Nice quick serve place. My wife had a falafel pita and really enjoyed it. The falafel was very fresh. I had the beef shawarma. For me it was to heavily spiced with cumin. The texture was all spice. Really excellent local restaurant! Love the decor and ambiance of the place. A welcoming environment and very friendly staff :) Service was fast and efficient. The food was really great as well! Once, falafel was heavily salted after cooking. No tabouli, no green iced tea. Today, I have it one more try. Tabouli had no dressing- no lemon or oil. Falafel ok after I said "no salt". ( I ve had falafel all over Middle East - was never salted). Pita was OLD. Server was very pleasant but the food is not worth it. I blame the Management for lack of training ing and supervision. Wrap or pita with good ingredients, juicy meats and flavorful sauces but I guess when you have so many that just take the crap they are given they will not change. The staff were extremely patient gracious as they repeated the menu and explained the dishes over and over again to guests unfamiliar with the Mediterranean cuisine. A definite 5 star here! The beef shawarma was quickly seasoned and gets a 4 star. The falafel was perfectly made but lacked any seasoning. The tahini and garlic sauces were excellent, and the tzaki sauce tasted like plain sour cream. The hummus and babaganouch were also good. Over all the food was good but lacked important seasoning and traditional spices. Everything was "Americanized" a bit. I was really pleased with the food. It was all fresh, hot and tasty-great job! Being a new restaurant though, they are definitely going through major growing pains. Seems like they've turned staff over a few times or opened without the right amount of employees. Seems like everyone, except the owner, was moving at an incredibly slow and calculated pace. I've been waiting to try this place with my teenage daughter, and it did not disappoint!! Fresh fresh fresh shaved chicken, so tender and flavorful but not spicy. The hummus was so smooth, the tabouli was light and refreshing. Daughter's wrap was huge and excellent as well. A delightful new walk-up place on SR 70. It's simple, fresh Mediterranean with a nice, clean atmosphere and a super friendly staff! I had the "build-your-own" bowl with my base being their lentil rice. The rice was very different in that it was like a super thin basmati with small tasty red lentils. I topped it with mid-East pickles, cucumber/tomato salad, marinated red onions, a very delish hot pepper relish and babaganoush. These were just a sampling of many amazing and unusual toppings they offer. The protein I chose was their beef shawarma shaved right off the hot spit. It was incredibly tender and had a hint of allspice, which was a nice surprise; it was a bit on the salty side for my liking, however. All of the ingredients offered couldn't have been any fresher. My fiancé had the same thing with a few less toppings and the addition of tzatziki sauce (which needed a little more of a brighter flavor). We also had the hummus which was a HUGE serving and very smooth. It was served with a tasty twist on the regular pita bread. They served us instead a "chip" pita to dip which was crispy, hot and lightly salted. A total treat! The portion sizes are large (deep bowls) with tons of protein (no skimping here). We have eaten here several times and have had good experiences in the past but today was absolutely terrible. We ordered through Door Dash and received half of our order. No hummus, no extra pita, no sauces, just our bowls which did not even have all the toppings we ordered. The bowls were full of dried out chicken and beef, old rice, all ice cold, awful. One of the bowls was made upside down (toppings on the bottom, rice on the top, what?). When I called the restaurant, the girl who said she was a manager said she would only refund me for the missing items. I'm not gonna lie, if I'm not dousing all my food in their hummus I just don't want it. The girl said that everyone working that night was new. That's fine, but you should still make it right when you mess up. They should have remade the whole order and sent it over. I ended up calling Door Dash, who agreed to refund me for the whole order. My recommendations for the new owner of Hummus Bay are as follows... Pay attention to the kids running your business, they are not representing you well. Make sure the food is fresh, it always was in the past. Offer a beef option for the Door Dash "customize your bowl" item. Give a whole pita per bowl, not a half, why would you change that. Portion size is way smaller, and the staff is less knowledgeable. They couldn't even understand our vegan needs. They even put beef on my husband's wrap! Also, we were always able to get salt free fries. We always just got the sumac on them. The sumac used to be high quality, but you can tell the difference when the sumac is mostly salt. The quality just isn't there that used to be. I guess this is our last visit. read more
