I don't think it was worth the wait, the price, or the time. They missed an appetizer for our group no big deal and they offered to comp it. Then they lost our order and took forever to bring even the salads. When the food does finally come, fish special was over cooked and dry, marinated chicken was burnt because they used a press to cook it faster., 2 burgers were not good enough for teenage boys to finish. The bright spot was the filet my wife thoroughly enjoyed. The fried green beans were not bad, but they were standard frozen stuff from a box, cheese toast was very good. Pricing is ok if you get what you pay for, but up charge $1 for 5 pieces of asparagus or sautéed spinach on a $29 entree not to mention the salad is $1.50 up charge to get bacon and cheese when they ask if you want it like it comes on it normally. There were a lot of excuses and apologies from the server when she came by, and they sent us home with free dessert, but the manager never came by, and the up charged items more than covered the pie. Overall cleanliness didn't really knock me off my feet either. Someday I might try again but not any time soon. read more

We were seated right inside the door in this tiny hole-in-the-wall place, but obviously the locals love it because the tables did not stay empty for long between parties. Good thing we got in before the dinner rush, otherwise our party of 8 would have been waiting for a while! Get the fried lobster tails. Seriously, I don't care if you don't really like lobster or you're not a fan of fried foods (liar). They are amazing, and the honey mustard dipping sauce brings them to another level. We took the leftover sauce and put it on everything. I recently stopped eating red meat, so I was a little concerned about what I'd be able to eat at this steak house. I was considering ordering another plate of lobster tails for myself when our friends that had been before recommended the swordfish special. I'm not sure what they do to keep the seafood so fresh around Columbus, but I hope they continue! The Jamaican cream sauce was flavorful and brought the swordfish together with the fried crab claws. The only disappointment I can really think of was the cheese grits, they were pretty bland in my opinion but I was so full from the swordfish and mashed potatoes that I didn't really miss them. Everyone was struggling to finish their plates, but when we heard "chocolate peanut butter pie" all of a sudden half of us still had room to spare for dessert. read more

Was a little apprehensive because it is in the middle of nowhere, but when we saw that many people waiting we figured it had to be good. Very small dining area. Was told it was best to arrive 15min before doors open to be able get in and get a table. Heard many great things about this place, so the bar was set high. Girlfriend and I were about 10th in line or so. Not pleasant waiting in this heat, but was supposedly worth it. We finally got into the place like door-buster dash sale at the big box stores. We chose our table. Service was extremely slow as we got the initial excuse that they were short staffed in the kitchen. Took forever to get a drink and finally get our order in. Seeing that the bar was set high, I was practically drooling. After waiting for over an hour and watching others who were behind us in line already served, gone and new patrons sitting down with drinks in front of them, I was ready to get up and leave! Our steaks finally arrived, while they were good, I've had much better elsewhere and they definitely weren't worth the hour plus wait time. Make sure you don't forget your wallet. Not sure if it's post COVID price gouging or maybe they were always a bit pricey. Being new to the area, I'm not sure. Price was steep enough, but with a credit card penalty (My terminology) if you dont pay them cash, I'll never return. Tired of businesses forcing the extra 3.5% on a credit card customer. I meant to write a review a couple of months ago when I was first introduced to Hunter's Pub, but never got around to it. I have now eaten at Hunter's Pub three times...twice within the past week....if that says anything about the food! My first visit here I had the New York Strip (my favorite steak) and it was divine. Ask for the green beans instead of potatoes...while the mashed potatoes are great, the beans are even better. Second visit here I had to get the same thing, but the third visit I went for the seafood special (it changes nightly). Absolutely delicious Asian-inspired grouper, which tasted as fresh as I would have expected if we were on the Gulf Coast. Try the cheese toast for an appetizer. While it looks and sounds simple, it is fabulous. The salad is nothing special at all, but it comes fast and helps to tide you over while you wait for your steak! Portions are large too, each visit I've had plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day. Don't come here if you are looking for great ambiance...it doesn't exist. As others have mentioned, it is truly a hole in the wall. Converted from an old gas station as I understand it. Crowded, loud, and boisterous, always busy but with prompt efficient service and out of this world steaks. Come when they open at 5 pm if you don't want to wait. Overall, Hunter's Pub probably serves the best steak I've ever had, which more than makes up for the lack of "fine dining" atmosphere. I can't afford to keep eating here twice a week, but this is my "go to" place when I crave a great steak. read more

Ok me and three co-workers went here last Thursday for a work dinner. I don't eat steak but I agreed to go anyway. If you don't eat steak you have few options; a fish option that changes (red snapper the night I was there) and grilled chicken breast. I think that's pretty much it. Of course all my co-workers ordered steaks while I went with the chicken. I can't personally speak to the steaks but I can tell you there was nothing left on anyone's plate so maybe that's all that needs to be said. With each meal you get two sides to pick from as well. I can honestly say that for a basic grilled chicken breast it was probably the best I've ever had. The grits were good maybe a little heavy and the salad was nothing special. For dessert apparently you MUST get the peanut butter pie. All mu co-workers did but I went with the key lime pie. I believe both are homemade. The place is in the middle of nowhere. On a Thursday evening the lot was full and cars were parked up and down the street. In other words the place was packed. But we only waited maybe 20 minutes to get a table; not too bad This place isn't inexpensive but not unreasonable either. If you can find it, this place is worth a visit especially if you like steak. The location is out in the relatively middle of nowhere, and the place itself is rather small and packed, but a cool atmosphere at the same time. Nice service but it's over-priced and crowded. I've been twice. The first time I had the marinated grilled chicken breast ($12) and asparagus. It was good enough to make me return. The second trip was on a Friday night, we were warned about the crowds but thought, how long can it take? It took about thirty minutes for us to get a table and at least an hour for our food to arrive. I ordered the steak tips. The iceberg salad was small and forgettable. Worse yet, the server made it without gloves. Taking money and then adding tiny tomatoes to my salad with bare hands is a little scary. The bread was delicious but the sweet potato fries weren't anything to write home about. The steak tips were disappointing. There was a lot of meat, it was cut thick and it got cold and chewy fast. It's also smothered in overcooked mushrooms and onions (I had mine without onions). Even adding the sauce, it wasn't good. I'm not sure why anyone would rate this place five stars. They do have nice servers. I left my purse and no-one went through it or anything. The jukebox is cool. They fill it with money on Friday evenings so you don't have to pay. And I appreciate the semi-late hours. But the seating is uncomfortable, the atmosphere is noisy and the food only warrants three stars. Being generous, I'd give four stars for the chicken breast and two for the steak tips. I won't return. read more

My husband and I drove out to Hunter's Pub on a Friday night, we got there a little after 8 and seemed like we just caught the tail end of their rush. The restaurant itself is small and completely no frills. The servers were very friendly and attentive throughout service. My husband ordered the jalapeno poppers to start which were just okay. Our steaks came out shortly after and were cooked perfectly, HOWEVER, definitely lacked salt. I find that like most other steakhouses that pride themselves in their sauce are less heavy handed with the salt. It is a personal preference but I am not a fan of steak sauce and the Pub sauce was no exception. The sides came in huge portions, the fried green beans were so good! I definitely would come back to try the lobster tails and pies that everyone raves about. Overall, the friendly service and atmosphere alone was worth the short drive and I would give Hunter's Pub another try. read more
