I will not be returning. The food itself was already disappointing, but the customer service is what really sealed the deal. The sweet and sour chicken tasted like frozen fried chicken pieces tossed in a basic sweet and sour sauce. I'm used to actual battered sweet and sour chicken, so this was a letdown. The shrimp with garlic sauce was decent and at least tasted like it had actually been prepared in a kitchen rather than coming out of a bag. I'm giving 2 stars for the food only because the shrimp meal was decent. The bigger issue was my delivery order. I paid for both white rice and fried rice, but instead received one large fried rice. My wife is allergic to egg, which is in the fried rice, so I called and asked that the white rice I originally ordered and paid for be delivered. Instead of simply correcting the restaurant's mistake, the owner was extremely combative and made it seem like delivering the missing rice would be a major inconvenience. She even suggested that I drive to the restaurant and pick up the rice at a later date, despite me explaining that my wife has an egg allergy. What I would have appreciated was a simple apology and an effort to correct the mistake without debating me over an item I paid for and did not receive. She offered me a free egg roll if I came to pick up the rice at a later date, but when they ultimately agreed to deliver the rice, the egg roll was no longer included. It's not about a free egg roll, it's the principle. If you were willing to offer it for the inconvenience when I picked up the rice, why not include that same gesture when correcting your own delivery mistake? That would have at least shown some effort toward good customer service after an unnecessary and unpleasant interaction. And after making it seem like getting the rice delivered would take such a long time, it arrived in about 10 minutes. A simple mistake could have been resolved quickly and professionally. Instead, the owner's attitude and unwillingness to accommodate a customer over the restaurant's acknowledged mistake turned it into a much bigger issue. Terrible customer service, and they lost a customer because of it. I will not be returning or recommending this restaurant. Hin's Garden is closer to me anyway, and the food is better. read more

The egg food young had chunks of mystery meat that tasted terrible, the egg roll had nothing but cabbage in it, the sweet and sour sauce was a cold, gelatinous glob and while, the won tons in the soup were good, the soup itself tasted just like Campbell's soup from a can. Either way, probably our last time ordering from them as quality vs price isn't there anymore General Tso's chicken was tough. Fried rice was not good. Mongolian Beef was mostly carrots, celery, bell pepper, onions, and mushrooms than any beef. All things that are usually not served with Mongolian beef except for the onions. Ordered pickup. Was called shortly thereafter to tell me it would be ~20. Arrived 25 minutes later and was not ready. Front desk lady pushed the voucher in front of me and told me to sign! sign it!. I told her that my card had already been authorized and I would sign once my food was handed to me. She muttered under her voice, then scampered off returning with several orders that were ready. Just rude over all. Once I was ready to sign she hovered watching if there would be a tip. Which there was. Portions for carryout are 1/2 to 3/4 the size of dine in. There was very little actual meat on either of the dishes ordered. Mostly rice and "sauce". I've been here several times over the years and am reminded not to come back for a while. Let's call this stale hair with a little sauce. Steamed dumplings couldn't even stay together when picked up. One of them was near cold/frozen when I bit into it. Portions are the smallest I've ever seen. Normally we order a $14 chicken and it feeds two elementary age kids - this was like 9 pieces. Overall - the egg drop soup was the only thing edible. Food wasn't amazing but wasn't horrible. I ordered the mai fun with pork, chicken and shrimp and it had good flavor. Too many bell peppers for my taste but someone else probably loves that. I also ordered the Peking pork. It had no flavor and was served on top of these little hard noodle things that were a PAIN to get out of the way to eat the pork. They stuck to every piece and had no flavor and were just super unappetizing. I think they used them as a filler to make it look like more pork was in there. Tried this place with my family and we really enjoyed it. The food was good and the customer service was great. We ordered the black pepper shrimp, shrimp fried rice, dumplings, lo mein, fried jumbo shrimp and fries. They give you fried wonton with sweet and sour and wasabi as an appetizer. They are definitely on the list for places to revisit. If you order the black pepper shrimp your server will finish cooking the meal at your table. It's really cute for the kids. Sorry to update this preview and take it from a 5 star to a 2 star. The food has steadily gone down hill since they sold the business. The flavors are different as is the quality. The grease used to dry the egg rolls and such is rancid and tastes terrible. The dishes that were once perfectly balanced are now too sweet, almost sickeningly so. This was my families favorite spot for Chinese for 20 years plus. I'm absolutely heart broken at how much has changed. Ordered takeaway for lunch, but it was a Chinese surprise when I got home. Both our items were not on lunch menu, so dinner price paid. The Mongolian beef I was expecting (spicy beef in onions and green onions) was provided as beef with vegetables (carrots, celery, green peppers). I have lived in the area for 15+ years and never had Mongolian beef from any Chinese restaurant that didn't have just onions and spring onions as the supporting band. As I have an allergic reaction to green peppers, it was a no go. The fried rice ordered with it never even made it into the bag. The girl at the restaurant said 'that's how we do Mongolian beef'. Google images of Mongolian beef ... no carrots, no green peppers. The Moo Shu chicken dish also disappointed. Almost wholly blanched chicken in bean sprouts... If you are ordering from this establishment, check what you are going to get and then check that they have not left anything out that you ordered. The only dish I would order again would be the sweet and sour chicken. I find their food bland, lacking spice and flavor. My husband tolerates the chicken fried rice but he says that's bland too. So after reading a few reviews I went inside to get my food. I ordered shrimp fried rice. So because I was skeptical due to the reviews, i tried my food before I left the parking lot. Y'all, it literally made my stomach hurt. (And honestly here I am about 5 hours later and my stomach is still upset)... so the fried rice still had frozen peas and carrots. The rice tasted OLD. I went back inside and got my money back. I was telling the guy at the counter about my horrible experience and he was looking at me like he was confused. Yea, I sholl got my money back. Please listen to the reviews. Save yourself a headache and stomachache and go to the Chinese restaurant across the street by dollar tree. My name, what I preferred, the names of the friends I would visit with in the past. This is personal and professional service to perfection. There's a dinner special from 4 to 7pm. Prices range from 6 to 11.00. I got the sesame chicken, my companion ordered the house special lomein. The won ton soup was fresh, hot and flavorful. I loved the egg rolls, full of fresh vegetables and lightly fried. The sesame chicken had a sweet sauce and was moist and perfectly cooked. The house special lomein was the star of the evening. It included shrimp, chicken and beef. Fresh, perfectly seasoned. My companion has been coming to this restaurant for 17 years, and has always been very happy. My favorite Chinese restaurant in the Kingwood area. I have been eating here since I was a toddler in the early 1980's when the restaurant was @ a different location. I've eaten virtually the entire menu as my first job was as a delivery driver for Oriental Gardens. Here are some "Lesser known" gems - Szechuan Crispy Chicken Peking Style Shredded Beef House Special Shredded Pork Spicy Bean Curd w/ ground Pork BBQ Pork Appetizer Shrimp stuffed Eggplant Beef Stick Appetizer Black Pepper Beef/Chicken/Shrimp Egg Foo Young (the gravy by itself on rice is delicious). Salty Crispy Shrimp Yen Young Beef Hong Kong Steak (if available) Everything here is made from scratch. Nothing is bought from a restaurant supply company. General, Sesame, & Orange Chicken are all 100% white meat, a rarity. ***TIP*** - if you would like a dish not on the lunch, early bird, or Sunday Special menus just ask. As long as its around the same price they don't charge extra. Same for the Family Dinner menu. Try that at another Chinese restaurant. Placed an order for delivery. One item was incorrect. Ordered sweet and sour chicken but got sweet and sour shrimp. When I called to let them know, they wanted me to keep the shrimp because it is a higher price than the chicken. I told her I wanted the chicken that I ordered but if it was too difficult to being the sweet and sour chicken I would just take a refund on the sweet and sour chicken and keep the shrimp.
