This is probably my favorite restaurant in Utah. Incredibly, authentic Korean and Japanese cuisine for INCREDIBLY affordable. For example, they have a deal where you get a full sized serving of bulgogi AND a tofu stew for $13. At other restaurants, you pay more than that just for bulgogi. Such a delightful and elegant and tasteful addition to an otherwise bland and blah industrial area in Murray, UT. I was very impressed with the decor inside and the dividers between the tables and the pleasant, friendly, professional and prompt service we received. Also impressed with the quick reply on the bland 5 star review with no comments. (I added the rest of this after the reply) My partner and I ordered Korean. Chicken bulkogi and Bibimpap. The food was well prepared, and tasted great. My friend ordered #2 spice, which she thought was too hot, but liked the food. We'll just have to try again on the spice index. lol. I put about 3-4 oz of gochu jang on my bibimpap and it was great. I loved that the panchans were actual korean dishes... kimchi, radish, bean sprouts and cucumber. I've been to 3 other "up scale" korean places in the last few months and their panchans were terrible. I will have to come back and work my way through the rest of the menu. read more

Food is great but bump the service!!! The young waitress deserves a 0 for her service but I can't do that on here so she's going to get a 1. She's so quick to seat you but forever & a day to come back just to ask for our drink order. Yet, another customer comes in - is seated & she comes straight back with water. Proceeds to take their drink & food order. Bruh.... We're ready to order but noticed she ain't walk by our table in a minute .. she's going through the back to the kitchen to get to the front . Passing through Murray and staying at the holiday inn suites, gave this place a try. The weird part is the restaurant is located in a business building (corporate offices). We ordered; Mum roll Xct roll Can roll Oh roll (super spicy) Pot sticker 12pc The sushi tasted fresh and flavorful, the rice was soft but sticky like it's supposed to be! The prices were lower than your average sushi places a California roll is $2.99! The employees are very authentic and hard to understand their English, but that doesn't bother us! The restaurant is very big and spacious but was completely dead. I would eat here again in the future, and would recommend. Can't give it a 5 star because it's not the best I've had but it's worth it if you're in the area. read more

Really good food here. The options of Japanese sushi and Korean dishes initially made me skeptical of this place, but boy was I impressed! The sushi here is very good. They don't stuff their rolls with rice or avocado. The ratio of fish/crab to rice is very generous here. Besides this, the Korean dishes are delicious! Really truly mouth watering. I ordered the kimchi jigae and the flavors were dead on. This place has the best Kimchi I've had in Utah! Perfectly fermented and salty. Overall, this place is amazing. Cute lil cafe by my work that's yummy AND affordable. Their sushi rolls were all 50% off, so one of the most affordable sushi places in town. It wasn't super busy when I came in, which was good since I don't normally have a long lunch break. Their Korean food was super good too! And the portions are huge!! The 4 stars is an average between the 5 star service & 3 star food! I'd definitely come back to visit the amazing Waitress/Chef and moreso when I have a korean food craving! Food Linda V, Ngoc V, Evelyn T, and I tried: Complimentary vegetable tempura! It was taking a little while for the Chef to get us our food since she's the only staff-member, so she gave us a whole plate of mixed vegetable tempura! It was really good! :) Bi bim bap. I didn't personally like this that much because there wasn't that much veggies/meat and too much rice for my preference. I also didn't like that the egg was well-done. I've become used to ordering bi bim bap yolky, but if you like your bi bim bap more homemade-like, you'l like it! :] Kalbi & Bulkogi (half-half). We ordered Bulkogi, but they didnt have enough, so we ordered Kalbi and the chef threw in whatever she had left of bulkogi. It was really nice of her, and it was super good! I really enjoyed it. Duk boki. It was spicy and sweet. I tried a little bit of it and really enjoyed it! Haven't had duk boki more than a handful of times, so I don't want to say it's super good/not. There are tons of sides that the waitress/chef kept offering to refill! She's super nice like I said already! She's also very funny and we found her dancing with my niece Evelyn T the entire time. She even gave her M&M's and made sure to keep everyone entertain. +1 Star: Intimate and small. +1 Star: Amazing, friendly service! +1 Star: You don't have to worry about not finding the workers because you see the kitchen while you're eating! +1 Star: They open late! A solid four stars from me, but it comes with a word of caution: Sooni is retiring. In fact (and unbeknownst to me) today was her last day. Sooni has been the heart and soul of the joint (no pun intended) since she started the cafe and hung with it while it was located in the panaderia across town. As I understand it, the menu is sticking around, the restaurant isn't going anywhere, but there is a new owner coming in to run the place. A Korean fellow, and she's hopeful he will be even better than here. This merits investigation, as our current Korean scene has yet to really explode as we've seen happen in other cities across this U.S. of A. As for my meal today, I had the bi bim bap, and it was hearty. Plenty of food for 7 or 8 bucks, and I especially liked the pickled goodies. I wish the egg had been a bit runnier, but that's just a personal preference as I love to pierce it and spread the yolk all over the rice. Big ups to Mike H who went out of his comfort zone and even agreed to have Korean food today, and bigger ups to him for ordering the bulgogi. He ate every bit of it, and whether that was for my benefit or he actually enjoyed it, this guy has historically been a picky eater so I can only assume the latter. The space is simple and a little hard to find. Commerce is aka 320 W and turns into 300 W. Go north off of 53rd and look for the University Of Utah sign. Turn in there (west side of the street) and find this place on the east-facing wall of the building. A nice, quick, cheap (depending on the order--short ribs, bulgogi, and meaty items run $13+) options when you want something different. read more

We found this gem by accident but it was well worth it!! On our road trip through Utah, my girlfriend pointed out the restaurant as we passed. We went in and were greeted with a warm hello and took a seat. We both ordered the Hot Bowl Bibimbap and potstickers. It was as good as (actually better) some of the highest rated restaurants back home. I gave it 5 stars for having a great menu of my favorite Korea dishes and the service was top notch. read more

Sushi has good quality and doesn't taste cheap. Prices are nice and affordable and the place is nice and cute. Would be good for a date night without breaking your bank. I wish I could give this place a 3.5 . I spent a whole week intensive course at the university of utah murray campus which was in the same complex as this restaurant . I've was here about 4 years ago and the place was different, they told me its a different owner. I was glad . The old lady was very nice and cute but the food was not. Enough of the history. While I was there, there were 2 different girls that waitressed there on different days of the week. They were both nice and sweet but if it was busy then they were rushed and slow. I mean, it's a family own place with one chef and one waitress so I understand. When they are not too busy they took care of you well. I had their tofu soup 2 different time , one time with beef the other time with seafood . I don't recommend the seafood . They're you're typical package mixture seafood and they give you a small amount of it. The beef was good though. I eat korean food a lot so I would say it was comparable to myunga . I give it 4/5 . I had the beef bulgogi as well . The flavor was good , it was your typical bulgogi . I had their salmon nigiri and it was good . Their rice was cooked right and the salmon had more fat than I expected . I like the fatty salmon but a lot of people would've had a problem with it. I personally like things with fat on it . I also got the bu doki ? I think that's what it was called . It was rice cake in spicy sauce with fish cake . In the menu it said it would have veggie . When it came out it didn't and when I asked they said they have been leaving it out for a long time because people would never eat the veggie. I was disappointed because it said it did on the menu so I was expecting it. I suggest taking that part of the menu so there's no more confusion . Other than that I believe it was pretty authentic. The fish cake could be cut a little thicker but it tasted like what bu doki should taste. I had their gyoza , it was good. I can't complain. It's decent place if you're in the area and want korean food. I recommend trying it once if you're taking classes at the murray campus. It's literally next door. Personally I don't see myself coming back but unless I have to take another class at the murray campus. I had a nice experience with them during that one week. I liked the hidden away location here as we drove up for lunch. Convenient and plenty of parking. There are only 6 or so tables so best to come when it's not busy. Seated ourselves at a table and service was quick and well done. The place is small and there are no booths, and there are signs and TV and homey decorations. The sushi was decent, I just had some safe choices this time. They have Korean too which my friend enjoyed. I had a strawberry smoothie which wasn't too sweet, was kind of heavy on the ice, but mixed well (I think it was a powder mix). Unfortunately I got a minor tummy ache, probably from the smoothie, so I won't order that again, but the next time I need an inexpensive local spot to get my sushi fix I will probably recommend this as an option. read more

Cafe Seoul is hidden away within a business looking area. The outside of the building looks like a dentistry. The sign is also kind of small, so I almost missed it while driving. The outside looks pretty plain, kind of modern. Inside, there is a wooden theme. It is pretty small and there are only about 10 tables available. Ray and I went there at a time where there wasn't anyone else but us (3PM), so we didn't have to wait for a table. The service was fast because the waiter only had to focus on us; however, that turned out to be a bad thing. I wasn't ready to order, but she kept coming back every few minutes and eventually just stood there while I scanned the menu. I ordered and we waited for our food patiently. As we were eating, she kept looking at us frequently. She eventually gave us our check within the first 10 to 15 minutes we were eating. We were far from done, but she gave us our check and kept looking at us to see when we would finish. This made me feel uncomfortable because I was facing her and I could see all the times she kept looking at us. Ray had his back to her, so he didn't have a problem. I come from a Korean family and so I understand Korean and I overheard her say to another co-worker that we were still eating and we hadn't left yet, but she said it in a way like she wanted to rush us or we were bothersome to her, almost like she had somewhere to be, but we were keeping her here. It had only been about 15 minutes into our meal when she said that. The food was okay. The Bulgogi was more on the sweet side, rather than savory. The Kimchi also had a little sweet taste to it; I think there was sesame oil within the Kimchi, which made it taste more sweet rather than spicy. The Pork Tofu Soup had kind of a funky smell/taste, but that just depends on how they make it. I think it was the pork grease that made it smell/taste that way. What was kind of unreasonable was that Ray ordered soup and meat, but all he got was a tiny, tiny bowl of rice to eat with his dishes, and an extra tiny bowl of rice cost a dollar. My Ramen with Rice Cakes and Sushi were fine. They were pretty decent. I didn't have any problems with my food. At the end of our meal, they gave us this small free dessert item. It kind of tasted like an ice cream cake. Ray and I thanked her for the small dessert and went our way. I think this place is more of a sushi restaurant than a Korean restaurant because there are 2 pages full of sushi options on the menu, but only 1/2 a page of Korean options and 1/2 a page of Japanese options on the back of the menu. The name is Cafe Seoul, but I'm not sure I understand why it's called that if only 1/4 of the menu are Korean items. The sushi was decent and I had no problems with it, but I had many problems with their Korean food. Of course, it could be because I come from a Korean background, but at other Korean restaurants, I have never had as many negative things to say about the food than this one. read more

I'm a little snooty when it comes to Korean food -- I have family in Korea, I'm accustomed to excellent west-coast Korean cuisine. I provide this info not to make myself sound super sophisticated, but just so you know that I'm not giving it a good rating based on novelty. I found myself trapped in the office park near this restaurant and looking for a good lunch place, and gave Cafe Seoul a try. I was in every way pleasantly surprised. My friend and I had the pork bulgogi, kimchi bokkeumbap, and split a maki roll of some sort. All of their sushi is permanently marked as 50% off, so unless you're a total sucker, you'll realize that they serve very cheap sushi rolls. Again, it wasn't gourmet, but it was actually really quite delicious. The bokkeumbap was a bit soggy for my tastes, and was the worst thing we ordered, but still tasty enough for me to eat most of it. And the bulgogi was actually pretty damn good -- lots of bulgogi (especially at this kind of hole-in-the-wall place) tends to be way over-sweet, but this had a more balanced flavor and a nice bite to it when my friend ordered it spicy. The banchan included pretty decent kimchi (naturally), bean sprouts, pickled radishes of some kind, and potatoes in some kind of dark sauce. They were all good, if not remarkable. The service was attentive and polite, so no complaints there. The decor is nice, the place is clean, and there's the requisite K-Pop playing in the background. If I actually worked around here, I'd eat at this place all the time for lunch. read more

I really LOVE this place because it feel like you are home but your mom is a Korean lady and makes some really good Korean home cooking. The lady (cooking and serving) opened the restaurant for fun because she enjoying cooking. She is really nice and let you try out some random cooking she just made. Everytime I go there, I tried out different dishes; Bi Bim Bap, Korean short ribs, and Choon Chu Dak Kalbi. And all of them are really delicious, especially the Korean short ribs. My boyfriend (butthead and unadventurous), in another hand, he always has the Korean BBQ Chicken. Too good and too stubborn to try anything else. The Korea side dishes: her kimichi, cucumber and daikon are the best. Not too sour and not too spicy. Just right! I ordered this via grubhub today for lunch. A coworker and I both ordered the bibimbap bowl. The bowl came with so little meat that I would consider the meat a garnish instead of part of the meal. To be honest all the bowl was was rice, bean sprouts, an over cooked egg, and gochujang sauce that was clearly scooped right out of the container. I then called the restaurant assuming that something was wrong with our bowls. The people I talked to on the phone were not friendly or helpful. They also told me that my bowl was made correctly... This is a newfound favorite for authentic Korean food. The dishes are varied, but I highly recommend the soon tofu soup and bulgogi combo. Both were excellent, and such a great price!
