The staff was incredibly friendly, upon check‑in, they welcomed us with a refreshing lavender‑infused towel, a reusable water bottle with refill stations throughout the property, and a cute beach tote to keep. They also offer orchids for the ladies to pin in their hair, which is a charming touch. The rooms were modern, clean, and offered plenty of storage. There are two pools, both kept at a comfortable temperature that makes for a refreshing dip. They allow guests to use the amenities while waiting for their room to be ready, which we appreciated since we arrived early. Pros: - Beach is across the street - Room was cute and clean - Key room is a wrist band. Very convenient especially if you're swimming or carrying something Cons: The morning front desk staff were rude. We arrived very early and knew our room wasn't going to be ready. The front desk girl said she will text us when the room was ready but guaranteed it will be ready by 4pm. They did send us a text to check in and offered early check in for an extra $40. We signed up for that but was then told early check in was no longer available. What do you know, we never received a text that the room was ready. When we went to the front desk a little after 4pm the next shift staff told us that our room had been ready. No one notified us. My husband who is normally the calm one who doesn't let things bother him was very upset by the whole experience. He never wants to stay at this hotel again. Says a lot when you piss off someone who never gets upset about anything. read more

Kihei is a vibe and the location is the biggest selling point -- beach literally right across the street, walkable to everything. That said, a few things worth knowing before you book. We checked into our first room and pretty quickly noticed a couple bugs -- not thrilling, but honestly pretty standard for Hawaii, just part of the tropical experience. On top of that the shower curtain was way too short -- water spraying all over the bathroom floor every single shower. We brought it up to the front desk and they were great about it, upgraded us to an ocean view room without any hassle. New room had shower doors, no water issues, no bugs, and the view was stunning -- ended up being a solid win. The ocean view room was a great upgrade all around. Fridge held steady around 39°F and worked perfectly -- good to know if you're grabbing groceries since the first room's smart fridge was reading 42°F but things were somehow getting half frozen. WiFi is available but unsecured, just a heads up. Beyond the room situation -- lots of good stuff. Free parking, free shuttle within 3 miles, early check-in no problem, Keurig in the room, washer and dryer on every floor with detergent pods already provided, ice machine right there in the laundry room. Two pools (saline and chlorine), fire torches around the pool at night, live music nightly -- we missed it due to rain but it looked like a great setup. Front desk and hospitality staff were genuinely warm the entire stay. Two restaurants on property which was super convenient. Kihei Caffé was the breakfast spot -- chicken and waffles, loco moco, solid classics, kids were happy and portions are generous. Miso Phat Sushi was just okay -- decent food, great service, but nothing that really wowed us. Bottom line -- staff saved the day more than once and the location is unbeatable. Maui Coast Hotel is centrally located in Kihei, making it an ideal location as a home base for your adventures in Maui. If you're a foodie, there are many local places with great ratings within walking distance to the hotel and of you want something more upscale, Wailea is only 7 minutes away. The hotel is right across the street from great beaches for swimming and snorkeling. Equipment rentals are close by. The hotel has easy access and a large outside lot close to the towers. Upon entering the lobby, the staff greeted us and we found them friendly and professional. We received refreshing face towels, aluminum water bottles and digital wrist bands upon check-in to the new Kai Tower. The lobby in the Kai Tower had a water machine to fill our bottles. We loved using it upon leaving for our day's adventure and again when returning to our room. We found our room to be spacious and clean. A large seating area ran along the wall across from the bed with many large drawers underneath. The bed was very comfortable and the air conditioning worked perfectly. We found the room sufficiently quiet and slept peacefully. The bar and pool areas were very nice and had a fun vibe with live music every night. We had a mixed experience at Maui Coast Hotel. When we arrived, the room was not properly prepared and was dusty. We contacted the hotel so someone could come and look at it. Two male staff members came to our room but did not introduce themselves or explain their roles. One of them said he was a manager and spoke to us in a raised tone. When we asked him to lower his voice, he said he was not yelling, even though that is how it felt. He also offered us to leave a hotel like one of the options. Later, management did respond to my email and applied a partial refund, which I appreciate. Because of that, I want to be fair and mention that the issue was eventually addressed. Still, the way this was handled at the beginning left a negative impression. I hope the hotel improves how guest concerns are handled, especially at a management level. In general, the property is well maintained and the rooms are modern enough. Update: I also want to mention Assistant Manager Joanna. She was very professional and kind. After we talked through all the issues and resolved everything, she offered us a very good discount and moved us to a much better room. This is our second time back to this hotel. I will definately come again and stay here. We first came to this hotel 30 years when it was just built. There was only one tower... and the back and floors above was still being completed. 30 years later.... we are back. There are two towers... infinity pool... hot tub... live music... bike to ride... pickleball courts... Kihei Caffe... Miso Phat.... A lot has changed.... shuttle services... refillable water station. wrist band door key...I was very impressed. The staffs that we've encounter were exceptionally friendly. Parking was always available. Beach across the street. The rooms are comfortable.... I am literally sitting here in the room writing this review. We are checking out shortly.... We didn't really enjoy the Fitness room... the pool.... the hot tub... but every night...when we returned... greated with live music...friendly smiles... We loved everything about the Maui Coast Hotel. It was super convenient to the locations surrounding. The beach is directly across the street (have to cross the street and walk to public access). The sunsets from the balconies are stunning. The pool was a big hit for my kiddos. Only downside is if you or your family go to bed early, they have live music until 10pm every night and it doesn't drown out well in the rooms near the pool. The restaurant is still under construction but for the time being, they are serving breakfast, lunch and dinner at the pool. Rooms were super clean and updated in the tower we stayed in. Great location. The new tower is lovely and updated and modern. Parking is easy and free. The beach is right across the street, very close. The staff was super friendly, The view from our Kai king ocean view was breathtaking! The room has a mini fridge and microwave and lots of storage. There is free laundry on each floor and they supply you with detergent! The room is very comfortable! With sofa, spacious lanai and fridge and microwave. Awesome sitting bench with a table for easy in room dining. Live music every night at the pool car was so awesome, the musicians were excellent. You can chill on your lanai and listen or our go down to the pool area. The pool has so much seating and super comfy day beds that are free!! The bathroom is very large with a nice walk in shower. Downside, water pressure was not the greatest and water did not get hotter than lukewarm. I love the stream your own TV, I think every hotel should have this! read more

We had a wonderful three night stay at Maui Coast Hotel. The staff was welcoming from the start and exemplified the aloha spirit throughout our stay. Our room was in the Kai Tower, which is only two years old. We overlooked the pool area but it wasn't too noisy; the live music at the bar was done every night by 9pm. The bathroom has an awesome large walk-in shower and the counter space is ample. The bedroom itself was also very spacious with two closets, a mini-fridge, microwave, safe, and seating area. The hotel has cruiser bikes for guests to use although we didn't get a chance to do so. We did use the fitness center which is larger than typical hotel gyms. It had numerous cardio machines, free weights, a Smith machine, and Hoist weight machines. There are two large pools, one of which was a wonderful saline pool that I was able to swim laps in; this was a real treat for me. The hotel is located within walking distance of the beach (right across the street!) as well as numerous eateries, a Foodland, and an ABC store. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again-mahalo for everything! read more

This was a great hotel centrally located in Kihei and walkable to many great restaurants, food trucks, and Kamaole beach park! We stayed in the newer Kai Tower and enjoyed the spacious layout of the room and had everything we needed (mini fridge, microwave, electric safe, closet space, steamer, etc.). The only thing I didn't like about the room layout was that the closet was split in two sections with a kitchenette in the middle. I didn't like how much we had to slide the doors back and forth to access the closet/drawers and the kitchenette, but this was very minor. We were given a small package/foldable tote and two reusable steel water bottles in the room. I loved that there were water refilling stations throughout the resort as well on the first floor. My husband and I came for our honeymoon, and we were happily surprised to find a bottle of champagne in our mini fridge and two glasses with a congratulatory note. This was a thoughtful touch we weren't expecting! The hotel also has little cruiser bikes guests can borrow and they provide a cute shuttle that will take you to nearby areas. The fitness center was large and had a lot of different equipment which was nice. The pools and hot tub weren't huge but still enjoyable after a long day out of hiking and snorkeling. Kihei Caffe and Miso Phat were still under construction during our stay, but once they open, I'm sure it will be great to have dining options on site as well. read more

Really like this hotel! We needed a place to stay for one night before our Airbnb was available. Great location, easy to find, beach across the street. Rooms were clean, beds comfortable and it comes with a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. The following day after check out, , we were allowed to use their pool facilities until we were able to check into our new accomodations. We tried both pools and all 3 hot tubs. I stayed at this property for 2 nights in early December 2024 and wanted to share some updates. 1. A new tower adjacent to the original building, as well as an additional parking lot has been added to the resort. 2. Along with the new tower, a new pool and hot tub has also been added to the property. 3. The lobby (as of this writing, 12/11/24) is under construction. Staff are utilizing desks as a temporary check-in section. The concierge has also been relocated near the hallway to the 1st floor guest rooms. Unsure of the completion date. 4. I used the pool(s) and hot tub on this visit. The pool attendants will provide towels and chair covers (towel fabric) for guests. There is a bar at the pool area that has happy hour from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. Just fyi, there are no servers walking around the pool area; please go to the bar to order your drinks and/or food. There's live music at the pool area/bar area in the evenings. 5. There is a restaurant, Kihei Caffe (see my separate review), located on the 1st floor of the building closest to the main driveway of the resort. It's a convenient breakfast option. My fiancé and I loved our two nights stay at Maui Coast Hotel in the newly built Kai Tower! As a residence of Hawaii from another island, Maui Coast Hotel in Kihei really gave us the resort vibe without being in the luxury Wailea. From the moment we checked in, we were greeted with big smiles and a nice cold towels to wipe our hands. Check-in process was so fast and easy via the app. The room was very spacious and new. The complimentary laundry on every floor was great for those who want to wash their clothes after going to the beach across the street and they provide free detergent too. I think the amenity fee was worth it. We spent the afternoon in the pool and jacuzzi while enjoying live music and sipping our mai tai. It would be great if we can charge our F&B to our room in the pool bar, because we didn't bring our wallet with us and they said they can't charge to the room yet. Good thing we have our phone to pay. The fitness center was the biggest we've seen in a hotel and equipped with many weightlifting equipments. Kihei Caffe and Miso Phat were under renovation and we can't wait to visit next time when both restaurants open, which will provide more food options in the hotel. We highly recommend staying at Maui Coast Hotel in Kihei. It's in a great location and very conveniently located nearby great restaurants and Kamaole Beach. I had such an amazing experience that I booked another reservation and I haven't even left the hotel. It was that amazing. Front desk staff was so accommodating. The kind Valet guy was so nice and gave us so many great tips! Offered us complimentary rides and knew so much about the island. Reservations was also amazing. Quick, easy to understand and pick, no left and right hidden fees. They literally pick up the phone with 1-2 rings. You gotta be quick to respond. Other hotels- make you wait and seem to keep on getting the run around. One thing that they had was the sincere Aloha vibe compared to the other hotels I've been to. All staff had that vibe. Lastly- the one thing that stood out to me the most was the complimentary bikes!! I got so excited since I love cycling and that was the cherry on top for me! read more

My friends and I chose to spend our annual "Friendscation" trip in Maui so that we could support Maui businesses as much as we could. We decided to stay in Kihei on the south coast of Maui. I had stayed at the Maui Coast Hotel before and remembered it was a great location and they were adding a brand new Kai Tower that would be completed a few months before our stay. We took advantage of their great kama'aina (Hawaii resident) rate. The double queen room sleeps four and was a very spacious 388 sqft with a walk-in shower and lanai. We just loved the layout of the room especially the well-thought-out placement of seating along the wall with drawer storage underneath. The clever layout allowed us to spread out and still have ample space when the other families came over. There was a total of 15 of us comfortably talking story and playing cards in the room before bedtime. The room has a microwave, coffee maker, and mini refrigerator. Bath amenities are in the shower wall and include shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. I loved that the bath towels were so plush. A big plus for families is the complimentary self-service washer and dryer located on each floor next to ice machine! There are plenty of lounge chairs under umbrellas by the pool and lap pool. The on-property Kihei Caffe provides the reasonably priced food for the Hanohano Pool bar. There is a happy hour (3pm to 6pm) and live music from 6pm to 9pm. The daily $35 resort fee includes self-parking, cruiser bikes, 24 hour fitness center, and shuttle service available daily from 7am to 10pm for transportation within the Kihei and Wailea areas. Coming soon to the resort are pickleball courts and the 2025 opening of a sundry shop and Miso Phat Sushi restaurant. We all agreed we had an amazing stay at the Maui Coast Hotel. One friend thought the new Kai Tower was nicer than many five star hotels he has stayed in. From check-in to pool service and housekeeping, the staff and service was excellent. The location is also hard to beat with so many great restaurants within walking distance and Kamaole Beach I just across the street. Stayed at this relaxed hotel for a week. The good and the bad.... The good: nice relaxing property with with all the bases covered. - nice clean pool area -restaurant was being remodeled while I was there, but service was being provided at the pool area. Pleasantly passed with the food and the drinks. - nice water refill stations and tefillable water bottles provided. - bikes if you wanted -beds were comfortable - local van shuttle service within 3 miles - clean property and very convenient to areas on the Southside. I'd never stayed on this side of the island, it's nice and more relaxed, but did require driving to leave the area. I was grateful I had a rental to easily get around. - there were also self serve laundry rooms, which I thought were very thoughtful & useful. - staff was pleasant and everyone was efficient at their respective jobs. Especially appreciated the lady at the pool area. She was very sweet. The bad or mixed view: How do they decide who gets the tired, dingy old rooms verses who gets the nice sleek new rooms? -1 st room placed in... tired, dingy felt like flash back to the 80's. Think Hawaii 5-0 for the older people reading. - I requested a nicer room...miraculously, they have a whole nicer building. It only cost an additional $20 agreement (she stated was normally $40). Ok, at least the new room was 100% better. We will ignore the fact that was starting at a parking lot. But then ... tried to sleep... horrible! There were load noises all through the room. The bathroom sounds like toilets running all night, some equipment sounds in the front.... it was horrible. Made no sense since room was on top floor. -I again had to request a new room. This time I'm told an additional $15 will be placed on my room charge. Ok, now I'm placed on the pool side, bottom floor. This is what I originally requested, only took 3 inconvenient moves. The painful part is...I now know without a doubt the noises in the room (which are loud all night)... are probably the result of a bad design. The bathroom door must be kept closed because the running water sound is severe. The equipment sounds that Cone from front of unit... no idea, but was in both front and back units. This is a pretty outside appearance hotel with all the amenities a reasonable person would need. Only thing is, if you aren't a hard sleeper, you will not be sleeping well. - on check out, they added all these upgrades to a resort fee totaling another $700. I can assure you it wasn't worth additional $700...ǰust felt life gouging. Overall, I enjoyed the space expect for trying to sleep. My penal experience felt like 3 star, but the property as a whole and the staff kept it at 4 star. read more

Great place to have a little staycation. We only stayed for a night but stayed at the pool after check out. They are able to hold your luggage which worked out perfect. There are cabanas at the pool that are first come first serve which is AWESOME! And there are quite a few and most people actually didn't gravitate towards those. Most folks there were there for the tanning and the sun. There is a lap pool now which was heavenly. Can get a little workout in until kids take over haha! But nice to see everyone having a good time In this hot weather. Canela (hopefully I spelled her name right) at the pool was just wonderful!!! Such personable and great customer service from her. She greeted us and set us up with the towels AND the lounge chair towels too! And later on in the afternoon (when it was even hotter!!!) she came around with complimentary mochi ice cream for everyone. What a treat! We had breakfast at Kihei caffe which is on the property but in a different building (and the fitness center is above that). We got there around 745 (I believe they open at 7 am) and there were about 3 parties in front of us. Line moved fast and after ordering we went to find a table which was easy to do. Breakfast also came pretty quick. This Kihei caffe location didn't have as much as the original location but the wait here is much much shorter! When we left l, it was around 830 and the line was longgggg. Glad we came to eat earlier. Earlier is always better! All in all, would def recommend this hotel for local people and visitors. There is a new building/tower of rooms which we didn't get to check out but heard it was pretty nice! Our room was in the older side but was a fine place to stay. Service was good and parking was free (can't get any better than that!). There is also bikes to rent out AND a shuttle to take you 3 miles in either direction! read more

Very saddening conditions since staying in new building. Front desk has lost their friendly helpfulness. They and housekeepers only allows one towel at pool, only 3 coffee pods daily. TV is only facing bed and not able to see from couch as it doesn't turn swivel. 2 foot storage lockers along wall hurt my back. Bathroom heavy sliding wooden door sticks. Shower stall leaking. I spent 5 nights at this hotel and had a great time! Loved the many selections of the pools for any age and preference. Even though the one cocktail I ordered at the poolside bar was so weak, it tasted almost like juice. Housekeeping every day was a huge plus. They give you free bikes for a ride around the city, which was very sweet of them. Also, everybody I met was super nice to me here. I am deducting one star because my room was on the second floor facing the parking lot, which was obviously different than what I saw at the pictures before booking my stay. Overall, if you pay a little extra for a fancier room, this would make it a very nice choice for a hotel in Maui. read more

Extra fee for parking daily is a slight bummer, and wish the pool bar did actual pool service since you pay a resort fee. Hopefully the restaurants nearby are finished renovating soon. read more

As a person that just got use to staying here I am very disappointed. My entire family 5 rooms stay yearly. We are now looking elsewhere, they added a parking fee Like $25.00 per night on top of a resort fee. Of $125.00 per night. The food on site is 3 rd party and served in to go containers . No price adjusted for their slow roll out of future restaurant I guess . Please just list the price of the room that includes all fees including the double taxation of rooms . Iam not cheap just looking for value with my stay. Unfortunately just could not get past the resort fees and parking fees. Rooms beds and pools nice. Beautiful hotel in Kihei! Kihei is a great location to be in if you want to explore all Maui (West side, Hana Highway, Kahului, and Haleakalā National Park). This hotel is a mile away from amazing restaurants and food trucks. Room: Very clean. Each room has a balcony with a table and 2 chairs for you to enjoy the breeze in the morning or evening. Staff: Very friendly. We passed by some cleaning crew in the hallway and they always gave us a big smile and said hi. Front desk is also very helpful if you need any recommendations. Pool: Nice and big. They also have 2 hot tubs. One of them is kinda like room temp but the other one is hotter. Check before you get in. They also have beach towels, complimentary sun screen and cooling lotions at the pool entrance, so don't pack your beach towels for your trip. Borrow the towels here in the morning and return when you get back. Shuttle bus: Complimentary service within 3 miles. We didn't use this service because we rented a car to go to other places, but this is good to know. Bike rental: Complimentary! They're all cruiser bikes. You just need to pick a bike, remember the bike number, sign a waiver at the front desk and they will give you the key. We took a bike to and rode 2 miles each way to get shave ice and had a super nice ride along the beach. Hospitality room: If your return flight is late and you still have a whole day on the island but have to check out at their check-out time, don't worry at all. You can still go to the beach and get in the water. The hotel has a hospitality room for you to shower before you head to the airport. They have 6 toilets, 2 big shower rooms, towels, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, hand wash, hand balm, body location, Q-tips, and makeup removers. No shower caps and no hair dryer. There's no extra charge to access this room because this room is covered in the resort fees that you already pay. Pricing: reasonable for it being a fancy looking hotel. There are many other Airbnb or apartments for rent nearby and they charge about the same. We're so happy that we chose Maui Coast Hotel. I highly recommend this hotel for your trip! read more

Location is in Kihei which is a town that's not very touristy and has a great mellow vibe. It's across the street from Direct beach access and nothing beats the morning dip In the calm waters or the sunset walk. Only cons were that plumbing system is old and we had multiple issues during our stay, but the handyman showed up very quickly to remedy the situation but we wished we didn't have to experience same issues several times. The rooms are standard hotels rooms no more no less. The construction can be heard from the pool/restaurant but not from the rooms. read more

I found this place on Expedia and I must say I was very happy. This is a great spot to stay if you plan on spending your vacation exploring or at the beach. They have a small pool and and a spa. The restaurant on property is decent for breakfast. The bar makes cheap drinks. They have tennis courts. The best part is that the rooms are very clean and affordable. This hotel is close to a lot of great restaurants and a beautiful beach. read more

Loved our stay here! Property is clean, room was clean and had nice amenities, location is perfect to all restaurants and beaches, staff is organized (check in and out was seamless), they are all friendly and helpful. SHOUT OUT TO PETER!!! We met him on our first day. He was out front and as we were walking in he immediately greeted us and asked if we needed assistance. We had a couple of hours to kill before checking in so he gave us spots to eat at. He was just so warm and welcoming... like we were all friends already. He is a genuine soul. We saw him a few more times during our stay and he always greeted us with aloha and talked to us for a bit and gave us recs on where and what to eat. We saw him as we were checking out and said our see ya laters. because of him we will definitely return! Mahalo for all the love! read more

Originally, we were supposed to stay in Lahaina, but our hotel burned down in the fire. We grappled with what to do, and decided to keep our trip to Maui but shift our stay to South Maui instead. In a bit of a scramble, I found the Maui Coast Hotel, and it seemed to fit all our needs at a reasonable price point. I'm happy to say that our stay was wonderful. The room was clean, large, and very comfortable. The resort fees include the replenishment of bottled waters in your room fridge daily, and I appreciated that (the hotel we stayed at in Kauai only provided waters upon check-in). It's just one less thing to have to think about. The staff were great and always helpful if we had questions. The location was perfect for us. It was close to a lot of things, and we would easily walk to the beach as well. Something to keep in mind, there is an independently run gift shop in the lobby, and you can rent beach chairs and umbrellas there for $5 each per day. It's not well advertised, but I had emailed the hotel prior to our visit to ask about renting beach chairs and they shared this info with me. My only complaint-ish is that a lot of the parking spots in the parking lot were pretty narrow. This might be a common problem as our hotel in Kauai was honestly even worse, but just keep this in mind if you rent a larger car. Ours was a midsize and not particularly big, but I still found some of the spots to be comically small and impossible to get into (especially if larger cars parked on either side). Aside from that, no complaints! I would definitely stay at Maui Coast Hotel on future trips to Maui! It hit all of the marks (cleanliness, comfort, service, location) and was within our budget. read more

Nice small hotel. Well kept and best part is the pool bar area. Bartender and locals make this a true dive local. If I was a local I would definitely hang out here with reasonably priced drinks and decent food options. Great atmosphere, tasty food and laid back vibe. read more

I spoke to assistant general manager to request just 20 minutes later checkout after checking in at 6 pm the night prior and she didn't even entertain a conversation! Wow. We paid $900 for one night - I'm absolutely appalled. Would never recommend a place with this type of hospitality. Unbelievable. read more

It was hard enough coming down to deal with my mom's passing this past January 12th, dealing with all the emotions, seeing extended family and what comes with that piece of reality when reflecting on the bridges I burned in the young days of addiction and ignorance.. Our grandchildren are fishes Maui Coast has two pools, hot tubs and both cater to their swimming needs. Gets them out of your hair for hours til' the munchies arise. A nice little, wouldn't say a snack bar, because they serve some delish pool side grub. We had the chicken pizza, truffle fries, of course your regular fries, calamari, fish sticks (no, not your frozen VanDeCamps or Gortons) GOOD FISH little private poolside cabanas. The staff that deal with your towels and pool lounger coverings, greet you with a smile and are very professional and courteous. I love the fire torches that surround the pool, staff lights them up during the evening. Our kids who are young parents, that deal with life in California and the prevalent cutthroat rudeness they are accustomed to were impressed by the real aloha spirit of kindness and genuine care, such a breath of fresh air for the soul. The hotel itself. I have not one complaint I can think of, honestly. Maui Coast, thank you, thank you, thank you for making this a truly memorable occasion.
