Walk in, seat yourself at either high top or low top tables. The atmosphere here is still a comfortable and welcoming one and staff is friendly and communicative. Plenty of big screens showing different sports. The tables and floors are very clean. We started with a Dirty Fries appetizer and found it over the top good! We gobbled up half before I remembered to get a pic. The fries were very crispy and a nice medium size between shoestring and steak fries. The cheese was melted nicely and a touch stringy which told us this was actual cheese and not a sauce. The cheese curds were a nice mild flavor and deliciously warm and soft. Yea, the three of us pretty much attacked it. I ordered the wings appetizer for my entree with BBQ sauce. I was presented with a nice amount of wings that were huge. I joked that these might be ostrich wings. Anyway, they came out temperature hot! Nice! They were battered and very, very meaty. These wings are a very good quality. This is our favorite restaurant in Bandon so far. The whole menu is enticing. I like the Broken Anchor and Mac burgers plus the local fried cheese curds. I usually get the cranberry cider but they also have a good selection of other drinks including creative cocktail specials. Casual lively bar and grill setting with many TVs for sports. Came in here, not too busy. Sat ourselves as the sign and waitress indicated. After about 5 minutes, got up and grabbed our own menus thinking we had missed that step. Decided on our orders, both food and drink, and waited. Not a single person approached our table. After the server seated the table behind us, brought them menus, took and delivered their drink orders, and asked if they were ready to order, we got up and left. In total sat for over 20 minutes without any contact at all. Menus lying on our tables and no drinks should indicate we need service, but I guess not at Broken Anchor. We'll skip this place next time we're in town and I recommend you do too if you actually want to eat. read more

This place has everything I desired. I visited a creamery nearby and they didn't serve cheese curds but the staff there recommended that I walk down the street to Broken Anchor. Boy am I forever grateful for her suggestion. The cheese curds here are much better than what we had at Tillamook, the cheese tasted more premium and the batter is more airy and crispy than sticky, if you know what I mean. As if we didn't have enough cheese, someone in the group ordered the Mac and cheese and it's also heavenly. The topping is flaky and crunchy, the noodles gooey and fat (lots of butter used but oh so decadent!) I didn't try the burger or the fish and chips but from the look of everybody who did, they were all delicious especially the fries. I guess they must be really good at frying food here! Only complaint I had was our table is right by a huge window and the setting sun was torching my back at the same time it was blinding my friend who sat across from me. We're locals & always used to walk past, but never ventured inside. Boy have we missed out! This bar & grill has some of the best drinks and food in Coos County. Been here twice now in the last week-- you can't go wrong with whatever you order to eat or drink. Today I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Caesar Wrap & truffle fries (the BEST). Might have sent drink back but woman at bar kept making mistakes on orders so I didn't see the point if trying their hardest. We stayed in Bandon for several weeks this summer to escape the Fl heat and play golf, and The Broken Anchor was one of the few places we kept going back to. Solid bar food! The burritos are Amazing. My friend says she comes in all the time but I noticed that both the bartender and female owner did not acknowledge my friend as a regular customer. This is a big turnoff in my opinion. Ordered take out after seeing the lights at shore acres. The inside is very bright and clean. Our food was ready pretty quickly. We ordered the fried cheese curds which were fantastic. Very garlicky. We also ordered their fish and chips. It came with 4 HUGE pieces of fish and very tasty fries. Fish pieces were a little greasy but otherwise great. The tartar sauce was also very yummy. The kids Mac and cheese was a hit with my toddler. Also had to try the peanut butter bacon jalapeño burger. Picked this place for dinner due to its proximity to our hotel and because the menu looked promising. Service was good but the kitchen was surprisingly slow. The place was at least half empty but it still took almost 45 minutes to get our food after we ordered. The food itself was pretty good, although there were some questionable choices made with the menu. I tried the Jalapeño Peanut Butter Bacon Burger with the Dirty Tots upgrade. The burger was tasty but I couldn't finish it. There was no produce and no other condiment aside from the peanut butter so it was pretty dry. There was also a LOT of salt between the burger seasoning, cheese, bacon, and peanut butter. It would have been nice to have something sweet on there to balance out all the salt; maybe like a blueberry or strawberry preserve, or a raspberry chipotle dressing or something. The Dirty Tots also would've been better without the cheese curds, mostly due to the texture. I was not expecting cold, squeaky, uncooked curds on top of my hot crispy tots. While this was arguably healthier (or less unhealthy anyway), fried curds would've melded better with the rest of the dish. That said, I just ate around the curds and the tots were absolutely delicious. My wife got the fish tacos, which I didn't try but she seemed to like. My kids shared the fish and chips and the mini corn dogs, all of which were quite tasty. The fish was breaded and cooked perfectly, the fries were battered and crispy, and the corn dogs were the ideal kid fare. Had the burger been juicier and more balanced, and the kitchen not been so slow getting our food out, I'd have given 5 stars. That being said, it's still a solid place to eat and I would definitely come here again. read more

What a great spot in old town Bandon. Busy for dinner and a lively bar. They serve full menu at the bar and bar tables. I had appetizers birthdays in. The homemade fried zucchini was great. Not oily and served with two sauces ranch and marinara. The garlic parmesan truffle wings were awesome. I was worried it was going to be oily but that was not the case. They were cooked perfectly and peeled of the bone. Great flavor and large wings. They have clean restroom and easy parking. The pay it forward drink board is a fun locals thing.
