I stayed here due to attending a conference with the Truck Safety Coalition. Having never been to Washington, DC, I didn't know what exactly to expect. This location is unbelievably close to the airport. It took NO time to transfer both with and without traffic. Upon arrival, Hannibal, the guest services rep, was MORE than gracious with directions, information, and suggestions. Following check-in, I went to my room and was definitely surprised. The accomodations were far beyond what I expected. The bed felt like a dream...possibly brand new! The pillows were so soft! The robes and umbrellas that were provided in the rooms... just WOW! The room was well designed/decorated/ventilated. EVERY hotel staff member was exceptional! The staff in the "market/coffee shop" were so polite and knew what their store carried and placement within it! The bar staff seemed to work their butts off each night my group was there, as did the kitchen staff! *As a bonus, I was able to extend my stay in my room by the hour on the day of my check out because my plane wasn't leaving until early evening! I cannot say enough about this experience. The hotel was icing on the cake for my first trip to Capitol Hill! I hope my yearly meeting will remain at this hotel! It is such a treat. read more

I booked this hotel trying to create a memorable first experience in DC for my children on their Spring Break. We booked based on the beautiful photos of the property and the fact that this was the only hotel with an indoor pool. We arrived late and checked in at midnight after a full day of travel from the west coast. There was nobody available at the front desk. After 20 minutes of waiting a woman came in to check us in. She said the pool was closed. She asked for my card for an additional $350 in resort and destination fees, on top of $1100 I paid for four nights. Why the resort fee is being charged when no amenities can be used is beyond me. When we got to the room, my son found pubic hair in the bathroom and crumbs on the bed. The lobby was a mess. I couldn't fall asleep till 3:30am due to the poor experience. At 8am, housekeeping barged into the room even though we put a do not disturb sign on it. I had to jump out in my underwear to tell her to leave as we were sleeping. No apologies were given. This was a terrible experience for me as a frequent traveler and for my kids' first time visiting DC. In the morning I asked for the manager (Kyle) and requested to be immediately checked out and refunded. We left at 10am and found another property to stay, missing our ticketed excursions. I just got off the phone with the agency who booked our reservation and they're telling me that the reservation was non-refundable. I would like for Hyatt to make this right. Attaching photos of the property, I don't know how Hyatt feels comfortable taking $350+ per night for this type of accommodation. The room is just OK, not anything more. The walls, however, are paper thin. We can hear EVERYTHING from the room next to us (including the ignorant guests who are oblivious to why it is ignorant to let their child constantly bounce a basketball in their room. The much better hotel, The better appointed Mayflower, is much less expensive. The restaurant: the wait staff is totally understaffed. Our kind server was trying her best to get everyone served. I told her not to rush for us; we were not in a hurry. She said she hadn't even had time to go to the bathroom. She unnecessarily apologized to us about being so very busy. Came here for an event with friends. Put in a two double-bed room with a little refrigerator, a desk, a nice dresser with coffee maker and all of the nice Hyatt fixings. Bathroom is clean and mostly updated with just a curtain. All the fixtures look nice. But as you look closer there are some definite need for updating in these rooms. The desk has dried liquid stains that are very visible when the sun is shining on it. The end table between the beds has some pretty evident wood damage to it. Everything looks a little beaten and just could really use an update. There's also a problem with the climate control. We would be gone for a few hours and come back and find most of our stuff covered with a layer of dust. So obviously this system is just spewing out dust and after the third night here, we're all sneezing and not enjoying the very dry air. For the rest of the hotel, it's very nice and very corporate Washington DC. Beautiful lobby and friendly staff. Housekeeping was very friendly as they introduce themselves to us when they came around and we made sure to tip them. Elevators were quick and overall a good experience. But everything else is brought it down a little bit. I would stay again if I had to but it's not my first choice. read more

Hyatt Regency, I wanted to share my story with you! I will no longer be staying at a Hilton during my travels! Thank you for making me feel safe! I checked out of the Hilton and booked at the Hyatt! I arrived in D.C. on Monday April 10 for work at the Capitol, I work on Staff for a U.S. Senator! I arrived at the hotel around 5 to check in, my room was not ready, but the attendant checked me in and off to room 1505 I go. I had been up since 5 A.M. traveling I needed to be up the next morning at 5 A.M. again! I shut the lights off at 8:00 P.M. fell asleep and woke up to a knock, I went to open my hotel door only to have the person on the other side of door open the door with the master key, he was accompanied by another man. He immediately asked my name, I told him, he said, we do not have you registered to stay here. I stated, how would I have a key, I called the front desk to request a bag of ice as the ice machine was not working on my floor, a sign said to call the front desk! The person who opened my hotel room door was Mohammad the Manager of the Hilton! He said he called the room; he did not I would have heard the hotel phone ring. I thought about what just happened, I was rattled, I am in D.C. alone in a hotel room that I should have felt safe in and it was the opposite! I couldn't sleep, I felt violated! NO WAY my hotel door should have been opened! I called Mohammad to ask how could I not be registered? He said, the room was assigned to another guest who checked in online, and the hotel failed to update this in their system when I checked in. The guest tried using the key to 1505, but it did not work since I was in the room and had already checked in! I immediately felt unsafe and violated! What if I had a weapon and used it when I heard the door open? Mohammad never announced who he was before he opened the door! Obviously, I was upset! HE offered to knock off 100 off my room! Unacceptable! My life felt endangered and 100 was the price! I told him to have his GM called me, Stacey, she was pleasant and comped 2 days of my stay, I had a pizza and one drink that was comped! I checked out on Sunday and rebooked at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill! I had a wonderful night's sleep, and NO ONE invaded my privacy! Shame on you HILTON! I am a Hilton Loyalty member! This could be a legal case! My experience at the Hilton was disappointing and caused unnecessary trauma due to the negligence of the staff! If you are a single female, beware! I was never afforded the chance to open the door myself; my right was taken away from me when Mohammad used the master key to open the door! read more

Came here for a work meeting on a weekend in September. It was barely an adequate stay. Would not pay to stay here for vacation. The rooms were basic; mine had a view of the firehouse and construction. Location is near the capital but also adjacent to homeless shelters. The phone staff (especially operator) are extremely dismissive and interruptive. The heat in my room didn't work. I was fine under several blankets and wearing my sweatpants, but staff did not seem even slightly bothered by this. Would be a much bigger issue for me if it were not the fall with mild weather currently. Everything is barely adequate. The treadmills are aged, shower head wouldn't work properly, aging furniture etc. My room didn't have a soap dish and the trash can was falling apart. The pool is medium sized with one end 3'11'm and the other 4'6". Looked to be in decent shape. read more

It's clear when you look at the hotel from the street that they are renovating upper rooms, and it's well overdue! This is a prime location and Hyatt takes that for granted! Buyer beware! Prices are astronomical and rooms are subpar. Dirty carpets, faucets that are difficult to open (sticky), and amenities that appear run-down (lounge chairs with tears, stains on chairs). Also, prices at the restaurant are disturbing: over $30 for buffet breakfast with runny eggs and subpar sides. Further, for those of you that enjoy a drink at the bar, get ready for sticker shock. For those of you who may say "It's DC!", the bar at the hotel across the street has a cheaper old fashion. Please, do better Hyatt! Perhaps the upgrades will make a difference. So I checked in at the Hyatt Regency in Washington DC on June 9, 2024 for a business trip. The business made the reservations for me and several others. I had no contact with or arrangements with Hyatt prior to my arrival. Upon arrival, I was told there were 2 reservations for me, so they cancelled one of them. This happened to several others in the group as well. This was a mistake on Hyatt's part for "double booking" many of our reservations. They did ask for my credit card for incidentals only. At the end of the week, I checked out. The only bill I received was for a $39.00 incidental bill for charging dinner to the room one evening. No other bill was given to me at check out. When I arrived home in California, the following week I noticed daily charges being assessed to my credit card for each nights stay. I called the hotel, explained everything, and asked them to reverse the charges and bill the employer who made the reservations. That ended the conversation. A few days later, more charges were added. I called again, and they told me someone would call me back within an hour to go over the bill. No one ever called back, and they still have not called me. Yesterday, I saw a lump sum charge for over $1,400.00 on my credit card. Unbelievable! I called my credit card company and now need to go through a dispute. To make it clear, I never authorized any charges to my credit card except for incidentals. And my phone calls apparently did nothing because they keep making the mistake or charging me and not the business who made the reservations. This is a badly managed hotel chain. I will not stay in any Hyatt ever again. They are wasting my time and have terrible customer service. They also have no email to contact them for customer service inquiries. read more

We came here during renovations but things were fine. There was no construction noise and we were given one of the renovated rooms for our stay. This property was the perfect location for us! The room was nice and everything was in great working order. It's not a room that will "wow" you, but the bed was very comfortable and all the furniture was in great shape. The breakfast buffet was one of the better ones I have tried with Hyatt. Lots of options including egg whites and probiotic yogurt along with all the traditional items like eggs, bacon, etc. The staff was friendly and helpful. I had business in DC for a week at the Georgetown Law School which was close by (a block away) and I was put up in this hotel. Overall I had a good experience, the rooms were nice and clean although the bed was not the most comfortable, but that was the worst part of the hotel. The restaurant was better than expected and the gym was one of the better hotel gyms I've been to. Very short walk to the national Mall with the Capitol building right outside the hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful throughout my stay. Beware though, I paid $8 for 1 liter of water at the gift shop. The only reason I stayed here is because I attended a conference that was in this hotel. It's an outdated hotel. Although is is under renovation it does to seem like the improvements will may that much difference. We arrived at 2:30pm after traveling since 6am. I checked in my room and was told the restaurant was open until 11pm. We had not eaten all day and went up to the restaurant and were turned away because lunch ended at 2pm. There were literally 5 employees standing behind the bar doing absolutely nothing but talking to one another. The is only one restaurant behind the hotel that closed at 2:45pm. Since check in is at 3pm you would think that they would keep some food options available for guest who are arriving. Also, the room was very stale and the air was hardly working. If I would have know there was a Hilton right across the street I would have stayed there instead. read more

I didn't stay here, just came here for an event in one of the large ballrooms. The setup, video, sound, seating, etc. were all good. The continental breakfast/beverage spread before the meeting was solid as well. This hotel feels pretty generic and I think the main reason folks come here is for meetings or maybe lobbying on Capitol Hill. It's not the most convenient location for driving/parking and parking at the hotel is crazy expensive so plan accordingly. Friendly enough at check-in, the employee offered inaccurate information about my room. At midnight, I simply couldn't find the off switch for some of the lighting... and the front desk couldn't describe it well. Maintenance came up to try to adjust the clock, which was about 8 hours off and had the alarm pre-set. The stairwell was not well-maintained, so we took the elevator instead of walking one flight. Spent a day here on a Thursday. The stay was for 10 hours but we arrived around 11A to check in. The actual room looked totally different than the online photos. The room is actually much older. Room Service is long gone. If you order food, you must go downstairs and pick it up yourself. I had the Salmon entrée, it was delish. Alcoholic drinks/beer cannot really be ordered until the bar is open. We were able to get 2 beers however (glass). Beer openers were provided in our food bag which was a nice touch - we left it there. Also, another person was able to given the same room number and keycard. As we were wrapping up our work day, around 5pm, a Man started walking in and said "goodness, they accidentally gave me your room". SMH. SCARY that the hotel would mix up like this - Just thankful I wasn't alone and it was in the daytime This location is maybe a 15 minute walk from Union Station, I ubered from the city however. Never received the final bill from the hotel, which is a disappointment - especially since it's been 4 days since check out. Will be calling. read more

This hotel is fine; the 3.5 average Yelp rating is fair. The hotel is within walking distance from the Capitol, the mall, all major museums, and Union Station, which is great. The location, however, is also kind of a food wasteland, with not many options for lunch or dinner: There is a restaurant across the street, a couple of pubs a few blocks away, and that's about it. If you want to find more restaurants and bars, you will need to walk about 15 minutes. It is also a bit eerie after dark, as this part of DC is basically deserted at night. The hotel has a nice, spacious lobby. The bar is ok for cocktails, but the beer selection is rather sad. The restaurant wasn't operational during our visit, although you could order food at the bar from a limited menu. There is a buffet breakfast available, but only Friday through Sunday. The other days you have to order from a limited selection. I actually felt bad for the workers at the buffet, as many guests weren't wearing masks even though the buffet was in a small room. Unsure why some people are so inconsiderate in the middle of a pandemic, but mask wearing in common areas of the hotel is not enforced. There is a heated pool, and a gym with weights and machines. During our stay the pool was busy at times, while the gym was empty at most times. Our room was spacious and clean, and the bed comfy. Parking at the hotel is expensive, but there is a Colonial Parking garage on the block opposite that is much cheaper. read more

Water pressure in the shower was amazing. No matted hair, not having to desperately figure out a way to de-soap. Hallelujah! The lighting was also good. The noise level in the hallway was an issue but marauding riffraff and boisterous pimply faced youth are not hotel issues--its parenting ones. The TV was huge and easy to huge. My husband and I stayed here for work-related reasons. The front desk clerk with whom we first interacted, Sirab, was so kind and welcoming. The hotel lobby was very nice and clean. I will say we did not use the valet parking service because it was $62 per night....even though this bill was on the company for which my husband works, we couldn't bear to have that amount charged and found parking in a garage around the corner for $15 per night. Our hotel room was clean and there was a large TV with a small coffee set up. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't any refrigerator, as it was very hot outside and we had water we were hoping to keep cool. The bathroom was clean and they provided shampoo/body wash/conditioner/lotion; it just looked like the tub was a little outdated. Again, very clean though. The housekeeping staff was kind and also greeted us with smiles and a 'how are you doing?' when we passed them in the hall. The room's air conditioning seemed a bit lacking, so I'd recommend putting the temperature lower than you would normally elsewhere because the flow of the air was reduced. Breakfast was sufficient and we had welcoming hosts and a good wait staff. The hash browns are very bland, but otherwise our food was fine! Overall, we had a nice stay and appreciated the staff and cleanliness. We didn't have a chance to check out the indoor (heated) pool or workout room, but the hotel concierge informed us upon arrival that they have state of the art equipment to use for workouts (including peloton.) read more

When we pulled up the valet just stared at us- did not offer direction for where to pull in. The second valet who came out was friendly and informative. As we entered, my 9 year old daughter tripped and went down the escalator. I wasn't able to reach her and she was able to right herself. Several staff just stared at her. Not one person offered assistance. We asked if there was first aid available and the man at the desk told us to check with the bellhop. I've never seen staff so hateful and uninterested in customer service. Our floor smells dirty and our room has awful beds that are so lumpy you can see the lumps before you even sit on them. Gross! The location is down the street from most of the visitor monuments in the area and a good walking distance to most places in the city. The amenities are lack luster. I was in town for work, and definitely enjoyed my stay here. The location is fabulous; the Capitol, National Mall and Union Station are all only blocks away. I arrived rather early in the day and was planning to just drop my luggage at the front desk, and then come back later to check in, but they were able to find a room that was available so I could check in early which was wonderful! Front desk staff also eagerly helped with maps and directions to make my planned trek to see the cherry blossoms much easier. One important note: when you come in the front entrance, there is an escalator down to check in; this wasn't a problem for me, but I thought it was a little odd as it would be tough or impossible for some to navigate this. I noticed later that there is a separate accessible entrance to the left of the main door. The rooms are very good with comfortable beds, an adjustable desk chair and another chair off to the side. Closet and dresser space were both ample. The in-room coffee is Starbucks, and there is a mini-fridge. Temperature control was good, and there was plenty of hot water in the shower. The fitness center is great; very large with the cardio machines in the pool area; it was funny doing a hot and humid run in April, but kind of a nice setting. The machines were new and in good shape. I didn't use the pool, but it looked nice. The hotel asks guests to be quiet after 9PM; there were some on my floor not adhering to this, but when I finally did give up waiting on them to quiet down and called the front desk at 2:30AM, they promptly sent someone up to address the issue which was much appreciated. read more

We were here for a annual event a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely loved the spacious rooms, friendly staff, and the restaurant. The amenities in the room is very high quality. I have had no issues with anything. Bed is extremely comfortable and nice aroma in the room made our stay very memorable. We often had our brunch or the lunch at the hotel in the lobby. Brunch is widespread with plenty of options to choose from. Mostly American though. Like sausages, bacon, biscuits and gravy, peanut butter and jelly sandwich, oats, fruits, yogurt, and honey roasted ham. You can also ask for beverages such as juice, coffee or hot chocolate. For lunch they have a Italian American fusion. Couple of pasta options such as fettuccini, spaghetti and meat balls. Roast chicken, vegetables, fruits. It could be pricy depending on what time of the year you are planning to come here. Ours was expensive as it was a annual event and all the rooms were booked few months in advance. Came here to attend a security conference and was not disappointed. Checkin was smooth, although I discovered that the room provided was not ready once I got into the room, upon going back to the front desk I was upgraded to a better room I guess and provided with complimentary breakfast. The hotel is clean and most of the folks were wearing masks and observing social distancing. The room was pretty decent and clean as well (see pics), with a good view of DC. This hotel is kinda expensive due to it's proximity to the hill, but I wouldn't mind staying here again. read more

Nice location. It needs some sprucing up, but overall clean and close to everything. The sandwich sold in the lobby at lunch for $6 was perfectly priced for what it delivered. The "buffet" for $16 was a complete rip off. Sad salad bar option that had no shredded cheese and only 4 salad dressing options. Limited salad ingredients and no fruit. Ground beef, chicken breast and beef strips cut into fajita strips, Spanish rice, red beans, minestrone, and tortillas... that's it! The desserts were still in the Sara Lee pie tins they were baked in. The carrot cake was dry and not sweet enough. The waiter took 20 minutes to service us 5 drinks each with a small handful of ice that barely cooled the drink. When asked for a refill, it took one of us to hail him and follow him to get a refill. The refill soda was a Luke warm can of Diet Pepsi!! We liked the free water for the guests, the Hershey's kisses were out away and not returned. It was awkward to enter through the revolving door with your luggage and then have to go down an escalator to check in. The day we were there the escalator going down was not working, so we had the added pressure of having to pay the bellhop to help us down into the foyer... The rooms were nicely appointed, but lacked space in the bathroom for anyone needing to set up makeup/ lotions/ hygiene products. The shower curtain did a poor job in keeping the water from splashing out onto the bathroom floor. Although the ceramic tile was nice, when wet, it could be dangerous. The view was nice, and room tastefully decorated. The elevator situation was a complete mess. It took forever to hail one, and oftentimes, the elevators were too full for us to enter. After the first day. We took to hailing the elevator to head up, so we could secure a spot and ride the elevator down after it reached its highest drop off floor. Staff seemed adequate. No one went above and beyond, and no one wowed me enough to say the staff stood out. Not sure if it was the event organizer or the hotel that organized the event we attended (future city competition) but the line management, the distribution of meals, and the final day assembly was a complete mess. read more
