Nice hotel room. But the one soaking pool they have isn't that hot. Maybe 85-90 degrees? We were there when the wind was whipping sideways freezing us out, so it would have been nice to have a screen barrier on the end to protect from the wind. Restaurant was run by 1 server who also was the bartender. Took a long time to get waited on, as they were busy. VERY COOL natural geyser going off outside. Worth the stop just for that! I hope they continue ie to remodel and upgrade this. So much fun branding to be done and revamping the immersive brand experience if they tap into that. Ok. I'm giving 3 Stars here, simply because the proprietor matched an online rate and he was very friendly, super nice. We really liked him a lot. Could tell he was doing his best. Our stay was peacefully unencumbered. We never saw or heard cleaning crew. We were never contacted by management to see if all was ok or any of the nagging reminders you get from other places. This was appreciated. Just check in and go. Like a BnB with host living on site. That said... However --- it was meh, ok. But give this review read a good smile, because we intend it to be educational-- not complaining. Just come prepared. And bring a smile. The first room we were given keys to, was filthy. Had been well used-- linens still messed up and dirty towels on floor, etc. It had not been cleaned. The proprietor was very embarrassed. We laughed it off-- but felt bad for him. He had paid to have the room cleaned that day on the turn time. It wasn't done. Obviously hard to get good, reliable help in the area. (We are also business owners and understand this immeasurably!) We were then placed next to two families who are full time residents. It was ok! They were mostly quiet, as we are. But as daytime temps dropped the mini split unit in our room did not work. No one at the front desk. No one answering phones. No way to get help. Frustrating. I left two voicemails. Never got a return call. We stayed two nights. We spent a very cold first night. The next day we bought a space heater for that night's stay, as.... Yes, you may have guessed it, we were told by many locals that it's likely the best & cleanest room around. Ok... we can manage our own happiness! We had two bath towels. Total. We found one clean one near the pool and kept it with us to use as a bath mat. Restaurant is closed for the winter. This is understandable but just be prepared for that. Floors weren't clean when we arrived. No barefoot walking, as there was gravel throughout the room. No broom or I'd have swept it. There were drip spots on the bathroom floor that were old- dirty. A mop would've easily removed them. The bed, a very hard mattress. Which is fine if that's your thing. Two pillows only on the bed-- but we brought our own so there ended up being enough for the comfort we prefer. Honestly, the rooms look like they've been redone on a DYI. Above average DYI talent though so, hats off to whomever did the work. They tried hard to do a good job-- and it's rustic and cool. Maybe local barn wood used for the furniture? If so-- that's cool. Retro look OVERSIZED apartment fridge and microwave. Both worked fantastically. No - hand towels. -wash rags -hand soap - bath rug/mat -coffee pot -clothes iron -heat -toilet paper. We had to buy some the next morning. It's our opinion that they are scraping by the best they can with what they have. The buildings need some serious exterior and interior maintenance. (We would cheer for them if we saw it done this next summer!) They need some good cleaners who take time to sweep, mop, wipe things down, etc. So, did we take any of our concerns to the proprietor? No. We felt we got the best we could have for the area. He was trying his best, and we have compassion for this. I hope things get easier this next year. Having come off a two year pandemic and then 18 months of economic downturn, it's easy to see how all the little things can take slide sideways-- in a hurry. This climate is harsh. Please, understand-- we would def stay again. But we would come prepared. The hot springs is divine btw. Our tired old bones felt wonderful after a soak. It's a COLD walk of shame back to the room soaking wet though. A pathway to the rooms would make good sense, rather than the long trek through the hotel halls, out the front door and the 150-200' dash to the rooms. Definitely made us feel alive! read more

Our room was spacious and impeccably clean. The remodeled room was tastefully decorated and the bed was one of the most comfortable beds ever. The food was impressive and their prime rib dinner was delicious. Lots to do in the game room along with the hot springs water in the pool. A very friendly atmosphere and the owners are so friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend staying there and hope to return soon! read more

I'd like to have posted a review of the hotel and restaurant, but decided to cancel the trip before it even started. I called to book a room for a two night stay and ended up talking with an answering type service, so I elected to book via their online booking portal. After booking, I received a confirmation email with the price shown of $386 for a two night stay. This was the price shown on the site and everything looked good. Two weeks later, I received a second email with an update and increased price of $748 for the same two night stay. A bit confused, I reached out to the hotel and was told by the manager that there had been an error in their system and the rates were not correct at the time of booking. He advised that the new rate was correct and that they would cancel my reservation if desired. Given that the reservation was for a holiday weekend with an event going on, it was clear they only wanted to raise rates due to demand. I confirmed this by checking rates for 6 other weekends both before and after and all rates were the lower $386. When asked if they would honor the confirmed rate of $386 as shown on the contract, they replied they would not. After being able to locate another hotel for a similar price, I canceled my reservation. While I understand the desire of a business to raise rates during high demand dates, the practice of forcing a raise on those who already secured a lower rate is shady as best. Be careful booking here if this is their practice as you may end up with a much larger charge at checkout. read more

The family's teens were so sweet and friendly. The teens played pooled with my teenager. Nice soak in pool with hot spring's water. Loved listening to killdeer birds. We rolled up with no reservation on a Thursday night, and not sure what to expect. Other reviews were all over the map - some great, some not so great. Firstly, the person I dealt with at the desk (the new owner) was super nice, and we were able to check in to a beautiful, newly renovated room. The decor was Scandinavian minimalist, with recycled wood, and a large comfy couch for serious lounging. The room was ADA ready and sparkling clean. The bed was comfy with excellent linens. There are planned renovations to the bar/restaurant area inside the main building that I assume are now on hold due to current Covid restrictions. Secondly, the hot springs itself is a large, in-ground concrete pool that's open air. Total plus. While this portion of the resort is still to be renovated, the water is clean and hot. The pool is drained every night and refilled the following morning. The source water comes out at 140 degrees and is regulated to be around 98 to 100 degrees. It was a joy to float in the water, as bats flew overhead and the stars glowed in the evening sky. Don't know if I'll ever make it back there again, but I wish the new owners well and hope other Yelpers will seek them out for a stay and a soak. Lakeview is a fairly rural town but quaint and welcoming. read more

I had such an incredible experience at this hotel! I recently took my mom on a trip to Oregon to see the coast. Our first stop was Lakeview as we were coming from Utah. On the outside it didn't look like much, they're in the midst of renovating and so there's boarded windows and heavy machinery out the front. Initially we couldn't find anyone to check us in, but one phone call and all who were available came to help. Gary and Sam are so friendly, kind and were incredibly accommodating. They allowed us to change rooms. Our room was absolutely stunning, clean and the beds were very comfortable. The pool/hot spring was delightful. All other guests were so friendly and warm. They are in the middle of some changes, the lot itself is massive so it's a large project I'm sure. But what we did experience was perfect. We would love to stay there again in the future. We have been there once before and the rooms were so horrible and run down the whole place seemed run down. We thought we would try it again, the same owner was there and he seemed like we were annoying him checking in. The room was remodeled and a little better, the bathroom has no door and an outlet had a gap next to it and cold air was pouring in. Bed was put together and odd. I looked underneath the bed and was gross and mattress had a tear and was hanging down. We decided to enjoy the hot springs pool while we were there and again ran into owner and he didn't say hi how is your stay or nothing, just got out of our way and went into some room. Dogs running everywhere and hitting each other. Also looks like the rooms on the pool area are there living quarters Very run down, very sad there is so much potential there Won't be back read more

First of all the room was nice, updated and clean. The rest of the property was not. When we got there, we had to call Gary for a room key. Gary was stoned, and had nubs for teeth. Gary could not get into the computer or turn it on to see our reservation. The owner was away and was supposed to be back the night before. Gary really had no idea what was going on and he even said it several times. We had another couple that was going to go with us but they had to cancel due to a heart attack, the hotel would not refund their money. Needless to say we paid for 2 nights and we only stayed 1. We didn't even ask for a refund due to the response they gave our friends. read more

The best I can say is that the rooms are large and the bed was comfortable. The worst part is the lack of cleaning. There was food left in the fridge and the toilet had not been flushed. The hanging lamp had what I can only hope was large chunks of dust. It appears deep cleaning has not taken place for years. There was no soap for the shower and no bathmat for the shower floor. The only landscaping is gravel. Walkways have broken concrete. A pet fee of $45 is criminal based on the general uncleanliness of this place. Stay there only as a last resort. read more

Stayed for one night while passing through from Salt Lake City. We were blown away by the beauty of the valley and enjoyed walking around the property. It was pretty quiet, and we enjoyed a nice, reasonably priced dinner in their dining room. The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable about the geiser and history of the hotel. There were a few quirks about the hotel; no door on the bathroom, no peep hole on the front door, the sink dripping all night. Overall, we enjoyed and would recommend as a fun stop for low-key travelers looking for something off the beaten path. read more

I have so much to say about this place! First of all, it changed hands about two years ago and Jim, the new owner, is wonderful. He is a very busy man operating the place on his own with his son and he diligently responded to my every need and inquiry to ensure my comfort and happiness. He gave me a remote room for quiet, he showed me where to go jogging, he made sure I got in the hot pool, he left me alone, etc...! Not only is this place a historic property (do more research on this history via the website), but also a modern wonder. This was being documented by a PBS film crew the day of my stay. Jim has the bar and lobby heated using geothermal water piped into the buildings. Not only this, but there is a nice greenhouse on site that is also heated in this manner. Additionally, Jim and his son are growing herbs and vegetables for the restaurant on site. That means optimal flavor and freshness and efficiency and responsible use of resources. The community is showcasing this with the hot geothermal topic in town. Anyway, if you are a local foodie like me, this is something to see...and I just stumbled into it. History, alternative energy, gardens. Then the rooms. Keep in mind it is old and a work in progress that will likely never be done-there is so much to do! But the room was clean and operable and quiet and safe and wonderful. The internet fast and no trouble. The rate is a fantastic value. There is plenty to do in the area though I never explored Lakeview itself, the Warners and surrounding region offer ample things to do. Stop in and meet Jim. I really wanted to give these guys more stars, but experience wasn't the best. Haven't been here in years and it was really run down before. Had hoped new owners had really improved the place by looking at room pics, saw some renovation was happening. Booked a room here for mom's birthday, so was hoping for a decent stay. Unfortunately, the place is so run down think it's going to take years to get it back to where it needs to be, but at least they are making an effort. Restaurant/bar was closed which was super disappointing since it was one reason I wanted to stay here. They said they are going to be reopening with more pub type food soon. Looks like they had an extremely nice restaurant before, which just doesn't fit in with the area of Lakeview. It's a cute little town but your locals aren't going to eat at a fancy place often. Room had been remodeled which was much better than old dingy rooms. But think old mattresses were used, they just built bed frames (super rickety) like you would for a foam mattress. If there was more than one person in a bed I'd be a little worried. At least the sheets were soft. No bathmat so had to use hand towel. TV was new and nice. Outside the room was super muddy with cigarette butts all over the ground and ice piled up on sidewalk. Ended up tracking in a bunch of mud to the room since there was no door mat. The door handle/lock was extremely janky. Couldn't get key out once it was in and knob was so loose, we were afraid it would fall off. Was glad to see deadbolt or would have been questionable on security. No coffee maker or cups. Some homey touches would go a long way. They did have a brand-new retro looking fridge and microwave that were cute. We had brought coffee items and tried to heat up water in microwave, but it stopped working after 2 min. No TP holder, just sat on counter. Bunch of cobwebs above mini split heater. Massive, nasty hairball in shower drain. Hair on the shower walls. Hand soap was completely empty. Dog hairballs under beds. A binder with hotel and local info would be great. What they really need is a good, professional housekeeper to bring their rooms up to decent standards and see all that little details that matter to guests. Maybe a cleaning check list to make sure things like hand soap are always full. There were no pool towels in the room, so we assumed they were out by the pool like years ago. Wind was howling and so freezing! Walked the entire way to the pool and realized no towels or bathroom. Tried calling to ask about towels but no answer. Was one super cold walk back to the room after swim. Since it's a bit of a hike (down a mud road) to the pool, providing robes would be an amazing touch. Wish pool was hotter, was just warm even right under hot spring inlet. There were dogs running around and tied up. I love dogs and wasn't a big deal but great Pyrenees barked at us on the way back to our room and scared both of us since we weren't expecting it. There was also a little dog running loose that came into pool area and acted like he was going to steal our flip flops. Then barked at us the next morning. If the dogs aren't friendly, keep them inside and away from guests. There was also an old RV parked in the back by pool, seemed a little questionable. Unless you're just passing though and need a reasonable room I'd give it some time and see how the renovations are coming. read more

If I could rate this hotel a zero, I would. We arrived at 5:30 pm with our party of 12 trying to check in. No one could be found? There was a number posted to call if we couldn't find anyone. So we did. This nice older maintenance man came and tried to look up our reservations. He couldn't work the computer couldn't see anything and told us our rooms are not ready and cleaned, so we asked for a refund. He said he couldn't give us a refund and to contact the owners ( how?.. since we don't have any contact information for them) so we proceeded to leave and we're getting into our cars. He stopped us and told us our rooms be ready in a few hours. So we all left to grab dinner came back in two hours and the rooms still weren't ready and cleaned. We waited until 8:30 PM and asked if our rooms would be ready sometime tonight. He said probably not since the cleaners left. Although, if we wanted to clean the rooms ourselves, we could. Needs to say, the hotel still tried to charge us the full amount! Stay away! read more

Staff super friendly, accommodating and, yep, FREE delicious coffee in AM. Best place ever for friendly dogs and dog lovers!! Affordable relaxation. We have always wanted to stop here. Decided to stay overnight on one of our road trips. The rooms are very basic, but clean and comfortable. Spent the evening in the outdoor soaking pool, which was clean, perfect temp (not too hot or cold...soaked for 1 1/2 hr), and met another nice couple here. I rated 4 stars not for amenities, but for affordability, cleanliness, and friendliness of staff, which go a long way in my book. Would I bring my family back? YES!!! Would I recommend Hunters Hot Springs to my close friend and family? YES!!! I'm glad we stayed, soaked and we will return for more. read more

My party and I arrived at Hot Springs late in the day after a long day of travel. We checked in and went out to dinner. I was not given any paperwork as to charges for the rooms. Upon going into the rooms, we found the towels were, literally, shot full of holes. The rooms were filthy. Toilets not clean. Bedside lamps broken. Floors dirty. I had to clean counters to put anything down. There was feces outside the door. The microwave plate was in the room but covered with dried-on food. There was nowhere to hang clothes and no chest of drawers - not even a hook on the walls. There were lots of dead bugs in the bathroom light. The pillow cases were on inside out and were smaller than the pillows. After a bad night, I went to the front desk to check out. I told him we could not stay there the two more nights we had planned. Mike Watson, owner, apologized for the towels and for the dirty room. He said they were having trouble with the cleaning service. Mike assured me I would pay for only one night. I asked for something in writing and he told me the printer wasn't working but that he would contact me. I have heard nothing from them. We had two rooms, for one night only. We were charged for three nights though we stayed only one. This is an ongoing dispute. I have lots of pictures, which I can post. read more

This place was terrible. Stayed a couple nights with my partner who had to stay here for work. The room wasn't finished when we got there. There were outlets without covers, exposed and broken hardware where towel hooks should have been. One light in the entire room, hanging over the door. Ratty and cheap bedding. Uncomfortable bed. Flat old lumpy pillows. One tiny dorm size garbage can. Half a roll of toilet paper. Unfinished tile bathroom. Grout smeared everywhere. Unfinished shower drain. When I went into the office to ask for some garbage bags to empty the trash and a roll of toilet paper there was mold and mildew growing INSIDE the windows. And frogs. Tiny frogs living inside the office in the window sill. Neither of us ever got a shower that was warmer than lukewarm. And to top it off? They still haven't refunded his company for two nights when their job ended early. After 6 phone calls from him, 2 from HR and several emails. They won't even return calls now. Do not be deceived by the photos. There is a reason there is only one pic of a room. I saw his room and his coworkers. Not a single one remotely resembled anything in these photos. The only photos that are at all accurate are of the hot spring pool. Stay away. Stay anywhere else. read more

On a trip from Arizona to Washington, my wife and I stayed at the RV park next door to Hunter Hot Springs. After a long trip the hot springs sounded like a great idea! We had visited 3 years before and enjoyed the springs. We were greeted by a very UNfriendly young man who informed us we were not welcome to the hot springs by the hour. He informed us we could rent a room for $60 and use the the springs. The parking lot was empty, the restaraunt had been permently closed and our welcome was unhospitable. We would not consider staying there. It appears from the other reviews that others feel as we do. This is a place to avoid. Too bad. This is my first and only bad review. Doug read more

Truly filthy rooms and overpriced to boot. Cleanliness issue was brought up with management and nothing was done about it, no refund or action was taken. Unbelievable for $90 a night to get stained toilets, other people's body hair in the shower and visible filth on the carpets. Is it impossible to get house cleaning employees in this area or is it pure inattentiveness by management? I wouldn't stay there again if I were paid. read more

I have never had a worse, overpriced, surrealy terrible experience. When we showed up, we couldn't find ANYONE to help us, despite ringing the bell many times and wandering the grounds. We left to eat and came back to try again. Same result. Finally one of the locals in the pool directed us to a door marked "PRIVATE" where we found someone whose day off it was. I've never felt so utterly forgotten. She had no record of my reservation that I'd called in. The room we got had a broken A/C ( a piece fell off in the night) so it was stuffy and hot all night, no soap or shampoo, not enough towels and a broken deadbolt. The pool was nice with a lovely view but when it got dark nobody turned on the lights so we left before it was dangerous. If we had paid $80 for the night I would have been merely irked. But at $200 (plus a $7 credit card fee!) we left furious. Of course, when I went to drop the key I couldn't find anyone to talk to. The thing is, you can tell they are working hard to revamp the place. The bar is going to be great when it opens. But now it's just chaotic and unpleasant. They really should just close down until they are able to tend to customers. read more

We made 8 reservations for this place in April 2010. We found out by way of one of us making a non-reservation phone call around June 15th that all the reservations had been cancelled, When I phoned them to ask why, they wouldnt tell me. I then asked if it was because we were on motorcycles, the fella replied "probably". Most of us have experienced some kind of discrimination in our lifetime, however, we should not patronize those who do. This is only my opinion and you can take it any way you wish. read more

I'm giving this place four stars. It's not a four star hotel (I don't mean that in a bad way) but it is extremely clean, the family is super nice, and the views are awesome. We would for sure, stay here again if we were ever back in a Lakeview. It sure beats a Best Western in my book! You can't beat the value either. read more

We stayed at HHS for our 2nd time. It was not worth the price $106. Last time we paid $83 for a nicer room. The heater didn't work(it was 14deg F. there were no blankets on the bed(only a sheet, bedspread and 3 pillows for 2 people), no coffee machine but the worst part was it was FILTHY DIRTY- chip bags, pop tops, trash/dirt under the bed and desk. We would love to keep supporting this place because it has potential with the Hot Spring pool! Also the staff was very nice and it is dog friendly. We hope they can pull it together! read more

Avoid this place!!! We made the reservation on the road several hours away which was a big mistake. They refused to give us a AAA discount. The guy who took the reservation over the phone couldn't answer all my questions and said he was just the handyman. When we got there, if we hadn't been so tired and if it hadn't been so late, we would've left immediately. Why? Because of the pack of loose dogs that greeted us at the office door; because the place is under renovation and a mess; because our bathroom smelled like urine, the unwrapped soap had mold on it when we took it out of the package and the toilet bowl was dirty; because some of the bath towels were permanently stained and should have been thrown away; because there were holes in the room's walls, not enough lighting to read by with damaged lamps; because there was only a fitted sheet on the mattress, no mattress pad, no blanket and just a cheap slippery polyester cover and BECAUSE in 90 degrees there should be air conditioning. The unit didn't work. And no TV although the handyman said he'd go find us one if we wanted him to. AND the chickens, one-eyed hog, goats and geese were right behind our room and surrounded our vehicle . This place should be condemned. read more

There is a definite disconnect between the reviews and the actual experience of trying to stay here. It is rundown, with paint peeling in front, the driveway in serious need of repairs, chickens scratching for bugs in the parking lot, the door lock not working without considerable jiggling, the bed so soft and sprung it felt like a hammock, no phone so you couldn't easily reach the front desk, no cups for drinking, and a tv which did not work. Then, on top of a rather steep rental rate for what you get--over $90--they have a service charge for using a credit card even though they REQUIRE a credit card for holding your reservation. And that great hot springs pool everyone talks about? Hold your hat--there is a surcharge if you want to use it. The restaurant some reviewers bragged about is permanently closed. The worst part is that when we complained about these many, many deficiencies, the desk clerk admitted that he was aware of them when we checked in. We stayed less than half an hour and left with our refund in hand. read more
