We try to stop by whenever we're in town. Above average food at a good price. The place is always clean.

I haven't gone yet but I've read two reviews saying the owner is trash so heck you owner. The food sounds nice, though. yum yum.

I highly recommend the Hungry Harbor they have great prime rib dinners Fri and Sat night. But the oyster burger is fabulous also. Sunday breakfast buffet is the best in town. read more

This place refused to give me a cup for my daughter to drink out of without purchasing a fountain drink...even though the juice cost more money and was a healthier option for my child. Cheap and classless, in my opinion. For standard diner fare, you should at least serve up good customer service. read more

My family went here because the lady from the motel where we were staying said it had good food. Well I would never send anyone here. The food was not good. My daughter's fish and chips had hair on it and when she showed the cook he was very rude and continued to talk about us to his fellow workers which we could still hear them. We were really hungry so we stopped in here for some burgers. I'm a pretty picky eater & usually have trouble deciding. But I saw their Beach Burger & thought "yes"!!! Grilled pineapple, onions, pickles, tomato & lettuce with teriyaki sauce! I got it with chicken. It came & I took a couple bites. It was good, but not the taste I was the expecting. So I opened it to see lettuce, tomato & a chicken patty. We asked Snarky Sydney at the counter about it & she said oh that's the chicken burger, the cooks must have read the ticket wrong & walked away. No offer was made for a replacement or anything. I was too hungry to have waited anyway. But guess what? The burger I paid for was more expensive than the burger I got. So we asked for the difference back. Again dealing with Snarky Sydney, who rolled her eyes the whole time & didn't want to give us the difference. She said "well she was already eating it, so we didn't make a new one". So three things I learned: 1. terrible customer service 2. obviously the cooks can't read. If you see Beach Burger and think it says Chicken Burger, there is a big problem. 3. you should assume they made you the wrong food & check it before you eat it. Worse experience in long beach. Came cause good smelled good ordered halibut and chips and my order came out salmon and chips. Took it back and then the halibut came out. It was okay over cooked. Wife had cod and it tasted like from a bag. The shrimp cocktail was slimy and down right disgusting. Like I was eating baby slimy shrimp. Lady was nice and kind. Wife had enough and went next door to pizza. That was actually good. Save the 43 dollars for 2.5 people and get pizza or go to castaways! Still bad but I understand tourist area read more

We just spent over $35.00 on a 3 pc. halibut & chips, clams & chips, and 2 small sodas. When we requested a little more cocktail sauce it was an additional 25 cents! All of it overcooked. The fish was dry, the clams (small pieces the size of dimes) were rubbery (overcooked) and the fries were burned. For this amount of money we could have had a nice dinner. Terrible customer service, directly from the owner!! I was excited to try this place with my cousins, who are regular customers. I was the 7th person in my group of 9 to order and all before me ordered meals, apps, shakes, etc. When I went up to order I ordered a meal and was asked directly--twice--if I wanted to order a drink. I said "no, thank you" respectfully both times. I was asked again and told I could pay for a bottled water. I smiled and said "oh, I'm fine, I have my own water with me." The employee (who I later learned was the owner) glared at me and said "you're not allowed to bring ANY outside drinks or food in here." I said "I can't drink my own water?" He said "no, you can buy a bottle of water for $0.25." He then repeated the rule about outside water. I told him I would drink nothing then and he handed me my bill. I found him extremely rude and cannot believe what poor customer service he had!! Pushing money for water, not offering any free options for tap water, and on top of that selling plastic water bottles that will likely end up in the ocean across the street. I are with my family out of obligation but left thirsty, as I was pissed about the attitude he gave me and I don't buy plastic bottles on principle (WHICH IS WHY I CARRY TAP WATER IN MY PURSE). So unimpressed with the owner's arrogant, shitty attitude toward polite, respectful, paying customers. I will not be back. read more

Still one of my favorite restaurants in the Long Beach area. As a local, this is my default place to send people for lunch, dinner, and (the best) clam chowder. Prices are reasonable and the staff has always been wonderful. read more

Why would I ever give a perfect rating to a burger joint? First, this restaurant is not a fast food behemoth flipping pink slime with not taste. Burgers are brown when cooked, not grey. They make milkshakes with, of all things, with real vanilla ice cream, real milk and real chocolate (not the fake chocolaty) syrup. The hamburgers are huge, the fries are very good. The only burgers that equal these are served at the Depot on Wednesdays.No warming lights and no chemicals in sight. Very good clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl. Bottled water is only a quarter. Very pleasant staff. Will definitely be back.

We were very impressed by the halibut and cod. It tasted delicious and did not get soggy when drizzled with lemon juice. The coleslaw was also amazing and was unique with the raisins they added to it. We were not, however, impressed with the fries. They were not over-salted, but were virtually tasteless and only tasted passable when doused in lemon juice and tartar sauce. read more

Came in at the end of the night on hot busy Friday. They were only serving orders to go. The service and the quality of food were fantastic. You would really never know it was the end of a busy shift. The owners and the young kids working there all seem to enjoy the heck out of the work they do. The food was far overpriced for what we received. My burger had no flavor, BBQ was watery and weak, the "sautéed" onions were raw. The 20 dollar fish and chips were pre-frozen Van De Kamps looking hockey pucks, not the fresh, hand dipped pieces we were told. The tartar sauce was basically just mayo. My family visited the Hungry Harbor while vacationing in Long Beach during Spring Break. Our timeshare desk recommended the Hungry Harbor for the burgers. We grabbed dinner there having a kids burger, a couple of chicken burgers, a halibut burger and a bacon cheddar burger. The owner threw in a couple of kids drinks for my other two kids that ordered off the full menu and honored a verbal coupon that we saw at the local movie theater. All five of us ate for just over $40. Everyone enjoyed the meal and they all the orders came with a bunch of fries. My oldest kid upgraded to the onion rings which were huge. I enjoyed the bed of shredded lettuce and a great big tomato on my burger. That is usually where places skimp on the toppings. I would have given more stars but the chicken patty burger was just OK for me (vs a chicken breast), but to be fair- I knew what I was getting. We ended up chatting with the owners and they were super nice. As we were talking, they offered the kids free ice cream cones. I love small businesses with great customer service and friendly. We will definitely stop back by here and recommend to others. read more

This place gives you so pretty tasty food and they give you a lot food for a great price! I always get the kid's meal because of how much food they give. I love their tater sauce! I am really picky about my tarter sauce so to say that I love it means a lot! I like the way it is decorated the owners go all out for the holidays! read more

It's been a year since we have been here and we live in long beach, that should tell you how much we don't like this place. The staff are a young teenagers that are snotty and rude. My husband asked them for a extra cup because he was chewing after we had ordered 50 dollars worth of food, and she said she would have to charge us for a full drink, instead of just charging us for a cup. Most places would charge no more than 75 cents for a cup not 3 dollars for a cup. They are also very exspensive on their food. Charging extra for any additional item. This place is a rip off. When we had walked up before we even walked into the building, a man yelled at us don't order here, they take over a hour to make your food. so that just shows right there, they don't care about customers or losing them. read more

Whenever I need a good cheeseburger "fix" I go to Hungry Harbor. You will get a hot burger with melted cheese, fresh lettuce, sliced tomato, onion and pickle if you so desire. Too big to fit your mouth around! The price includes a good sized serving of fries but the dipping sauces will cost you 25 cents more. The shakes are handmade and wonderful. This is our go to place when we want a good meal but don't want to spend an arm and a leg. The prices are no more than the other restaurants in the area and to me, the food is fresher, and more consistent. Oh, and we really enjoy the staff. They are friendly and eager to please. We always recommend Hungry Harbor to out of town folks who are asking for a good place to eat. read more

Great Burgers- Juicy, tender and tasty! Generous portions so come hungry. Food is cooked to order, and service is fast, friendly and courteous. There are many seafood choices on the menu also- and a kid's menu too. The dinner specials during the week are also great, and the Sunday Buffet is great and many locals attend, which is a testament to the food. The chowder was really good. And the fish and chips were tasty. The fries were just ok. We went one day and when we ordered chowder, they asked us if we wanted 8oz, 12 oz, 16 oz, or a bread bowl. When we went back the next day to get chowder to take back to the house, we asked for a 16 oz order. The lady working at the counter was incredibly rude and acted like we were stupid. She said they don't make that size. Then continued to stock waters in the fridge and ignored us. It seemed as though she didn't want our business. No! Horrible service just to get TWO CUPS OF COFFEE! We went in, not crowded, not too busy, and ordered two coffees, waited 20 minutes while many of the order numbers that ordered meals after us, were called well after ours. Then we asked 3 different employees about our coffees, and no one could come up with a solution. Finally after 20 minutes, we walked up to the cashier and demanded a refund. I am a local and I have been there quite a few times. The last three times the food was either tough/overcooked or soggy. I ordered an oyster burger to go, NO SAUCES. I got home about 10 minutes later, the bun was so soggy from the sauces that I had to throw the bun away. The hamburger patty went to my dog. The hamburger patty was only half cooked !!! This is also a safety issue. Three strikes, yer' out !! Never again...My wife and I spent $37.00 on this order and got nothing but disappointment !! read more

This place gets a fat zero. The 1 star was an accident!!!!The owner is horrible and completely untrusting of his customers. He kicked a family out with small kids just because they were making their kids some sandwiches and were going to purchase something for themselves but never got a chance. C'mon, anyone that has kids should think this is crazy!! We were traveling for work and I forgot my lunch but my friend had her sandwich. To be respectful she purchased some fries to eat with her sandwich and I purchased fish and chips and water. The owner stood next to our table and told us about the family with small kids he kicked out and made my friend put her sandwich away. So ridiculous!! He had signs everywhere about customers only and no outside food, so unappealing! In addition they charge for water! Owner stated it was because his customers take advantage of him and say they want water and get soda.... Please. Oh and the food.... Nothing special at all. Fish and chips totally sucked. Zero flavor, I get better fish from Safeway. I will not be going back here and I am spreading the word! read more
