This post office boasts a 4.0 rating, but its actual service is an absolute joke. They claim to…read moreopen at 6:00 AM. I arrived at 7:30 AM to closed doors, which was bad enough, but by 8:00 AM, they still hadn't opened. Their excuse? 'Understaffing.' Yet, there was absolutely zero notification of this on their official website. This is a staggering level of incompetence. It's not even a question of good or bad customer service--there was literally no one there to provide it. Nearly 20 people were trapped waiting inside, all of them in a massive rush because they needed to mail their items before clocking into work. This chaotic mess is a direct result of USPS's systemic mismanagement. It is acceptable to face staffing shortages, but it is completely unacceptable to fail to update your official hours online. You mislead the public into believing you open at 6:00 AM, post a note on the wall saying 8:00 AM, and then fail to honor even that time due to a 'lack of personnel.' This is utterly ridiculous and disrespectful of people's time. Zero stars."

I paid for two-day priority shipping to have a package delivered to my mom on Mother's Day; however, it was delivered to the wrong address and was returned to Postal Pal. Even though it was finally delivered to my mom, I didn't pay $30 for delayed delivery especially for Mother's Day, so obviously I want my money back. I called USPS and waited for an hour for a service rep, only to be told that I need to submit a refund claim online. After I submitted the claim, I received an email, stating that my request was denied. So, I called customer service again and explained what happened. Higher management then reached Postal Pal, and the Postal Pal workers were just not having it. So, as you can imagine, I was close to giving up. But I went to this post office hoping that it might work this time, and I'm so glad that the guy at front cared enough to help me out. We were looking for a new printer and while this project was somewhat small, we do a fair amount of printing for clients and I was hoping Alpha would be our new resource. She assured me our printing project would not be a problem and said she'd send an estimate based on our very specific conversation and order details. Cut to a week later. I call again and talk to her, still no estimate. She apologizes, assures me she is working on it and will get it to me asap. Cut to another week. I call again and leave a message asking where is the estimate and could she call me. I get an email back later that day with confirmation on what I was looking for so she could draw up an estimate. I email all details (again) and it's now OVER another week and I have never heard back. No estimate. Thank you for wasting my time; thankfully I saw this coming and engaged with another printer. At this point, I wouldn't let them print a B/W Post-it Note for me. If this is how you treat prospective new clients who you are trying to "win", I can't imagine what the level of service is once you're engaged. Sadly, I have no idea what these high reviews are talking about!

Five stars for a Post Office?…read more Yes. Do they mess things up? Sure. Are they highly efficient for what they do? Absolutely. Most of my experiences in Post Offices involve huge lines and dawdling employees. The folks here seem to actually want to get through the line quickly. Whenever I come to ship something out they're helpful, friendly, and if treated with respect give it back in return. (Though I'd imagine they wouldn't hesitate to put the smack down if you step up. This is East Cambridge after all) The hours are a bit wonky but they open early enough (7:30) that I have plenty of time to stop in before work to pick up packages/stamps/whatever. In this neighborhood I think USPS is the best shipping option. Apparently in a past life East Cambridge was a bit shady so UPS/FEDEX refuse to leave packages at the door. This means a trip out to Somerville ($45 cab ride) or several days in rerouting (UPS sends it through Rhode Island, natch) to get your package. But the Post Office will hold it for you in the convenient office. Works for me! Sadly it seems like the Postal Service is slowly dying. I know many people could care less but it's a part of our history and really, you get a lot for your 42 cents. Until such time they will get my business.
