Of course coming to Houston I had to come to the iconic Mensho and I am so glad I did because it blew me away. We only had time to come here for lunch so we got here a little before opening and there was already a line. As soon as the doors opened, the staff got us in immediately. You can tell they have this process down to a science. It all felt so efficient and quick. The inside looked like a traditional Japanese ramen spot so it was super cute and had a great vibe. As for the ramen itself, I was blown away. The broth was so rich but didn't taste overpowering at all. It had an amazing flavor with a lot of spice and earthiness. The noodles were a perfect amount of firm where it didn't get soggy and you were able to savor every bite. The takoyaki we got on the side was amazingly cooked as well. I cannot wait to come back which I will be doing again and again.

This place might be my favorite place for ramen. After trying the vegan garlic knock out (VGKO) ramen, I can't stop thinking about it. It is so flavorful and garlicky. So delicious! Probably the best ramen I've ever had. They also have the garlic knock out (GKO) ramen which is similar but with chicken soup instead of vegan soup. I came here with my vegetarian friend and she was so surprised to see so many vegan ramen options. I think they have about 4 different ones and they all sound so good. I love matcha so I got the crispy matcha kinoko which is king oyster mushroom tempura with matcha sauce. I thought it was just ok. I also got the duck matcha ramen and I was not too impressed. It was unique but the taste was just ok. Maybe a little odd to have matcha in the broth. I would definitely come back for the VGKO ramen or the GKO ramen. I also saw they have other interesting ramen on the menu like spicy lamb ramen, wagyu Texas bbq ramen, and soupless ramen. The wait was not too bad on a weeknight but not sure about the weekends. This will be the place I would come back when I'm in the area.

This place deserves its flowers! I finally got to try this place after hearing high ratings and I can attest that they're true. My friends and I tried the garlic knock out which had a phenomenal rich garlic flavor. We enjoyed the cumin lamb and enoki chips as well. Space is a bit small but also intimate; they definitely do their best to accommodate you. Our waiter was quick and attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu.

My daughter and I had lunch here yesterday. A word of warning, this restaurant is located in one the busiest retail plazas in all of Houston. We parked in the parking garage but at times, parking can be very hard to find. The restaurant itself is not very big, maybe 7-8 tables for 2-4 people + counter seating for another ~10 people. We got lucky and were seated right away but we saw quite a waiting list form after we were seated. The setting is nice, clean and cozy with an authentic Japanese "small noodle shop" type vibe. The service was good. We had: Original Chicken Karaage (4/5) - A bit different than the classic ones as this has a sweet, vinegary sauce. It tasted but...as my daughter pointed out, it tastes just like "orange chicken" from a very famous Chinese fast food place that has a Panda on its logo! Garlic Knock-Out (4/5) - This is the ramen I had. Very garlicky for sure, which I liked. Noodles perfectly cooked. The broth was very flavorful. My one issue is that the broth is very thick, somewhere between a sauce and a broth. Sometimes I just prefer a nice broth versus feeling like I'm slurping up a sauce. Classic (4/5) - This is the ramen my daughter had which I tried. Same general theme, good flavors, but broth too thick. I also thought the pork had an overly smoky flavor to the point neither my daughter nor I liked. Generally, understand why people like this place. It's not our favorite ramen place in Houston but good nonetheless.

Mensho is the best ramen in Houston! They're always consistent, and have never failed me. I came in for lunch and got their signature ramen, karaage, and takoyaki. Don't forget to try their sparkling drinks by Moshi -- many to choose from and all so good. Service is pretty fast. The restaurant itself is small so sometimes there might be a wait. Signature Ramen (4.5/5) - rich & creamy broth. eggs cooked perfectly. the smoked duck is sooo good. be warned that this will knock you out after eating. Karaage (2/5) - eat this fast, it's good when fresh. I would say that it is decent, but probably wouldn't order it again. Takoyaki (4/5) - can't complain, I love takoyaki, but this one has some mentaiko - yum! great appetizer :)

We went for Sunday dinner and had to wait for 5-10 mins as a group of four. They had a high chair to accommodate for a baby as well. The overall mood was very cute and well decorated. They had a greeting when you walked in and had a ramen shop appearance. The food was pretty good. I loved the broth and flavor of the GKO compared to the signature but they were both delicious. The noodles seemed handmade and had a very thick and chewy texture. They had lots of toppings in both the ramen which was a surprise and a great match with the noodles. The only reason I gave a 4 is because of the ramen broth being quite salty. Ramen is usually pretty salty but I had to drink a lot of water during and after the meal. Definitely a busy spot but worth visiting to try their ramen.

The earlier you go, the quicker the service! We arrived around 8:40pm and waited inline for about 20 minutes. They do give you a menu while you wait so that you're ready to order once inside. The restaurant itself is pretty small, but it kind of felt like japan in a way. We ordered unagi sansho and the spicy kaarage fried chicken. Both of these were delicious and would recommend 10/10 I ordered their Angry Ramen. They asked me what spicy level I wanted medium or hot, I asked the waitress how spicy is it and she responded with "i think you'll like the hot one" so i said okay! Once the ramen came out the other waitress said "Oh nice goodluck" and in that moment i knew i was done for LOL. This ramen was very delicious but oh my god I was in tears with how spicy it was. I couldn't even put a dent in it before I had to tap out. My husband tried trading with me but he couldn't handle the spicy either. I would get this again but in medium spice level! Would not recommend the hot unless you can handle eating ghost peppers and stuff lol 8/10 My husband got Wagyu Texas BBQ Tantanmen with duck. That was really tasty. The broth on it was so good, especially when mixed with my spicy broth. 9/10 Lastly the matcha cheesecake, i loved this so much. It had the perfect amount of matcha and it was so creamy and delicious. The portion is tiny but would definitely recommend. Could've ate like 20 of them in one sitting, thats how good it was. 10/10 Overall: 9/10, we will be back to try the other ramens!

Been wanting to try this restaurant for a while and finally made plans with a friend on a Wednesday evening. We arrived at 7:30 and there were only 2 people waiting ahead of us. We were taken inside to be seated within 5 minutes. It's a small space, but I'm sure it's to give an authentic Japanese vibe. The menu includes many different varieties of ramen from traditional pork to vegan. The appetizers are not to be missed. We had the enoki chips and wagyu on rice. Yum. I ordered the wagyu beef ramen special without the pork sauce and my friend ordered the garlic knock out. The Wagyu ramen was so incredibly delicious with a deep umami flavor..... I polished off the entire bowl knowing I'd be extremely uncomfortable afterwards... the Wagyu was so tender and buttery. Amazing. Will definitely keep coming back

Glad I got to come when there was not a rush. Had the enoki crisp and GKO with chicken and duck. Ramen generally is pretty heavy for me so we shared one and the enoki crisp. The crisp was a little greasier than I remember but still delicious! Service is pretty quick and I love that you can get good delicious food quick with great service and run out. Ramen as always is delicious and full of flavor beautiful layers to it. Everything from the floor plan to the dining ware feels intentional which I also love

I love the signature ramen ! It has rich flavor with so much topping and very delicious. We went here for lunch and it was pretty packed, but did not take long to be seated. We also tried to mushroom fritter which was super crunch and fun to eat. I definitely would come back !

If you haven't been to Mensho Ramen yet, stop what you're doing and go. Seriously. We went as a family, and it completely blew us away. We ordered the Wagyu and uni hand rolls (incredible), plus both the classic and signature ramen, and every single bite was next level. The depth of flavor, the richness of the broth, the quality of the ingredients... you can tell this isn't just ramen, it's an experience. We also added the four different garlics, which took everything over the top in the best way possible. Even though we were the only ones there with a kid, it was very kid friendly. They had nice booster seats and were very accommodating. The real review though? Our 3-year-old declared it her "favorite food ever." And honestly, same. Houston has no shortage of amazing food, but this place stands out. We'll be thinking about this meal for a long time.

Amazing! Came on a weekday for lunch and there was a slight wait, nothing too bad. I ordered the signature which had creamy soup, a thin slice of A5 wagyu, a good portion of chashu, spinach, truffle sauce, jammy egg, and a swirly fried mushroom thing. Everything was delicious. The broth had amazing flavor and was thick enough to coat everything. The egg was cooked perfectly and marinated well. The chashu was tender and flavorful. The noodles themselves were thick and chewy. It's a bit of a splurge for a bowl or ramen but worth it in my opinion.

This might be the definitive ramen bar experience in Houston. I won't act like I've gone to Japan to do the real thing, but this made it feel like I could lie and say I did. The line was there even on a weekday lunch, we were put on the list and asked to wait outside as space is limited, they manage the crowd well and keep the tables moving. Friendly despite the uncomfortable action of making people wait around outside of your restaurant. The menus help you to be ready to order once you get inside, so it's kinda part of the process. The menu itself is nice and tight with half a dozen ramen dishes with some sides and drinks to choose from. The first time here, so we all went with the classic and it didn't disappoint. Bouncy and plump noodles sleeping in the most unctuous and rich broth I have slurped in my life. The only way I can describe it is as, pure concentrated pork cooked down to a liquid. The toppings were all top tier as well when I compare it to others I've had, so top to bottom a complete and unrivaled bowl for Houston standards. The side were pleasant as well, not as outstanding as the ramen, but yummy nonetheless.

The font on the menus is squint inducing so do your research ahead of time or prepare to spend more time perusing the menu than usual, especially with the dim lighting. They offer thin or thick noodles and can mix some broth options to adjust spice level. Drinks- the smoked in front of your face whiskey is a treat and a show. Solid spot. No regrets. I was very surprised. And my broth was so delicious. It had such a rich umami flavor due to the miso & I thought the spice level was perfect. Honestly - I could eat jhst that broth for a whole meal. Unlike buldak or some other spicy ramens - the main selling point wasn't the spice. You could get an additional "spice bomb" if you wanted some more heat. The ramen toppings were good but not outstanding - same with the noodles. I thought the "mi-so-hot" was easily 3x better than "the og". The broth in "the og" was pretty interesting and more unique tasting. It felt like the main notes were just umami, pork, and oil. Not bad, but felt like it was missing a little something to make it truly good. If I had just got the OG, I'd rate this place a bit lower - but as it stands I'd 100% come back here for the "mi-so-hot" The interior was pretty nice. It was more "communal style seating" with a couple of big tables. There is also some smaller booths. It's an "order at the counter" type restaurant as well. I saw several comments about parking & was a bit concerned when driving over. I know that part of westheimer is always packed! But there is an attached parking lot & at 3pm on a Sunday, there was plenty of parking! Also - there is some street parking in the neighborhood north of the shop. Overall - will 100% be coming back for some more spicy ramen. Would recommend

Tantan Tsukemen - Very interesting broth. Potent, salty, and full of bold flavor. My friend swapped the pork for chicken, and the chicken worked really well with the broth. They serve the chicken as a cold cut. This is a double-noodle dish with a soy milk-based dipping sauce. I normally would have ordered this because I LOVE tantan ramen, but I had to forgo it for the limited-time Creamy Truffle Ramen. Creamy Truffle Ramen - LOVED the broth. It was very light and creamy. I actually liked this a lot more than tonkotsu ramen. The truffle wasn't too overwhelming--just mild enough to hint at its flavor without becoming the only flavor profile you get. Truffle is like baking with rose water; finding that balance is quite hard. I will admit the whole table smelled like truffles, though. The torched king oyster mushroom paired wonderfully with the dish, and the broccolini was an equally interesting topping choice. I also found bits of melted Parmesan throughout the ramen, which the menu listed as an ingredient. The egg wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was still a decent soy egg. As I kept eating, the truffle oil became more intense, and the fattiness started to get a bit overwhelming without washing it down with water. Great flavor overall, but I think this dish is best paired with an appetizer to help cut through the richness. One of my favorite things about this place, which my BF mentioned, was the noodle texture. I noticed it too as I ate--a good bite with a slick texture that was just starchy enough to cling to the broth. We had leftover noodles from the Tantan Tsukemen at the end of the meal and ended up using the Creamy Truffle broth as a dipping sauce. Honestly, no regrets. The cold noodles didn't work quite as well in this dish, but the broth was definitely a banger. This was also the first ramen broth I couldn't finish but desperately wanted to bring home. (Obviously, I did.) Their to-go containers are surprisingly sleek, too. It's a weird thing to compliment, but I almost wanted to keep the container as much as the broth. Special comment on the utensils here--the soup spoons are ridiculously cute! Would love to have a similar set at home. Overall, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the service was thoughtful. The music wasn't too loud, and it wasn't that crowded for a Saturday night. They do play a lot of popular Japanese songs, so if you're an international music enthusiast, you'll appreciate hearing "Mayonaka no Door" by Miki Matsubara.

One waitress served everyone in the restaurant while I was there. She was speedy in taking and delivering orders. She seemed very nice! Food: ordered Tonkotsu Gachi and my mom ordered the yuzu. Food arrived very quickly, though we ordered no appetizers. The tonkotsu broth was rich and velvety in texture, but more like a mild umami in flavor. The chashu pork was pale, but melt in your mouth buttery and bursting with savory pork goodness! The marinated egg wasn't brought up to temperature with the broth -- a little cooler than room temperature, with a medium oozy yolk. It felt like the marinade penetrated all through to the yolk -- it was great! I welcomed the novel choice to use red onion over the usual scallions. It was a nice touch of color and brought in that bright, juicy onion flavor that I crave. Noodles were perfect texture. Not too hard or mushy. This bowl feels made to focus on the broth and flavor and not so much an instagram post. Delicious!! My only complaint was a very very very slight bitterness in the background. I couldn't pin where it was coming from. Maybe that's a risk of simmering bones for so long. I'll keep this short because I couldn't just eat my moms bowl... The Yuzu shio broth was clearer, with bright, citrusy, and savory body. The bamboo shoots were golden (grilled?) with a little snap to it. Reminds me of a king oyster mushroom. Great sizzling & ramen spot in Bellaire + more…read more Really enjoyed our visit at Toyori in Bellaire. The food was delicious, flavorful, and comforting, and the service was friendly throughout our meal. The ambiance was nice and relaxing, making it a great place to sit down and enjoy ramen with family and friends. There were 18 in our group, so there was understandably a bit of a wait to accommodate us, but it was definitely worth the wait. Definitely recommend trying this place if you're craving good ramen and Asian fusion dishes in the Bellaire area! The Ribeye sizzling plate is a MUST-try--especially with their signature sauce. So flavorful and satisfying. Their takoyaki tasted so authentic, it felt like being in Japan--another must-try Overall, an excellent dining experience and we would definitely come back again!

Tried Toyori recently and honestly the experience was a mix for me…read more I had their sizzling beef before and wasn't too impressed, so this time I decided to try the ramen. It was decent, but nothing that really stood out flavor wise. The food overall was okay at best in my opinion. What I did enjoy was the ambiance and atmosphere. The restaurant has really nice decorations and a cozy vibe that makes it a pleasant place to hang out. The staff was also attentive and friendly throughout the visit, which I appreciated. While the food didn't fully win me over, the service and environment definitely made the experience better.
