As a Globalist who stays 60+ nights a year with Hyatt, I appreciate the warm welcoming environment of Hyatt Places, but can't say this location embodies the same ethos. I checked in late last night and wanted to put the room on my Hyatt Visa on file so I can get the extra points, but didn't have the card with me. This wasn't an issue at 3x different Hyatt's I had stayed at the prior 3x nights, but the night manager Justin seemed to have a big problem with this. He cited something about fraud, which given the hotel has my license and multiple credit cards on file and I'm a Globalist, doesn't seem like a possible concern. However, he was rude and condescending. I can guarantee I'll never stay at this location again and Justin was certainly the reason. read more

Food is absolutely amazing. Bar service is not. Vibe is great. Music is great. The bar was understaffed, so getting an order in was tough. Best part was we probably spent $125, but because the bar was so understaffed, the bill was half that. We had probably 7-8 beers, a Chilton, 2 glasses of wine, appetizer and 2 entrees and the bill was $66. The bar missed about 6-8 drinks. Great, absolutely great food. Geez, it was so good. read more

Great hotel and staff. My husband and I had to stay for three weeks while construction was happening on our house and the staff were very nice and helpful. Perhaps, because of our long stay, we did have a few issues with getting regular maid service, but when we brought it to the attention of the front desk, the issues were each taken care of by the head of housekeeping and done so immediately. So, really, that's all you can ask for! Problems will happen but this staff/crew handled everything like pros. We also got to eat a LOT of hot breakfast here due to the long stay and it's delicious. That's one thing we love about Hyatt Place hotels. It really makes a difference to have variety and hot breakfast options when you're out of town (or displaced, like us). Thanks again to a great staff and we will always recommend this hotel for anyone coming to Lubbock. read more

I completely do not understand the charge for the parking. I would rather stay across the street at the Overton hotel then to pay parking next time that is ridiculous. Breakfast was cold, no liners in trash cans. The showerhead was not the best either. read more

Honestly I can't say that it was the worst hotel stay ever but it definitely was not worth the money we paid to stay here. First thing the checking was easy and the staff was friendly. However, the hotel requires a parking pass to be in your car and they won't ask if you need one or assume you need one so do yourself a favor and ask for one or you'll go out to your car with a "notice" that they will tow your car. The room was either ridiculously hot or cold no in between and the beds are so uncomfortable. The breakfast was great nice and easy with healthy choices so that was a perk. After breakfast we left for the day, when we came back there was a note on our bed (because the note on my car in the morning just wasnt enough) something to the effect of "we didn't make your bed because there was a personal item on it" aka God forbid you leave your iPad on the bed before you walk out... That is really just insane to me. I guess you could call I picky or whatever but this hotel is t cheap by any means and as someone who stays at a lot of hotels I would choose another over this one in the future. read more

Great hotel and staff at this location! Natasha is my favorite with her Jamaican flair and sweetness. Very modern decor all around; have stayed in king room twice now and it is very roomy for 2 or 3 people. Bathrooms are nice size too and everything was clean and tidy. Our housekeeper even left a sweet note. Breakfast area off of lobby with a lot of seating options. Love the small bar area and wine they offer too. Great hotel! read more

Stayed here last night in a king suite and it was great!!beautiful room and facilities. Best complimentary breakfast bar I have ever seen! The only bad point was there was little or no hot water in the shower. The toilet seat was loose and moved back and forth a lot and several bulbs were out in the room. I am usually a big fan of Hyatt Place hotels. I have stayed in many Hyatt Place hotels. I have grown to enjoy their product and their breakfasts. Before dropping my daughter off at tech, I was searching for hotels and the Hyatt Place and the Overton were where I wanted to stay with the family. The overtime was about 4 dollars a night cheaper and is a nicer hotel, but no included breakfast. I chose Hyatt Place mainly because of their breakfast. I go down the next morning to study, no breakfast. I was told because of COVID they were not doing breakfast. Really? There are two hundred restaurants in Lubbock serving their customers breakfast. What's your excuse again? Their answer was a bag with a small can of orange juice, a muffin and a banana. A voucher to a nearby restaurant would have been an acceptable alternative. There was not mention during the reservation process that a major portion of the Hyatt Place service would not be available. Room was clean and the maid was superb. I've come to become a big fan of Hyatt because of this location. It's modern in every sense, from the backlit mirror in the bathroom, to the design and decor of the room. The breakfast is great and changes every day so you don't get bored with it. And very comfortable beds that give a great nights sleep. In this price range it's second to none. read more

Showed up and the room was dirty. There was toenail clippings in the window. Yuck! I had to tell the front desk twice before it was addressed. The housekeeping only made the bed some days. Instead of putting towels on racks in the bathroom, we came back to find a stack of towels in the bathroom. It seemed like they were cutting corners and being lazy. We also had pricing issues and the manager was not willing to help. The customer service left plenty to be desired. I'm a frequent at Hyatt Place, but probably won't be back. read more

We stay here when we travel to Lubbock. I was disappointed with how unprofessional the front desk staff were on our most recent stay. One evening the front desk staff where sitting in the front table area of the front lobby watching "Ready or Not" and "The Curse of La Llorona" --both rated R movies and inappropriate if families were walking through the lobby. They turned the lobby lights down, one staff member was wrapped up in a hotel blanket and basically had their own movie night while on the clock. read more

The cleaning crew was very disappointing for multiple rooms in the group that we had (toe nail clippings left out from the people who had the room before). We had to ask multiple times for them to be removed. They also charged us a significantly higher rate than everyone else in our group and were of zero help when we explained we were with a school district and needed a certain rate. I was in Lubbock visiting somebody at the hospital and ended up needing a place to stay. The hotel room was modern and clean. There are USB chargers for your phones. Blackout curtains and a comfy bed/pillows meant a good night's sleep. I had a hard time finding a place to deliver food (I got in pretty late) so I ordered from the hotel kitchen. That's the only reason I knocked them down to 4 stars: the food. It's not a full service kitchen but they can heat stuff up. I ordered a pizza and they told me they'd call me and let me know when it was ready so I could pick it up. They never called. I went down an hour later and they had written the room number down wrong. The food was ready and cold. She heated it up but it was mediocre at best, even when warm. In short, stay for the hotel but bring your own food. read more

First time here and I would highly recommend this hotel. New clean and well serviced. The beds are comfortable and lots of outlets and USB charge slots. Breakfast was complementary and very good. Bacon and eggs - buffet style. Fresh fruit and oatmeal. Cereal for the kids. Enjoyable stay. read more

Rooms were ok but the pool was dirty when we went in to swim so we decided against it. Then we were treated rudely by the girl helping us check in. My husband forgot his state ID, which was our fault but the way she talked to us and her lack of friendliness was unnecessary. When I went to the room I hadn't been in the room for 10 minutes and a girl from the cleaning team just walked into our room without knocking. She left and apologized but it defiantly could have been a major issue if I had no bee dressed. It just left me uneasy. Check out was a new person and equally unfriendly demeanor. The staff at this hotel absolutely does not respect the Do Not Disturb sign. They knocked on my door multiple times while I was sleeping, and they later attempted to enter my room while I was undressed. read more

This is a relatively new property. The common areas and rooms are very nice. Front desk staff are friendly and efficient. Complimentary breakfast is better than the usual. Maid service failed to take care of our room after three requests. Hot water in shower takes a LONG time, if at all. Bottom line: decent, but nothing special. read more

We are Platinum members with Hyatt which means we stay in a lot of their properties. We always look for the Hyatt Brand when we are planning a trip. WE recently flew to Lubbock and stayed in a Hyatt Place. The hotel is only a year old so everything looks and smells good. Housekeeping did a super job and the the breakfast was good but it starts later in the day than we like plus no matter how many people are waiting they do not put the food out until 7. I would think if the food is ready, which it was, they could open the doors and put the food out. The food person was out at the front desk with 4 other staffers just visiting. They did not even acknowledge us as we passed by the front counter. They do not put your bill under the door so you can just leave you must go to the front desk to check out. Very inconvenient but I guess they were just too lazy to put the bill under the room door. We had terrible experience with our reservations. We always make our reservations at the hotel, not on the budget sites, so we can change for cancel reservations. So, we had reservations2 weeks before arrival but we received a call from the hotel saying there was a mix up in the reservations and they were going to have to move us to another property which was not a Hyatt. Well the conversation went down from there. My husband made it clear that we were Platinum and they could move a non-Platinum guest to the other hotel but not us. Lots of conversation after that when my husband asks for the manager, who was not there, then asking for the Regional manager's name and number. The call was made on a Sunday so they said we could call back to speak to the manager after 8:30 Monday. We were furious with the 2 people we spoke to and how they just blew us off as nobody and no one important to the Hyatt Co. Lots of conversations on Monday which turned out they would keep our reservation at the Hyatt. They even said they would give us double the points. We check our points today and found they did not give us double so once again they are blowing us off. We will not stay there again for sure. read more

I usually DO NOT take the time to write a review about anything but the housekeeping is horrible. When I checked into the hotel room, the soap from the previous guest was still in the shower. Secondly, the "go green" card in the bathroom stated, "if you would like your sheets to be refreshed, leave this card on the bed." Well, I left the card on the bed and housekeeping did not change the sheets. I left a tiny mark on the sheets to see if they would change them...They DID NOT! Lastly, they did not clean the sink. Water stains and other residue was still left in and around the sink. Nor did they vacuum the carpet and it was visible inside and in front my hotel room door. All they did was changed out the towels and made up the bed...I sure hope the towels were changed. Not sure if I would recommend this hotel. read more

A very new hotel, it's right in the middle of the new apartment/condo developments near Texas Tech. Nice, modern entry, maybe a bit sparse, though. (We have stayed at a Hyatt Place in ABQ and it was similarly arranged.) Check-in was coldly efficient. We were issued a parking pass... another poster has complained about that, but the proximity to Tech and the neighborhood surrounding the hotel are conducive to illegal parking during football games, and the parking is somewhat limited at the hotel. The elevator... wow, what a noise it makes. Not from the elevator itself, but the speaker. Many elevators, if they have one at all, chime or beep at each floor. This one produces noisy metallic clangs, like an empty coffee can being slammed against a cast iron frying pan. Very odd, and amusing the first time, annoying all subsequent times. The rooms are OK, very good darkening blinds. Bedding is excellent. The bathroom is sizable but not separated like many other hotels' bathrooms, and the door... again, wow. A frosted glass slider, it got stuck on us, locking one of us inside until we jimmied it open. The complimentary breakfast is excellent and filling and not just Danish and cereal, it has real food. Checking out, the clerk admitted that some of the bathroom doors have been sticking since the place recently opened. While most of the staff were pleasant and represented the Hyatt name well, the check-out (like the check-in) was efficient but cold, even sheepish. Go back? Probably, the location is excellent as was the price (that weekend Tech was out of town). read more

Hotel is modern and very clean. This is probably the nicest Hyatt Place we have ever stayed at and we have stayed at plenty. Rooms are spacious and beds were comfortable. The bathroom is farther away from the beds so it's great if you need to get up earlier than others without disturbing them. The staff even left a few little treats the kids enjoyed. Also a nice plus was the very well lit parking lot. read more

Horrible experience. Downloaded yelp just to save people the pain of staying here. The receptionist is rude. I felt like I was walking into a walmart. The building itself is nice enough, but staff is inattentive and unhelpful and amenities are pathetic. The room phone, hair dryer, and iron were not working at all. I had to walk to the desk each time there was a problem, and clearly there were many. My room was directly next to the lobby, in which I could hear the lobby music going on through the walls 24/7, let alone staff and guests parading through the halls at all hours of the night, slamming doors and yelling inconsiderately. My suggestion to guests at busy hotels like this is not to pay ridiculous amounts for a hotel like this and end up on the first floor next to the lobby. My hotel room might as well have been part of the front office, we could hear the phones going off all night and day. I am horrified at the way these problems were dealt with. I will not be staying here again. Hyatt should look into better management of this hotel. Worst hotel experience of my life. read more

I've spent a lot of time in Lubbock on business recently, and I actually look forward to staying at this hotel. Besides the basics--it's new and very clean and has a good breakfast and exercise facilities, and the staff is courteous--the rooms are particularly welcoming and comfortable. There is an L-shaped couch in the sitting area of the room, and when the bedside light is on, it shines through the partition between the bed and the couch, which is frosted glass with a tree branch design. Maybe it's a goofy little detail, but it's peaceful and so much more aesthetically pleasing that the usual hotel room. There are plugs for chargers in all the right places. The housekeeping staff do an excellent job and are really nice; they recognize me and say hello when we pass in the hallway. When I made tea one night, they left extra tea bags the next morning. Small kindnesses like that make you feel welcome--not to mention the Reese's peanut butter cup cookies they sell at the front desk, which are to die for. Skip the lunch/dinner food; there are plenty of good places within walking distance (esp Torchy's Tacos). read more
