Humming Rock Gifts is CELEBRATING 40 SUMMERS in Humarock Massachusetts!
A rainy Saturday in the summer is something you salvage. Or at least that's the mindset myself and two friends had yesterday as we fled central Massachusetts with a band of thunderstorms at our tail for the small seaside village of Scituate called Humarock. Plus, we thought...who's driving out to Cape Cod when its raining?
Cross Sea Street bridge and just before the pavement ends and the sand begins sits a giftshop owned by Christina Brown called Humming Rock Gifts. Although I was not at the shop during normal hours (read on), I had an intimate experience of viewing the shop's WIDE VARIETY of gifts, including Humarock stickers, sweatshirts, cards, shot glasses, items for the home, ornaments, BEAUTIFUL GLASS HUMMINGBIRDS, and more! I noticed how neat the shop was despite the large number of items on display. It also appeared that interior improvements had recently been made and the space was clean.
Most Notable: Visiting Humming Rock Gifts had me feeling as though I was enjoying a sunny summer day on the beach with friends despite a literal thunderstorm passing over our heads. This is all thanks to the big heart of Christina and the GOOD VIBES of Humming Rock Gifts!
While this was my first visit to the shop, it was not my first visit with Christina. We first met at a downtown shop in Stuart Florida on a day (just as rainy) I had taken with my grandmother to do some shopping and make an appointment for FAIRY HAIR! What? Here inside one the downtown gift-shop boutiques Christina introduced me to the world of fairies and mermaids! Not literally...but you may feel like one with strands of silk from Thailand tied to your salty summer waves. In Florida the colored strands of silk "not tinsel" she will tell you, are often called fairy hair. As I sat on a stool in the middle of the shop, the rain outside coming down in droves, we chatted. I told her I'm from Massachusetts and I was in Stuart to visit my grandmother. The "It's A Small World" theme song plays as Christina informs me that she can also turn me into a fairy at her own shop in Humarock, MA! The glistening strands of silk she installs from Humming Rock Gifts is of course called MERMAID HAIR. In the summer you'll probably find her here outside under a tent, crafting with a pair of scissors that resemble a mermaids tail. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND VISITING CHRISTINA OVER ANY OTHER ON THE CAPE. I give all the highest accolades to Humming Rock Gifts and encourage you to visit this summer as the shop celebrates its 40TH! read more
