It was supposed to be beef. Shawarma is not.

I left a post a year ago that it was delicious, we ordered the beef Shawarma three meals for 40+ dollars, he took something out from a container behind the counter. It was dry and black and burnt. When we got home the food was obviously old. It was not seasoned. It was not Shawarma. It had no flavor except for burnt.

Really excellent local restaurant! Love the decor and ambiance of the place. A welcoming environment and very friendly staff :) Service was fast and efficient. The food was really great as well! Portion size was fantastic for the price. They really load up on everything and are really generous with the sauces. The meat was nice and tender and super flavorful. The pickled vegetables were the perfect complement to the dish. Like a lot of other people, load up on that garlic sauce! So flavorful and goes well with everything!! Really love this place and will definitely drop by again if I'm in the area!! :)

My wife decided to stop in here because she was craving falafel. Glancing at the menu, I decided on the beef Shawarma but the meat was very dry. I didn't end up finishing the rest of what's pictured. The falafel was good though

The service isn't good at all. The chicken was dry. I didn't get part of my order. It was a mess. I will say that the pita was pretty good. I went a few times to give them a few chances and it didn't get any better unfortunately.

I've been waiting to try this place with my teenage daughter, and it did not disappoint!! Fresh fresh fresh shaved chicken, so tender and flavorful but not spicy. The hummus was so smooth, the tabouli was light and refreshing. Daughter's wrap was huge and excellent as well. I had no idea what to expect for pita chips, but freshly fried, crispy and soft and a little sweet was a pleasant surprise. Excellent new spot in town, come check it out, we will be back!

A delightful new walk-up place on SR 70. It's simple, fresh Mediterranean with a nice, clean atmosphere and a super friendly staff! I had the "build-your-own" bowl with my base being their lentil rice. The rice was very different in that it was like a super thin basmati with small tasty red lentils. I topped it with mid-East pickles, cucumber/tomato salad, marinated red onions, a very delish hot pepper relish and babaganoush. These were just a sampling of many amazing and unusual toppings they offer. The protein I chose was their beef shawarma shaved right off the hot spit. It was incredibly tender and had a hint of allspice, which was a nice surprise; it was a bit on the salty side for my liking, however. All of the ingredients offered couldn't have been any fresher. My fiancé had the same thing with a few less toppings and the addition of tzatziki sauce (which needed a little more of a brighter flavor). We also had the hummus which was a HUGE serving and very smooth. It was served with a tasty twist on the regular pita bread. They served us instead a "chip" pita to dip which was crispy, hot and lightly salted. A total treat! The portion sizes are large (deep bowls) with tons of protein (no skimping here). There were two of us, and what we ordered could have fed four. If you're looking for a quick, fresh and tasty meal, this is your place! Ambiance 8/10 Service 9/10 Food 9/10 Value 8/10

Soooo good! I was looking on google maps and happened across hummus bay and boy am I glad I did! It's a Greek style chipotle like experience where you pick out your toppings and then they cook the main protein and bring it to your table. I love the open kitchen concept. Everything was super clean and well ordered. I thoroughly enjoyed my falafel bowl with yellow rice and lentil rice, falafel and cauliflower, hummus, baba ganoosh, tomato cucumber salad and tahini salad. The portions were huge! My husband got the chicken shawarma bowl and said the chicken was really good. The staff was super friendly. Hummus bay has a wide variety of choices for wraps, bowls, or salads. The options were almost overwhelming because I wasn't sure what to choose. I got a chicken bowl with various toppings and taziki sauce (which was really good). It's served with a soft pita pocket which was great for dipping in hummus. Their dragonfruit tea was really good. Our experience at Hummus Bay was very good! I loved that they had many vegan options to choose from. I got a custom bowl with Cauliflower and pita as a side. This place has some of the best Mediterranean I've ever eaten! Their home made hummus is nothing short of phenomenal. They have fresh food and he makes it fresh every day and throws out the remainder every day. If you get something that's more liquidy like the parsley salad. I forget what it's called. It's not gonna last very long in your fridge. I don't really get their meat, dishes and stuff because on the spit there it can dry out. But I often go in and get the hummus and the fresh bread that they have delivered every day.they put the sesame nut butter in there to make it really delicious and they don't over garlic it like some places do. It really is the best Thomas around and I've talked to the owner and he makes it every day from soaked chickpeas, not canned chickpeas. read more

The wraps are full of flavor! Not to mention that they are HUGE! Enough for 2 big eaters, easily. The ingredients are fresh and authentic. Service is from very nice & knowledgeable people who clearly love this little eatery. As far as ambience goes... well, it was ok for so many hard surfaces but some background music would be nice but hardly necessary. We will definitely go back! read more

Food was delicious and so appetizing. Loved all the sides that came with the well seasoned beef and chicken shawarma. It really complimented all the flavors. This place is in its first week opening and can already tell it'll be a huge hit in the Sarasota Bradenton area. So pretty when you walk in with the design. It looks like a franchise but its owned by a nice family. We were instantly greeted and taken care of. The place was very clean and staff was constantly making sure everything was tidy. First, this is not a restaurant. It is a very plain cafeteria serving a traditional street-vendor's menu. In Beruit and other cities in the ME you find the carts with shawarma and these sides. Usually very good & fresh. The food itself is fresh and well -prepared and servings are substantial. If you've never had good Lebanese food before, you'll find this an interesting and tasty diversion. However, if you've experienced good Lebanese food, you'll be disappointed in the base dishes and their shortcomings. The worst is the tabbouleh, the world's greatest salad if made to traditional recipes. Here it is a bowl of dry mint & lemon flavoured parsley, with a few - scarce - small bits of tomatoes and insufficient bulgur and lemon, missing the olive oil and garlic. The baba ganoush is made from chopped roasted eggplant; Traditionally, the eggplant is scooped out of the skin, whereas theirs is chopped whole, with large hunks of skin, a very crude and bad-textured dip. The larger hunks of skin have a negative taste and strange texture; insufficient olive oil and garlic are a further detriment to the dish. The hummous is from a recipe that is familiar but lacks taste, with insufficient garlic. If you've never had this food before, you'll find it interesting; if you've had it, especially in the good spots in London & Paris, better give it a pass. read more

Wow! So fresh and yummy!! What a great addition to our east Bradenton/LWR dining options. I had the make your own bowl with falafel, hummus and baba ghanoush- it was amazing! The lentil rice is spiced just right and the falafels are perfectly crunch on the outside and soft & fluffy inside. I cannot wait to come back for more! I ate it too fast to get a picture! read more

I was so excitedcited to hear that finally a mediterranean restaurantaurant had opened up in East Bradenton and couldn't wait to go there. Well we did finally had the time to check it out this past weekend. Before I go any further I must say that we came from an part of the country in the US where we could find a Mediterranean restaurant & grocery store everywhere we went. There were Iranians, Persions, Armenians, Lebanese and others, so this style food was plentiful and we loved it! Our visit to Hummus Bay was not what we were expecting at all. First I thought it was the time of day or perhaps it was the day of the week. In any event it was extremely disappointing that we honestly will not be returning. read more

We saw this place on DoorDash and decided to go in and try it. All of the pictures looked really good! So we tried the Chicken Shwarma, the Kebob bowl, the fresh toasted pita chips, and a large side of their hummus. The hummus was incredibly good, and they put it together right then and there. The kebob was flavorful and the chicken was pretty good too! We will definitely come back to try other things, for sure! The folks behind the counter were incredibly nice and helpful, all smiles and friendly! I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone :) read more

A quick Google search did not disappoint. I happened to be right across from a beautiful shopping center and spotted this stunning Greek restaurant. Mediterranean cuisine is my absolute favorite, so I was immediately excited. The only catch? I was cutting it close. They close at 9:00 PM on Thursdays, and I was just seven minutes away with about 30 minutes to spare. I decided to take my chances -- and I'm so glad I did. I sat at the bar and was warmly greeted by a very kind and welcoming bartender. I ordered two glasses of Pinot Grigio and an incredible platter with hummus, chicken skewers, olives, and sliced meats. The platter looked intimidating in the photo, but it's absolutely manageable for one person -- just be warned, the pita bread will fill you up quickly! Even though I felt a little guilty arriving close to closing and staying a bit past 9 to finish, the staff never made me feel rushed. If I hadn't felt bad about the timing, I absolutely would have ordered dessert -- and probably an espresso martini to top it off. Now I know for next time I'm back on the West Coast. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed with a classy, upscale feel -- even though I showed up looking like I had just survived a road trip (because I had). There's only so much glamour you can maintain after three hours in the car. I highly recommend coming here for dinner and then walking around the shopping area afterward. It's exactly my kind of shopping destination -- you truly have everything you could think of in one place. I just wish we had something like this closer to home.
