Hit up Hins Garden in Kingwood recently and tried the Kung Pao Chicken and Orange Chicken (with the classic white rice, of course). The Orange Chicken? Solid. You could definitely taste the oyster sauce which sounds weird but somehow works it gave it a nice savory twist that kept us going back for more. Now, the Kung Pao Chicken... listen. I wanted to love it. But the chicken was kinda doing its own thing lol dry, tough, like it had been through something . It was coated in sauce, like they were trying to make up for it with a flood of flavor. Pro tip: less sauce, better chicken, everybody wins. Overall, not bad for a local spot. My husband grew up in Kingwood so this place hits a little nostalgic for him, and now that we're back living here for work, it's officially his go-to for an Orange Chicken fix. So yeah... we'll definitely be back, but probably steering clear of the Kung Pao next time. Also pro tip I guess or a little warning they only do to go no dine ins also the inside atmosphere is a little boring and the customer service isn't really the best but it's not the worst. read more

Do not eat here. The food here is terrible. But since Asian food at Kingwood options are limited, we do pick up here. Today, they got the order wrong. I called. They were absolutely rude. Did not apologize. Told us to drive back and they will charge us for the right food. But that means our other items will be cold. I worked in restaurants. You should apologize and you should give the food item free if we have to drive back. I will not be going to this restaurant. Terrible customer service. read more

Let's start with the food. The regular fried rice taste stale, it's what I'd expect from a cafeteria. The egg-roll was no different. Pleasantly surprised with the General Tso's, it's the only reason they are getting ANY stars after SHORTING me $5 in change. They deserve the 1 star, the General Tso's earned them that. Worst part is I paid in cash and they didn't include a receipt on the bag. I shouldn't have to double check to see if I was stolen from by an establishment that has been in the community for 15+ years! This place is going down, their food is going down with it, along with their moral integrity! SHAME! The inside is what you'd expect, copy and paste, didn't take time enough to see if there was anymore roaches other than the one that handed me back my change. Enjoy the $5. Have been dining here for 15+ years. I actually ended up working here as a delivery driver when I was in high school about 9 years ago. The family still remembers me and always asks how I'm doing when I go in. I can tell you from experience, the food is authentic and the kitchen is in pristine condition. They are consistent and will make changes to your dish at your request. Through Covid and hurricanes and what not they have always been there. Hins Garden has to be the paragon of takeout, week night, family dinners in Kingwood. Obviously I recommend the General Tsos extra spicy, but you can't go wrong with any any dish on the menu, truly. Who ever makes the egg rolls, tell them to stop! They're filled with cabbage only! We ordered a dozen and literally every one of them are cabbage only. I never asked for vegetable egg rolls. They were not good at all! Shrimp fried rice was good. That's all I can say. Disappointed. read more

The food is absolutely amazing. This is a staple to Kingwood. They always go above and beyond for providing the best food. I typically get egg rolls, dumplings, sesame chicken, beef & broccoli, sweet & sour chicken, hot and sour soup, as well as vegetable fried rice. As for sweet and sour sauce to ensure it's in the bag, otherwise it's always great. They've been around for many years and it always satisfies my fix for Chinese take out. We placed an order for take out and even though we didn't start eating for almost 30 minutes after getting the food, everything was still really hot. The lunch specials are a pretty good deal, averaging $7 to $8 and including brown rice, a soup and a spring roll. The spring roll only had cabbage in it, which was disappointing, but everything else was spot on. The gauge of a good Chinese restaurant is their kung pao and this was exactly as it should be. Not too sweet, and had the right amount of peppers, onions and peanuts in the dish. The chicken is all white meat and extremely juicy. The Szechuan shrimp could have been a tad spicier but I just bit into the pepper whole in order to jumpstart the spice! It came with a good amount of veggies too. The favorite was the General Tso's chicken which I haven't had in years. For the chicken to still be hot and crispy even after waiting awhile to dig in, speaks volumes. If I lived here I would be doing take out at least once a week! read more

I have been eating at Hin's for many years but just recently ordered take out to take to my parents when visiting home and it was great! I ordered in the restaurant and it took only about 10 minutes of waiting for the nice hostess to bring me my order. I ordered a large hot and sour soup, a vegetable friend rice and the eggplant from the veggie list. It was enough to feed my family of 3 with a little bit of leftovers. I was extremely excited to try their eggplant and it was just as good as I thought it would be! I'll definitely be coming back to Hin's when I'm in town again visiting! read more

Love the owner & the food is great EVERY time we go! We placed a large order and nothing was missed even the small extras I asked for.

I tried this restaurant one last time because the General Tso chicken is delicious most of the time ... BAD idea. This ugly, incompetent, rude little man got our telephone order wrong and expected me to take it. I told him I couldn't take it home without it being right. I sat down and waited another fifteen minutes. He never apologized. A lady brought it out and I asked her twice if she was sure they got everything in the bag that we ordered and she said, yes. I returned home only to discover they left something out. I called to complain and the little rude ugly man said he wasn't apologizing and advised I didn't tell him about the extra egg rolls and hung up. Total jerk. He wouldn't let me talk to the lady that runs the restaurant and he said the owner is in Taiwan. He said he runs the place. I'd like to mention, they only do delivery and pickup orders, now. I've been coming to this restaurant since I was 12 years old. I'll be 24 this month. Let me start off by saying this is the best hands down Chinese restaurant in all of kingwood/Houston. I don't live in Kingwood anymore but each time I visit I have to get an order. I'm not kidding when I say this is the BEST Chinese food. I recommend the orange chicken and fried rice. Rudest people ever. Food is average at best and not sure who they think they are. They forgot part of our order and then said they would have the driver come back. Never showed. Then when it was brought to their attention the next time we ordered all they wanted to do is argue and tell us we were wrong. This is the third time it's happened. The food is really good the delivery and take out is awful! I decided to give it another try so I went in and do a take out order! Very pleasant got the food! Before I left I asked if there was soy sauce and other sauces in the bag! They answered yes! I get home and open the sack because they had stapled it shut! Only one soy sauce not any other sauces for a order of fried rice and a order of Vietnamese spring rolls! YES ONLY ONE SOY SAUCE!!!! I just wanted everyone who uses Yelp to know this! Have always been wanting to try and finally decided to stop in. The decor is outdated but I really liked it. It reminded me of Chinese restaurants I would go to when I was growing up in the 90's. The food is great. But, the employees are rude. I have been there a lot of times, and there is only one waitress I like. I have an autistic brother who doesn't have many social skills. He also has a service dog. He burps loudly in the restaurant without noticing what he did wrong, and all of the employees stare. That is unacceptable customer service. When my family and I brought in his service dog, they looked absolutely horrified. It is required by law to let a service dog into a restaurant without questioning it.
