The last couple of times I've come here, the food and service were disappointing. For starters, the server didn't ask if we wanted something different to drink, which we wanted a cocktail. Then, they switched servers without informing us. The BBQ fries weren't very good and when I told the new server, she just said "okay". I ordered extra Thai chili sauce and the server didn't inform us that it was an exWe ordered the Italian BMT, which we normally love, but when we received it, it was cold. They took 15min to bring it back and when they did, it was the half eaten sandwich, not a new one. The owner, who is in the kitchen cooking, never came out to address us, even though we sent 2 items backs. My experience in the past is usually good, which is why we drove 40min from downtown. I recently visited Pythagoras Conscious Food Philosophy in Sugar Land with my kids on a Sunday afternoon, and we had a very good experience. As someone who's been a vegetarian for over 30 years, it's rare to find a place with such an extensive and diverse menu! The restaurant itself is clean and thoughtfully decorated, creating a welcoming atmosphere. We loved the alien theme, and veganism is the future after all! The staff was friendly, attentive, and well-informed, which made our dining experience even more enjoyable. We started with house-made lemonades--one strawberry and one passionfruit. Both were refreshing, but the passionfruit stood out with its sweet and tart flavor, reminiscent of Brazilian cocktails (minus the alcohol). It's worth noting, however, that Pythagoras has a full bar with a variety of enticing drinks. I was there with kids on a Sunday afternoon, but I'll try their drinks another time. For our meal, we ordered the 4-cheese garlic naan, kabob gyro, sweet potato fries, Super Annoying Vegan burger, Texas BBQ burger, and both the ice cream cake and blueberry cheesecake for dessert. The naan was okay, though not a standout compared to the other items we ordered. My son loved the kabob gyro, describing it as "phenomenal." It featured house-made kabob koobideh with fresh veggies and tzatziki sauce, all wrapped in their signature naan. The sweet potato fries were exceptional--crispy on the outside and soft inside, easily the best I've ever had. I chose the Texas BBQ burger, which was delicious. It came with a kabob koobideh patty, melted Violife smoked provolone, smoked bacon, red onions, cilantro, banana peppers, pickles, and BBQ sauce on a toasted pretzel bun. My daughter tried the Super Annoying Vegan pizza. While we appreciated the creativity, it wasn't our favorite, but taste is subjective, and it's a popular item on the menu. Dessert was a highlight. The ice cream cake was outstanding, one of the best things we ordered; it was rich and satisfying. Their ice cream was better than dairy! The blueberry cheesecake had a lovely texture, though we thought a hint of lemon could have enhanced the flavor. I'm a chemistry and biology teacher, not a chef-- so I'm not claiming expertise, but I think it would be a nice variation. A unique vegetarian restaurant in Sugarland. The decor is a unique alien theme. We felt that the restaurant was a little dirty (the menu had some sticky sauce on it). Their menu is extensive, but prices are high. There is even one burger on their menu that goes for $30+! It seems like a fun spot, there was a live jazz band playing when we visited on a Saturday afternoon. There was also a sign advertising karaoke night and it looks like they are open late night on weekends. However, the music inside was so loud! We couldn't hear each other talk. If I could give this a 0 star, I would. It was a complete joke. Out of the 4 dishes I ordered, only the fried mushrooms were remotely edible. The "kabob koobideh" was nothing more than a pile of mush with no texture or flavor. The rice tasted like sawdust, and the vegetables were so burnt they looked (and tasted) like something that could cause cancer. When I asked about it, the server told me it was "supposed to be charred." If you work in a restaurant, you should know the difference between charred and burned. The pickled vegetables were unbearably sour, like they had been soaking in straight vinegar for days or weeks. And don't even get me started on the naan -- calling that naan is an insult. It was clearly frozen, par-baked pizza crust straight out of the Sysco freezer, tossed with some seasoning, and still under cooked on the bottom. To top it off, the server needs training -- both in product knowledge and basic service. If you're going to charge premium prices, at least educate your staff so they don't give customers wrong information. And maybe teach them how to set a plate down without dropping it. This place needs to seriously get its act together before charging what they do. Right now, you can't even get me to eat there for free. read more

Their pizza sauce is the bomb and they use a blend of different cheeses to create a delicious bubbly blend. So good! So I went here on a Sunday afternoon around 2ish and my friend and I were the only ones in there for a good hour. Maybe the lunch rush was done, but it was super quiet. Nonetheless, we were greeted and told to sit anywhere. The vibes inside were cute but I felt like it needs more decor. There were a ton of items on the menu, which was a tad bit overwhelming, but glad they had different cuisines you could choose from. I got the chicken alfredo pizza and added spinach & pickled jalapeños while my friend got the kabob koobideh and sweet potato fries. The fries were so good and crispy and even had like a pizza flavor? Can't explain it but definitely try that out! My pizza was surprisingly good, which my favorite part was actually the crust. This all-vegan restaurant has delicious appetizers, pizzas, and brunch options. Wings, queso, fries (sweet potato and regular) , and hummus are all yummy. The pizzas have a great chewy crust and generous toppings. The "chicken" sandwiches are also good. They have vegan meat kabobs, which I have only tried once and thought were only okay. I have never had actual meat kabobs, though, and I know other vegans and vegetarians are big fans of them. I love everything I've had from the regular menu, but brunch options are unlike anywhere else nearby. AMAZING breakfast pizza, breakfast tacos, vegan omelets. The prices can be high compared to omni restaurants, but some specialty ingredients cost more, and it is worth it for a large menu of good vegan items. Wanted to note it so other yelpers don't have sticker shock. They also have very nice creative cocktails! A few quibbles, or things I wish the owners would consider changing: Coffee - they have coffee, but one time they had no nondairy milk/creamer available, and the other times only coconut milk. If you are going to offer brunch, you should have coffee and tea, and it's usual accompaniments available. I know tea and coffee can be a pain for a server during busy times, but it's a noticeable gap in a brunch menu. Another brunch thought: something sweet like pancakes, waffles, fruit and vegan yogurt bowl, muffins would make it easier to entice my whole family to come to brunch. Last quibble/ note of potential: Half the space (the quiet, slightly less open part) is closed to customers - the chairs are on tables. Every time I go in and the server says "Sit anywhere you like," I think, "I want to sit in a chair at that introvert-friendly table with a power outlet, like I did multiple times when you guys first opened, only you guys have made clear it's off-limits." But I don't say that and end up sitting at a bench table because I can't sit at tall bar tables due to physical limitations. And thus I start every delicious meal there internally disgruntled. The opportunity part of this relates to my comments about coffee. I cannot help but notice the restaurant is mostly empty in the afternoons. If the restaurant had coffee, tea, and a few baked goods, and allowed people to sit at the tables with outlets, plenty of vegan and nonvegan students/workers would be happy for a place to study/work and caffeinate. There is a big need in our area for study places with the community college and U of H just a couple exits away. I hope the owners will consider it. My wife and I came here on Saturday night, on a recommendation, and really enjoyed our food. We asked for recommendations and they said the space swamp and the annoying vegan pizza. The space swamp was a little spinach dip pizza and it was delicious! It tasted like actual cheese!!! What an awesome alien inspired and psychedelic experience. Trying a vegan restaurant typically isn't my first choice but have had this puppy saved for some time and was in the area. I will be the first to admit that I have had a lot of not so great experiences with vegan food, but Pythagoras is on the top of my list when it comes to the restaurants that pleasantly surprised me. We tried their Texas barbecue Burger with fries and the Margarita pizza. Surprisingly the Margarita pizza isn't what I expected but the Texas barbecue Burger was pretty on point! The flavors and the textures on the Texas barbecue Burger were more manageable than the textures that came from the Margarita pizza. Here is why.. The Margarita pizza's cheese was in some ways "slimy". However because of the spices, I was able to manage. Typically textures don't really bother me.. I'm not sure exactly what is used to make the cheese. Definitely has to do with it being vegan cheese...it's something a bit different than what I am used to. Still great flavors and by far some of the best vegan food I have tried so far out of the 5 or 6 ive been to. (Baby steps) Their rose iced tea (sweetened) was awesome! Very refreshing on a hot November day in Texas. Overall, I loved everything from the alien murals on the walls to all of the spaceship lights above the bar area.. So fun and super cool! But server Anastassiya K, an attractive young lady, is a terrible server with zero customer service skills, and this is the third time I've had an issue with her getting my order right. The first two times I came to Pythagoras vegan cafe, she was also my server and each time, there were issues with getting the order right (& the second time, I had brought a couple of non vegan friends, and her messing up the order was embarrassing to me). This time (third time), I ordered gluten-free naan, as part of my order, and pointed to the menu item to be very, very clear I wanted the GLUTEN-FREE naan and when it was brought to the table, I ate it, assuming it was gluten-free-- and didn't realize with great dismay until the bill was presented that she had served me the *regular (gluten-containing) naan.* I was really upset about it and she didn't even apologize. I asked her to take it off my bill and she went to the kitchen and I overheard her telling them that I ordered the wrong thing, and she didn't take responsibility for her error. Super snotty attitude. She didn't take it off the bill so I removed the generous tip I'd added. The other two times, I didn't write a review of her deficient serving skills, just let it slide, but this time, I decided potential customers needed to know so they can either ask for a different server or be extra vigilant to make sure she gets the order right. I think it should be labeled all over the restaurant that everything on menu is 100% vegan. The menu has statements of chicken, chicken wings, pepperoni, and other meat words that make you think it has REAL meat. Anyway I went in thinking that it was a restaurant with vegan options so my wife can pick out something. I ordered my kids regular cheese and pepperoni pizza. They disliked the flavor. I got the Prometheus burger and it was alright, nothing to write home about. The only one who seemed to enjoy the food was my vegan wife. Since this was our first time (we were in town visiting relatives) we had the "Space Sauce" on the side since we were not sure how it would taste, etc. But the Space Sauce is not be overlooked - the perfect blend of spice, flavor and texture...it is hard to describe the taste - just go and try it you will not be disappointed. On to the burgers - we have been vegan for six years and have had vegan burgers across the US and in Europe, so trust me when I tell these are wonderful! Like the space sauce a perfect blend of flavor & texture. Their own unique patty is not trying to "be beef" but I would recommend it to any meat eaters out there. And the pretzel buns - how they got those to be fluffy, yet firm, tasty but not distracting, is a complete mystery. But a job well done on both burgers. Highly recommend. Finally, the service was great. We got our orders to go, and it took a bit longer than expected, but the waitstaff was very friendly. I must admit, I don't get the link between ancient Greece and space aliens (that is what the decor is) but hey who I am to judge? They had an interesting chili flavor. Tasty but the flavor got old after a while.. I wanted to try something different so I tried to PFC fried chicken. Aesthetically, they were very appealing. I don't drink but they do have a bar , the bartender made me the best mock tail I ever had. I forgot the name of the sandwich I had (cause I asked what would be recommended). Some of their mixed drinks are made with fresh fruit juice, squeezed personally by the bartender. Their pizza options are unlimited and the crust is phenomenal. I also ordered a bbq sandwich which tasted like the real thing and a couple of desserts that hit the spot! Try the stuffed cinnamon roll. The meat of the meatless meats doesn't taste like tofu or any level of soy. There is no after taste and it legit tastes like the real deal! I tried them sloppy Joe burger with the sweet potato fries and I recommend this to EVERYONE. So many rich flavors and the meat was made out of jackfruit. Phenomenal. I'm a life-long vegetarian, so I was excited to go somewhere where I could eat everything on the menu. It's such a rare feeling! We tried a few different items, including the wings, one of the kebob dishes, and a pizza. I will be the first to admit that vegan food scares me a little, but I was pleasantly surprised! Oftentimes, places will put mediocre vegan items on a menu and call it a day, but you could tell that they really care about their food here. As someone who has never had meat, I found the wings to be really interesting. The "skin" was delicious, and they came with a "bone" (a sugar cane stick), which was an experience I'd never had before. However, it felt a little too much like meat to me, so I couldn't have more than one without feeling weird about it. My partner loved their kebob dish, but I found the level 5 vegan pizza to be lacking. I loved the toppings, the sauce, and the crust, but the cheese had almost a cream cheese texture, which made it highly unpleasant. I think vegan cheese, especially meltable vegan cheese, is the hardest thing to perfect, so I don't fault the establishment at all. Overall, I think people who are looking for meat dish substitutes would really enjoy this place! But because I am picky and not into realistic meats, this wasn't really up my alley.
