Really good food, but pricey. The food was really good but for the portion you receive its not worth it. Its priced at a premium. When you go to a Papadeaux or a similar someplace where the food is expensive like this at least you walk out with leftovers because the portions are so big, so for the price you actually come out getting two meals or a meal and a half depending on your appetite. This place, you get one really good vegetarian meal at a small-ish size portion. The mushroom spring rolls were two rolls cut into four pieces for $5 and a bowl of Bun Hue Huong Sen for $9 which had very little noodles and a few pieces of faux meat. Which with after tax and tip comes to $20 for lunch. No, no, no. The Bun Hue broth was flavorful, dont get me wrong, just too expensive to make this place a regular stop to eat. Which probably explains why I was the only person dining there during peak lunchtime on a weekend. On Bellaire, I'm sure theres a dozen or more really good places to get Bun Hue, so the search continues for a regular place that charges normal prices for a decent size meal. I suppose your paying for all of expensive furniture and fixtures they've decorated with, which you'll probably be able to pick up on eBay or Craigslist when it goes out of business because they just dont get that you cant charge premium prices like that in an area of town where the market is saturated. Its not uptown, downtown, or even Galleria, it's a strip center in the dilapidated part of Bellaire. If rent is that high you've got to charge that much for small portions, you should probably move, but i suspect that thats not the reason. This place is not new and the interior decor is probably long since paid for. Also, has anyone noticed the rising gas prices all of a sudden after the election year? $2.21!! Like 2021! Love this place so much. My sister is vegetarian so I took her here based on recommendations from another vegetarian friend. We were both deeply impressed by the authentic flavors and wonderful service. We ordered a couple of dishes but our favorites were the Bun Hue (like bun Bo hue but without the bo/beef) and the hu tieu. My sister loved the hu tieu most. It was beautifully fragrant and light. The broth was amazing and incredibly delicious. We also got the vegetarian rolls and egg rolls. They were a bit dry because of the filling but I loved how beautifully presented they were. I wish they had the mushroom rolls that day. I would have loved to try them. The egg rolls were good but needed a bit more filling. We also got canh chua (sour soup). It was good but I could have done without the faux seafood. Otherwise, another authentic dish that was pretty good. We also tried the fish in hotpot. It was really spicy but I loved the flavors. And it tastes great as a leftover as well. They also serve beautiful hot tea and the atmosphere is lovely. Excellent food! We ordered the caramelized eggplant (Ca Tim Kho Hung), spring rolls and Bun Hue Chay. The last item was fragrant, and spicy! I drove by here and saw a new vegetarian place and got so excited. My sister is currently going veggie for a few months and we thought we try this place out. Interior decor is very nice and clean. I love all the wood decor. Service was very attentive and friendly. BI CUON- shredded tofu, vermicelli, lettuce, herbs wrapped with rice paper, and served with fish sauce This is my favorite appetizer. The ingredients tasted so fresh. This is the best! NAM VA DAU HU KHO TO- caramelized mushroom and tofu in clay pot This dish has a very meaty texture because of the mushroom. It's very flavorful and can be on the saltier side, but it's served with rice, which helps soak up some of that salt. It's best when ordered with canh chua because that soup gives the dish a sweet and sour flavor combo and helps balance out that salt too. PHO CHAY- rice noodles, tofu, mushroom, vegetarian ham, basil, beansprout, and fried onions The pho is very light, but the broth is very sweet and aromatic. It smells just like regular pho. The meat substitutes are made of tofu and mushrooms. The different textures of tofu and various ways to cook it is really effective in achieving the different types of "meats" you would find in regular pho. It's a great substitute for the meat option. HU TIEU MI CHAY- combination of rice and egg noodles, tofu, vegetarian ham, celery, fried onion, and beansprout This broth is lighter than the pho, but still aromatic. Flavorwise, it's simpler and not as strong as the pho, but the broth is still sweet. CANH CHUA- vietnamese hot and sour soup I really love this soup because it really balances out any dish that's cooked in those clay pots and that are overly salty. It has that sweet taste. It's not really sour it just has a good tomato flavor, but in a lighter form. Love it! Service is amazing and so attentive, the restaurant is super clean, and the food is great! I've been coming back at least twice a week now and I always take different people with me. They are still working on their menu; so more items are coming out. It was super duper delicious. My friends and I have tried lots of veggie restaurants in Bellaire area, but this place is the best. Their ingredients are so fresh and tasty; the portion is generous too; service was nice and friendly. The only downside of it is you wait for ever to get your food on the table because they are being lack of staff now. It took 40 mins for our first visit. The only reason why I'm not leaving Texas. Huong Sen is authentic in the Vietnamese food it serves. Some of my highlights are the bi cuon or spring rolls (their nuoc mam is too good) and the mushrooms and tofu cooked in a clay pot. While the music may be repetitive, I love the attention to detail and the relaxing ambience they create to heighten the aesthetic experience. They seasonally change their little decorative space in the front of the restaurant and heard they spend loads for the orchids at the entrance. We walked in and the interior is amazing. It's hard to believe this once was a boba place. We ordered Bun Cha Gio, Bi and Lau Thai Huong Sen. Bun Cha Gio, Bi was so light and delicious. I'm not sure how they make their fish sauce vegetarian but it smelled like the real thing. Lau Thai Huong Sen was sour and spicy (just a heads up for those that can't handle sour or spicy). The flavor of the soup base was perfect pairing it with the veggies and bun. I also thought it was kind of weird that there wasn't any tofu in the Lau Thai. This is a great vegetarian restaurant that will make you forget that you're eating vegetarian. We got the mushroom and tofu claypot and the fish claypot. Both were extremely flavorful and would definitely order again. The fried tofu was crispy on the outside and soft and buttery on the inside, cooked with mushrooms in a sweet soy sauce.
