Totally tried to scam me. Tried to charge me $467 for diagnostics but after I had my dad call turns out it was a "typo" and it was only $67. Refused to do work on my car unless I paid for EVERYTHING they said was wrong with it. They were also very rude and dismissive. I recommend you take your business elsewhere. Update: Took my car to another mechanic, turns out the parts that they claimed were broken and needed immediate replacement were fine. They will lie straight to your face here. read more

Huron Automotive is absolutely the worst place! I took my vehicle in that was misfiring and they told me it would be $7000 to fix it but really the engine block could have been damaged so I should replace it for $15,000! They also found $5,000 worth of other repairs. I took it to someone I trust and he fixed it for $500. He laughed at the quote I was given and knew the guy who had given it and affirmed that he's a complete liar trying to do unnecessary repairs for an unreasonable amount of money. if I could give it 0 stars I would. read more

A couple months ago I took my car in to get checked out, they gave me a list of things wrong with my car and wanted to charge me over $2000, I took my car to someone i trusted and there was NOTHING wrong with my car. I got a flat late during a weeknight and a tow dropped off my car after business hours. Key drop off was easy to find. I needed my car ASAP the next day for work and they called me right when they opened the next day with a cheaper then expected estimate that was doable in my time frame. Gave me their honest opinions which I greatly appreciated. Offered one more expensive upgrade that I didn't take and I didn't feel pressured to. Got all 4 tires changed for about $400 in about 3.5 hours. Tires feel great, whole process was quick, and nice customer service! read more

This is a review for Huron Automotive on Velp Ave. I have been searching for a new place to bring my car to and I must say that after today's visit, I will be coming back and recommending them to others! I showed up about 20 minutes early for my scheduled appointment and they were thoughtful enough to tell me that it would be about 10 minutes before they could get my car in. No problem! I was early and I understood that. I came in for an oil change and was able to watch them work on my car from the waiting room, which is nice. I also changed my air filter for a fraction if the price that the other place wanted to charge me. The two guys behind the desk were exceptionally nice!! Being a girl, I dread going to any automotive place, because of the typical "oh it's a girl, what does she know" attitude you often times get from automotive places. The store is clean, service was fantastic, the oil was a better grade than i had been getting and I will be back! Great job guys!! read more

I needed my 2006 Jeep Wrangler looked at for some leaking issues...was told to contact Huron from a co-worker. CAN I JUST SAY the service was BEYOND expectations! They came to my place of employment, picked up my Jeep, kept me in the know the whole time and even dropped it off at my house for me. DO NOT go anywhere else, I have no connection or affiliation with anyone who works there and I am telling you that I will never take my cars anywhere but Huron! So...we were in town to visit family for Christmas. On our drive across the country, our windshield wiper fluid stopped working, which made the drive very dangerous, especially across the Rocky Mountains. In addition, our driver's side heating stopped working. So, the day after Christmas we brought in the car to Huron. The man behind the counter was friendly, but lacked detail and explanation. After we gave him the keys, he informed us diagnostics would cost $80-100. But, we just wanted the car fixed. Long story short, after they took all the pieces of the car apart they discovered the washer fluid had frozen our entire system and they needed to heat it, thaw the pipes, and replace the wiper fluid. (We were just happy the motor for the wiper fluid wasn't broken.) Then, they put the car back together. We were shocked to find the total cost to be $200! ($25 just for wiper fluid!). On top of that, when we dropped off the car, we thoroughly explained the problem with the heater; it didn't work on the driver's side unless it was set at 90 degrees. Anything below that, the heat stopped working. Their "diagnosing the problem" was simply turning on the car and letting it run for a half hour. They didn't adjust the temperature control once, so no surprise when they came back to us and said there was no problem, and the heat worked "fine." Oh, and they charged us approximately $40 to just turn the car on. Which was literally the man behind the front desk who turned the car on, but charged us the additional $40 for his walk to the garage and turn the key. So, our heat still doesn't work as we make our trek back across the country. My husband talked them down to $175, but we both felt this was ridiculous. Then, for icing on the cake, we called around and every other place we called stated the work would have only cost $50 at their shop, (and I'm sure turning on the car would have been included.) We called Huron back, referencing their sign to price match, and wouldn't you know it...their response was a cold, firm denial. Granted, yes, they already had our money, but they clearly over charged us, shamelessly. Being that we live out of the state, we obviously won't be using them again, but take this as a word of caution. Be prepared to be unapologetically overcharged. read more

DO NOT bring an operating vehicle here. We brought our collector Camaro in to have a SIMPLE water pump replaced. The car has 53k miles on it and has NEVER seen rain or had ANY issues. We got a call that the water pump was done BUT our car was not starting anymore. They claimed it was now a $900.00 distributor to be fixed. They had NO explanation as to why it was working when we brought it in and NOW was not other than this NEWLY found problem. They even admitted it was running just fine for them when they did the initial work on the water pump. Now our COLLECTOR has been parked in their lot in the rain and is not working. We have to hire a flatbed to go pick it up because I do NOT trust them to replace it. I brought them an operating car, I should be able to pick up an operating car WITHOUT dumb, blank stares, and "I don't know's." read more

my car died less than a mile from huron automotive (i live in apartments nearby), so i was worried about having to pay big money for towing services just for a tow across the street. so i gave them a call & asked the man if anyone would be available to come check it out/jump it at my apartment so i didn't have to pay towing fees, and they did! never thought anywhere would be willing to do this so i was shocked. great place with great employees. i've gotten my oil changed here before too and those are fast & decently priced as well. read more

These guys are fast talking and crazy expensive; with the problem I had partially resolved. First crazy expensive: I needed an ignition coil replaced on one of cylinders of my 2002 Mercury Mountaineer. (On this engine their are 8 coils, one for each cylinder). CarParts.com is fairly typical at $11.97. The highest price could find was NAPA at $42.99. "These guys charged me $90. (just the part, labor extra) Now fast talking: Two days before this service I was in for maintenance. I originally planned on spark plugs but when they quoted me a price of $250, I said no. The plugs were just at there mileage due and this an old ride with 211,000 miles on it so I told them to skip it, I'd run the plugs longer. As luck would have it the engine light comes on the next day so back in we go. They call me with the results of trouble shooting. "Well, the plugs are worn and we looked at the coils and you have a bad one on cylinder #5". They then tried to sell me on doing all the coils. I asked if it was only the one coil causing the engine light, they said yes and I said let's just do the one. I come to pick it up and suprise! they replaced the plugs for a total bill of $417. What's important and hard to convey in a written review is how "the plugs are worn" comment was made: very quick and in a tone of voice to suggest "as you know..." or "nothing we didn't expect to see..." At no point would a reasonable person think they were trying again for an authorization I had already said no to. (By the way, I was only dealing with one person the entire time so it was not a mix up between service techs.) Finally, the "fair and balanced" part: At first I just paid the bill and left, but then I turned around to go back and talk with the owner. I explained and he did not push back at all and simply said "what do I need to do to make it right". I said split the bill for the spark plug job with me and he did. We originally brought our car here for an oil change and tire rotation. We had a coupon and it was close so we thought we would try it. They told us the tie rod had some play in it and we should consider replacing it. We had another mechanic replace the tie rod and they indicated that it looked like some of the bolts on the wheel bearing had been loosened. That there were hammer marks on the wheel bearing and that is the only way they can get there. He said he cannot prove it, but Huron Automotive was the only one to work on it before. Assuming we would come back for the tie rod and then they would also have to replace the bearing. I am very disappointed with the service we received and will never go back or recommend Huron Automotive! read more
