I do not write negative reviews often, but when it comes to a $17,000 plus purchase that has gone amiss more than twice, you can hopefully understand why I have written this. The way this company trains their employees to scam people is absurd! Here you are, going to take the big leap into purchasing a car. You are welcomed by being passed between 3 different associates. You like the car, regardless of the fact they failed to put ample gas in it, has a nearly dead battery, and a fog light out. You notice they have failed to mention the quoted $2k of damage done to both bumpers and underbody (hence why the fog light is out). You are ready to talk numbers despite the situation and you are yet again transferred to another person to show you comparables. They will not admit the car is DAMAGED!!! I have photos to prove this and quotes from a VW dealer. So I walk. Well, same dealership now says they have another of the same model car in a different color and trim package. So I show up, don't see the car on the lot, and call. Well now the Volvo dealership answers (and swears you need to go to them and not Subaru although they are all the same lot). They proceed to say the car is on a test drive and that is why it cannot be found. When actually searching their inventory it does not exist - never did, just the same car I drove a week prior with the damage not reported on Carfax etc because not significant enough to call an accident, yet the bumper of a nearly new car is attached by zip ties! They did not reduce price to reflect the damage. They also never fixed the fog light by the 2nd visit. They are truly just waiting for someone to come along and not notice SO THEY CAN RIP A CUSTOMER OFF. COMPLETELY DISHONEST, SHADY, HOPE NO ONE ENDS UP ON THE SHORT END OF THAT STICK. My salesperson was great. Zero complaints there. After the sale though, I couldn't get anyone to even answer my calls simply to rearrange an appointment to have a prepaid hitch added. Maybe don't pay cash here like I did. Maybe if you're on the hook with them, they'll take your calls. I'd look elsewhere if I knew now what I didn't know then. My business was of no concern after I drove off the lot. Eventually they did refund my money for the hitch though. read more

My hubby and I decided to stop in and check out the place during one of their sales. they had food, prizes, and LOTS of customers but we were still kindly greeted and attended to and had many of our questions answered. I purchased four new tires at Tirerack.com for my Lincoln. I obtained a quote from a local Ford dealer to mount and balance, and it was well over $140. A friend recommended I call Hunter in Hendersonville. They quoted $48 all in. Suffice it to say, I was skeptical. I figured they'd get me with the usual fees; tire disposal, valve stem, balancing weights, etc. I also wanted nitrogen fill too and assumed there'd be a per tire fee for that as well. I took a chance and set up and appointment over the website without calling anyone. It was for 9:30AM. I pulled up at 7:45 ready to fill out the early drop off envelope with my keys. Before I got the envelope out of the box, someone came out to help. I told him I was super early. He didn't care and told me to drive it on in. I pulled it in, handed over the keys and got my friend to drive me to work. About 10:30 I got the call...it was ready. My total was $50.00. $48 for the mounting, balancing, and installation, and $2.00 for wheel weights. I made sure to ask if this included nitrogen fill and was assured it did. Due to Asheville Prestige Subaru not being available whenever I have needed to get my car in I go to Hunter Subaru. They took my car in and provided me with a brand new Forester as a rental while they fixed it. Asheville Prestige Subaru did not even offer me a rental car when I needed one. Delores was my service agent and she was always very nice. Simple questions and things I asked to be checked in my car were done right away. read more

Terrible experiences with both sales and service. We were ready to buy a Legacy and the sales rep was a "good 'ole boy" who couldn't stop with the promises he couldn't keep. He acted like he was doing us an under the table deal. We wound up buying a Honda Accord from Apple Tree. I own an Outback that purchased before moving to the Hendersonville area. Service for a warranty item was a joke. Said the part would arrive in 2-3 weeks and it's been over 6 weeks. I'll have to drive to Fairway Subaru in Greenville, SC to get proper service. We will not be returning to Hunter and Subaru Corporate will receive full details in the survey the sent. read more

I went to subaru for service today and I am by far most impressed with their staff their costumer service and over all the whole place. They truly treat you like family and one of their own . This was my 1st time going to hunter and I had the best experience anyone could have! Tony and Susan are the absolute best they truly care about every thing that you come in for and your family! They make your priority's theirs! And they care remember your name and listen. I've been to multiple dealerships from Jeep to subaru and this was the best experience I've ever had at a dealer ship I work 30 mins away from this location and live 60 mins away from this location and for now on this will be the only place I go too! You look around at all the staff they have and see they are actually happy to see you and care about you and your budget and all the issues that could come down the line . Very shady! I drove down to Hunter despite the fact that I am nearer to another Subaru dealer because I had received an e-mail from their sales department saying that they were "highly motivated" to sell me a car and that they were going to "make me an offer I couldn't refuse." I was also encouraged by the $50 visa gift card that I would receive upon test driving a Forester. Guess what? No "deal" was offered and, three weeks on, no gift card (nor any response from anyone on their sales team, despite repeated calls). AVOID!! read more

Last month we took our Subaru in for service and specifically requested them to check and change, if necessary, the cabin air filter because of a stale smell in the car, along with other services needed. About 30 minutes later, they said the car was done and everything checked out fine. I was suspicious. After some research, I found that the cabin filter should be changed every 20k miles. It is behind the glove compartment and difficult to reach but I took out the glovebox, removed the filter and found it completely clogged and covered with dead bugs. I decided to check fluids and found some were very low and hadn't been topped off. Obviously, all I got was an oil change and car wash. On a phone call with the service manager, I was told I had probably checked the wrong filter, I told him I had the correct filter in my hand. I did take it in the next day, and they replaced the filter and topped off some fluids. Obviously, we no longer can trust Hunter Subaru to do our service. It is sad because we always spend the extra money to take it the dealer thinking we will get proper and honest service. Obviously, the computer generated checklist means nothing. Tried to buy a SubaruForrester from this dealer. Lots of promises with no follow through. Sales person was awful and manager must have neen the same "good ole boy" from one of the other reviews. Car not ready when promised (they had a $500 deposit) and then after waiting was told that the brand new car had a burn on the rear seat. Got our money back and bought a CRV from Apple Tree Honda. Mich better experience. Hunter needs to get their act together. Won't go back or recommend this dealer to others. We wasted a week dealing with these people. read more

I went to Hunter Automotive due to a recall of my 2011 Subaru. Initially, I was advised that it would be completed in 3 hours, however it took 6 hours. Frankly, I was fine with the added time but I digress. When my repair was completed, I met with a service person who was, generally speaking, polite and apologetic about the delay. She then proceeded to explain to me that there were other repairs my vehicle needed: brake fluid change, replace burned out front an rear driver side marker lights and a few other things. Luckily for me they were closing in 30 minutes and so I told them that I would take my car and get back with them. However, once I examined the bill and their estimates, I was nothing short of being astonished. What stood out most was the charge to replace the two lights: $157.99 (labor and material). To put this outlandish estimate in perspective, it took me 30 minutes, including a stop at a parts store, and an outlay of $11.99 for parts to change the two lights in question. So what is the bottom line, consumer / buyer (whatever you are) beware of this organization. I can only imagine how many naive people have been taken by this bunch. Is their labor so much better? I don't think so. Are their parts so superior? I am certain they are not. I ask myself what is fair and I know they have overhead, etc. but that is no excuse for this kind fleecing of the consumer, specifically some loyal customer who puts their trust in this organization. read more

The people were helpful and efficient. I don't want to spend hours at a dealership wasting time. If your credit is good you should be able to be fast tracked and I was. Before I came to Hunter, I had a very unfortunate experience with another dealership who pressured me into buying a car that was totally unsuitable for me. After shopping multiple dealers to try to find a way out from under a car with negative equity, I finally arrived at Hunter. Wish I had gone there first! Would have saved a lot of time and energy. Chris Payne was very patient with my anxiety and paranoia after being ripped off so badly somewhere else. He showed me 3 vehicles that would work with my financial situation, and answered all my questions. After working with Trey, who was very thorough in explaining all the figures and forms and answering all my questions, the sale went through without a hitch. By the time Trey was finished working his magic, I only had to finance $1500 negative equity. My interest rate was 1.33% lower, and the new payment only about $15 more than the original one. I was thrilled to leave Big Bertha on Hunter's lot and drive my gorgeous black Outback home.
