    Bread bowl chowder

They have a nice patio so we could bring our dog with us. Which was great since we are traveling. The Irish coffee was amazing. We both ordered the bread bowl chowder. The chowder was great. But what really said it apart was they toasted the top of the bread with the garlic butter spread. The service was great. Would definitely come back.

We've been to The Fat Irish Pub a few times, and they are typically busy. The service is always kind, but the young lady serving us today was incredible. She was attentive, friendly, and on top of everything. She went above and beyond! Sandwiches were good, atmosphere fun and inviting. This was our best visit yet.

We had such a wonderful time at fat Irish kitchen! I was in Brookings for work with my wife traveling with me and we just didn't know where to go, our hotel receptionist said we should come here and man are we glad we listened! The vibe is exactly what you expect from a awesome little Irish pub. Lots of beer artwork on the walls, cool little tree of life art, and the friendliest staff you'll ever find. The bartender Holly was the most friendly bartender I've had in I feel like a decade or more, and the bar back Josh was pretty awesome himself. He gave us some wonderful tips for some other places to eat at as we travel around the state, and all in all both of them gave us some pretty epic conversation. We almost never said at the bar, we decided to this time and I'm so glad that we did! The food was so so, nothing to really write home about but nothing really wrong either. It's bar food, you get what you expect when you go to an Irish pub. Taco Tuesday was well worth it, I'm a pescatarian so I had the fish taco and then tried their awesome potato taco and enjoyed the potato taco the most actually! I wouldn't pay what they normally charge for these tacos, they're pretty basic and the tortillas are not grilled nearly enough, but Taco Tuesday made three tacos only $10.50 and I could mix and match between all the different types so that was totally worth it! My wife tried the honey mustard chicken salad and unfortunately it did not live up to what she had hoped for. It was a really basic salad the veggies were fresh which was fortunate but it was basic, nothing was really seasoned, the honey mustard dressing didn't taste like mustard at all and the chicken was basic breaded chicken that tasted like it was from Dairy Queen. It was fresh, but still tasted like it was from Dairy Queen. All In all, the drinks and the bartender will definitely keep us coming back. Next time it'll just be for some drinks and some fries probably, but I definitely can't wait to try the steamer clams with jalapenos.

Honestly had a blast here. Very good service with amazing recommendations. I love the overall ambiance of the restaurant right next to the ocean. The chatter of all the older gentlemen and gentlewomen. The fish and chips are splendid and my favorite item. The clam chowder... DELICIOUS but of course it is!! The fries were also such good quality tenders. The alcoholic drink was absolutely so delicious too!!

My third review in so many years because I am literally running out of the new restaurant to review. Since we played golf in freezing weather, we wanted to warm up before trying out nearby restaurants and Azalea's annual 3 million lighting ceremony tonight. The service and tasty cocktails were amazing and thick, starchy Clam Chowder was the perfect way to get warm. The craft hazy IPA was served chilled and sweet. Fill it to the brim yes sir!

The food was really good! Service was okay, server could've been a little nicer honestly but wasn't rude either. The show stopper for us was the clam chowder. The taste was really good!

Great pub style food and drinks. Jamb packed on a Tuesday evening (Taco Tuesday is a big hit). Service was attentive and "nice".

They make their own vodka and it's quite nice. Do yourself a favor and try any of the Superfly specials with it, they'll surprise you. They do have a food menu, but it's a martini bar first and restaurant second. The food was pretty decent, but the knife work, plating and ratios showed the experience behind the stove. I was pleasantly surprised when I was told I could order fish tacos even though it wasn't on the menu. I love a good grilled fish taco so I went for it. The fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned well, the green and orange sauces were good if a little too mild, and the tortillas were the right style but not grilled quite enough. Also, there was very little cilantro or onion and almost no cabbage so they weren't as filling as I would have liked. My wife had the Katsu Chicken Salad. It arrived plated like it was deconstructed: the katsu on a bed of lettuce greens with very thick slices of vegetables around around the plate and the dressing on the side. It was odd, clunky and the katsu was under seasoned. The peanut dressing was divine though, my wife said she could have drank that like milk. There are some other dishes I'd like to try and their drinks were fantastic so we'll definitely try them again.

My wife ordered the Agedashi Tofu & Pork Gyozas and I had a couple of rolls, the spicy Rouge and a plain Jane salmon, avocado and cucumber roll. Everything was fantastic. The fish was super fresh, the tofu cooked perfectly and the gyoza sauce tangy and yummy. We only had a couple of small issues, more personal preferences really. 1 - my wife enjoyed the tofu, but the dish is described as having an agedashi broth but really it was more of a thicker style sauce smeared on the plate the tofu was placed on. It didn't really have a true broth. 2 - the habanero marmalade was not spicy. The roll was described as a spicy roll, but the marmalade was sweet. Unfortunately, the jalapeños were sweet as well. I know they can't control capsaicin in peppers, but that marmalade needs way more habanero. It would be WONDRFUL on toast though! Note: looking at their menu now they have updated this roll to replace the marmalade with a "tangy sesame". I look forward to trying this to see the difference. If you want a wonderful coastal option that isn't fish & chips, give Pacific Sushi a try.

He enjoyed the Redwood and Rogue rolls. Next time I *won't* order the Nature Nugget roll (which is listed with different ingredients on their website than their in-restaurant menu). It tasted like Lysol, presumably from the citrus ponzu? That was a tough swallow. I'd still return for that tofu, though. We were seated right away, arriving around 8pm on a Saturday night, with several other guests already seated. The lighting was low and decor was pleasing for a small town coastal sushi joint. The tomodachi was on point and our waitress was attentive and pleasant!

The place was super busy when I arrived there were people waiting outside, which is always a good sign but since I was dining solo, I got seated right away with no wait at all. The atmosphere inside is warm, cozy, and welcoming, with really cool décor featuring cars and car photos that give the restaurant personality and a fun, nostalgic vibe. It feels comfortable rather than fancy, the kind of place where you can relax, sip your coffee, and enjoy your food without feeling rushed. I ordered the shrimp and Swiss cheese omelette with jalapeño, and it was absolutely delicious. Everything tasted fresh, well-seasoned, and perfectly cooked. The portion was generous, and it came out piping hot and surprisingly fast considering how busy they were. The coffee was amazing too rich, fresh, and exactly what you want with a hearty breakfast. What really stood out was the service. The servers were attentive, friendly, and on top of everything despite the crowd. They made sure coffee stayed filled, checked in at the right moments, and kept things moving smoothly without making it feel rushed or chaotic. Another big plus: the prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality and portion sizes. It's rare to find a place that balances great food, fast service, cozy ambiance, and affordability this well. Overall, I'd easily rate it around 4.5 stars. If you're driving along Highway 101 or anywhere near Brookings, this spot is absolutely worth the stop. It's busy for a reason great food, great vibe, and great service all in one place.
