    Bi Cuon

Anyone who's had traditional Vietnamese food is going to come to expect a normal dishes from the standard spring rolls to the world famous pho. It's my first time at a vegetarian Vietnamese restaurant and I wasn't disappointed, but I also wasn't blown away in terms of value to taste, but it's a great vegetarian restaurant. The dining room is clean and I decided to walk in because nobody answered the phone but I could see why they're always busy so if you call and they don't answer just go inside in order to go. I had the Bi Cuon which was tasty the traditional Vietnamese spring roll with fresh greens and wrapped in semi hard rice paper for $6.50. I don't see the value it's too expensive to get a spring roll cut it in half to make it seem like I have four rolls for $6.50. I'd rather go somewhere else maybe Chipotle and turn my dish vegetarian with rice, lettuce, salsa, vegetables fajitas, but I understand you can't compare restaurants but I compare the food to price to value. The overall spring roll is great taste fresh love the dipping sauce I was a little worried that the vegetarian fish sauce for dipping wouldn't taste traditional, but it does tangy garlic spicy sweet a little too sweet in my opinion overall it's a great dish. The Bun Cha Gio Bi has the better value to dollar to taste for its price point. I love the fresh herbs with the fresh bouncy vegetables and when you add all the vegetables noodles and a semi too sweet fish sauce for dipping the noodles and vegetables does help by taking away the two sweet sauce. It's a great taste with the eggrolls and I had the air fry it when I took it home as long as you air fry or crisp up the eggrolls it's a good dish, it tastes traditional, and I'm a little surprised, which is awesome.

This is a great place to come if you are vegetarian or need to eat vegetarian or want to eat vegetarian. My favorite here is the salted tofu - crispy, salty, simply delicious. The last I tried is the pho. The pho soup is overall better than other pho I've tasted before, but it is not my favorite. The vegetarian ham has a great taste and texture. Not a fan of the vegetarian beef though. The tofu was ok. The caramelized fish in clay pot is ok,but it was thin and a bit too sweet. My mom loves the bun hue, and she has it everytime.

    beautiful decoration

The food is very delicious. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. Price is reasonable for a vegetarian restaurant. I will come back

Delicious vegetarian options are in abundance here, but meat is not. Every single item on the menu here is vegetarian, but if you eat meat, you won't miss it given how flavorful and fresh the food is. I do have to mention that one could be misled with how some of the dishes are named: for example, they have a dish called Heo Quay Kho Ngũ Vị (Five Spices Roasted Pork), but it is actually an (excellent) tofu dish meant to imitate pork. There's no indication in either the Vietnamese or English name that this is imitation pork rather than real pork. Since this restaurant does explicitly label themselves as a Vegetarian restaurant, that might be obvious to most. But I think it would be helpful to label the imitation dishes as such to make it more clear for those who may not know. I came here with a big group of friends so I was able to try plenty of things. My favorites were the Mango Salad and the Five Spices Roasted Pork, and even though I ate A LOT, I didn't walk out feeling bloated or heavy. Service is friendly, the zen interior design of the restaurant is cute and photogenic, and there's plenty of parking. This restaurant is in Bellaire, and even though it's a bit further down the road from Chinatown, it is well worth the drive. Ambiance: 5/5 Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5

This is NOT the place to go if you want meat (even their "meat" dishes are from vegan-based). But that being said, the food is really good and the restaurant can accompany both small and large parties. Place is more for casual get-togethers. Easy to find parking (in a lot). I highly recommend getting the spring rolls and mango salad (do not skip on this one) for their appetizers. I got the roast "pork" dish and was pleasantly surprised how flavorful and crispy it was. Great portions too. Good service: Workers very attentive, food came out quickly, and came by periodically to check up on us. Just know though, you pay at the register (we were waiting for the check and did not realize that). Highly recommend for a Asian-Viet vegan restaurant!

Heard by word of mouth that Huong Sen was good, so a group of us went to check it out. I really liked how they decorated the restaurant. Service was good, accommodating a party of 9. The food was so delicious! Everything vegan. I can't decide which is my favorite. Appetizers ordered: bi cuon (spring rolls), cha gio chay (eggrolls), goi xoai (mango salad w/ crispy crackers) Entrees: Bun hue (vegan bun bo hue, spicy and portion was larger than expected), nam va dau hu kho to (tofu + mushroom, the sauce was so savory & addicting), heo kho ngu vi (crispy, fried tofu) Really enjoyed dinner and a fun outing!

Vegetarian Bi Cuon - comes with 2 rolls but I forgot to take photos of all the food..

Always on a look out for a good vegetarian place cause my parents are vegetarian and I have a few friends that love vegetarian food as well! Came across Huong Sen on IG and decided to check them out! Boy were they way out there! I don't think I've ventured this deep into Bellaire before! Ample parking, and restaurant was fairly nice... not huge but not super tiny either! They had a lotus flower display that the kiddos loved! The menu was small but lots to choose from! I've been looking for a good mango salad and this one was delicious! Came with rice crackers and a vegan fish sauce and lots of herbs! Super refreshing! The spring rolls were also fantastic! They have things like eggroll vermicelli, vegan eggrolls, vegan pork and vegan lemongrass chicken, as well as a tamarind soup! I loved the sauce in the lemongrass chicken, and my friend loved the roasted pork dish, though I didn't like the texture as much. I wish the lemongrass chicken had more lemongrass and was slightly a little less sweet! Mushroom salad was on the sweet side as well. Kids loved the mushroom pho! Overall, great vegetarian food.. alright service, I think they were a bit overwhelmed by how crowded it was.. but good price for everything we ordered! Will take my parents next time they visit!

My grandma is a Buddhist vegetarian and I've been on the hunt for places she can eat at. A friend recommended this place and I finally had the chance to bring my grandma! Not all of their menu items are Buddhist vegetarian friendly, but there were a good amount of items that are. The interior here is pretty spacious and there are booths that are tucked away. There's no large party tables, but we were a party of 5 and they had a table that fit us. We ordered the Cha Gio Chay as an appetizer and these were arguable my grandma's favorite--she ate 3 of these and she usually has a small appetite. These were nicely crisped and paired really well with the vegetarian nuoc mam. We also got the Bun Cha Gio which was another one of my grandma's favorites, she ended up eating most of the bowl (we family-styled the meal). The fried rice was good, though I do wish the portion size was a bit larger. It had a nice wok flavor and the rice was not soggy at all. The salted tofu was my favorite dish by far--super airy and crispy and lightly salted. The caramelized fish was also good, although on the salty side--it pairs really well with the complementary rice. Lastly, we got the snow pea leaves without garlic--these were cooked very well and were still flavorful despite no garlic. Overall, a great experience and I will be bringing my grandma back!

The food reminds me of temple food, where the food is made and served by priests. If you ever have a chance to be invited to a meal served by the priest, take it. The is truly the next best. I highly recommend the Mango Salad, with juliennes of carrots, mango, cucumber with bits of red peppers, egg plants and chopped bay leaves and wonton wrapper flakes. Use the shrimp crackers to scoop the salad into your mouth. Yummy!. The other dish was the Canh Chua or Sweet and Sour Soup. The soup was full of bean sprouts, button mushrooms, tomatoes, celery, tofu and okra. The traditional way to devour this soup is to pour a portion into a smaller bowl and add white rice. The broth was yummy. The service was attentive and the restaurant was quiet, a pleasant place to sit and enjoy your meal. I would definitely return.

Huong Sen was delicious! This is one of our favorite vegetarian places in the Chinatown area. It is a few minutes further than the main Chinatown area. All items are vegetarian on the menu. We've tried multiple items on the menu and each has been tasty. My favorite is the spicy noodle soup, which contains multiple different types of fake meat in a tasty, spicy broth. Know that it does have a spicy kick to it. Know that although they take your order at your table, you actually pay for food at the register up front.

I have been to this Hương Sen restaurant a few times. Today, my friend and I came here for a late lunch. Their food always tastes so good. I like their ginger lemongrass cold tea drink; it's so refreshing. The restaurant is very small and cozy, but it has beautiful decorations and a temple interior design. Their service is always good. The owner is a very nice person. I would definitely recommend that everyone come here to try out their vegetarian dishes. You won't be disappointed.

Yes, they have a few dishes that they can recommend for your diet.

Can the food be made without onion/garlic/leeks/chives?

Where can I find the menu? Do they have a buffet?

Their bánh khọt was crispy, sweet and savory, and went well with the fish sauce. Although the portions initally look small, they are very filling. The bò né was filling and sizzling when it came out. It also came with a side of salad. The meat was tender. I really liked the bánh khọt and would definitely come back for them. I couldn't have been more wrong. Xeo Yum (#1) as it turns out is one of the most legit Vietnamese places in Midtown serving up some of the city's best banh xeo and banh khot. Located inside of a Food Hall (#2) in the back corner, they have low-key become a destination and without question, the most popular stall in the entire place. The fan base didn't happen overnight but is a direct result of Chef Cuong Nguyen's commitment to quality Vietnamese fare. Banh Xeo is their signature item, which is also known as a sizzling crepe or pancake made of rice flour, tumeric, and coconut milk. The banh xeo holds well, is perfectly crispy, and is nicely stuffed with an assortment of beans sprouts, shrimp, and some of the best grilled pork belly I've had. Another specialty item that doesn't get enough mention is their banh khot, which is similar but has a mini muffin / cupcake like appearance made in a specialty cast iron mold. This version is wonderfully crispy and pairs perfectly with fresh greens and fish sauce with some funk. It is my favorite item here. Some have argued they also serve one of the best bo ne (#3), the Vietnamese version of steak and eggs served in a skillet. The chunks of beef are nice and tender with just a tad of char, served with two fried eggs, and a banh mi baguette with a mix of butter and spare. Normally I think of spam or sausage included with the meats, but Chef Cuong's spin is with cherry tomatoes. It's a different approach and I'm not mad at it. Folks not looking for this can shoot for bo luc lac, aka shaking beef, which is also recommended. The staff here is sweet, hard-working, and very friendly. They also make a mean Vietnamese coffee and offer free iced self-serve water. The prices are what I would expect in a Midtown food hall, and there's plenty of seating. Anyone checking out the food hall need to make Xeo Yum as part of their eating itinerary. __________ (#1) A play on the Vietnamese sizzling crepe, Banh "xeo" and yum" (#2) Previously the Conservatory and now Stestí Food Hall. When I arrived there was nobody dining in the restaurant, that was a bit worrying, but I figured it was a bit early for the dinner crowd and late for the lunch crowd. Food & Drink - 4.5* First up was the noodles, I enjoyed them, but I wouldn't say the hype I'd heard about from some others was there. They had nice flavor, but there just wasn't anything "special." 3.5* Then it was on to the crawfish, and my oh my. Superb, the flavor is delicious and unique. This more than made up for the noodles dish. The potato and corn was good too. Service - 5* Solid. When I first arrived the owner was quietly reading a newspaper and eating his own lunch. He paused to greet me and advised that I could sit anywhere. He provided water and adequate time to determine what I wanted to order. The food came out quickly and he checked in a few times to make sure everything was ok. As time went by, the crowd of folks showing up increased quite a bit and he still managed to check in on tables consistently. Pricing - 4* This is where it was odd. Always subjective but I found the noodles to be overpriced for not only the size but what I felt was a pretty simple dish. The crawfish on the other hand was priced very competitively and made up for the overpriced noodles. I provided pics of the menu for someone to make their own assessment but in general I thought many of the dishes were pricier than they probably should be. The flavor is fantastic, the pricing is good, the size of them were solid. There are a couple of other dishes I may try on the next visit. I asked for a side of papaya slaw for some veggies. My favorite dish of the night was the carpaccio. So many flavors perfectly melded together. Loved the crunch of the fried onions and peanuts. 10/10 dish, in my opinion. Authentic banh xèo usually has an airier, crisp crepe, but theirs was more crunchy - great for their tostada take. Very flavorful. Each piece had one shrimp, but plenty of pork belly bites. The nuoc mam drizzled on it was tasty. Fried calamari - this is a big dish for, I believe, $'19. I prefer the dipping sauce on the side so that the batter doesn't get soggy. This did happen here, but it didn't stop us from finishing every last bite. The green sauce was good, not the usual dipping sauce for fried calamari. Steak special - they have another steak dish on their menu, but this one was pepper crusted w smashed potatoes. The potatoes were super crispy and flavorful and the steak was perfectly cooked - a beautiful pink medium rare. The portion was huge and justified the $39 price point. The staple steak dish came with a papaya slaw and I had to have it. It was bright and limey - I can see why they serve it with their steak. Bánh beo - my least favorite of the night. A bit thicker than I like. Still good, but there were a lot of other great dishes that I could easily pass on this one. Try their hibiscus artichoke tea.

Late review of this little gem in the heights. Went here to try the food and drinks with my ex gf…read moreand we had so much fun. The wings are exceptional. Try them, I love a good Asian style wing sauce and this hits the nail on the head with what I am looking for when I think of Asian style. No notes. Would order just these 9.3/10. Beef carpaccio is not something I would order again. I don't really care for carpaccio to be fair. 6/10. Shaken beef had great flavor, but it was less beef cubs and more big beef chunks. Flavor was excellent, but the beef should be in smaller bites. 7.7/10. The stuffed crab pocket was unlike anything I have ever tried. Great seafood taste in the inside, crispy shell. 8.7/10. The calamari squid dish was nice. Flavor was good. Fresh ingredients. 7.2/10. Drinks and services were really the standout here. Super friendly staff and fun Thai drinks. Cute location and seating. 9.6/10.
