I had a terrible experience with Manny at Hustead's after a T-bone accident. He was dismissive of my questions and explicitly said he was "uneasy" with me asking for details. Furthermore, he told my insurance adjuster that he would only provide an itemized repair estimate if I first committed to the repairs--a direct violation of California law (CCR § 3353). Trusting my gut, I moved my 2025 Kia Carnival to a Kia certified collision repair center. They found $17,000 in *additional* damage that Hustead's missed, including a compromised B-pillar and floor pan. This ended up totaling my car, when Manny at Hustead's was adamant that my car would not be totaled. If I had stayed with Hustead's, I'd be driving my children in a potentially structurally-unsafe vehicle. Avoid this shop - they seem to prioritize capturing the repair job over transparency and safety. read more

This is the worst experience I've ever had at a mechanic. The people here are inconsiderate, extremely unorganized, disrespectful and irresponsible. Long story short, my car was sitting here since January until May (LITERALLY 5 MONTHS) after an auto-Collision accident. I couldn't handle the fact that every time I would call, they would either not answer or when they did, they would claim they were super behind on work. After 5 months of no progress, little to no communication from this shop, I couldn't take it anymore and decided to take my car to another mechanic. Overall, taking my car here was a waste of time, money (since Im literally paying for car insurance on a monthly basis for a car that isn't able to be driven) I made an appointment here last year around the beginning of December and I can't believe that they still hadn't ordered the necessary parts for the repair, almost half a year later. Whoever answers the phone is also extremely rude, he kept talking over me and interrupting me when I was speaking. He also admitted to putting my car on the back burner just because I had mentioned I was going to be okay for a little while since I had a rental car from my insurance. That is NO excuse to take your sweet time as most insurances only cover rentals for 1 month as it was in my case. I just said that so they won't feel like I was rushing them but they definitely took advantage of me. I was struggling for months taking public transportation, taking ubers, borrowing cars from friends all because this inconsiderate shop didn't care to prioritize to fix my car. In conclusion, I would say please don't let the other positive reviews fool you as it fooled me. This review is most likely the most honest review they've received on yelp. I really hope other people find out how awful the customer service is, they're definitely not worth anyones business and time! read more

I can't say enough about the staff ... we left our truck overnight for service. Our driver door and been vandalized trying to break in. As we put "the club" on our truck and drove away we were a bit uneasy but thought we'd be fine. Turns out some thieves stole our catalytic converter ... ugh made yet another claim. They hustled, put our truck inside for the night took care of everything so promptly and we're so kind and waived our deductible on the 2nd claim. I went here for a cash estimate on a ding from a parking structure. It seemed such a small thing but repairs cost a bundle. I did not want to go through insurance. Aaron offered to clean up the area to make it less apparent. After getting a comparison estimate from another shop, even higher, I took him up on the offer. We were given two estimates, one that was a much more extensive repair and the other that was more cosmetic. Several months ago, the roof of my truck started making this awful flapping sound whenever it would get up to speed. I took it to the service department at the dealership from which I bought it, and after three days they said they couldn't find the problem so they had just sprayed some extra insulator/filler in there and hoped for the best. Charged me $80 for it too. Of course that did nothing and the problem remained. On recommendation of a friend of my wife, we then brought it here to Pleasant Hill Collision Repair Center, and they immediately diagnosed the problem, had it fixed a day and a half later, and only charged me $60. Horrible service. Brought my car in on Monday to get a quote for paint damage. I was told by the service writer that it would be approximately $4-5k to fix, but that was just a ball park figure as nothing was written up. He told me I'd receive an estimate within the next 2-days. Today is Friday and no word. I called yesterday and the service man said the guy at the front had already left for the day. No problem. He took a message and I stressed that this is "urgent"-- I needed a call back ASAP as my insurance provider specified Oct 13th as the deadline to obtain quote... Friday evening and still no call back. My guess is since they're dealing with insurance, the owner of the car is not their top priority. If the front of the house is poorly managed, best to assume the back is too. Customer service is everything, especially when you're dropping a pretty penny. I'll be taking my car to a shop that is thrilled to have my business. read more

A week later during my appointment, they fixed the damage to my bumper quickly and painted a few bald spots without being asked. Went in based on a referral from my local repair service shop for a dent in the wheel well. I've worked in customer service for 30 years and I could honestly say i don't know what the gentleman was trying to sell me. All the other shops I've spoken with say with confidence, "we estimate" and then go on to describe the expected cost and "this is only an estimate. final charges may be higher. 'C' began with "Well this is the problem" , then went on later with "if we have to do this", "but if this happens we will have to " , "the costs could be, or they might be" ,and used a lot of "we have no confidence in our work" language that we in the corporate world might refer to as "walking the customer out the door because "we don't want their business". I would love to coach this gentleman however I see that yelp has given him many positive reviews .. perhaps I was not giving off a good customer vibe. If so my apologies. "E" the owner was a pleasure to talk to briefly on the phone. I'm quite sure I would have bought from him if he used words of confidence, and explained the $4K work for a 2 inch gash in the rear wheel well, a scraped wheel, and a buff out on the rear portion of the rear bumper about 3" high, 5" long of paint from the contact item. State Farm has them on their list. My truck was hit and the driver left in a parking lot in Lafayette. Took my truck here on recommendation from a friend and I'm glad I did. The truck was returned to factory new and they even did some touch up paint work on door dings. They kept me in the loop throughout the entire process and we're very knowledgeable. We had a small branch fall from our oak tree and hit the new Ford Focus on the roof, just above the passenger side door. BIG dent. Also put a big "door dent" on the lower part of the door. Called around and via Yelp and other sites found some positive reviews of Pleasant Hill Collision Repair. Took the Focus in for an estimate, and they were extremely reasonable, plus they were already connected with our insurance (State Farm). Our agent said this is "comprehensive" and will not charge against us, plus our deductible was $250. This is same $$ you'd pay for one of those "dent pro" guys that come to your house. The shop said the "dents" were too big and it actually was more work that we realized. They don't spot paint, they blend the paint by body panel..etc. Plus they would need to remove side airbags, door trim, panels, maybe the glass... wow. And the car has the pearl white paint, so that was more to match. We dropped off the car the next day, and they said it would take about a week. Well, they got the job done early by two days, and did not have to take out the airbags or the glass. They actually completed the repair, detailed the car, and had it to us several hundred under the estimate. I gotta say, the quality of the work is fantastic. You can't tell it ever happened. I would highly recommend this wonderful shop. First rate, responsive, they fully described the process, the "what if's" and so on. The owner himself wrote our service ticket. We felt that even though we'd never been there before (or needed body repair to any of our cars), we were his "best customer". THIS is how it is supposed to be, how it used to be, and how you wish all businesses were run. Thank you guys at PH Collision Repair Center.
