I really want to give this place more stores, but I just cant. So, I give this place a lot of credit since it's one women doing everything. The grilled pork, bulkgogi sandwich, and duk boki wasn't bad. Our group also order the chicken wings thinking it would be Korean chicken wings that are double fried, glaze, and spiced, but no it was like your normal Costco chicken wings that you buy frozen. My biggest gripe with this place was with my soon du bu. There are other places that make it better like Korea House and even a lil more Americanize place It's Tofu. The one cool thing is that there are veggies in it. What was so bad, you might be thinking??? Well, it was the fact that there was a fruit fly or some type of bug that was in my bowl. That's not the worst part. It was the fact that she tried to deny it. First, when I tried to show her, she said it was a piece of pepper and took out a container of pepper and showed it to me. I dont think a piece of pepper has wings and legs and an elongated body. Then she tried to say, we don't have bugs here. There's a hood over the stove which sucks up stuff so there's no bugs. Later, she said we dont have bugs; that might be a fruit fly or something that was on one of the fruits.She then took it in her hands and tried to look at it and freaking squished it and further tried to say we dont have bugs here. Our table was like yea, after you tried to like squish it. A fruit fly, if that's what it was is still a bug and if it came from your place or a fruit that was at your place: THE BUG CAME FROM YOUR PLACE. She did try to make it better by saying when you come back ill make it for you for free. I don't think I"ll be coming back. My biggest problem was the initial denial and trying to prove us wrong. We know what a bug looks like. I think she thought we were trying to get a free meal or something. Totally not the case. read more

I ordered this via grubhub today for lunch. A coworker and I both ordered the bibimbap bowl. The bowl came with so little meat that I would consider the meat a garnish instead of part of the meal. To be honest all the bowl was was rice, bean sprouts, an over cooked egg, and gochujang sauce that was clearly scooped right out of the container. I then called the restaurant assuming that something was wrong with our bowls. The people I talked to on the phone were not friendly or helpful. They also told me that my bowl was made correctly... I would recommend any other Korean restaurant in the Salt Lake City area over this one. read more

To my Yelp friends... I need help here. This is a small, hole-in-the-wall joint that cannot handle getting really popular without me never being able to get a seat here again... So I am telling you in semi-private. Best Korean in town. Bar none. She makes her own Kimchee (not just the cabbage, all of it, from scratch), she is amazingly funny, nice, and generous with portions, info, advise, and time. I love it here. Try the Kalbi, Bulgogi, Bi Bim Bop, chicken salad... all of it. Prob. best Korean in Utah. This is a newfound favorite for authentic Korean food. The dishes are varied, but I highly recommend the soon tofu soup and bulgogi combo. Both were excellent, and such a great price! Actually, everything is really reasonably priced here. They have a wide selection of sushi rolls, all really inexpensive. This place is a great gem. The sushi is pretty good and the Korean food is definitely better than most places I've been too. We ordered some sushi, bibimbap, and bulgogi and tempura veggies. I love the flavors in the dishes. They have pretty great service. I think this is a great place for some pick me up sushi and Korean food. read more

I adore the owner of this place, she is the same owner of the Cafe Seoul that was located in the same space as a Panaderia near Century 16. She's very kind, open, and treats you like you're one of her children. Another great thing about Cafe Seoul is that it's very affordable with a majority of the entrees being under $10. That being said, it really kills me because I think I have too high of expectations for Korean food. I ordered the soon dubu, and found myself less than satisfied. There's something about the broth that just wasn't what I was looking for. So far Myung Ga has the best soondubu around town, so maybe I was comparing it to them too much. I also tried my boyfriend's order of the galbi, but I also found the flavor was lacking, and she had explained that it hadn't marinated as long as it normally does. Maybe it was because we came for dinner instead of the lunch rush, but I just was underwhelmed. In the meantime, I'm still waiting for a 5 star korean place in salt lake. read more

MMMMM! I love this place. The kalbi here is absolutely delicious! It melts in your mouth. The bulgogi is awesome too. The prices are very reasonable, around 10-12 dollars for quite a bit of food! The owner of the restaurant is adorable and incredibly sweet! She cooks and waits on the tables all by herself. I don't know how she does it! It's a small place, but very welcoming. Home grown and the owner is incredibly kind and sweet. She's quick to greet and happy to help order you some great Korean food. And the food is great and reasonably priced. And when I say reasonably - it's better than (won't name other Korean places) but both of them are expensive. I spent about $28 (included tax and tip) - had a main meal, soup, and some sides of kimchi, potato, cucumber and bean sprouts. I even have left overs for work today. Now, I eat out quite a bit and so do my friends. We've tried all of the Korean foods in Utah and we really like this one. It's a small quiet hole in the wall (so-to-speak), but I'm the kind of person that loves great food and kind service. I'll be coming back very soon and showing off my new favorite place to a few new friends. read more

Found this place by accident and glad i did cos i will be coming back to this place whenever i get a craving for some beef bulgolgi. I've been to a number of Korean restaurants since moving to UT and they've all been horrible. The bulgolgi at this place actually tasted like bulgolgi and the serving size can easily feed 2 people and all for $12. It does come with rice and some sides. Maybe i misread the menu but it's funny that this is a Korean place but they have more Japanese food than Korean. read more

If you're in a rush, I suggest you call first or go somewhere else. There was only one gentleman working and I assumed he was the chef as well. So it took awhile before we were able to order, get our water, then the food. We ordered chicken wings, soon tofu soup with seafood, and bibimbap to share. The best for me was the soon tofu soup. Went on a Saturday night around 7:15. The restaurant wasn't very busy. The waiter sat us at table that still had dirty dishes from the previous guest. Waited about 35 minutes while the same waiter took orders on other tables that came after us. The waiter acknowledged that that she hadn't took our order and continued to take other orders. I always order the Galbi at HWA and have enjoyed it. The last couple of times the Galbi has changed. It no longer seems grilled, with that smokey, slightly sweet flavor. Now it is really sweet and seems Pan fried. Won't be ordering it any more. It's too bad. Nice place with nice people. read more

Being Korean, I have had my fair share of the cuisine. The food is truly a crime. It is easily the worst korean food I have ever had. Everything is sweet. Way too sweet. The seafood was not fresh. The meat that is traditionally grilled was in stead sautéed in a pan leaving it soggy, tough, and sweet. Truly a major disappointment. I would never go back, nor would I recommend it to anyone. It was a train wreck. The bulkogi tasted like it was rancid. After a complaint, they brought out a plate of Kalbi drenched in some uber-sweet teriyaki sauce which didnt taste Korean at all. The kimchi chigae was subpar.... too much chicken broth taste and not enough kimchi taste The bibimpap was OK. It was the first and last time I'll eat here. I have only ever ordered the bolgogi! Sooni made it best. She has such a great personality and really cared about the customer. She was amazing with my kids. I did eat there after she retired and the prices went up. Was not pleased about that so I haven't returned. It is not affordable for my whole famiIy to eat there. Everything was underwhelming. We were excited to find 1/2 price sushi at a relatively quiet place, but there's a reason they don't see as much business as a lot of other places. I'm not one to generally knock service, but the waitress was all on her own and seemed annoyed if we ever asked for anything. It took a very long time for the food to come out and just wasn't worth the wait. The bibimbap didn't have any crispy rice and beef chunks in it weren't very good. The sushi was just okay and very small in portion size, but not bad for the price you pay. We probably won't be back. read more

Truly amazing home Korean cooking. The Daen-jang Jjigae is all made from scratch, no store bought daen-jang. The bulgogi was fantastic, great marinate. The meat was less flavorful and more chewy than usual, and the whole dish was not very flavorful. I went here recently for lunch with 2 girlfriends. The decor isn't very up to date, but that is fine, it was clean. I ordered potstickers, mama roll and soup.
