left happy. This sweet little ice cream shop is within walking distance to my house. I love that we can walk up and have a scoop and maybe see some friends and eat delicious ice cream. I have been there numerous times since they opened. This place is popping, at all times, but the service is quick, efficient, and friendly. The interior is very clean and modern with a minimalistic ambiance. I would love to hear some music in there as sometimes it is really quiet, which is ok for an evening out with your significant other, but for the fun atmosphere that generally goes with ice cream, I think music would add to the mood. Why does it lose a star? Unfortunately, all the times I have been there (over 5 times) except once, I have gotten a pretty small scoop of ice cream. That was what really irritated me about Baskin and Robbins when they were open in Tumwater. They were so stingey with their scoops. The scoops at Humble Cow are 4.50 for a single and I definitely did not feel like there was value in what I was getting 4/5 times. The one time I did get a decent portion, I felt it was decently priced. I dunno, if this continues happening, I will probably slow my roll going here. I love that it is a local family that owns it but I also want value when spending money on discretionary food/treats. They are also out of a lot of flavors a lot of the time, but I think that is to be expected for now as they are super popular and still figuring things out being new. Came here for some creamy ice cream and they delivered. I got the flight because I wanted to try a lot of flavors. One of my son's and I got the cookies and cream, maple walnut, lemon blueberry (this was our favorite!), vanilla, rocky road, and white chocolate raspberry. My daughter got a strawberry (it had a plastic piece in it... good thing I took a bite... otherwise my 3 year old could've choked on it) husband got the rocky road fudge sundae, and my older some got the raspberry sorbet. Super cute ice cream place with indoor and outdoor seating. Generous scoops. I got a scoop of peppermint chocolate chunk (the chunk comes from slivers of brownie) and cookies and cream in a waffle cone for $7.50 which I felt was a fair price for what you get. They also sell fun merch. The store is warm and inviting, which I'm not used to at ice cream stores, so this was a great surprise on a freezing night. The Vanilla is a great base flavor with creamy consistency and vanilla bean flecks. Rocky Road's chocolate and generous portions of marshmallow & nuts. Strawberry tasted fresh with fruit chunks. The Salted Caramel is a top 3, as is the Coconut Cream. Scoops are generous size, and you can get six miniscoops in a sampler flight. A friend took me to this place and all I can say is "HOLY COW" is this place yummy. The homemade waffle cone is a must (the smell coming in will make anyone's heart happy) with literally any flavor of ice cream. You cannot go wrong. I had the lemon blueberry swirl in a waffle cone. The place is clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. There is seating inside and outside. I have to say it was SO delicious that we went back a second time. I picked up a growler and took home a pint of coconut cream and enjoyed a scoop of salty caramel. Also delicious! I like to support small businesses. We were there on opening day and super excited by how cute their shop was setup. Aesthetically, I would give them 5 stars. The environment is inviting with plenty of indoor seating. They also have cute merch and a well stocked freezer of pints to take home. The speed of service was not great, especially for the amount of employees that were just standing. We had 6 people ahead of us and we waited in line for 20 minutes before being served. There wasn't a flow. It would have been alright for a soft opening not paying customers. The staff was incredibly friendly. When it comes to the ice cream, we were disappointed. There were plenty of choices including two dairy free options. I got the peach sorbet and my brother got coconut and cherry chip in a waffle cone. The sorbet could be best described as resembling granita. It was crumbly and icy, gritty not smooth. The flavor was a bit off...like peach rings in water with a slight metal spoon aftertaste. My brother's coconut ice cream was smooth but not detectable as coconut. The cherry chip was the best out of the three. Good cherry flavor with a good about of quality chocolate. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary and nothing we would return for. The winner was the waffle cone. Light, crispy and good flavor. We probably won't be back anytime soon. Our standard for an ice cream shop is if I can get something equivalent or better at the grocery store, then it isn't worth a return trip. For this area, Sofie's Scoops is our top choice. If you don't like Sofie's, then you'll probably enjoy Humble Cow...sans the dairy free options (the worst...don't do it). read more
