Sounded like a deal, so off we went. Walking in, we were hit with a wall of noise from the lively crowd and a haze of smoke drifting off the grill. To top it off, we got an unexpected dose of "local flavor" when an older lady at the bar fixed her gaze on my husband, asked to take his photo, and then claimed she really just wanted a picture of the door... sure, okay. I was tempted to turn right around, but we stuck it out and found a table. Before long, a server stopped by with menus and got us settled in. We decided to split the steak dinner, and it turned out to be fantastic--tender, flavorful, and more than enough for two. A glass of cabernet on the side rounded it out nicely. The best part, though, was the atmosphere. Once we relaxed into it, it was great fun being in a spot where the locals gather. A friendly couple pulled up to our table and shared stories about the area, even tipping us off to some local happenings. We enjoyed it so much that we went back the very next night. The Saturday special was a shrimp hoagie, and once again it was both a tasty meal and a great deal. They have a small selection of beer on tap, complete with local brews. The cocktails are also yummy too, I see people get them often when I am there but I have only had the bloody Mary. Absolutely horrendous service or shall say no service. We'd been on the road all day. It's was a Sunday evening and we were waited on by Diane. We placed our order and before she left us, I changed mine. She left and came back bc she forgot what we wanted to drink. This is two minutes later and she wrote it down Mind you were sitting at the bar. After at least a half dozen orders went out to tables and to people I knew that had come in later, I asked about our order, and she saw she HAD NEVER GIVEN IT TO THE COOK! She said since I changed my mind, she scratched out the original order (even though she wrote the new order) and thought the whole order was cancelled! She was so sorry bc she's not perfect, but still working on it. She asked if we wanted more ICE, not tea, for our iced tea which still had plenty of ice!! She gave it to the cook and said it would be next. Well, it wasn't and it wasn't the next one after that one either. This is a little over an hour. She went to ask the cook and he still didn't have the order or know what she was talking about. It's a small bar and we were sitting almost right in front of the grill. It was unbelievable. We asked to pay for our tea, which was comped....not the dinner mind you that hadn't hit the grill....and no apology....we walked out. The worst experience I've had in a very long time. We were patient and let her know too we had our dog waiting in the RV. We were thoroughly disgusted with the service. Diane clearly ought not wait tables.
