    Cat.4 hurricane cocktail

I was surprised, haven't been here in 5years, it wasn't overly crowded and a very pleasant atmosphere. TV's tuned to several sports networks including my beloved NY Mets station. Our server was very nice, efficient and friendly. Very knowledgeable on the happy hour drinks. I had what they call a category five hurricane, which was very tasty and strong. My entrée consist of blackened and mahi-mahi with a pineapple relish, chutney with their signature lime rice with cilantro and a House salad. Everything was seasoned to perfection and Chutney was delicious, my wife had a Philly cheesesteak with sweet potato fries and my daughter had chicken quesadilla with the Parmesan french fries as my grandson. All the items were delicious. I'm surprised I haven't been here in five years. I'm gonna have to frequent this establishment more often.

I got sited fairly quickly and I will say server I had was very nice and attentive , often checking up on me. I did find cool that place uses ship parts as table, they really sell the theme. The Yucatán chicken nachos were alright, I did like tangy sauce on top and plenty of cheese and beans, but man a very abyssal amount of chicken, had to dig deep to find it, and if this was a no meat nachos it would been perfect, so it fell short. The calypso seafood bowl was the similar thing as well, tasted great abs very well seasoned, but so cheap on seafood and more of peppers, onions over rice bowl, plus I noticed some rice was over cooked and some was done right, same the rice was inconsistent with cooking. Food here was alright, just a case of twisting a few things and it would miles better.

Went to check out a band on a Saturday night. The bar was full but managed to snag a corner seat with a friend, brought over another stool to fit the spot. While I went to the restroom my friend was served a drink seemingly quickly. When I came back, a petite bartender asked me soon after what I want for a drink, I was trying to get a look at what drafts they had, she said she'd find a list and then never ever came back lol. She seemed to disappear, seemed like a newbie. One other bartender was working it, but could I ever get her attention? Nah. Her eyes never seemed to look at customers while making a drink here and there. I don't exaggerate when I say I waited for over 20 minutes to gain her attention, mind you it's not a big bar and it's only people sitting at stools, not packed. I had to basically wave my hands and still not noticed. Nuts. I'll be polite. She was nice when she did finally take notice. The other bartender still nowhere to be seen. Once I got noticed the bartender was responsive and attentive. Wings were decent (buffalo hot was not that hot). Shrimp quesadilla was good but very greasy. Tortillas were basic. Crowd was cool, friendly, band was fun. Decor is cute. Looks like good taco specials during a game. Place was not that busy at the tables.

The Fried Pickles had the perfect temperature, not too hot. The Cyclone dipping sauce is great. The portion is appropriate for 2 as an appetizer as I was alone it was more than enough to curb my Hangry pains while waiting for my Firecracker Shrimp Tacos and enjoying a Coors Lite on Tap during Happy Hour. The bed of lettuce the pickles rest on, for presentation, is useless. May have used leaves of Romaine for a better presentation. The Firecracker Shrimp Tacos w/ a side of chips and salsa have arrived....more to come. Oh My, my, my, my, my!!! I'm from Texas so hot is definitely in my vocabulary but these Firecracker Shrimp Tacos have a kick to them, that will make the hair on your head stand up!!! There's just the right amount of coleslaw to compliment the shrimp and the flour tortilla is the absolute perfect texture. Seriously, with this combination...You just can't go wrong! Make sure you have a cold drink on hand! Enjoy and carry on. Happy Hour does not offer Michelob Ultra or I would have given 5 !

Having a lazy day, but wanted to get out for a bit and have a drink. I had passed by Hurricane's a couple years ago but had not made it there yet. It was only 8 minutes from the hotel, so off we went. The decor inside is really cute. There is outside seating overlooking a stream that would be nice in warmer weather. They had happy hour drinks from 3-6 on a Saturday! Boy was hangry so we got the firecracker shrimp to start. I really liked how crispy they were and the sauce waa relly good. I had the Bacon Jam BLT and hubs had the Chimichurri Steak. There was SO much bacon on my BLT and the bacon jam set it off quite nicely. The steak was cut and cooked good and was flavorful. I got 5 bone in WI gs with Boss Sauce, which I really liked the flavor. I got a side of the Roasted Garlic Inferno, which was supposed to be the hottest, but didn't seem spicy at all and was a little tangy. Glad we made a visit and it hit the spot.

So my first time here and I will say the food was very good. My wings were on point and the drinks were spectacular, I was feeling it after one drink. I am obsessed with fried pickles so anywhere I go, if they have it I order it. These were terrible. It was like a shaving off a pickle. It was very thin, there was more breading then pickle and that was very disappointing. I hope you guys do better with that in the future. I do however recommend it here. The bartender was really dope too.

I ordered delivery from Hurricane in Newburgh, with an estimated delivery time of 8:10-8:20pm. At 8:40, my food had not yet arrived so I contacted grubhub. Grubhub stated the order was marked delivered 8:18pm by the restaurant. Very disappointed in the restaurants service as I never even received a phone call or anything from them, but thankfully grubhub made it right. I'll think again before ever going to or ordering from Hurricane Grill.

But when I want to have an elevated experience with a nod to fine dining, this is my go-to. I always bring friends from out of town here and everyone is impressed. The bartenders make the best martinis and Manhattans you'll find, along with a seasonal cocktail menu that features something for everyone, including mocktails. When I don't want a full dining experience but the hubs and I have a babysitter, we like to sit at the bar for martinis and oysters - SO FRESH! If you don't do oysters, anything on the appetizers list is a wonderful light bite. I don't know what kind of magic the chef uses to make the salads but they are always simple, yet stunning. For dinner, the steak is hard to pass up if you eat red meat. I usually get the single serving NY strip, which is incredible. You can't go wrong. I'm excited to try the porterhouse for 2. My mollusk loving friend raved about the mussels and the fish selection is fantastic. I'm not a big dessert person, but splitting any of the desserts is a treat. Alternatively, the digestif selection doesn't disappoint. The bartenders and bar manager, Nick, are helpful in guiding your taste buds to the right choice. Bud, the owner, whose previous establishments can be read about in some respectfully placed articles around the restaurant, is always accommodating for the busiest place in town. It's nearly impossible to get a seat on Friday and Saturday nights from 6-9, but he will be honest and create a space at one of the little side bar areas if he can. The ambiance is sexy and sophisticated with a touch of whimsy. The toilet paper holder in the restroom always makes me smile (IYKYK). Having been to this restaurant many times, you'll start to see familiar faces as there is now a strong regular crowd. The community and connections that I've found while at Lyonshare have enhanced my experience of living in Beacon. Oh, last thing - brunch is a can't miss, must do culinary event.

Newburgh, NY - we were directed to eat here by a friend after we visited nearby Motorcyclepedia…read more It's a popular local hangout, and the vibes immediately strike me as: if this were my neighborhood watering hole, I'd be a regular here. The decor alone earns a star: rock n roll ephemera covers every surface - walls, ceiling, shelves and display case - and takes me back to the days when I went to "shows" and not "concerts." There's even a small stage in the corner for live music, so that definitely checks out. Our friendly server Dianne hands us menus printed on newspaper, and I needed a moment to decide between the large selection of comfort food classics with creative variations on a theme - burgers, sandwiches, salads, mac & cheese, chilis & soups, burritos, wraps, fajitas, rice bowls, and specialty entrées - finally settling on some apps and a burger to share with my kiddo (which I'm told are good here), while our friend went for a steak bowl. There's a surprisingly large vegan and vegetarian section. Surprising because I haven't come across many veggie-forward pubs that offer anything more than a perfunctory Beyond Burger/black bean burger and an anemic salad. Here, they actually respect the non-carnivore's right to have some decent choices. The "hot" wings are alright and not really hot (though admittedly my spice sensors are likely eroded from my intense affinity for heat), but the poutine was a standout, which we ordered with bbq pork add-on. And while it won't quite pass muster in Montreal (tbh I've rarely had authentic poutine in the US despite seeing it on menus a lot - the cheese curds are never right), it was piping hot and delicious. The revelation was the twisty cut potatoes underneath, seriously additive! I love places with heart, which isn't always easy to define but the effort can be discerned in the atmosphere and the details. The Wherehouse has got that spirit & essence. With 16 rotating draft lines featuring regional brews, and substantial food offerings that far outpaces the typical bar menu, it's a down-to-earth dining establishment with the soul of a dive bar, that makes you feel welcomed like a local from the get-go.

So landing a last-minute res. at this tiny, offbeat bar-restaurant in Newburgh, NY felt like a win. We just wanted a few bites+drinks before heading to Briarcliff Manor for a Halloween party and ended up finding way more than that. Unbeknownst to us, The Dylan Doyle Band played that night and man...was he good. The kid uses funk, rock, blues, R&B in his mix. Plus he sang his own renditions of D'Angelo- to honor him that night, Chaka and several others. I mean...he absolutely blew us away! But imagine this: it's got the vibe of Tarantino's From Dusk Till Dawn bar feel, minus the vampires and gore. This place is welcoming, unpretentious, serves decent bar food and has an excellent vegan menu that goes wayyyy beyond the usual portobello burger. Carnivores are covered too. Drinks are ok too. But do let them know light on the ice. We got music- a live band at that, decent food and had a fantastic time. This is Wherehouse.

The standout of the meal was the special appetizer, the Lobster Escargot. Between the bread service and the rich, bisque-like sauce layered over the classic preparation, I could have happily ended the meal right there. We left no trace behind. I followed with the crab cake and wedge salad. The crab cake was generously sized, very fresh, and exactly what I hoped for. My husband ordered the branzino, which was absolute perfection, beautifully cooked and full of flavor. The sides, however, were less memorable; the smashed potatoes and green beans felt under-seasoned and a bit boring compared to the rest of the meal. The main theme seems to be fresh fish, seafood, and it seems fresh everything else. (Confirmed that they get fresh shipments daily). Our giant table stood out amongst all the other full tables that were in various stages of dining. So, we took up a decent amount of the restaurant space. A reunion with family and so were happy to talk and have some bread, and drinks while they were wrapping up their other patrons also enjoying themselves. The main purpose seemed to be to time taking our orders in a way that they would come out properly. As the food came out, it was one wonderful dish after another. I could name and describe eschar one, but fresh and flavorful is the best way. I can imagine that at the time when we arrived that the kitchen was hopping. The chefs seemed to focus very well on each individual order, so of course it took some, but not excessive time. As it took a little while to start we also were not rushed out. Perhaps if we had gotten there at 5 then I suppose we might have been moved along some, since restaurants need to get some turnover at the peak hours, we were happy to offer some well rewarded patience, which was reciprocated with polite, warm, service and great food.
