Walking distance to everything; however, much more quiet than staying right on Main. And Delbert & Julie could not be more hospitable. They truly make you feel as if you're staying at your home away from home. The structures and their history are so interesting and unique it makes staying here even more special. The main house was Amish built in 1770 in Pennsylvania and was being dismantled to build new structures in 1988. The previous B&B owner's had the house parts freighted to Fredericksburg and rebuilt the house. The Cottage behind the house wasn't constructed until 1994, but old materials were used to mimic the age of the main house, including some of its wooden beams, so it really feels like the Cottage and House are from the same time period. Haussegen is not a typical B&B in that breakfast is not served on premise (a $10 voucher per couple is provided each day with a short list of area restaurants/bakeries to choose from) and you can either rent out the entire main Log Haus (sleeps up to 8) or the separate Fachwerk Cottage - which is what we did. At about $180/night during "peak" it is very comparable to other options in the area. But, if you can get 6 other friends/family to tag along with you and rent out the Haus I think you can get the cost down to around $40 per night/per person; which is a spectacular deal! When my husband and I stay at "B&B's" we always opt for the carriage house or separate cottage because we love the uniqueness of the facilities, but enjoy a bit more privacy. And, both of our needs were certainly met here. The Fackwerk is perfect for a romantic getaway for 2. It has a beautiful Willow canopy bed w/ TV, stereo/cd, and DVD player in the bedroom. There's a small kitchen area with a mini fridge (no ice), microwave, coffee maker (and coffee), and toaster. The bathroom has all the necessary toiletries (inc. hair dryer & and iron) and plenty of soft, cozy towels. The living area contains a sofa and 2 chairs with a wood burning fireplace (nice!). There's also a small dining table for 2. Free WiFi. The Cottage has a small porch with nice wooden rockers. A great place to sit and enjoy a glass of Texas Hill Country wine when the weather is nice. Within two blocks of a ton of stuff: main street shops, the Market Platz, The National Pacific WW II museum (huge!), restaurants, wine tasting rooms, beer gardens, live music, etc. Then drive or take a bus tour to 10+ nearby wineries, LBJ national park, enchanted rock state park, lLukenbach live music venue. They gave Hotel Faust such high praise that we decided to come with them to see what this was all about. This being our first bed and breakfast experience, I have to admit that I think all others will fall short. We have been blown away by our stay. When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Chris and one of the new managers. For two nights our room (Giles) was less than $350. She showed us to our room and walked us through how this all worked. The room we stayed in (Giles) was very spacious and comfortable. We loved the decor and the renovate bathroom -- The shower, especially. Breakfast was served in the carriage house and was delicious and homecooked. The room was not large, but we did not feel crowded. It was nice to interact with the owners and other guests. We loved that Hotel Faust was located on high street, right in the middle of all the action. It is walking distance from numerous antique stores and quaint restaurants. Ask owner, Chris, for recommendations, he is full of them. Our stay was wonderful and relaxing. We felt like a member of the family. I can't wait to come back and stay again.

The flowering shrubs in front of the cottage are a magnet for butterflies (I mean like...60 at a time), and I enjoyed watching them dance each morning while I sat on the porch. Being able to walk the property, sit by the dam and listen to water, swing under a shade tree, swim laps in the pool made for a sweet time of rest and refreshing. He has horse stables on grounds. On observation the horses are unfed, food is not being brought to them daily, no clean water. . Horses look thin, unhealthy. It was sickening to see these animals not being taken care of. Definitely will not return! Sign on property at entrance says "for sale or lease"

It made for an excellent chance to utilize the indoor fireplace at our cabin as we played board games throughout most of the evening. Our cabin wasn't much to look at on the outside, but gorgeously decorated and maintained on the inside. While it was secluded by trees from the many other cabins on the ranch, some others looked too close for comfort or privacy (but that's just my observation). Its October and probably the start of their off-season, yet they had a live music series we enjoyed Saturday night on the property. The music was at an outdoor cantina bar near the front of the ranch, which also had a large basketball court and miscellaneous balls for the kids to keep occupied with. At the bar, they offered a small selection of food which primarily consisted of Chili and Sausage wraps. The river across the street was easily accessible. If it were warmer, we would have spent our whole weekend in the scenic waters of the Guadalupe. Kayaks, tubes and rope swings were available to all guests on the ranch. I will mention (PARENTS TAKE NOTE) that the one fickle child who didn't want to do anything outside or with the family, was sorely disappointed in the Rec room offerings. With family coming in from all over, RTR was a great place to gather and relax. We brought lots of snacks and food to make for the weekend. It was nice that the kitchen was fully stocked with cooking utensils and dishware. Making breakfast each morning was a pleasant and fun delight. The most enjoyable and scenic part of the weekend was the herd of deer (saw at least 7-10) in the backyard. It was early in the morning while we enjoyed some fresh coffee. The kids even got to see one just a couple feet from the back door later that same morning. Roddy Tree Ranch offered us plenty of amenities and activities to take pleasure in, but the fact of the matter is the family made its own fun by simply being together in nature.

The large den has a large sitting area that has more room for additional sleeping if necessary. It's also a great space for catching up and relaxing. The home is very quaint and inviting. I loved the special touches like nice shampoo and conditioner as well as nice body wash. It also has a great patio out back for a relaxing evening after a day at the vineyards. Do not book through their website or another like hotels.com without first calling the hotel's phone number at (830) 997-3330 and confirming with someone they are back open and accepting reservations! What an awful experience it would be to arrive and find you have no place to stay! As I said, we have lovely memories of coming here. My husband and I first visited in the summer of 2002 and last visited in the winter of 2010. We stayed there a few times and our families stayed there once while we were planning our wedding in the area. It's an extremely reasonable price, just on the outskirts of town so you can avoid a lot of tourist traffic and still get around, clean, quaint and best of all, they are pet friendly! It's the best way to keep cost of a visit to the area down, while still staying in a safe and clean area. However, I have to dock a star (would've been 2 but I decided on 1 in case it was out of managements control due to health issues) because of the poor communication that is affecting others. We were in Fredericksburg for our anniversary at the end of August 2020. We were driving around, nostalgically stopping at places we used to visit and pulled in here. The place reflects they've been closed for months, especially with the covered pool and the gazebo that needs a power washing. It was sad to see, but not as sad as going to google to find out if it was a permanent or temporary closure and finding that there were several reviews of people booking rooms and showing up to a closed location! Unacceptable! Your website should reflect the closure on the first page and hopefully an ETA for reopening, but at least a message about the closure- those poor would be guests! I genuinely hope they reopen again in the future and if they do, they are worth a visit because Fredericksburg has continued to increase prices at all other accommodations, including RV parks, restaurants and shops and this is really the best way to reduce the cost of your trip.

We stayed in the cabins both times and it was clean and had everything we needed for a short stay. The grounds are well-kept and the management communicates very well. Comfort has quickly become my favorite little getaway. Living in San Antonio it offers a quick respite from the hustle and bustle of city life and is only 45 minutes away from our home. The town is peaceful and has some good food, a few shops, and some wineries that are within a short drive. LOVE Camp Comfort and can't wait to return.
