We had such a wonderful time at fat Irish kitchen! I was in Brookings for work with my wife traveling with me and we just didn't know where to go, our hotel receptionist said we should come here and man are we glad we listened! The vibe is exactly what you expect from a awesome little Irish pub. Lots of beer artwork on the walls, cool little tree of life art, and the friendliest staff you'll ever find. The bartender Holly was the most friendly bartender I've had in I feel like a decade or more, and the bar back Josh was pretty awesome himself. He gave us some wonderful tips for some other places to eat at as we travel around the state, and all in all both of them gave us some pretty epic conversation. We almost never said at the bar, we decided to this time and I'm so glad that we did! The food was so so, nothing to really write home about but nothing really wrong either. It's bar food, you get what you expect when you go to an Irish pub. Taco Tuesday was well worth it, I'm a pescatarian so I had the fish taco and then tried their awesome potato taco and enjoyed the potato taco the most actually! I wouldn't pay what they normally charge for these tacos, they're pretty basic and the tortillas are not grilled nearly enough, but Taco Tuesday made three tacos only $10.50 and I could mix and match between all the different types so that was totally worth it! My wife tried the honey mustard chicken salad and unfortunately it did not live up to what she had hoped for. It was a really basic salad the veggies were fresh which was fortunate but it was basic, nothing was really seasoned, the honey mustard dressing didn't taste like mustard at all and the chicken was basic breaded chicken that tasted like it was from Dairy Queen. It was fresh, but still tasted like it was from Dairy Queen. All In all, the drinks and the bartender will definitely keep us coming back. Next time it'll just be for some drinks and some fries probably, but I definitely can't wait to try the steamer clams with jalapenos. read more

I ordered a large 4 piece fish and chips. When I got back to the hotel, I realized that there was a tiny container of tartar sauce, which might be enough for 2 pieces. I politely drove back to the restaurant and the owner told me I had to pay extra for an additional tartar sauce. Since we played golf in freezing weather, we wanted to warm up before trying out nearby restaurants and Azalea's annual 3 million lighting ceremony tonight. Cute and cozy little place, we chose to sit outside so we could bring Sophie on the patio with us. We split the Ruben, it was packed with house-cured corned beef, swiss, sauerkraut & a delicious handcrafted Louie dressing. Grilled to melty perfection on marbled rye. I ate mine with a side of clam chowder and the man opted for their wedge cut fries. I washed mine down with a local apple cider they had on tap and I can't remember what Pinky had. First time here. It was really crowded because of the Pirate festival. Wife ordered a turkey bacon club, I ordered a cup of clam chowder and a half reuben. Our server was swamped but did an OK job. He screwed up our order and assumed that my wife and I were sharing her sandwich and never put in my order for the reuben. He was apologetic and fortunately, the sandwich came out quickly. So here's my take on this place. I've been 3 times one for breakfast one for lunch and one for dinner. Breakfast was good enough but very skimpy on portions for the price. Lunch was about the same Dinner we had just last night. First bad thing was the bartender served us our water using all his finger tips on the rim. My daughter was buying me dinner so I didn't say anything. I ordered fish and chips with coleslaw for $21 and received a 1/2 filled 2 oz cup of coleslaw, maybe 12 wedge cup fries and 3 relatively small portions of fish. It was good but portions were ridiculous. I'm a local here and probably won't be going back anytime soon. Teach your employees how to serve drinks and make your portions bigger for Christ sake. read more

Excellent service here! We were seated with no reservations. They have outdoor seating (with fireplace!) and indoor. We opted for indoor this time but there were plenty of folks (and dogs) enjoying the outdoor patio. Our server was super attentive and friendly!
