I've eaten Chinese food pretty much all over the world, including in China. I usually do have Kung Pau chicken or shrimp. I believe that Huhn have some of the best Kung Powell that I ever have had in the US. The dish is not filled with vegetables, and it shouldn't be, lightly breaded and served with peanuts and hot peppers, giving it an excellent flavor. Most places ruin this dish by adding all kinds of vegetables to it, which is not truly Kung pau . Mine could've been a little bit more spicy, but I didn't ask them to make it extra spicy the only other place I've had similar. Kamel was in the UK many years ago. My wife had the shrimp and I had the chicken for lunch and the overall meal was a lot of food was very good flavor and good value. We will come back again because we enjoy this place a lot. read more

We just ordered food from here on DoorDash the sesame chicken taste awful there's a horrible aftertaste and I'm scared that somethings wrong with it. The fried rice is absolutely disgusting the sweet-and-sour chicken. They did not send with sweet-and-sour sauce and they didn't send the drink that we paid for which all it was was an iced tea, but we didn't get it. I think this place has totally fallen off. I'm pretty sure they're not changing the grease in the fried food but I'm not sure all I know is this was awful and I used to love this place. read more

I'm leaving 5 stars for takeout but would leave 0 if I could for in-person dining. So it left me with roughly 2 stars for my overall experience. I have a severe gluten intolerance, and I've never had issues with my online orders. I always get the chicken and broccoli with steamed rice. Their egg drop soup is gluten free, and they note all gluten-free items on the menu. With that said, I've dined in the last few times my parents have been in town to visit. The waitress never writes down my order, and it continuously comes out wrong. I get sick from cross-contamination with gluten, and I always emphasize I have an allergy. Yesterday was my last dine-in experience for awhile. I ordered my usual and told the waitress I needed steamed rice. No egg roll. My mom asked them to put it on a separate plate. She (as always) didn't write down my order. Lo and behold, my food comes out with fried rice and an egg roll on the plate. My husband explained the allergy, and the kitchen simply wiped the rice off the plate and put steamed on top of it. I was sick for three hours afterwards. To say I'm fed up of continuously having my order wrong and being sick is an understatement. If you're going to claim an item is gluten free, NOTE WHEN SOMEONE HAS AN ALLERGY. Tell the kitchen. me and the family came to Hunan for a early dinner on a Saturday, and we haven't been to Hunan in such a long time since the closing in the lake Houston/kingwood location. we have not been to the new location so we came in figure we give it a try. we love the plain lo mein which has always been a classic dish for us that packs good flavor. the chicken fried rice is also one of our favorite menu items that we enjoy it has a good amount of chicken and vegetables very good flavor. I'm not to crazy for their egg rolls they are not made in house they are pre-made I can tell and I know a good egg roll when I one at a Chinese restaurant, for a appetizer I would recommend the spring rolls although they are not made in house I rather eat the spring rolls over the egg rolls any day. Decided to give this place a try since our beloved Mencius closed. Knowing Hunan Garden has also been a long time standing restaurant in Kingwood, we thought maybe it could fill in for our favorite Mencius. Sadly, it wasn't even close. The staff were friendly and attentive, but the food just unfortunately did not deliver. The wonton soup was the best part. It was better than many other Chinese restaurants, but everything else fell flat. Egg rolls were small and plain. We had dry noodles with an odd taste in one of our dishes. The meat was tough. Overall, lack of flavor for everything. Fried rice equally had an odd, dry, bland taste. One of our dishes was sweet and sour chicken. It was basically just a ton of fried part with thin, tough pieces of chicken. All of the dishes we ordered were just blah and with an odd taste to sum it up. We couldn't finish our food. We were very disappointed. Unfortunately, we are still on the hunt for the next best Chinese restaurant. Someone please reopen Mencius following their recipes!! read more

This is a tough one to rate. The atmosphere was warm and nice, and the host was very friendly. My server, although reserved, was pleasant the bus boy was excellent, as my tea was always full. I started with the steam pork dumplings. Nice presentation, but rather rubbery we're not very appetizing to look at, and basically didn't have a lot of flavor. I then had for my entrée, a seafood medley, I forget the name sorry. It came with shrimp, scallops and imitation crab. The crab was cold. The scallops were perfect and the shrimp may have been a tad overdone. overall, it was pretty good...I asked for it extra hot and it came mild, but I understand why restaurants do this. We tried Hunan again tonight (takeout) and just so extremely disappointed. Food was over cooked , dry and no sauce . The dumplings were so hard and lacked filling . I will say the lettuce wraps were the best part of the meal . We also ordered 2 soups with zero flavor. This unfortunately will be the last time we ever order Hunan again . I've been here two days in a row for lunch, yesterday and today. First off, I want to mention to this restaurant that I'm thrilled there's FINALLY a sit down Chinese restaurant . Not to mention a GREAT Chinese. You first get served with hot tea and water without having to say anything to them. Then delicious soup and your meal, with an egg roll. Nice clean newer restaurant, dare I say almost fancy with a full bar. Unfortunately the food isn't very good. Hot sour soup was served barely warm/tepid, near flavorless very boring. Fried rice was also flavorless, egg roll was pretty good (though tasted suspiciously like Chung's frozen ones), the shredded pork in garlic sauce was just alright nothing special. We have been ordering from Hunan Garden for years and it has been OK. However, the last few times we have ordered have not turned out so well. This time we struggled to get the person taking our order to understand we wanted 2 entrees and not just 1. It never worked out. Once we got our one entree home the larger pieces of chicken were undercooked and the smaller ones overcooked. Ordered delivery from here. I got the curry chicken, crab puffs and shrimp egg foo young for my husband and myself. The delivery was fast, and the food was hot when it arrived. They also didn't have a delivery fee over a certain $ amount, and it was very easy to order online. The portions were pretty generous for the price (imo) as well. The crab puffs were decent.. I would have preferred a little more crab, but the flavors were good. They weren't overly sweet like many of the crab puffs I've had. The chicken curry dish was ordered extra spicy. It had good flavor, but wasn't quite as spicy as I like. However, they definitely gave it more kick than most Chinese restaurants do. Will definitely order again. Then again, maybe I just order salty dishes? The cashew chicken is my favorite. They give generous portions considering your eating for around 7-10 bucks. This is our favorite Chinese restaurant BUT tonight we had takeout from their new pick-up place in the center of Kingwood and it was BLAND, no taste difference between the foods ordered until the Last Bite of General Tsao's Chicken. The Special House Fried Rice was Bland and we usually love it. The Crispy Won Ton Strips were tasteless We have never NOT finished the Wonton Soup but tonight there was no reason to keep eating such a tasteless soup. We even had to throw out the leftovers. We used to order all the time from this restaurant. They became our go to when Mencius changed hands. They were quick to deliver and the food was good. Since they moved, it takes 2 hours for delivery and the prices are doubled. We didn't get everything we ordered. They gave us a hard time about asking to not be charged for what we didn't get. Never again. I'll have to move to get good Chinese food again or make my own. In my opinion, they don't even deserve one star. read more
