    My husband and I were looking for Chinese food in Chinatown, and we're so glad we landed on Hunan Cuisine -- he absolutely loved this spot, and I did too! You order at the table using a QR code, which I was a little nervous about at first because I have a peanut and tree nut allergy and usually like to speak directly with a server. I added a note about my allergy in the online order, and a server came right over to review everything with us and make sure it was safe. It was incredibly reassuring, and I felt like they handled my allergy very carefully and professionally. We ordered the hot and sour soup, and the portion size was huge -- definitely enough for more than two people. Next time I'd order the smaller size, but it was delicious. We also tried the sweet and sour shrimp, chicken with chilies, and beef lo mein -- all absolutely delicious. Just a heads-up: the chicken with chilies is very spicy, but in a great way if you love heat! The ambience was exactly what we were looking for -- cozy, lively, and filled with people enjoying their meals. The food came out quickly, and everything tasted fresh and full of flavor. Overall, an amazing experience. I would highly recommend Hunan Cuisine to anyone visiting Boston and looking for great food in Chinatown!

    Housed in Chinatown, I knew this place was going to be a hit the moment I walk in - from the staff to the aromas. The cold chili oil noodles and spicy chicken appetizers tasted extra refreshing as it was super hot out. The spice wasn't overpowering and the cucumbers marinating in that chili oil were just phenomenal. Even the lo mein dish had so much seafood and the noodles were perfect without being soggy. I was very pleasantly surprised and would 1000% recommend this place.

    The beef lomein was delicious and everything here was not dry at all. The mapo tofu was my favorite. It has a nice mala taste to it. The fried rice was also good and had a lot of flavor. The soup dumplings were really good and savory. The shumai was not that good. Scallion pancakes tasted a bit too much like mochi. Cucumber salad was alright, very strong sesame taste. A lot of the food on their menu is spicy; love that for me. Service was very friendly and the staff kindly brought a plastic cup with a lid and straw for my toddler to drink water out of, and even brought out a paper plate and plastic utensils for him to use without me asking for it. They are very thoughtful and I appreciate that. I would love to come back and try more cuisine.

    Stopped by for dinner and the line was long but we were able to get the table. Ordered some spring rolls, beef dish, just okay garlic noodle, and chicken dish, and rice. Great food with reasonably prices if you don't mind the wait.

    My personal favorite from Boston's Chinatown. The food is very authentic and amazing, and the staff is actually very understanding! Amazing food, and I would personally recommend their eggplant dishes and any of their veggies!!! Try foods you haven't tried before here-- it's all great!

    Super busy place with good food. The spicy stuff is spicy, you've been warned! The clams were so-so, too spicy and missing some flavor. The cumin beef was very good, and also very spicy. I would like to come back when I'm in town and try more stuff. The seating at rush hour was a painful experience, they have a waiting list system but they don't really follow it, so for example when my turn arrived they made me wait for longer and sat other people. I was almost out the door when they finally sat me and then from that point the service was very good. The prices were reasonable IMO for the portions. The place is very casual and can be loud during dinner hours, and there isn't much of an interior design, it looks like the place haven't really been updated for a long time. It is clean however.

    Good portions of food and my mixed veges were good. I asked for fresh garlic in the sauce and it came sliced raw so it was pretty spicy and I added it anyway. The beef soup was a lot and enough for 2 hungry people. We had leftovers of the beef soup that we didn't double dip into and packed it up and left it w a spoon for someone who might be hungry bc we were tourists and can't take it home. I did not however, like how the older male wait staff touched the water cups right on the areas we put our mouths when trying to be attentive and give us extra water so I declined but it was too late bc he already touched my cup at the areas I drink from so since I was thirsty I tried to drink only at the very edge of the cup. Cleanliness and hygiene are most important to me and I will always appreciate a clean place and good habits.

    Omg this place is absolutely fantastic! If you're just there for some fried rice and crab wonton like any other take out place, you're missing out! It's a pity to see that people walk in an authentic Chinese restaurant and don't know what to order. If you know Hunan food or love good spicy food, this is your spot. All the stir fries, all of them are delicious! The service was very fast even though the restaurant was super super super full. The lady was very friendly and asked if it was too spicy for us, and we said it was perfect. You can adjust the spicy level but if you don't like food has flavor, please don't be bothered, it is not for you. The restaurant is so busy but very lovely ambiance. You know everyone there is for the good food, and willing to wait for a seat. Definitely will be back and bring friends!

    This place had amazing service as well as great food! I was describe the ambience as bustling! It was very busy, although they were able to accommodate everyone in a timely manner as they had multiple tables turned over at the same time. My personal favorite was the lo mein and the scallion pancakes.

    Wanted to try something other than Italian or seafood this evening, so we had an Uber drop us off in a very busy/narrow little part of Chinatown here in Boston. I couldn't imagine trying to drive and park here, I'd recommend you do the same- either uber or walk here if you can. When we arrived, it was very standard "Chinatown" vibe, which was pretty cool in our book. We were greeted promptly, but let me just say- there is no muss no fuss here, the lady asked us how many, asked us to sit down, and they'd call us. Very direct, not rude or anything, but definitely no overly cozy tone for sure. Which, tbh, didn't bother us at all, the place was PACKED solid, so I understood the urgency and directness. Cool, no prob. The second time she addressed us caught us a bit off guard 'cause, she straight yelled at us with "who was first?!" To which I was like "uhh, yes, we were first..." but it was wild, I felt like I was on a sitcom type situation for a moment. The food order was a bit of a newer experience, as you order your food from a site on your phone, and they bring it to you. Prices were about standard for the area, about $20 per entree. Still, unique and pretty convenient way to order. Now, let me just say how blown away I was at every single item we ordered- it was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! We had the Hot and Sour soup, the Egg Drop soup, the scallion beef, and General Tao's chicken. All fresh, and top notch. They did not miss there. The service was very calculated, but minimal, and I get it, cause sure, they're super busy. The only criticism I had was that when it came time to pay, the gentleman (who really wasn't our server) stood looking over my shoulder and actually objected to the tip I was leaving on the screen (I was choosing the first option, like 15% or 18%) and actually asked me if had bad service (which is weird 'cause it was a totally different lady that served us) and he was pointing at the tip that said 25% on the screen. I kind of left it alone, gave him my intended tip, but still the guy was totally out of pocket for acting that way, never had someone argue with me about what tip they got ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    The restaurant was filled with customers but overall, atmosphere was decent and typical of a busy and well-known Chinese restaurant in the Boston Chinatown area. We waited a few minutes for seating for 2. We easily ordered our dishes via a QR code and a waiter came to confirm our order. We ordered the eggplant with preserved egg and braided tofu with mushroom and minced pork, which paired nicely with white rice. Both dishes came out at a timely manner and had a nice kick of spice. However, the only con was that we felt a little rushed, especially after the hour mark.

    I love authentic Szechuan food, so while in Boston seeking some I came to Chinatown and walked around checking out menus, ultimately stopping in here. The menu is filled with many appealing items. I opted to start with their crush cucumbers, which were great! Lots of flavor and I liked that there was soy sauce in them too! Next up was their cumin beef... it was decent. Nice amount of heat, but not as strong of a flavor compared to what I'm used to. I felt it was missing that umami. Service in there was ok as well... I feel that it's so busy they don't care as much about impressing or wowing their customers with great service... the food probably speaks for itself.

Shanghai Classic Pork Pan-Fried Buns上海生煎饅頭: I was instantly hooked! It's hard to imagine finding such good pan-fried buns in the US. Almost every table ordered them, so they were all freshly made, piping hot. The bun was made with unleavened dough, making it chewy and refreshing, with a light, crispy bottom--not oily or hard. The meat filling was substantial and tender, with plenty of broth (see picture). It was sweeter than salty, incredibly umami. The chili oil was also very fragrant, and dipping it in Zhenjiang vinegar enhanced the flavor and cut through the greasiness. Shredded Pork & Preserved Vegetable Noodle Soup雪菜肉絲麵: The noodles were thin and round, with a soft, mushy texture. While the noodles were clearly machine-made, this isn't a problem in the Yangtze River Delta region; the issue was likely overcooking. The shredded pork were well-stirred, with tender meat, but the noodles lacked flavor. They had to be eaten with the pickled mustard greens雪菜 to be slightly salty, and the umami flavor was severely diluted. The tableware is all disposable, and tipping is not mandatory. It's quite affordable.

It's more of a takeout place as it's rather small, but the interior is clean and bright.
