Was visiting family in Houston and decided to try this place.... glad we did. A very classy casual restaurant with very nice, albeit busy, ambiance ....as it seems like a popular lunch spot for the local office crowd. Service was very good, friendly, and attentive... food was just as good, and came out pretty fast. We all went with the 2 course lunch offering, which turned out to be a really great deal. We ordered the Ceviche with chips, Gumbo, Wedge, Tuna Osaka, Trout, Cheeseburger, and Fish Sandwich...... the Wedge and Fish Sandwich were for me. Everything was absolutely delicious! Ok, our fries came out rather luke warm, but our server was more than happy to have them replaced with really fresh and hot fries. Ingredients were very fresh, everything prepared just right, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their orders. A very nice place for a delicious lunch, in a very comfortable and classy casual environment, with great service. And again, the 2 course lunches are a great deal! We had an enjoyable experience here celebrating a family member's birthday. The decor is comfortable but upscale. There was parking in the lot as it's located in a shopping center. They have a very big menu with a wide range of offerings for brunch. They have pancakes, French toast, Benedicts, shrimp & grits, streak and more! And, they do have a kids menu available as well. Our table enjoyed a few appetizers including the crab cakes and bruschetta. I ordered the chicken & waffles which was a very well-seasoned flattened chicken breast laid on top of a Belgium waffle. I enjoyed those but did not like the grits. There was a flavor, that I still can't put my finger on, that just wasn't my cup of tea. Service was friendly but seemed a little frazzled. Forgetting bag of takeout food in the kitchen, 3 separate trips to bring coffee, sugar & a spoon, having to ask a couple of times for something. We enjoyed a celebration and try their salads--and they did not disappoint! The wedge salad with salmon was absolutely delicious, especially with the house dressing. The Ultimate Cobb Salad was honestly one of the best Cobb salads I've ever had. The service was fantastic. Everyone on the staff was polite and attentive. Great food, wonderful service, and a welcoming atmosphere make this a perfect spot. We're already looking forward to coming back! read more

The Valentine's Day set up and menu was perfect. I opted for the seafood bisque which was spectacular and the lamb chops. The chops were good but I would probably opt to try another dish next visit. The berry sauce that complimented the lamb chops wasn't my fave. Parking can be a bit tricky, and we didn't see any valet service, so plan accordingly. I would give this spot a 2.6/5 stars. I came here on a Wednesday night so thankfully parking wasn't too hard to find. The interior is polished and the bathrooms are nice and clean. For drinks, I started off with a Caramel Macchiato Martini. This was recommended by the waitress when I asked her for the bar's sweetest drink. Yes, it was sweet but it was also very boozy and had a strong alcohol aftertaste so I wasn't able to finish it but if you're someone who enjoys both sweet and boozy, this might be right up your alley! I got the bacon wrapped scallops for appetizers and even though the seasoning and flavor was decent, it was unfortunately too salty. For the entrée, I ended up getting the 16oz Traditional Ribeye. Contrary to the scallops, the steak was severely undersalted. As for the mashed potato, this was unfortuantely also a flop. The flavor of the mashed potato was more similar to a potato salad since it had that sour aftertaste as if there was a vinagerette-based dressing/seasoning in there. Regardless, I wasn't the biggest fan. Overall, the restaurant's layout was pretty, the service was fine, but the food didn't do it for me. read more

The portion sizes are the why I for sure will be back! So decided to pass by on a saturday around noon, first time here. Walked in, greeted right away and seated within 5 minutes. Restaurante was probably ¾ full. Server was really night and attentive, I do wish I remembered his name so I could've mentioned him specifically. We decided to get the chicken fried steak and salmon Benedict (I could be wrong on the name for the salmon item). Didn't wait too long for food, maybe 20 minutes? Honestly it was quicker than we had expected, didnt feel long so we were happy. The steak entree was huge, I was not expecting it to be so big and to basically be laid on top of a bed of fries. I loved the gravy that came on top of it, especially the added bacon bits. Fries were good too! I had plenty to take home of both thats for sure. My fiance did enjoy his meal as well! Both plates were big. We did enjoy a coffee afterwards as well and those were a big serving as well. Good experience and hope to be back soon. So this place describes its self as cajun style or influence. Babyy the season would like a word okay. I do believe that they season the food in correspondence with the clientele that patronages this particular location so I def need to visit the navigation location. I guess the the sports were happening on the TV by the bar and there was a lot of hollering and histrionics happening down to the bar and they were loud. The staff are friendly and they greeted me when I entered. I also appreciated the manager coming by and greeting us. He was very pleasant and endorsed their brunch offerings. The beverages were good I ordered a Paloma it was very tasty and mixed well. The ceasar salad was very tasty and small. I ordered the snapper with a side of garlic mashed potatoes yummy to the potatoes, more seasoning required for the fish. Not my fave but it was definitely fresh. My friend ordered the lobster tacos she said it was good and the crab cakes met her standard she's from the DMV. Lastly we ordered dessert and it excellent the server recommended I heat up the cake I should have because I did when I got home and it was clutch. We were there with our friends two days ago and the meal itself was excellent as usual. However, the service we received from our waiter was highly disappointing. From the moment we sat down, we felt incredibly rushed. He even cleared my friend's plate before she finished with her appetizer. Our entrees came almost immediately after. As soon as we finished our main courses, the waiter handed us the bill without even offering the dessert menu. At first, we assumed the staff was trying to close up since it was near 9pm. However, as we walked out, we noticed at least four other tables still dining on the other side of the restaurant. We felt unwelcome and hurried out the door, which really ruined what was supposed to be a relaxing night out with friends. read more

My sister planned a dinner at JTR to celebrate my milestone birthday. The food was very good, I especially enjoyed the calamari, crab cakes and "mac and cheese". The Nutella cheese cake was "awesome" The service was excellent, there was a birthday card in the table when we arrived. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. The restaurant entry is a great spot for a memorable photo, the dining room was dimly lit with soft music playing. I took my girifriend and her mother here for dinner on a Monday in late November. Right off Memorial drive next to OG Dish Society, I heard good things about The Rub with a couple locations in the Houston area. We wanted something with a variety of menu items with an upscale decor but not ultra fancy. This place definitely fit the bill for that and left us with one of my favorite dining experiences in the Houston area. We ordered a large Pelligrino for the table which the waitstaff graciously pour for you as your glass gets lower; I appreciate the attentiveness by them on this. We also started with the Fritto Mixto and my gf's mother ordered a cup of the chicken/sausage gumbo. She raved about the gumbo and almost thought about just ordering a bowl of that as her meal as she scooped it all up to the last drop. The fritto mixto is a mixture of fried calimari & shrimp w/ marinara and a lemon butter sauce; both sauces compliment the seafood well which was crispy and seasoned well. For entrees, my gf ordered the chicken parmesan while her mother ordered the pan-seared salmon and substituted the rice for roasted cauliflower. I ordered the smoked bone-in pork chop along with a side of brussels sprouts and the mac and cheese to share with everyone. All our entrees were delicious and quite large; we had plenty to take home. Every protein was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. The sides were also tasty with the mac and cheese being some of the best I've had along with the brussels sprouts. Since we took home several leftovers, we capped off the meal with some ice cream and fresh berries; a nice way to conclude a superb dining experience. Our server was gracious, polite, and professional. He was patient with our orders as my gf's mom is a picky eater. He gave some great recommendations including a nice Malbec to pair with my pork chop. I didn't capture his name but he moved swiftly and made sure we were taken care of. The only issue we had was our waiter seemed annoyed that we didn't order appetizers and that we told him the A/C dripped over my friend's seat so they would be aware. My friends and I absolutely loved Jonathan's. We attended last Saturday for our annual Christmas gift exchange. This was some of our first time here including me. Everything was amazing. Quality and originality are the Words that end up coming to mind when I think about after our experience at JTR. We honestly should have tried this location sooner, there seems to be quite a bit of an up scaling compared the the I-10 location. Here at memorial Green there's more of a distinct character the comes through in the interior design, which feels like one of any of the distinguished homes in the adjacent neighborhoods. The menu is a bit bigger than I expected, ranging from steaks to Italian staples, and rounded out with HTown originals. It wasn't big in a Cheesecake Factory way (which is bad), it was dense with options that encourage new experiences and repeat visits. I ended up with a massive double pork chop that was insanely well crusted and maintained the nice juicy pork inside. The crab cake was another nice addition to the meal with a salad that came with it being sneaky good. Our daughter devoted their meatballs in red sauce, and we called it all off with a coconut cream pie that was worth the full stomach squeeze in. Lots of cocktails and seasonal drinks too, with a lively bar area with plenty of conversation. Our service was a bit on the slower side, deliberately so I believe, at certain times it's nice to have a nicely paced meal. Price was equivalent to a steakhouse restaurant's, but it feels more relaxed than that. Happy with our visit here, and happy to add it to our rotation. read more

I was looking for a shoulder massage but instead I got some great service and good food. Team lunch on a Friday. They quickly got us set up with a table for 7. Our server was phenomenal - friendly, helpful and laughed at all my corny jokes. They have a lunch menu and a 2/$25 lunch special as well. We all ordered from that menu. They had quite a variety. Some of the options for the 1st course ;which were individual sized portions) were salads, ceviche, chicken and sausage gumbo, sweet chili shrimp, dumplings and bruschetta caprese which is what I chose. The 2nd course ranged (full entrees) ranged from salads, hamburgers, po boy, pastas, chicken and fishes. I picked the pan seared salmon. Bruschetta caprese - fresh tomatoes, basil, olive oil over bruschetta bread strips. Perfect taste and amount. The bread had a slight crunch and tender cheesy inside. Pan seared salmon - came with side of rice but was told that could be subbed with something else but I'm Asian so rice was it lol, the sauce was mango based and included mango slices and a few raisins. The salmon was cooked perfectly and paired with the sauce and rice for the best bites. For an additional $5, I ordered the Nutella cheesecake. It had mousse in it which initially was odd but actually made the dessert really nice. Def would order again. The staff worked well together to get us the food and keep our drinks filled. Our server was great at giving us suggestions and explaining the different dishes. The restaurant overall was gorgeous and warm and inviting. There is parking and I think valet but it was early enough that it wasn't necessary. They also have outdoor seating. Def would return to try a few more things. read more

Went to Jonathan's the Rub at Memorial Green for my friend's birthday dinner. It was a nice experience. The waiter Maynor was awesome and really attentive. He made sure our needs were met. He even offered to take our picture after we were done. He packed our to go boxes and made sure we were well taken care of. The restaurant was very pretty and aesthetically pleasing. It's an upscale restaurant but still very comfortable. I definitely would mind coming again. I tried the prickly pear margarita and it was sooo good! I had tried the three course meal that came with an appetizer, main course and dessert. I tried the meatball for an appetizer and it was delicious. I got the salmon for the main course and it was pretty good. My dessert was the Nutella cheesecake and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Would have liked a more varied IPA selection but that's pretty much true for any place I've visited in Houston, so won't hold it against them. The wine bottle list is extensive but wish they had more options for glasses. Forget which glass of red I got but it was fine. The ceviche and watermelon-feta salad were fresh and tasty. The ceviche could've used a bit more seasoning or 'oomph', though the flavors were fresh and clean. The watermelon feta salad with balsamic vinaigrette was also fresh and tasty, though could've used more feta, or at least bigger pieces - the small crumbles were hard to taste alongside the other flavors. The brussels sprouts with bacon, and blue cheese and mushroom & onion sauces were highlights for me, they were extremely tasty and well seasoned. We devoured both in their entirety! Tried one of my dining companion's mac and cheese, which was ok - a little dry. Ordered the filet medium rare and it came out quite rare, which was ok for us, but not what we ordered. The service was excellent, and prompt. Overall was a solid meal, though would not come back given steak is their speciality and they incorrectly cooked our steak. read more

Came here with the family for a belated mother's day brunch this weekend, and our experience was so excellent I had to write about it. First off, we had top notch service from Princess, our very kind and attentive server. Glasses were full, my parent's bacon got cooked longer, and all the suggestions made were spot on. This service is the type of attentiveness that would be enough for us to patronize this restaurant regardless of the food. But to top it off, the food was delicious! Things tasted fresh, flavorful and came in generous portions. She suggested the chilaquiles and I will second this suggestion. Steak and eggs elevated? Yes, please. We also had dumplings for appetizers and they were fantastic. I can't wait to visit again for lunch in the near future! Located on Memorial drive next to the OG Dish Society and not far from the OG Izakaya Wa. It's a nice semi upscale dining space with plenty of self parking in the parking lot in front. We swung by for lunch on a weekday. Their lunch menu had reasonable prices for a steakhouse; we ordered some apps before our mains. Southwest crab cakes -4/5, lots of crab and a nice flavor without being over seasoned Sweet chili shrimp- 4/5, sleeper hit, decent flavor and very crispy breading Caesar salad side- 1/5, this is a pretty lazy version of a Caesar salad for a nicer restaurant. The dressing was closer to a store bought Caesar dressing than a homemade/ made in store version. The cheese on there was also a bit cheap tasting; I prefer the Caesar at a few other steakhouses over this one. The croutons are nice and crispy though Ribeye 16 oz with brussel sprouts- 3/5, ordered medium rare and got a medium rare, which is great. Would have liked the fat to have rendered out a bit more on my steak. I was not a fan of their seasoning/ rub mix on the steak; salt, pepper, and butter would've been a simpler and tastier version. The brussel sprouts were cooked well but I wasn't a fan of the addition Parmesan cheese on there (it tasted like the same Parmesan that was on the Caesar salad). Overall, it was a solid meal and the restaurant had a decent appetizer menu for a change. I was not a fan of the steak seasoning but it was cooked well at a reasonable price so that's that. Think this is another one where your experience will vary depending on what you order; there may be more hidden gems or pit holes but what we ordered was slightly hit and miss. read more

My experience here was horrible to say the least. The service was atrocious. The waitress's attitude was HORRID. I ordered a cobb salad with no chicken and extra vinaigrette dressing on the side. I had to ask over 3 times where was my food. When we were preparing to leave, I finally got my entree. I received my dessert before I received my entree. We were there for a company event. The restaurant was very nice though. Plenty of photographic areas. I told my bosses, however, if they never take me to this place again, it would show how much they are concerned about me. read more
