We picked this location because we brought our dogs with us. When we checked in the woman was pleasant but emphasized that the dogs would be an extra $100. Okay so maybe people traveling with dogs don't know they are an extra charge. I gave her the benefit of the doubt. In the morning I took the boys out to pee with no problem, later that morning when I took the boys out, we were yelled at in front of four other people. Apparently there is not a close location for dogs to relieve themselves close to the door, this woman told me the only location for dogs to go potty was by the pet relief station. See pictures. In the video I posted there is grass all around but again, not for dogs! I get having a designated place, it seems however that they prefer you don't bring your best friend with you. The small space they allowed for was minimal and walking around the property wasn't friendly either as the sidewalk is only available on one side. There isn't a sidewalk in front of the property either. We had to walk across the busy street to get in the walk my babies, French Bulldogs, need. We won't be coming back. Stayed here and had to leave a day early to avoid getting stuck in the Atlanta airport during the January 10th snow storm. The "manager"(whomever that actually is, the manager was conveniently not available) would not budge at all on the refund policy and still charged for that day. They even gave me the runaround by telling me to talk to the booking agency when it is the hotel's discretion whether to refund. The room also had a running toilet and the refrigerator did not work at all. Will not ever be staying at a Hyatt hotel again! read more

Hyatt Place is a good clean hotel with a nice lobby. Rooms are a decent size. Plenty of parking. That is most of the pluses. The Minuses. Check in staff was on auto-pilot and felt they were doing me a big favor by putting me on the top floor. When I got to my room, the maid was still cleaning up, so she went down to the lobby with me and they gave me another room. Strange as there were very few other guests during my stay, so plenty of vacant rooms. The rooms have a weird layout with half "partition" between the bed and the couch. See my pictures. Elevators are super slow and oily smelling. Breakfast was a joke, you had to fill out a paper form the night before with your choices and pick it up in the morning in a brown bag. Hyatt place had a nice set up for a mini-buffet but they were not using it. Basic TV channels. Soft mattress, but I prefer firm. For the price tag of ~$150 per night in a small town expected more (in New York this would be a steal, but was high for Columbus, GA). Tip: Free bottle of water if you are a Hyatt rewards member. read more

Hotel is in a good area of north Columbus, with plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby. Some are even within a very short walking distance; like on each side of hotel. Just about any food or store you could need are within a mile or two. Lobby was clean and they're asking customers to wear masks, although some don't. Arrived at 6:00pm and they told me my room still wasn't ready; housekeeping was cleaning it. Was told to come back in about 30 minutes to check in. They can't have the rooms cleaned by 6:00pm? Later in the week housekeeping came into my room despite the "do not disturb" sign hanging on the hallway side of the door. The room itself was nice. Plenty of room, sofa, mini bar with tiny refrigerator, desk, one or two beds, and one TV about 40". No in-room microwaves and no room safes for valuables. The no microwave was bad since they're breakfast is really terrible right now. More open floor space than most people need really. Bathroom is odd in that the sink and counter are in the bed area at the foot of one bed. The shower/tub combo and toilet are in the actual bathroom. The breakfast area is closed, so they're giving out sack meals if you turn in a little piece of paper the night before. You get an option of hot or cold breakfast, but really both pretty much suck. The bottled orange juice is about the only thing I enjoyed; trashed the rest. As mentioned above, they don't have microwaves in each room. They have one by the ice machines on the 1st and 5th floors only. So not only does their breakfast options suck, but it's harder to make your own breakfast. The beds in my room were quite uncomfortable; mattresses were hard and I could feel the inner springs. One even had a high spot in the middle, like each side had sunk from so many people sleeping on it (how old are these mattresses?). Needless to say, even though I'm saying it, I didn't sleep that well during my stay. One tip for the HVAC unit, set the fan to Low and adjust the temp to how you want it. This will make the fan run all night, drowning out the outside noises. Plus I found out the first night the AC would wake me up all night every time it turned on (it's rather loud). So leaving the fan on constantly helped. read more

Horrible. We got in during the middle of the night and our room was pitiful. Toilet kept running off and on all night, smoke detector periodically chirped, multiple outlets in the room didn't work and the staff couldn't care less. If we weren't so completely exhausted and just wanted to sleep for a few hours we would have demanded a new room. The door to our room was dented and chipped - not sure how that even happens. The morning breakfast was disgusting. Waffles as tough as leather, eggs that tasted like they'd been cooked and frozen then reheated, sausage that could probably break a window and the milk tasted off. I wouldn't stay here again if it came down to either sleeping at the Bates Motel or having to stay at this hotel. Gross. read more

**Updates** 8.14.2023 The manager on duty would NOT print out a receipt that showed we checked out after the horrible first night. Basically, Stephanie A. wanted to keep us on the books so it appeared that we stayed all three nights. That way, it would be nearly impossible to dispute the charge with Bank of America. Very tricky! Upon request, she wrote a note on her business card. BOA will be receiving this image to continue forward. Such a shame that customer experience means NOTHING to this hotel. We drove by the property early in the day on 7.2.2023. Based on location and outside conditions, we did NOT want to stay. The hotel was dilapidated and the grounds were not clean and taken care of properly. The location's management team would not budge on "policy" so we would be stuck there for 3 days. Since we did not have other options lined up, we would need to check in later. We arrived later in the evening of 7.2.2023 after visiting family locally (we called to confirm late check-in). We went up to the room and it was nasty! The carpets were dirty and there was pretty severe water damage, paint sagging over the beds, etc. My wife has severe allergies to hold. We asked to change rooms (the desk clerk/night audit person was NOT friendly about it). Her response to the phone call was "You can come to get your keys", not "I am sorry that the room was not up to par", etc. We finally got situated in the second room and were asleep around 2 am. At approx 4 a. m. , the smoke detector started to chirp loudly about every 35 seconds. This lasted until approx 5:30 am when the battery finally failed. We did NOT want to stay more nights. The management staff refused to refund even the last two nights since we had been forced to stay one night. Zero compromise. This was our worse experience in traveling for over 30 years! The images shown for the property are not representative and not accurate to the actual condition of the property. Hotels.com and Hyatt Place should be ashamed of false advertising! Over the years I have enjoyed staying at any Hyatt place hotels. This stay was very different, in a bad way. Pros: Friendly Staff, Hotel price of $108 per night was about average with cost, location was good, as there are many shops and restaurants near by. The mattress was soft. Cons: The Breakfast is a joke. You get a slip of paper and you circle which item you want for each day. Website states free daily breakfast, but should change to say small continental breakfast. Upon entering the room, we noticed a ladybug on the wall. This is not a big deal, until we noticed they were throughout the room. The bathroom sink is not inside the bathroom, it is out in the open right across from the bed. So if your other guest are sound asleep, you have to turn on this super bright light to wash your hands, brush your teeth all in the open. The toilet seat sat very low, not your standard height. My husband is 6" 4 it was hard for him. There is nothing to grip on to, to help you down. Just a toilet and a shower. The TV only has basic cable, on the TV card in the room it had HBO as a channel, nope this is not true. We could not find movies, there are at least 3 ESPN channels, that's good if you love sports. There is a fridge in the room, but when I went to heat my food up, there is no microwave in the room. The next day, as I went to go to the ice machine, there is a small microwave sitting on a table. So everyone uses the same microwave and no hand sanitizers in site. Dirty hands and all can use it at will (Covid). The next day when we came back from the store around 11am, we asked where is your coffee station, we were told coffee is made during breakfast hours, after that it is put away until the next morning during breakfast. This is a first for me. Most hotels offer coffee all day. The next day would be our checkout day, we asked the young man for a late checkout and he said he can give us an additional 30 mins of 12:30, we agreed to that. The last day of our stay we had a trail of ants in the bathroom. We went down during breakfast the last day of our stay to get coffee and reminded the young lady about our 12:30 checkout, she said we can't do late checkouts at this time we have a huge party coming in. The shock on our faces after we were given the okay. I knew she was lying, the hotel was practically empty of our entire weekend stay and check in isn't until 3pm. This will be our last time staying here. read more

Staff - the staff was very hit or miss. There were a couple that were super nice a few that were not so much. Breakfast- COVID obviously plays a part in this but the food was rough, really not worth the wait and when I filled out my preferences early, every meal order was wrong. Rooms- They were clean, but they were VERY outdated. The beds felt very old, to the point you could feel the springs. They're were noisy too. I woke up every time I rolled over. The rooms are not boise dampening at all either. I worked nights and every morning at 8 I woke to talking in the hallways and vacuumes running above and beside me. Very annoying after the 3rd/4th night with little sleep. read more

PROS: This hotel is in a great location to a ton of restaurants and shopping! We loved the personal touches Hyatt provided such as the welcome box we had in our room upon arrival with a handwritten card, snacks, masks, and sanitizer. We also liked how they're doing to-go breakfast boxes for COVID restrictions. Traveling with a toddler, snagging a room with a king bed and pull out sofa was much preferred to the usual two queen room, because they put a clever little divider between the king bed and the sofa. That let us all be in the same room but FEEL like two different rooms which helped our toddler go to sleep easier on his own. Our shower appeared to be recently renovated and was very nice. CONS: There was no microwave in the room, which was weird because they gave us a bag of popcorn as part of our welcome gift but we couldn't cook it. There was some dirt and hair in the bathroom floor next to the shower that made me feel like we weren't in the cleanest hotel and that freaked me out a bit with COVID raging again and nearly caused me to leave a 3 star review instead of 4, but their niceties bridged the gap. Also the HVAC was finicky - at one point we couldn't get it to kick on and stay on but after messing with it for five minutes it finally kicked on and kept us at 65 all night. :) Overall, this was a good value for the money and we would stay here again - but if there's any housekeeping issues the second time we'd likely select something else the next time. read more

This was one of the worst hotel stays I have ever been to. We stayed here one night and it was awful. There were bugs all in the couch and the couch bed was completely broken. I have a family of five and because of the broken couch bed we had to have THREE people in ONE bed. Ridiculous. I am attaching pictures for reference of the broken couch bed. It was gross, unsanitary, and unusable. What could have been a great hotel stay turned I'd not the nightmare from hell. We stayed here unexpectedly during a trip. We booked a room last minute. The customer service was great. They even called the Texas Roadhouse next door to see if they were still open so we could eat dinner. It's in a great location. The rooms were very clean. The only complaints is that the pet deposit isn't listed anywhere so they say they are pet friendly but do charge a substantial amount to allow your pet to stay. We even had a crate with us. Also the breakfast buffet could use some work. Great coffee though. read more

Stayed here 4 times before. Worst experience ever! I have never been so embarrassed in my life. I raved about this place and made family stay here. It was filthy and run down. What happened? We had stayed before and it was great. Dirty couch and carpet, leaky sink and more. Rude staff. Phones didn't work. My mother in laws tv was blurry and clock was broken. My 74 yo mother in law had to keep coming over to check the time. Someone threw up in the hall and I stepped in it. Called the front desk to ask they clean it Next morning still there. That afternoon still there! When I told the manager how gross the hall smelled and how disappointed I was in our stay she bitched at me. Yup! You read that right. She snapped at me! I assume it is always busy because of fort Benning. That is why we were there. The room was less thane expected for a Hyatt. The AC leaked and soaked the floor and the tub wouldn't drain properly so you stand in yours and probably someone else's waste. Staff was friendly and helpful and the drinks were good as well. Close enough to the military base Fort Benning but only a few miles from downtown, Hyatt Place is a good choice if you ever happen to find yourself in Columbus, Georgia. That's a big IF. There's not too much happening here otherwise. I spent a few days here while my boyfriend was in his last week of training before deployment. I was able to stay busy with the nice office area, giant L shaped couch, big screen TV, and super comfy king sized bed, I was completely content in the room. I worked out in the tiny 4 machine fitness center, but they also give you access to a full sized gym down the street! Towels at the pool made my 92 degree days a bit more bearable. I wouldn't eat lunch or dinner here, but the complimentary breakfast is not to be missed. It's no continental b-fast, there's a full spread of healthy food and breakfast sandwiches. Great hotel, a few issues. I travel to Columbus for work from time to time , and this is my preferred hotel. I'll review my most recent visit. The good: Great location - can walk to El Vaquero, Texas Roadhouse, BK, The Office Sports Bar, Samurai 2, etc. Friendly staff - the ladies on shift the first night especially were amazing; they seemed to know everyone's name and greeted us by name as we came and went. Received 2 complimentary drinks just for staying there. The rooms are large and very clean. The less good: The first room they put me in was next to the ice machine room, which was super loud. To their credit, they moved me with no problem. My shower drain was slow to the point of nearly being clogged, which is gross. I mentioned this to the front desk when I left for work the first day, and I was very disappointed to find it wasn't fixed the next morning when I showered. Also, I had my Do Not Disturb sign out, and Housekeeping ignored it; knocking and knocking on my door while I was in said clogged shower. The TV remote needed some new batteries, making it very very slow to respond, when it responded at all. All in all, good hotel, though they have a bit of work to do. read more

IF I were able to give this hotel NO stars I would! During our stay my IPAD came up missing right off it's charger in my room. Before we left we told the manager and to this date there has been no resolution. Her response was that they're not responsible for anything while you're there, really?! Not to mention the day we checked out, the cleaning lady knocked on our door before checkout to see if we were almost ready to leave so she could clean our room, never have I been rushed to checkout. Dealing with this hotel has been an unprofessional experience and I definitely don't recommend this particular Hyatt to anyone! read more

I was really disappointed in my stay with this Hyatt. I was overcharged for my room by 15$. They say it is an accidental fee but no one informed me of it during check-in or during check-out. Also, the manager Stephanie Alexander falsely charged me for a smoking fee. She was suppose to send me pictures to prove that I had smoked in the room (which I know don't exist because I did not, and have never smoked in hotel I have ever stayed it), but she lied and never provided anything. Why would I chose a non-smoking hotel? So, they were just trying to get over and charge a fee that did not apply. She said and I quote "If you smoked in your car how do we know you did not smoke in the room". They were very rude and disrespectful on the phone. This was the worst experience that I have every had with any establishment. I will never patronize another Hyatt, thanks to this one. read more

I stay there with my family. When I check out I was charge with $12 room service charge for ordering cheesecakes at 3:30AM which no one in my family order. I spoke with the manager Tasha (VERY RUDE) who told me she talk to the lady that made the dessert order that i order the food. Tasha basically says I'm lying and her employee is right. She didn't want to take the charge off, but eventually she took it off after I complain to her supervisor. She is a very unprofessional manager, how do incompetent people with no customer service skills be put in managerial positions. Be careful with your credit card if you stay there, they will charge you for things you didn't authorize. read more

This one's next to a restaurant where my child can throw peanuts on the floor & at me, a short walk to a fast food chain with an epic looking outdoor playground. This place was paradise compared to the Holiday Inn Columbus North I-185!!! We were completely ecstatic after coming from our stay there. Everything from the parking lot, lobby to the room was nice and clean. CLEAN!!! The receptionist was super sweet and thorough with our stay and the hotel amenities. Our room had double queen size beds with a small living area with a couch and mini kitchen counter (sink, fridge, counter, tea/coffee maker). The couch was a pull out which can sleep another person. The air smelled nice and clean. Beds were clean with crisp sheets. Bathroom was clean. We slept comfortably. My family and I came for our cousin's graduation at Fort Benning. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone staying in Columbus, GA! read more

Only leaving one star because it requires it. Very disappointed in the staff. We stayed here twice within the last month. At the beginning of April we were appalled by the way the kitchen staff spoke to the guests while eating breakfast. Also, our toilet was having issues flushing and running constantly, so our last night there we called the front desk for assistance and Alicia from the front desk came to the room completely unaware of how to repair the problem, just looking at the toilet in disgust and commenting that the people responsible were not answering the phone to repair it. I asked her to let me by, so that I could repair it and show her how to repair it for future reference. After I repaired the problem, she told myself, my wife, and children that if we had any other issues to let her know. This last weekend we returned, because we had already made our reservations back in March. Alicia was working the front desk again and we joked about the toilet issue and my wife and I listened to her and her room mate talk about their personal issues, such as her room mate giving her cash for rent instead of going and getting a money order and using her shampoo and conditioner and other personal issues that should not be discussed while guests are around and we were waiting for her to charge us for the soup we ordered. She gave another customer a water and didn't charge him for it. She seemed to be under the influence, she was having issues getting the coffee maker to make the drink she was making. We finally paid for our soup and did not interact with her again. Yesterday after we got home, we realized that our daughter left her wallet at the hotel. I called the hotel and Alicia answered the phone and told me that we would have to call back during housekeepings hours. We got off the phone and I wondered why I hadn't been called, when the wallet was found, so I called back and spoke with supervisor and was told that during the toilet incident at our previous visit, I had supposedly pushed Alicia out of the way. When I tried to explain my experience during that event, the supervisor over talked me and did not allow me to talk. Today I called back during housekeeping hours and was informed the the wallet was not found and the authorities had been called yesterday about the supposed pushing incident. I can only conclude that someone found the wallet and is using this as a defense, so that I won't pursue further action in finding my daughters wallet. I will be calling the authorizes myself to clear up this matter and will continue to inform others of this hotels actions with every resource I have available to me. No one should ever have to go through this. This has been an upsetting ending to what should have been a great memory for our family. read more

Excellent hotel for business travel. King room had very nice desk and work area. The staff is very friendly and helpful to assist with local attractions and restuarants. I would have given this a 5 star however I was very disappointed in the free breakfast compared to other hotels which I stay at. They have a very limited free breakfast however you can pay an order a full hot breakfast. read more
