This place has the best pizza and the friendliest staff. If you are ever in the area, I would definitely recommend grabbing a bite to eat.

On my way out of town from Gun Lake, I stopped at Curly Cone about 6 miles from the casino, and…read morehonestly, it ended up being one of the highlights of the trip. At first glance, it looks like a small ice cream stand, but it's grown into much more. There's a farm stand, a catering truck, and a full menu that goes way beyond desserts. They serve breakfast all day, along with burgers, shakes, and classic diner-style food. When we went around 9:30 a.m. on a Wednesday, it was packed with locals, which is usually a good sign. The food really stood out. The bacon was easily the best part--thick, meaty, perfectly cooked, with a rich smoky flavor that tasted like it came straight from a local farm, not a package. The home fries were another highlight, with chunks of potatoes and long strands of caramelized onions that felt very nostalgic and homemade, like something you'd get from your grandmother's kitchen. The atmosphere is very old-school diner. Lots of booth seating, a counter where you can sit and order like the classic milkshake-and-coffee spots, and an overall cozy, small-town vibe. The service matched that feel too--the waitress was extremely friendly and welcoming. One thing to note: it was very cold inside. It was about 26° outside that morning, but I still had to keep my coat on while eating, which took away from the comfort a bit. There's not a ton immediately around it--just a gas station across the street and a Mexican restaurant next door (which was closed when we went), though there are a few more options a short drive away. Overall, Curly Cone is a hidden gem. It may look like an ice cream stop, but it delivers a full, satisfying diner experience with standout breakfast food and a strong local feel. Just maybe keep your coat handy if you're visiting in the winter.

I looked up Judd's online before making the approximate 30 minute drive and was surprised to see they took reservations. Never knowing how busy they might be, I made one and was glad I did because when I arrived, there was only one table available besides the one I reserved. We were promptly shown to our table and greeted by our server Aubree. I would describe the menu as bar food on steroids. A full list of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, pizzas and a few "main course" items are on the menu. It was also $3.00 margarita night (and they were quite good!) We were in the mood for burgers so that's what we ordered. We both ordered burgers and upgraded to the hand cut fries. Both were excellent. We both ordered medium rare. They were cooked perfectly and tasted great. When we go to a new place, we always look around to see what others are eating. We saw a pretty good cross section of the menu all of which looked good. I asked about the hand breaded chicken tenders. Rather than tell me, Aubree brought both of us a sample. They are a real possibility when we come again. (or maybe one of us will order bluegill, and the other a "Mother Clucker" which are chicken tenders and share). I need to devote a paragraph to our server Aubree. The restaurant was packed and she took care of each table like they were her only customer. Her service was so north of outstanding I think I'd go back even if the food wasn't so good. Another great find!!!

Ambiance was a typical local bar but felt clean and tidy. It was 5pm on a weekday and the bar area was mostly single men and the dining room was mostly older couples.

The second time was pretty good; not too memorable honestly. This third time, there were good and less good parts. The service was pretty good; the waitress was attentive and calm, but it did take awhile to get our red wine glasses for dinner. We wanted a side of "fresh seasonal vegetables" which was $6 for 5-6 small pieces of asparagus; even our waitress admitted that was a bit weak and that she'd take it off our receipt, but she never did and I felt weird asking about it. Two entrees were the filet mignon which were pretty good and well-cooked, but very small in size (no more than 4 oz). I ordered the beef wellington special, which I had to send back the first time because it was clearly undercooked; the second one was slightly better and I think letting it rest longer helped. The service was just not particularly nice about me sending back the first wellington, even though it was clearly undercooked. The dessert was really good - mixed berry crumbled with delicious vanilla ice cream. I'm not sure that I will feel as inclined to come back again after 2 subpar experiences now.

Fairly open space and large and lots of room. Felt bad for our server because she was the only one until reinforcements came at. I think it was 5 o'clock for evening rush and there were a lot of extra helpers by that point so things were a little slow before then but understandably. The the servers were all at least friendly and accommodating. Food was all right. I got the nachos and it wasn't as appealing as the picture on the menu, the cut chicken was good. The salsa I will say was amazing and they were kind and getting me more upon request I think it might be willies or just another more fresh salsa, but the nachos were kind of lacking some layers and we're a little skim on the toppings, if you follow me, you know I get nachos everywhere and unfortunately, these were a little lacking but again the salsa really saved it all. Kids liked the chicken tenders and my wife's burger was good. The burgers are what they're more so known for I believe. Next time we're in the area we may venture and try another spot but not saying this wouldn't keep us from coming back but just exploring options.
