I ordered the deep fried cheese curds and chicken sandwich and both were pretty good. They had a small back outdoor patio, a pool table, a full bar, and a seating area with just enough for a small crowd. We were impressed that the bartender managed the crowd easily on her own ensuring everyone got their food and drinks from the bar to the tables in the back of the room. September 5 & 6, 2025 - Gold Beach, OR We were staying at Turtle Rock RV Park when a local suggested we check out the Friday night steak special at Hunter Creek Bar & Grill--$21 for a full dinner. Sounded like a deal, so off we went. Walking in, we were hit with a wall of noise from the lively crowd and a haze of smoke drifting off the grill. To top it off, we got an unexpected dose of "local flavor" when an older lady at the bar fixed her gaze on my husband, asked to take his photo, and then claimed she really just wanted a picture of the door... sure, okay. I was tempted to turn right around, but we stuck it out and found a table. Before long, a server stopped by with menus and got us settled in. We decided to split the steak dinner, and it turned out to be fantastic--tender, flavorful, and more than enough for two. A glass of cabernet on the side rounded it out nicely. The best part, though, was the atmosphere. Once we relaxed into it, it was great fun being in a spot where the locals gather. A friendly couple pulled up to our table and shared stories about the area, even tipping us off to some local happenings. We enjoyed it so much that we went back the very next night. The Saturday special was a shrimp hoagie, and once again it was both a tasty meal and a great deal. This is no exaggeration because I've had many many many and none compares to this. To have this flavor and punch like this Ruben did from a bar, my god, this place deserves a Michelin guide. Pre-tip it was only 160 bucks for 8 people to drink for several hours. Lots of shot deals. This is a great place to have a beverage while staying at the turtle Rock RV joint. Just a cross the street and an eclectic joint with pool and on a cute river with a view. This gem is tucked away, but we found it to try the arches brewery (next door) lager. Funny signs and decor with tops stuck into the ceiling. When we go back we will stop in for a pint. read more

From the outside and the cozy inner decorations, I was expecting just basic food, and while the dishes my family ordered weren't fancy by any means, they were very tasty and we loved the staff too! Definitely go out on the back patio for a few minutes of a beautiful view! I got a steak salad, and was blown away by how tender and flavorful my steak was. Usually, I've had salads like this where the steak is pre cooked and bland and you have to use the dressing the wake everything up, but not today. It was huge, too. We also got an order of the made to order pork rinds. Although a little too salty for me, I loved the crackle and pop of these fluffy morsels, definitely would order again. They typically greet me at the door now as a newer local. They have a decent amount of seating and a small smoking patio that doubles as a beautiful view of the creek. The menu is typical bar fare with rotating specials depending on the day. I like to get the fish tacos or the fiesta burger with a veggie patty and fries as a side. They have a small selection of beer on tap, complete with local brews. The cocktails are also yummy too, I see people get them often when I am there but I have only had the bloody Mary. Absolutely horrendous service or shall say no service. We'd been on the road all day. It's was a Sunday evening and we were waited on by Diane. We placed our order and before she left us, I changed mine. She left and came back bc she forgot what we wanted to drink. This is two minutes later and she wrote it down Mind you were sitting at the bar. After at least a half dozen orders went out to tables and to people I knew that had come in later, I asked about our order, and she saw she HAD NEVER GIVEN IT TO THE COOK! She said since I changed my mind, she scratched out the original order (even though she wrote the new order) and thought the whole order was cancelled! She was so sorry bc she's not perfect, but still working on it. She asked if we wanted more ICE, not tea, for our iced tea which still had plenty of ice!! She gave it to the cook and said it would be next. Well, it wasn't and it wasn't the next one after that one either. This is a little over an hour. She went to ask the cook and he still didn't have the order or know what she was talking about. It's a small bar and we were sitting almost right in front of the grill. It was unbelievable. We asked to pay for our tea, which was comped....not the dinner mind you that hadn't hit the grill....and no apology....we walked out. The worst experience I've had in a very long time. We were patient and let her know too we had our dog waiting in the RV. We were thoroughly disgusted with the service. Diane clearly ought not wait tables. First of all, this place is clearly a "locals only" vibe. As soon as you walk through the door, they eye-f-*uck you all the way to your table. I remember this also happening the first time I went here by myself back in 2018. Eyeing me up & down, yet no one talked to me the whole time I was there. So, this time I went with a good friend of mine. We were staying somewhere nearby. It took us about 5-10 minutes to get our menu & then place an order. No big deal. About 20 minutes after that, the same woman who took our order came by again with her notepad asking us if we were ready to order. We said we already placed our order... - with her. She then said oh okay & practically ran away from our table. They kept our soda & water full, but another 15-20 minutes went by with no appetizer. My friend ordered onion rings to start. Simple, right? Finally, we asked her if our food would be ready any time soon - we were there for about 45 minutes, total. I understand that due to all of the covid craziness, food can take longer & that's totally understandable. So she walks away for a minute (after we finally asked) & she then returns to tell us "this isn't McDonalds" & that they're training a new cook. She then says that our food hadn't been started yet & it would be another 30 minutes & then asked us if we wanted to leave her a cell number & come back to "pick it up". I couldn't believe it. I saw other tables getting their food in a timely fashion the whole entire time we were sitting there. She clearly didn't put in our order when she took it & didn't want to admit that she probably forgot to. The thing is, she had about 20 minutes to rectify it after she realized she didn't put it in & still pushed us off. So, we said no thanks we'll just leave & she said "fine, the soda is $2.50". I left 3 bucks on the table & we went to Spinners where we got impeccable & timely service, 3 baskets of free bread - because she could see how famished we were - & the food was absolutely delicious. Apparently 2 chicken sandwiches, fries & a basket of o-rings was just too much to ask at this "locals only" joint. No problem, I'll take my business elsewhere from now on, for sure. read more

A casual, relaxed cabin feel, with locals and tourists alike. Great menu, lots of variety and a great selection of burgers, sandwiches, salads, fish& chips- all the classic pub food. I got the Ortega Burger, with onions rings (and best ever!), my other half got the Cheese Burger w/fries (special of the day). Fries were house made and awesome.
