Offering coffee, lattes, matcha, ice tea and a few pastry options. It's quiet with a loud playlist, with a few small tables and some seatings outside, open to the public. The cafe was managed by 1 lovely barista/cashier/staff... she ran the whole operation. Taking orders - making my latte - and cleaning all around the cafe. Hungry Ghost is consistent with their well made drinks and service. I don't frequent coffee shops as much as I use but I find myself returning to Hungry Ghost when I want my favorite: Oat Vanilla Latte. I have also tried their cold brew. They have a points card (10 drinks = 1 free drink). They also offer pastries. The service is always friendly and welcoming. Good coffee with a friendly barista. The vibes inside are cool. Make sure you get a punch card, because they have locations all around the city! This place is dietary restriction-friendly with lots of different milk options. I ordered an iced latte with regular milk, and it hit the spot. If you've ever been in a Hungry Ghost, this location offers the same as all the others: reliable quality when it comes to coffee, tea, and some tasty pastries if you need a little more sustenance. This one is also conveniently located across from the park, in case your stupid baby falls asleep when they weren't supposed to and you need a place to sit a minute, drink some tea, and relax. Just opened this morning (9/13/19) and boy what a quick turnaround after Canteen closed 7/31. First impression: nice space, very similar set up as before. Baristas are quick, efficient and cool. Coffee is all Stumptown. So I feel split about the Stumptown thing. On one hand I can quickly grab my fav cold brew and go if I don't have time to go to the real one on Pacific. Great. Downside is the real one is a much much better space AND has loyalty cards, so I'm gonna get some free from time to time. I also wish they maintained the same value Smith Canteen had, which was to be more sustainable by encouraging use of your own cup or opt for a for here one. Summarizing thought: go here if you need to grab coffee quick before work. So convenient. read more

Honestly one of my favorite Brooklyn coffee shops, especially because they are SO consistent! They have their own custom Stumptown blend that has very pleasant, mild chocolate and caramel flavor notes, and they also sell bags of Stumptown's single origin beans, which I love. Their pastries can be a little hit or miss, but I like the whole wheat banana bread when I want something on the healthier side. The real clutch move here though is the King David breakfast tacos. They're really good, and already prepped so it's a perfect quick breakfast. Their iced lattes are some of my favorite come summertime, and the aesthetic of their cafes is super cute for when you can sit inside! read more

I used to come here every morning but stopped since the quarantine, it was Smith Canteen back then but now is replaced by Hungry Ghost, the decor doesn't change much but the quality has always been so good. Came back this morning for my best duo jasmine tea and chocolate croissant, had never tried the strawberry croissant so I got myself one (sorry forgot to take pics because couldn't wait to eat it ) and also got a hot latte for my friend. Tbh this place has never disappointed me. The male staff this morning was so helpful and super friendly, too bad I forgot to ask his name, would give him a 10/10 for customer service . Good coffee, environment is fine, and we finally got used to the style of giving the drink order twice--first to the barista and then to the cashier. It was an awkward transition from Smith Canteen. But when did an americano become $4? The prices here are just so much higher than any of the other cafes I frequent, more than the hipper Brooklyn neighborhoods and even more than Noho, where I work, it's just ridiculous. They also don't offer a discount for bringing a reusable cup. At this point there's no incentive to buy my coffee here. read more

Ordered egg sandwich on biscuit. Waited more than 15 minutes. For the price of three perfectly serviceable egg and cheeses from the deli, I got a dense salty brick of cheddar biscuit with overcooked egg on it and what appeared to be melted goat cheese. I asked for pepper jack. I ate it anyway because it was pretty pricey. I'm sure it met my caloric requirements for the day - it was that dense. Coffee might be great - don't know because I won't be back. Or maybe if you're a real Stumptown connoisseur - go for it - the barista seemed very competent. I would know because I got to watch him for 15 plus minutes. But avoid the egg sandwich. FWIW the staff outside the kitchen - the ones I saw - seemed quick and the place is clean and tidy. The cappuccinos are a hit or a miss. The iced cappuccino is solid. But surprisingly their croissants are delicious.
