First off, awesome place. My wife and I are in town after a cruise and stumbled upon Humpy's. We're in town for 2 days and we ate here for lunch and dinner and then lunch again. Here's the perfect meal that I had. I started with a locally brewed hazy IPA, then had a bowl of the Smoked Salmon Chowder. I wasn't too sure about getting that but it was fantastic. Then I got their Alaskan Cod fish and chips. Lightly battered, crispy and fresh. The fish was pure white, flaky and sweet. Really excellent and the fries were great too. We ended the meal with a mixed berry cobbler topped with ice cream. It's was hot and tasted great. Large portions and the service was very friendly. If you're in town and looking for a cozy place to eat try Humpy's out. I think you will really enjoy it. read more

I feel bad leaving this review because our server was very sweet, but the nachos left a LOT to be desired. There was a lot of cheese sauce on the nachos, which was not listed on the menu item, and the chicken appeared to be strips cut from some form of compounded patty. Additionally, several items were hidden on the menus, which indicates they are no longer serving flatbreads or dessert. read more

For an airport establishment, I was impressed. It's seat yourself and we chose to sit at the bar. All of the beers on tap were "broken" so it definitely didn't live up to the "ale house" name. The bartender was nice enough and provided decent service, but service from the restaurant wasn't good. The taps all being broken for one. Second, our appetizer (fried calamari) took over 30 minutes. This is absurd for what we ordered. It came out chewy and over cooked. Our entrees were better. I got the cod fish and chips and they were hot, fresh and delicious. I would get it again. So it seems they are almost always out of halibut. And they don't offer the wonderful halibut tacos on the menu anymore?? What a shame! They were a favorite for years. Ordered the cod & chips but the fish and the fries came out limp and soggy. Comes with a yummy tartar sauce, but no cocktail sauce, and the ketchup is all in little plastic packets. A small sized beer is served in a little plastic cup (CRINGE) so you only get a proper glass of beer if you order a large. One good thing: the beers are tasty and cold either way, but I do respect and love a beer served in a glass. Servers are cordial, and fairly fast. I just hope they aren't slipping up on their fried food, which needs to be served hot and crispy -- since 90% of the menu is that type of food! read more

I didn't know what I felt like so I asked the waitress what she recommended. I love it when a waiter/tress doesn't hesitate to throw something out there. Wish I got to visit the original location. Here at the airport one, they only had one local beer to offer. I don't think "Ale House" is the right term for this establishment, or at least this location. The bulk of the menu is fried food. Sat down and waited 15min before an old grumpy Asian lady walked by, took our menus away, and said they were not serving food today. If you are not serving food it would probably be a good idea to put up a sign saying so or put a greeter at the entrance instead of wasting people's time. I had originally planned to eat at the Downtown location, but just got lazy after running a marathon. So when I had a few hours to pass in the airport, I thought that that was a good time as any to eat at Humpy's. Since I was by myself, I grabbed a seat at the bar. The bartender was very quick and friendly. She was juggling a lot of drink orders during my meal. She recommended that I get the halibut blackened, she was right. *Midnight Sun Kodiak Brown Ale* They didn't have any porters or stouts on tap, so I thought I'd give this beer a try. It was a nice malty beer. A good change of pace from all of the IPA's that I've been drinking lately. *Blackened Halibut Burger* I had been eating a lot of bacon double cheeseburgers lately on my marathon trips, so this was a nice change of pace. It actually had just enough of a spicy kick to make it interesting. The only other time that I eat a fish burger is the filet o' fish at McDonald's. This of course was at least 1000 times better. :) *Midnight Sun Sockeye Red IPA* For my IPA's, I prefer ones with citrus flavor and floral aroma. This beer fit that bill. Eaten here twice due to a recommendation from my father-n-law. Both times I ate the halibut fish and chips. Not a fan. My father-n-law loves this place, however he hasn't eaten there in 20 years. Fantastic beer selection for an airport! It does not get much better than this. Call me crazy, but I actually like the food here better than the downtown location. The halibut tacos here tasted much more fresh than the ones I had downtown. The ones downtown were so bad I probably should have sent them back. The airport location is a handy place to get a bite while waiting for a flight out of ANC. I can't compare the prices to the downtown location, but things seemed a bit pricey for what you get. This place is tacky, and the food offers mainly greasy fair. I will say that they seat you relatively quickly and have a generous seating area given the amount of traffic at this small Anchorage Airport. I think their t-shirt motto says it best and captures the ambiance of the locale: "I got crabs at Humpy's." Pretty much sums up the mood of the alehouse in a nutshell. If you're here for a quick, sit-down bite, this is a decent option if you need to be at a gate nearby relatively quickly. Otherwise, if you have a bit more time, I suggest you explore outside this particular set of gates. In another wing of the airport, you'll find more affordable, intriguing versions that don't make you want to roll your eyes upon seeing the name. The food is decent; your standard fried fair where "crab roll" actually means fried sandwich. Lots of sauce and grease but nothing really special or outstanding in terms of flavor. Service is fair but, again, nothing special. I think you would find more attentive, friendly service elsewhere along with a larger flavor profile. read more

Disclaimer I did not have any food on my visit to the Humpy's at Anchorage Airport. My mother and I stopped for a glass of wine before our flight. We were in a bit of a hurry so I just asked for "two glasses of Cabernet." She brought us our wine in rocks glasses, while everyone around us had actual wine glasses...no big deal. This use to be the place to go... the food was good and they had decent prices. Meh, not so much anymore. This is more of a bar with a food menu. King Crab nuggets are more like a paste deep fried. They do have killer fish and chips though. Best advice is to eat at the bar for the fastest service. read more
