My partner said the burger was good but it was more squishy with guacamole than he would have liked. I liked the club sandwich but felt that the proportion of bread to meat was off. There was too much meat and too little bread. And the sourdough bread it was on was so toasted that it was kind of sharp. The bacon also seemed like it had been sitting there and didn't have a crispy texture. We got fry sauce and ranch sauce to go with our tater tots and French fries. We enjoyed our food here but there could be some room for improvement with some of the proportions but overall it's a solid establishment where staff know locals' names. However, she (Kyra) continued serving people they seemed to know on both sides of me, even though it was past the cutoff time. When I asked why the rule wasn't applied consistently, Kyra claimed I was over my limit -- even though I had barely had anything to drink.. It felt disrespectful and unfair and she seemed upset because I called her out on it when she continued to serve people. Just something to be aware of if you go: pay attention to how she handles service after 1:30 AM.

Ended up striking up a conversation with one of the employees, Blade, who was fantastic. We mentioned how much we admired the potted floral arrangements lining the patio, every detail felt so intentional and looked absolutely beautiful. Blade gave credit to one of the owners, Elvie Cartwright. Well Elvie, if you see this: you have an incredible green thumb and an artist's eye for beauty. Kudos. Hubby had the meatballs with whipped potatoes, not a big meal but very tasty. I often buy ribeye steaks at the Cartwright's market and they are wonderful. Cartwright's owns Taprock restaurant so I figured that's the steak they'd serve but no it was thin and tough like a top round steak, it was cooked med rare that I ordered. The mussels were delicious, and I especially loved the flavorful broth they were served in. It was so abysmal that the manager gave me a $10 off coupon to use later that I never did. I predict this restaurant will disappear within a year, which is fine with me. I miss the old Applebees. 1 star is being generous.
