I heard a lot about Hungry's so I thought I would try it. The restaurant has a cool hipster vibe which I like but the food is not so great. All of their traditional meals have a southwestern twist that I didn't expect or really enjoy haha. I had the french toast which was grilled croissants with syrup. If I could provide 0 stars I would. I visited this restaurant with my mother and sister on Sunday. We were seated and choose outdoor seating. We sat at the table for 20 minutes no one came to take a drink order or even ask if it was our first time. My sister went inside to ask can someone come an take our order and the waiter said he'll send someone. Not even 2 minutes later 3 young ladies came and sat outdoors as well. The same waiter she spoken to came outside and assisted the young ladies before they could even sit. I have never felt like my money was not good enough. I would not suggest anyone to visit this restaurant if you plan being served or treated like a paying customer. Lesson learned, the prior reviews commented on the same issue. Let's talk about delivery. 1. multiple order/payments are not recommended and to prevent them from having to take multiple payments (over 2) they charge everyone the same amount across the board (i.e. if the grand total of the order comes out to $50.00 they split the payment evenly for everyone, so you are likely to pay more for what your food really costs) 2. Our office made the order at 10:30a.m. and we called approximately at 11:30a.m. to check the ETA of the order. We were then informed that delivery orders take an hour to an hour and a half. WOW! Thanks for telling us when making the inital order, it would have made a difference. 3. Hour 2 is upon us and we are waiting for our food, we called and the driver got lost (ok, it happens ... again just added time for us to wait) 4. YES! Food is finally here ...and they left out a dessert item that someone ordered, so before she could eat she had to go make the call, request to be refunded.. The food was pretty good though!! The orzo pasta is the reason alone I'm writing this review. It is amazing, and I'm not even a fan of pasta salads. This orzo pasta is more than just Italian dressing and some olives thrown in like most pasta salads. It's got multiple layers of flavor and a good mix of diced roasted veggies. This was my first experience with them catering, and I would definitely choose them over Jason's Deli - not just for price, but service as well. The sandwiches were nicely put together. The bread wasn't hard. The variety was good. Everyone loved the cookies. Even the ice was put in a nice ice cooler vs. Jason's who uses buckets for everything. read more

I love Hungry's. Their food is consistently good, presentation is great and service is awesome. Prices can be a bit high for some dishes, like the lemon pasta, but they generally prepare fabulous food. Some favorites are the quinoa salad (with grilled salmon), shrimp tacos and chicken gyro pita with their delicious fries. So happy to have them in the neighborhood! read more

Hungry's is an energy corridor classic. It has healthy food. It also has a lounge type bar and a really good patio that stays open late. This is one of the few places in the area geared toward a younger crowd, so it's pretty much a go to place in the area. By "geared toward a younger crowd," I mean it has modern decor and stays open late. This area is an older part of town so that's rare here. It's a great place to eat during regular hours regardless of age. I'm docking them a star because I didn't really like my cocktail on the last visit. A better cocktail menu is needed but otherwise this is a great place. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. To be fair, I didn't have a chance to eat the food, this review is purely based on customer service. I called before making the drive over, to ask if their patio was dog friendly. I've been to the location near West U, and have seen dogs on their patio multiple times, but figured better safe than sorry. The gentleman who answered the phone said, "of course, it's no problem!" I said "great, we'll be there shortly." I arrived before the friend who was meeting me there, also with her dog...and decided to go ahead and head toward the restaurant. I walk up, and ask the valet, for patio seating was it self-seat or should I wait, signaling at my pup...he says "oh, you just pick a table." Within a minute, a man walks out to the patio toward the table. Him: Unfortunately, we don't allow dogs on our patio Me: Oh, well I called before, and the person who answered the phone said that you did (the expression on his face and noticeable eye roll while I was talking was a nice touch) Him: Oh, no, my staff knows we don't allow dogs due to the Houston codes...one of my servers actually pointed you out when they saw you walking up, which is why I came out here Me: Ok...well I wouldn't have just shown up with my dog, or invited a friend to meet me with her dog without calling to see if t was ok, first Him: I'm sorry, but my staff knows...or maybe he thought it was a service dog (really? If she were a service dog, I wouldn't have called in the first place because they'd have been required to allow her - good thing she wasn't, he didn't even ask before all of this ensued.) Me: I wish I hadn't driven all the way here, which is why I called. (I then pull out my phone because I get the strong feeling he doesn't believe I called, based on his tone and him saying 'my staff knows'...show him my call history and point out the call and ask if that's their number, his tone changes) Him: Yes, that's us - do you remember who you talked to? Me: No, he had a slight accent (Why would I? I called your place of business to ask a question; isn't it assumed the person answering your phone knows what they're talking about?) Him: oh, I think I may know who you spoke to Me:.....(wasn't sure what to say to that) Him: Houston has a list online of what restaurants have the permits to have dogs on patios Me: ok, well I'm here because I called..and wish I hadn't driven here based on what the person answering the phone said Him: me too Mind you during this exchange, he was actually escorting me off the patio. Am I mad he didn't allow me to stay? No, laws and codes are what they are. Am I mad at how this exchange was handled? Yes. When 2 individuals representing your company (the man answering the phone who, regardless of role, answered your business phone...and the valet, who may have been a contractor, but still is on your property providing a service), say explicitly or imply the same thing...as a manager who's contradicting them, that's not how you respond. I've worked in restaurants before, and as a manager, when things like this happen...you don't get combative, and try to justify or defend, you just apologize. Despite living pretty close to Hungry's on Memorial, based on this encounter - I'll never be back. read more

I broke bread here from the time it was off Kirkwood and Memorial before its current location just a few minutes west down Memorial. A lot has changed. I would say they were the first restaurant in my area to hop on the health food cuisine trend. Really tried to like this place. The dishes were well put together and creative. But nearly everything that I ate there I could easily either find better at another restaurant or make myself at home better. I said nearly everything because there were some items that were out of my "culinary range". Breakfast and brunch is pretty good. But really...eggs, cheese, bacon, sausage. these are amazing breakfast foods in any combination. You could throw healthy food on top of that and everyone will still like it. Why? Bacon...that's why. Pros: - Any three egg omelette "Hungrys Way" (get bacon) - Crab Cake Benedict (already terribly good and then put crab on it...one of the few things taht its good compared to other places. - Migas (I like it with a dash of Tabasco sauce) Cons: - Bistro Salad (I dont get why they can't have a normal Caesar Salad along side their Southwest Chipotle Caesar...) - The Wraps ( had it three separate times and still had the same feeling) - Gyro and Kabab plates (seriously, better places in West Houston if not Houston in general) - Creative attempts at fusing cuisines...but often not appealing to me So yeah, I've had better (breakfast withstanding). read more

I've never actually been to Hungry's but I had a work meeting Friday and that's what they provided for lunch. The boss lady provided us with the chicken Greek market salad, tomato basil soup, tortilla, and brownies. I gave the tomato and tortilla to a co worker... And man did it look fluffy and smelt delicious. She loved it. Also gave the co worker the brownie and my cousin and sister the other piece. Didnt hear much gave from the coworker, but she prefers crispy brownies. I am finally eating the salad as I'm writing this. Its plentiful to begin with. The color is nice, chicken is tender enough with nice marks of the grill, and the dressing is fabulous. I can't say anything bad about hungrys, other than it isn't my "go to" spot for a particular dish. It just a good place with high quality food that isn't too heavy or unhealthy. Is that a bad thing? The service? It's great, never had anything but positives to say, especially after the manager was going table to table to warn someone about a problem with one car in the parking lot (not mine, so I never knew what happened). The food is fresh, always cooked to perfection and they are light and healthy; even the unhealthy things seem lighter here. Their burgers are definitely the case. From pizzas, to my favorite, their signature wraps, Hungrys has something for everyone. Ya know, that is probably why I keep coming back here. I know everyone with me will get just what they want. Quick service, there's a walk up counter that you can order from and your food will be brought to you - so if you don't have time to talk to the waiter/waitress, this seems like a good option. Otherwise service is the same between traditional sit-down versus counter ordering. The food is pretty solid; I had only been to the other Hungry's location in Rice Village, but it tastes pretty similar though there are some subtle differences in how your food is presented to you, no big deal though. Plenty of parking, not sure what the valet situation is here since the booth exists, but there are plenty of spaces you can pull into on your own. Came here around 10 AM on a Saturday with my baby sister and dad. I just finished a 3 mile run so I was ready for some good food. Coffee, small cups so had to get it refilled often, but our server was good at being attentive. Ordered Southwest Wrap - very good, very filling. Fresh. Sister ordered Belgian Waffles - oh so sweet and fluffy. Dad ordered the Eggs Benedict - pretty good portion, could invest in a better Hollandaise sauce. The runner brought the wrong food the first time, but they quickly fixed it. HOWEVER: at the end the server disappeared for 12 minutes after he took our plates and cleaned the table. We had to ask someone to find him so we could pay. If you start to clean the table at breakfast/brunch, immediately ask if they are ready for the check. we sat with no coffee, no plates, no anything for 12 minutes. Frustrating. Good food. read more

This was my first time here & loved it. The place is nice & cozy right off the bat. The waitstaff were all friendly & attentive. I went with my dad who had been there before & thought I would enjoy it too. He wasn't wrong! I had the Classic Grilled Chicken Baguette and it was very delicious. The fries that came with it were ok. I'm not a big fry person, so most fries don't impress me. My dad had the Mediterranean Wrap & it looked delicious. It came with wedge salad. Tried this place out for breakfast last weekend. Huevos Rancheros are delicious! My husband has the Miya's and they looked wonderful also. Love that they have complimentary breads and homemade jams to nibble on while waiting for your food. OJ was fresh squeezed and coffee was strong. We will defiantly be back here! It was Sunday before dark and Hungry's was renovating their main dining area so we were ushered next-door to the bar area. The air conditioning duct dripped onto the table we were taken so we had to move to another table. The help never thought to turn on the overhead lights in the bar area when It got dark. The waiter was helpful enough in ordering, but never checked on us again after he brought our food. The help slammed the chairs together at the table next to us as they cleaned it. It was obvious that the help was tired from the inconvenience of major renovations that were ongoing. Absolutely love this place! I've been here quite a few times. It's one of my favorite places by my House. My server Eddie was especially helpful. I have a vegetarian diet and special eating requirements. Eddie helped me select something new from the menu. I had the black bean orzo pasta salad. It comes with chicken so it was boxed up for my dog without ever touching my food. Eddie helped me pick out a great cocktail too. I got the Mermaid and it was very refreshing. Sad at how anti customer service this place is now. I had the tenderloin tacos and each taco had one piece of meat. Lots of lettuce and jalapeños. $15 later I wasn't full. The rest of the family didn't like theirs as well. Not headed back. Oh and they kept trying to take our plates away while we still had food in our mouths chewing. Nothing more frustrating than eager beaver service people trying to rush you out by taking away your plate when you still have food on the plate and a bite in your mouth.
