The room was dingy and had not been wiped down. The pool was ICE cold and unusable. Breakfast was very cheap and bland. A water sprinkler outside was malfunctioning and sending massive amounts of water out and down the street: Staff were nice and we slept fine. Decent hotel close to the Texas Tech University main campus. The room was spacious but could have been cleaner (especially the toilet). The bed was very low and mattress was extremely soft and creaky so not too comfortable. I spent an evening at this Hyatt Place to celebrate Texas Tech's Carol of Lights. This facility is at an excellent location, close to campus and the college town businesses surrounding it. The hotel grounds are clean and well-maintained, with parking controlled by permits, which costs $7.00/day. The check-in process was quick and attended by courteous and professional staff. My room, a single-king, is overall in good condition, is clean and well-lighted. Additionally, the HVAC is quiet and efficient. There is a large sitting area in the room, with a small closet, writing desk, mini-fridge, and coffee setup. The TV reception and WiFi are excellent. More importantly, the walls are very thick and I was able to get a quiet night of sleep. While the room is very nice and comfortable during my stay, the water pressure is left to be desired. It took several minutes for the toilet tank to refill between flushes, and the shower pressure was very weak, with little variation between hot and cold water extremes. The toiletries--shampoo, conditioner, and body wash--were in non-individualized containers, of which the shower gel needed to be refilled. The ice machine on my floor was out of order so I had to go to up upper level to get ice. There is a decent hot breakfast served in the morning, as well as a strong coffee. Checking out was a breeze. Despite the water pressure issues I had during my stay, I would give this Hyatt Place another chance when the opportunity arises. read more

Very basic , the hotel is nothing fancy. A whole dining room was shut down , washing machine broken (only 1 machine on the 5th floor for the entire place) machines broken in the gym. Green looking pool water. Saw Corporate there , not looking too happy during my 3 week stay . Breakfast is free but not good. Outdoor patio fireplace is broken , has not been working for months they said. Had no issues parking , housekeeping was good , no crime issues when I was there. There's a small coffee maker and a small fridge in the room. No microwave, the hotel has one in a common room to access if you need to heat anything up. Manager was very nice. There's food places walking distance and the freeway is a few blocks away. The college is a short walking distance. I would not recommend this place unless you're going to stay one night and you're on your way. read more

Had a great experience here. Hotel property is close to loads of restaurants, coffee shops, the university - super convenient. Staff were very friendly, lobby was nice including working spaces and printers etc. The rooms themselves were slightly dated but honestly in really good shape, super clean, and spacious as well. Equipped with a coffee machine, fridge, tv, etc. Breakfast is provided in the morning with lots of variety in terms of food options hot and cold, as well as milk options for coffee cereal and oatmeal. We pre booked our room, when we arrived we entered and it was dirty and not cleaned from the day before at 4 p.m. We went to tell the front desk and they put us in a different room. When we entered that room there was still someone's mess in the toilet. The pool was mainly green colored and there were no clean pool towels for guests. We were told that breakfast ends at 9:30 a.m. We showed up at 9:14 and it was over. Although hotel staff walked around eating breakfast? They asked us yo stop by to front to check out because their system was down and they needed to ensure we paid for the night? Then I left two hair clips in the room, called twice spoke with management they said they would call back but never did. These hair clips were my grandmothers. Still waiting. Attention people staying in Lubbock. I was taking my son for a tour of the school, July 29th, we stayed at the Hyatt Place Lubbock. They said it would be $139.91 total, they charged me $167.15. Technically Hyatt Place deserves many more stars for staying true to the idea that the traveller deserves a good night's rest. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. The whole property is clean and smells fresh and natural. Unfortunately, it seems deep cleaning and some design face lifts have taken a back seat. This is a popularly located Hyatt and offers good value though. Parking is sufficient (they charge a modest fee now), while fast casual restaurants are within short driving or even walking distance. read more

Hotel is new, in good condition, and consistent with the brand. However, in each elevator lobby in each floor there is an extremely loud AC unit which reverberates down the hall. I stayed four doors down from the elevator shaft and the noise kept me from sleeping. read more

I always try to end things on a positive note, so I will start off with the "needs improvement". First off, they charge you $7 per day for parking and NO WHERE on the reservation does it tell you this. I wasn't necessarily put off by the fee until the last night of my stay (Wednesday, July 4th), when I returned to find virturally no parking in the front, as it was mostly taken by patrons of the bar next door. Mind you, one of the hotel clerks stated the reason they charge the hotel guests, is so they could legally tow the cars of the bar patrons for illegally parking at the hotel. However, when I told the clerk that there were numerous cars in the lot that did not have guest passes, not one car got towed! So, somethings not adding up here. They serve breakfast until 9 a.m., but when I went down at 8:30 the only thing left was some wheat-looking Cheerio's. Nothing was refilled, its like they set it out and when its gone its gone. If you say breakfast is served to a certain time, then keep things replenished. There was NO maid service during my 3 day stay, and only 1 wash cloth and 2 hand towels were in the room. I did request additional towels and they were provided quickly. The pool was ice cold and didn't look that clean, I honestly couldn't tell if it was truly dirty or just the finish of the pool. The Wifi was OUT 7the ENTIRE time and no notice was given. I was only told about it when I called the front desk to ask if there was a password. Some of the lamps needed bulbs, but they were replaced quick enough. Now on to the good. The rooms are a nice size, with good air conditioning (that does not sound like a freight train) and was clean and a reasonable price. The lobby area is also a nice size. The staff, for the most part, is nice...some a bit more welcoming than others, but no one was rude or unprofessional. The hotel is clean and centrallyl located, and close (15 minutes or less) to virtually everything and is within walking distance to Starbucks and Texas Tech and Jones Stadium. I gave 3 stars because it does allow you to give half a star. Its honestly not a bad hotel, but they need to keep the breakfast area stocked and go back to not charging for parking and get the wifi fixed. I also strongly recommend they put a warning sign at the pool, letting folks know its not heated, because it liable to stop someone's heart when they go in there thinking it heated, and they jump into whats feels like the iceberg that sunk the Titantic! read more

Came for a business meeting at the Texas Tech Club and this seemed to be the closest place. In fact, it was very close! The receptionist was very good, engaged and quick. The bartender, who doubled as the receptionist at the time was also good so the staff seemed good to me. The room was good but the pillows didn't work for me. I think it was my own fault as there were a zillion pillows to choose from. The room was roomy and had all sorts of space. Almost over kill for the over night stay that I had. Very highly DO NOT recommend. This has to be the worst hotel experience I've ever had. The room was filthy- stains on carpet and furniture, mold and hair in the shower, thick dust built up on air vents. Not to mention, I went down to eat at the hotel bar and was told they were out of all condiments (lettuce, tomato etc) and also all internet and TV was not working until about 10 pm. I will never make the mistake of staying here again and honestly think I'll switch hotel rewards if this standard is okay with Hyatt. read more

Don't pay the ridiculous $7 per day parking fee. The bar next door, Logie's, is a hot spot for students and they park in the Hyatt's parking lot. Spoke with the nighttime manager on duty and explained that I had to park 2 blocks away. He stated that he had to call the manager and ask if he could call the towing company. The towing company is South Plains Towing. I called South Plains and they stated that the hotel management never calls to enforce the Hyatt's parking and unless they call, there is nothing they can do. With 150+ rooms at $7 per vehicle, Hyatt takes in $1050 per day per guest but they do nothing to enforce their parking policy. The Overton across the street had a security guy turning Logie's customers away from parking in their parking lot. I think the Hyatt can afford parking security on weekends if they are pulling in $2,000 each weekend. Side note to Hyatt...if you are going to charge $5 for a bottled water you leave in the room, please get Evian instead of some cheap bottle. read more

Clean and well maintained Hyatt Place. Many of the other Hyatt Places I have recently stayed at are not clean. The Lubbock Hyatt Place is near the College and has plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance. Small gym and indoor pool were a nice diversion. Breakfast buffet is okay. The eggs are tasteless so don't bother. There is oatmeal, fresh fruit, cereals, pancakes, breads, sausage and breakfast potatoes. Coffee is very mild and good if you are a Folgers type of coffee drinker. read more

We come here once a year for USA Boxing Tournament and wouldn't stay anywhere else, even if I had an issue with the room front desk and staff were quick to respond. I've stayed at quite a number of Hyatt Place hotels and this one was far superior to the other ones I stayed at. It's a pity I was only passing thru Lubbock and stayed for only a single night. From the moment I walked in until I checked out the next morning all of the staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. I had requested a "quiet room" when I made my reservation on line and was given a room at the end of the corridor that was sparkly clean and well appointed. I never heard any other noise during my rest in that room. Wished all Hyatt Places were that quiet and friendly. I didn't take advantage of breakfast or the gym or other amenities, but what I did see was very nice. Sadly, we have spent three nights here, and the cleaning is really poor. Our coffee cups have not been cleaned except by us, same with the coffee maker, the trash hasn't been emptied and we have no tissues. Not to mention the original rings from past beverages are still on the bedside table. Other than make the bed, I am not sure what they are doing. read more

This place is definitely up to the excellent standard set by Hyatt Place. We had the room with 2 queen beds and one sofa bed and it was exactly what we needed. Hotel is bright and seems new. Staff offers outstanding customer service, very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, included a hot breakfast of sausage links and scrambled eggs (the powdered kind), also french toast sticks. There was cereal and apple and orange juices, from concentrate. There were apples wrapped in plastic wrap, but no cut fruit like in the past. We really liked the cleanliness and feel of the hotel. There is also an indoor pool that was appeared well managed, although we did not have time to use it. There is also a dog walking area out back, with grass, bags, and trash receptacle. Both the woman who checked us in and the woman who checked us out were outstanding in their customer service and deserve raises! We will stay here again if ever in the area. read more

First impressions go a long way. This hotel definitely did not give me a great first impression. I stayed here while moving my son into his dorm at Texas Tech. When we walked in, there were employees checking people in. Both were friendly and gave a bunch of info that seemed necessary to the guests checking in. When I got to the desk, I literally got maybe 10 words out of the guy. He did not mention any of the pertinent info given to the other guests checking in, and he almost seemed surprised my credit card went through. It just wasn't a friendly check in process. The room was the good part of the stay. It was clean and I actually slept really good which I usually do not in any place other than my own bed. Overall, I had a much better overall experience at the Overton across the street. Sometimes you come across a bad apple. It happens. I am not going to completely write them off just yet, but I will explore other options first for sure next time! read more

Neat looking modern hotel. We stopped in on way to the Grand Canyon. The place is super clean with an adobe and stone finish. The lobby has a food and coffee bar with an attentive receptionist. The room was super clean with a fold out sofa-bed. Beds were comfortable with nice linen. The shortcoming of the hotel were the thin walls. Conversations could be had between the restroom and living area. We could hear the neighbors but only at a low volume. Not terrible but louder than expected of a hotel with excellent fit and finish in every other aspect. read more

I paid $140/night for the room I stayed in. The room smelled like a teenage boy locker room. Then there were no soaps or toothbrushes. Then when I went downstairs to ask for it, the lady acted as if I was asking the world of her and she was doing me a huge favor. Then I asked why she never gave me a toothbrush or tooth paste. She then proceeded to CHARGE NE FOR EACH TOOTHBRUSH. When I was checking out the lady at the front desk told me I'll receive a call, and those charges will be reversed since they supposedly don't charge for toothbrushes. BS! I never received a call and I was still charged. Could've spent $15 extra bucks and had a good stay at the Overton across the street. Beautiful room! Mini fridge but no microwave, and got a noise complaint just walking into the room. One thing I might have missed while reserving was the $7 fee to park. No bags in any garbage cans, sorry housekeepers :( and either the curtain doesn't work, or I'm inept at pushing buttons (it's a good possibility) had issues with the bathtub as well. The bathroom doors don't lock or close properly. Not a big deal for me. They have huge shampoo, conditioner and body soap bottles in the shower. The pump type bottles one has at home. This is totally unhygienic. I don't want to touch something a few other people have touched while naked and wet. That was really yucky. How do you know there is still soap in those bottles... what if someone added something. Yeah, so we didn't feel safe taking a shower with their soaps. They sort of nickel and dime you for everything.... for examples you have to pay $7.00 to park in their parking lot. Why not just include that in my stay. They leave two Hyatt water bottles for you with $5.00 price tag on them... why not just include that in my hotel stay and call it complimentary. read more

My rating is not for the place but for the front desk employee called TRINITY. I have stayed here a couple of times and the place and location are great and the pricing is affordable. TRINITY , the front desk employee did not exemplify professionalism and respect during my stay. I kindly requested for help and she dismissed me, I was in a state of disbelief. I thought I should put this out there so that future customers can be aware of her and her supervisor/employer can be aware as well so that she can get the professional help needed to make her more successful at her job.. I would kindly suggest retraining , she is the face of the place and the first interaction many have with place because she is at the front desk. She represents Hyatt Place. When my family comes in town they always​ stay at this hotel.​ For Lubbock,​ it is definitely​ five stars because it is super clean, modern looking, friendly service and you can walk to the football stadium​ from here. I think that it is pretty cool that they have a mini put-put golf course here. Downside: they put in a Starbucks​ in the hotel so they don't​ have their​ hotel​ breakfast​ anymore. But Their breakfast​ wasn't even good so its fine, but now you have to get Starbuck's grab and go breakfast​. Also, there is a neighborhood​​ that is trashy next to this hotel. So make sure you don't leave your laptop in your car just in case​ someone might break in. But the management​ does a great job checking on the cars. read more

We had a wonderful experience while staying at The Hyatt Place in Lubbock. My other half and I were there for a 5 night stay, and during the entire stay we didn't have one single issue. The room was VERY clean, the bed was comfy, and it was nice to have a fridge in the room. Also, what I really loved, was seeing the pets being able to stay at the hotel as well. LOVED THAT! My only complaint is that I wish the pool was heated, that water was very cold. Other than that, everything was perfect. The best place I've stayed yet. We will be going to Hyatt hotels from now on. read more

I've stayed in a lot of sweets and hotels so there are certain things I expect from a hotel that looks nice and a room that's listed as a sweet. The room we stayed in was listed as a sweet but it's just a double queen room that's just a tad bit bigger. Pros: the room is nice, bed is comfortable, various pillows that are either soft or firm. Nice heating and air conditioning unit. Small fridge. Tv was good quality. Cordless phone. The hotel does have indoor pool, which an employee has to open to allow a low number of guests due to covid. Gym area looked nice for a hotel gym and they did have dumbbells. CONS: $155 per night for a "sweet" but this was just a little bigger than a regular double queen room. No kitchenette, no microwave. Small sectional couch. The water pressure from the shower was very low, almost non-existent. Bathroom had the frosted glass door but wouldn't shut all the way; the handle on the inside of bathroom door was broken I guess because I couldn't turn it to get the lock to engage. No vending machines. When we arrived we asked to be switched to a room that was closer to my daughter's room, which was at the opposite end of the floor. (We hadn't even been inside our room yet so The covid thing is out of question) The clerk said they were fully booked and couldn't do it. Later that evening we walked to my daughter's room and saw a room that had just been cleaned, near hers with no one in it. How hard would it have been to just switch it? Bought two soft drinks and a candy bar from the front and it was $8. A little too expensive imo. Would I suggest staying here? If the price is dropped a little and the water pressure was fixed, go for it. It was an okay stay except for the fact that it was listed as a sweet but wasn't. (For reference, a sweet in San Antonio for a king bedroom, a living area and a kitchen is $159) read more

Nice hotel, great location, great food choices near by. The hotel staff was very friendly. The hotel and room was very clean and it felt safe. We had a few issues in the room. Took a shower upon arrival and got stuck in bathroom. Thank goodness not alone because other person had to spend several minutes messing with the glass pocket door to open it. If it was a person traveling alone they would have had quite a time getting out. Due to how the door is mounted, you cannot grip the door to move it from inside the bathroom. If you were elderly forget about it. Not safe. We called for maintenance and were assured they would fix it first thing in the morning. At 9am went to the desk and was assured again they would be up to fix it. Desk clerk said he and his manager would go up to check it...Really? Would someone lie about it???? Anyway, desk clerk comes back and says "You just need to lift it up from the outside". Right, that's the answer . You can't do that by yourself.. By 11am they finally admitted there was no maintenance person working the weekend and it wouldn't be handled until Monday. We finally asked for another room and they complied. Ridiculous they couldn't just say that in the first place. The other issue was a weatherstripping came off the window as you closed the blinds. Small but obviously maintenance staff needs a tune up. Otherwise very good hotel. I've been a Hyatt member for a long time. Just not impressed with how the situation was handled. read more

We checked in last night after a long drive, and were mediocrely welcomed by a pretty casual, unprofessional staff. I felt like I was being checked into summer camp. I don't know if it was because it was late or we are young seemingly college students, but there was definitely not the same respect as I could imagine other business professionals passing through would get. That being said, the hotel is one of the newer Hyatt Places, and the facilities are beautiful and very clean. Only one elevator is in service and it takes a lifetime to get up or down. The breakfast is a nice spread but the hot food isn't really... well, hot. A little disappointed. I've stayed in MANY Hyatt places, and this is down there at the bottom of the list. read more
