Best General Tso's I've ever had-- The flavoring isn't what gets you, which is understandable considering there isn't much room for differentiation for the dish, but they do an absolute perfect job of making sure the texture keeps each and every bite a funjoyable experience. I always get the General Tso's lunch combo special which comes with white/fried rice and a fried vegetable roll-- all for just $6.99 or so. I pay a little extra to upgrade into a fried egg roll. The hot and sour soup here is also one of the best I've had. I literally NEVER use the fried crackers which always accompany the soups in Americanized Chinese restaurants but I do eat the ones they give here. They are wider than the ones you usually see and pack a wild crunch, even when they get semi-soggy in the soup. read more

Normally when I get Chinese food there is nothing bad to say but this was terrible. I ordered from this restaurant via DoorDash and the delivery was great! My food was still hot & fresh. However the food itself....not so much. I ordered garlic chicken and the sauce wasn't the best and there was very little chicken. Like maybe 6 strips of chicken at the most and the rest was all vegetables which is something any customer wouldn't be very happy about after spending $15. I accidentally ordered from here last night thinking it was a different Chinese restaurant with "Hunan" in it's name. I should of known when they let me place an order under $15! That was definitely a plus. The Bean Curd w/ Broccoli in Garlic Sauce was surprisingly really good! Good size portion. A little on the spicy side. Tofu not too firm or soft.The Crab Rangoon on the other hand was slightly disappointing. At first I was excited because it came with special homemade red sauce (not duck sauce packets). However, there wasn't enough filling/cheese in the pockets. And the pockets were a bit too crispy, overcooked. I was mainly dipping crisp bread into the sauce. Thankfully the bean curd made up for it. Would probably order again to see how the rest of the menu is. Fast delivery as well. read more

This place has truly gone downhill this year. Order any of the orange, sesame or general tsos Chickens and you'll find out first hand. The chicken has become dry, tough and almost un-chewable. I doubt that this chicken is fresh at all. It's sad to say this, but I'm gonna have to stop ordering from this place. Bad food and worse service. I do not recommend this place to anyone. They were wrong with the order, and as they took so long the food arrived cold. They did not deliver sauces or chopsticks or forks so that we could eat. The super rude dealer demanding 20% ​​tip even when we were explaining that the service had not been any good, and as we decided not to leave that 20% tip they were calling us all afternoon to claim it until by Yelp they loaded that amount automatically. Yelp helped us and says that they will make the refund in 5 days. How dare they make a charge on a card without even authorization? Totally bad this place. read more

A clean, but generally non-descript small business in a strip mall. The food was a bit heavy on the soy sauce and so rather on the salty side. But the flavors were fine and the price reasonable. If you are looking for decent, but not exceptional Chinese food with an American touch, this is the place for you. read more

My first time ordering with them, I just finished eating, I'm pleasantly surprised! The food was sooo fresh and sooooo tasty! I usually drive over 20 minutes to get Pekín duck in an old mom and pops shop, because how picky I'm with the quality, tonight I decided to try this place, (they even have a 1/2 duck option), it was amazing! everything was there, freshness, crispness, seasoning on point but the super plus was the they give me a lot more of the onions and the sauces!, and pancakes were as much as I get for a whole duck on my regular place! (And the pancakes were tender and more flavorful here too lol). I was super complicated with a dish for my husband because his healthy diet and they did it perfectly and were no greedy about the amount of extra especial sauce they send me, the ladies that took my call were extra helpful and the driver was divine, I can't remember the last time a food delivery guy smile at me, lol this gentleman was super pleasant and attentive, he keep a sincere smile the whole time. Food quantity/price was fine but the quality could have been better. Vegetables seemed fresh but the meat was sub-par compared to my go-to Chinese food place and the dish was excessively salty. This is my go-to Chinese takeout spot. I order from here more often than I'd like to admit, but am almost never disappointed (aside from in myself for my lack of self-control...). I usually order either pick-up or delivery through GrubHub and my food is always either early or perfectly on-time. Our favorites are the wonton soup, steamed meat dumplings, spring rolls, egg rolls, fried chicken wings, chicken lo mein, chicken chow fun, taiwanese style rice noodles with beef, or chicken with broccoli. And always ask for some chili oil! I will say, sometimes the quality is hit or miss - sometimes a bit too greasy, other times a bit dry. But I always think the taste is good, especially for a quick, convenient takeout place! The service is pretty friendly, but I've never eaten in the restaurant to see what it's like beyond a greeting and handing over my order. I will say, the very few times when something was wrong with our order, they weren't exactly the most customer-service-oriented, and were reluctant to either give a refund or replace an item, but GrubHub takes care of most of that for me. Overall, this isn't going to be a luxury dining experience, and it probably isn't the best Chinese food in the world, but compared to a lot of the Chinese takeout in the area, I think it's pretty great. This is the second time I've ordered from here and both times the driver was extremely rude. One time he looked at me and asked, "That's it?" And I said yes thinking he was asking if my order was ok. In actuality, he wanted to know where his tip was. He even went as far as to show me the receipt where I hadn't added in a tip. I tried to explain to him that I requested a tip be added after the fact because I had forgotten to add it initially, but I don't think his English was that great so he had no idea what I was talking about. Consistently decent. We order delivery from here- after trying a variety of places that failed. Hunan Kitchen manages to fill the need when we're craving. They're fast, reliable, you can count on the standard "americanized" menu, and the portions are large. I love their slightly greasy egg foo young. Also- they always have coupons for that little extra- free rice, crab rangoon, or chicken wings. Like Larry said in his June review, nothing spectacular, but in the little burg that is Annandale, this is my go-to- guy for chinese food. If i hadn't spent the past three years that i've lived in the DC area looking for a decent chinese place, then this might be just a 4, but there is a certain amount of relief that I FINALLY found a decent place that makes this place seem that much better. Its not perhaps the most authentic but it is well made authentic hole-in-the-wall chinese, which i grew up with and love. Truely authentic chinese in DC is still something that I haven't found, but at least I have a place I know i can go and get something reliably good. This place is surprisingly good! It's our new take-out place for Chinese. The lo mein is on point and so is the eggplant with garlic. Everything is typical Chinese take-out food, but the quality of the food is very clean and quite tasty, without being loaded with MSG either! They accept online orders through Yelp, which is totally convenient because they get pretty packed. I don't know why I didn't discover this gem earlier. read more

I have only eaten here once but I really enjoyed it. I ordered General Tso's Chicken extra spicy and it actually had heat to it. Most places (ever single Chinese place I have ordered from in NoVA) I order spicy or extra spicy and it is still sweet too me with no heat. This place did it right. The rice was cooked right and my Wonton soup was tasty. I will definitely be ordering from here more often. I told him I could be home in 15 minutes if he could wait for me, since I was still driving home from work. He said "ok." When I arrived, the driver was gone and the food was hanging on my door handle. On top of that, the food was cold. Best sweet and sour pork probably ever. Most sweet and sour dishes are too soggy with no tatse, I could eat the meat without sauce it's delish! Chinese donuts were good once too much sugar on them. But we come here about 3 times a month. So happy they are open until 10:30. read more

Hands down, Barr none the best Chinese food I've ever had- even our Chinese mailman agrees- I saw him in there once & he said it's the best Chinese food around. Try the hot and sour soup- it's absolutely the best my husband and I have ever had, they make homemade crunchy noodles to go with it- I usually hate those dry noodles- but these are amazing!
