The main reason to go here is for the gorgeous sunset on the water. It was truly breathtaking. However, the food left much to be desired. I had the smoked ribs and chicken. The ribs and chicken were both dry. The piece of chicken was so thin and was drowning in sauce to cover it up how dry it was The fries were crispy and good. My kids had the chicken tenders. One with fresh watermelon and one with fries. They both said it was good but nothing special. In all, Even with the food being very mediocre the service was good but we will not return.

I brought my family here for lunch boy I got a chef board special sandwich it was a huge piece of chicken breast teriyaki style with a pineapple on top. Very good! Excellent service. Beach front setting couldn't get any better than this! Try the vision menu it works great too!

We really liked Leilani's. The view was nice but not really a direct view of the beach. The alcoholic beverages were very well done. They have some fun flavors and the house tequila was good. Food came out quickly and they even split our food into two portions for the two of us that were sharing without having to be asked. Overall good atmosphere and friendly service with decent prices for the area. Good for a simple easy lunch with exotic options.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The best meal spot we had so far along this strip. Better poke, ribs were tender and crispy, really good flavor. Love all the veg that came with the hummus. It was tasty. Possibly will come back if we do not feel like eating at other places.

We had planned to go to Monkeypod for dinner but it was all backed up. Leilani's got us right I for 4 right in front of the live music and an ideal sunset view. This was down below in the beach bar but no course sand around us Great attentive service and pretty fast turn around. Good music with a man and lady doing island music and other covers. The lychee martinis and lava flows about as good as they get. I would have loved a lychee garnish Two ordered cheeseburger and fries. Cooked perfect to order preferences. I ordered the bento combo and daughter got the fish tacos. The fish tacos were good and she enjoyed them. Chips pretty tasty but a basic jarred salsa My bento was fantastic overall. Fish stick and slaw above average at least. Now kalbi ribs and rice, tasty pickled veg but would have loved some kimchee! The hot wings were fantastic but really hard to eat spicy messy wings like this in public so I saved two for a snack later. Seems simple but not everyone makes good Mac salad and especially the nicer restaurants. But this was as good as I get at plate lunch places! We've gone by so many times over the years and glad we tried it this time!

Best fish taco's and service is great!!! It's a go-to anytime we're in Maui. Ocean view and located in a busy mall area. Validate parking for you and the Virgin Lava Flow was delicious! On the pricer side but reasonable for the quality of food. Hula pie is delicious as well. Split with my husband at the end of our meal. Think we could've gone for another one!

Old late post, but my wife and I had a wonderful time here when we visited Maui. We can't wait to be back!

We walked down the Kaanapali beach walkway from our resort to the Whalers Village to try Leilani's. We did make a reservation earlier and did arrive on time, my only gripe is that management needs to train the hosts/hostesses a little better. My experience in the food/hospitality industry is that the reservation parties are always seated before a "walk in" and that didn't happen with us. Nevertheless let's talk about Leilani's, it's a bi level set up with patio dining at ground level with beach level views, live entertainment and a different dining menu. We were seated on the 2nd level with ocean view and open breezy al fresco ambience. Our server was Hannah, pleasant and ready to offer a truly fabulous dining experience. Hannah did check on us multiple times through dinner, thank you Hannah for that. We started with the chilled beets and whipped burrata, a creatively crafted use of Burrata cheese that really made this chilled beet salad delicious. The Parmesan crusted Mahi Mahi in a flavorful lemon caper sauce was so good, fish was very fresh and flaky. Coconut shrimp was cooked perfectly, packed with coconut and cooked to perfection. Not dry at all, the sauce that comes with it didn't really pair with the coconut shrimp only because my wife is not a big Curry fan. Hannah effortlessly switched sauce to a horseradish Yuzu sauce that paired nicely and definitely a better flavor combo. Kimos Hula Pie was "Ono" simply delizioso and a huge piece enough for two and we still couldn't finish it. Great evening, stupendous dining experience and I would return to explore the menu a little more. When on the Kaanapali coast do stop in and try breakfast, lunch or dinner, you won't be disappointed. Well done Leilani's! Tutti delizioso e Mangiamo

This restaurant was one of the best places I ate at during my vacation. All of the food was delicious, generous portions, and came in a timely manner. My favorite thing that I ate above all else was their famous hula pie! It was so delicious.. we all shared one and we're tempted to get a second even though the portion was humongous. If you come to leilani's, you definitely need to leave room to order one of these. Also the location is attached to the whaler shopping center which is a prime spot.. recommend making a reservation especially for the restaurant part but the beach bar area isn't easy first come first serve location during the day Our servers were kind, knowledgeable and friendly. If you're in Maui you definitely need to stop by this place it's good for large groups or date night

Dropped in on a rainy Friday night and were seated immediately with a table for 3. Hibiscus Paloma 4/5, strong tequila flavor Lava Flow 5/5, sweet and refreshing Fresh fish tacos 6/5 some of the best fish tacos I've ever had, perfect texture and flavor and freshness and quantity of food. Hula Pie 5/5 I'm not a sweets person but this hit the spot Favorite meal of my trip

This little beach bar was so convenient. It is right next to the beach in whalers village. We came in from the beach and checked out their happy hour. The patio was packed. The happy hour food was tasty. We ordered the coconut chicken skewers the sauce was delicious. The shrimp were crispy . The vegetable dip with flatbread was a bit flavorless and the lettuce wraps were tasty. The food was extremely small portions. I would recommend skip the happy hour and get real entrees - we all ended up hungry an hour later needing snacks. The drinks were watered down - mine was the Kimos Grog its was not very good at all. The muy bueno was better but pretty sour. Service was great the live band was wonderful. The overall ambiance was great just stick to beer and wine instead of cocktails and know the happy hour portions are very small.

Live music that was real! Fresh mahi mahi tacos because it was Tuesday! Local salad with fresh ingredients! Service was friendly! I'm giving it four stars because we shared the Baja fish tacos and they split it, which was awesome. However, my piece tasted horribly wrong and his tasted delicious. We swapped and agreed one was bad. Yikes.

Went shopping around whalers village and found this place next to the ocean front. This place did not dissapoint. We were greeted and self seated by the bar area. Our waitress attended to us immediately and asked what we would like to drink. Ordered a Beer, cocktail and bloody mary. Received all within 5 minutes. Ordered a platter of Ceviche to munch on. Overall, this place is excellent. Felt the Hawaiian island ambiance at beach front. Did not dissapoint. Great food and good service. Thumbs up!

How is this restaurant with treenut and sesame allergies?

There are plenty of items on the menu without those ingredients. Call if you're concerned with shared preparation issues.

    No happy hour!

Can you dine downstairs if you made a reservation online?

Reservations are accepted for upstairs only. Downstairs dining is walk-in basis.

Is this a good place for a "no-host group of 30?

I would think so! There are actually two levels-- upstairs is a bit fancier and require you to order off of a fancier steak and seafood menu. The lower level is more casual (cocktails, small plates, etc) and gets and stays busier.. The service is…

Are reservations a must? And if you can't get one, do they accept walk in's?

Reservations are always going to be the best route, but we did walk-up back in October, and got pretty lucky. There's a lot to do right around there, shops and such, but they can sometimes get you in to the downstairs bar area faster than the main…

    Do they serve breakfast?

Hi Kelly, I'm sorry they don't, they open at 4:00 PM. If you are looking for an alternative with the same view and taste, we went to HuiHui inside the Kaanapali Beach Hotel and their breakfast was "superb". We went there for breakfast on our first…

If open table has no available reservations, is there another option?

It has been a couple weeks since we ate there but they did allow walk-ins. We would just send someone to check-in 90-120 minutes before we wanted to eat.

Can you dine upstairs dressed in beach attire?

We frequently see trunks and a t-shirt or button shirt, and have never seen a thong w/a string bikini top at the upstairs restaurant.

Do they have gluten free options?

Yes! The items are marked on the menu with a symbol as well.

All of the reservation times during sunset were taken, so we ate a little earlier but still managed to see the sunset as we were leaving. The views from this restaurant are absolutely breathtaking. We even got to experience a light rain shower followed by a beautiful rainbow while we were there. Our server was Tim, who was beyond kind, attentive, and engaging. He displayed some of the best hospitality I have ever experienced at a restaurant. He made wonderful recommendations and truly made us feel so special celebrating our soon-to-be baby. To start, we ordered the tako (octopus); it was served in the manner in which escargot is - tons of butter and garlic, and paired well with wonderful fresh-baked bread. For our entrées, both my husband and I did a duo where we could pick two smaller portions of the entrée dishes. I did a duo with the fresh lobster and lamb special, while my husband did a duo with the fish pasta special and the curry scallops. All four entrées were absolutely divine, and we thoroughly enjoyed getting to sample a little bit of everything from the menu. To wrap things up, we had to try the infamous pineapple macadamia nut bread pudding with salted caramel, and they even gave us a complementary dessert for our babymoon, which was their take on a s'more. Both desserts were phenomenal, but I could have easily eaten two helpings of the pineapple macadamia nut bread pudding.
