Terrible customer service. In August 2024, I delivered four pieces of furniture to this store for packing and shipping. Three arrived fine, but one, a floor lamp, arrived broken in two pieces. Since then, I've made more than a dozen attempts to get compensation, including several visits to the store, phone calls to the UPS complaint numbers, and emails. I have an official "claim number" from UPS, but the only substantive response is a verbal reply from the store manager that they weren't able to provide any compensation for the loss. read more

This place is difficult to review: if you arrive and Raphael is there, as he was for me today, you will get great service and accurate information with a smile--a true pleasure. If others are there, you will struggle with their very abysmal English (young and old alike) and abrupt changes (suddenly being told no, you can't do it that way, about at the point when you are ready to pay and were told all was ok before). I don't know any longer who owns this franchise, but stop hiring non-fluent employees---pricing and packaging options can be very complicated, and not being able to interact with the customer is clearly losing you business. It is frustrating when your account is in their computer and you know your sender is already there, to have problem after problem saying the letters of the alphabet to spell out the name for them to look up in the computer: "F" as in Frank is no good when they don't know Frank!! So great kudos to Raphael, and pray he is working the day/time you enter. read more

Last week I arrived with a roll of tape to send a package. The gentleman there said they were under new management and they don't charge for that anymore. I thought how nice because I had a horrible experience with the previous owners. Today I went back and didn't bring a roll of tape based on what he said previously. Can you believe he wanted to charge me for tape when he told me before it's new management and only because I might need a little more? Such bad business. Doesn't this guy know if he wasn't so cheap with the tape I would've used this business for copying, packing and shipping and anything else? Very ignorant and shortsighted. it's as bad as the previous owners. And if you need to charge your customers a dollar for a piece of tape simply raise your prices 0.5% to cover it. I don't appreciate being lied to. read more

I dropped my package off at the store to be sent via UPS. It was scanned in and that was the last that I heard of it. It was never delivered and UPS's last record of it was the day it was scanned in. I called the store twice about this. Both times, I was told that the manager would call me back but he never did. My package was lost and the store completely abandonned me and did nothing to provide me with information or help me with the claim. If you need to use UPS, go to the store in Newtonville. They are professionals. If I could give them no stars, I would. This franchise gives UPS a very bad name. read more

I wish there were a "0" star option. The staff is great. BUT the store manager, Abe Ross, needs both operational training and a whole lot of manners... We were there to process an Amazon return a week ago. He said we needed a box to send the item back and tried to sell us one. Since I had the original box at home, I said I would be back with it. I went there today with everything all packed and ready. He scans the code and says, "the label is already printed at this store, so it can't be printed a second time." I said, well if you do see in your system that you already printed it and see that the package is in fact, not in your system, why don't you print a duplicate." Answer: "No my system doesn't work that way, cancel from the Amazon app" So I tried on the app, and Amazon doesn't have that option. I ask him what will be the solution, who should I contact? He says "you can complain to whomever you want, nothing I can do" -well, that escalated quickly-. So I say "you are the person I dealt with the last time, you printed the label, you are the one that told me to get a box, instead of canceling the label YOU printed out, you are the one that kept and trashed it improperly, so now I am the one that has to be out of 120 bucks? and you have no solutions for me?" (mind you I was cross, but not loud). He says "I'm gonna ask you to leave!" And on my way out, he mocked my accent... Oh well, may your life road be lined with people like you Abe Ross. read more

I can't say enough about how helpful Vincente and Jaeden were when I walked in at the end of the day with 19 boxes that needed to go out. They were calm, organized, and focused as they weighed the boxes and printed shipping labels. When the address on one of the boxes was incorrect they told us they would hold the it until the next day when we could determine the correct address. I really appreciated their help. Terrible. The employees do their best to ignore you when management is not around and dish out hate and bigotry when ignoring you is not an option. I now go elsewhere for my shipping needs (USPS Just down the street has long lines for a reason and is most always a pleasant experience). If you want to get your errands done pleasantly through your day, this is not the place for you. If you seek the opposite with stress, drama, hate, and whatever follows all of that, I highly recommend this establishment. There are probably no lines. read more

I'm an artist and have been shipping my work through here for over 10 years. Some of my art is oil and others have glass. Ive dropped off my work here and consistantly have rave reviews on how its packed. The staff here has always treated me as family and got my art to my customers intact. Thank you ups newton center. Very unhelpful. Called ahead and the junior employee couldn't keep from giggling on the phone - should have tipped me off. Mistakenly went there anyway and they were extremely unhelpful. Refused to honor a UPS coupon that was printed from the website for this specific store. Said 'just spoke to my manager who said we won't take it'. Asked why - no explanation. Asked to speak with the manager myself - told he's off today (but you supposedly were just speaking with him??). There are lots of other UPS options that do a better job. Will avoid this franchise in the future. read more

We used this shipper a week or so ago and were extremely pleased. We had a delivery of glassware that was only partially packed in three big boxes. They completed the packing and shipped all three boxes in one big box. Everything arrived in excellent shape, only one day later than originally anticipated. The cost of materials, packing, shipping and insurance was much less than we feared. The whole process was professional and easy, despite the Covid caused line out the door. I've been coming to this store for a little over a year now--the staff is great and the services are reasonably priced and executed with great care, but the way other customers treat the staff here is abominable. On more than one occasion while I've been at this location, I have witnessed customers berate and demean the employees rather than speak to them as someone who's doing the customer a service. The staff do not deserve to be treated this way, period, but even after being demeaned and spoken to rudely, they still work hard to make it right! Never have I walked into a business and tried to tell the employees there how to do their own job, let alone raise my voice at them; some people even act this way in front of their and other people's children, because kicking and screaming gets you your way, right? 1/2 star at best. CUSTOMERS: If you have an option, go to the UPS franchise on VFW Parkway or near Washington Street. Great service there that you will not find at this store. REVIEW: First, when I went into the store, the staff was just wrapping up a call. When the call was over, they openly mocked/complained about the caller in the store. Second, this is one of very few stores in a ~5 mile radius that questionably NICKLE AND DIMES its customers. (See below for recommended alternative locations). They want to charge a $1 here, $3 there, etc. for taping up boxes that other franchises have no problem sealing for free. When asked, INCONSISTENT stories and justifications are provided. Some employees say it is just to cover costs, and the money goes to support charity (a statement that in itself is contradictory). Other employees say it is "so the owner can make a profit." Worse, when you bring an Amazon package that says you can just drop it off and they will package it for you, the store may refuse to accept the item unless you buy a box or tape from them to meet their specifications - specifications I confirmed with UPS directly were bogus and made up by the store. If you want to join me in advocating for UPS not to renew their franchise license, contact UPS headquarters at https://www.theupsstore.com/support/email-us. Note to franchise owner: if your profit and operating margins are dependent on the incremental sales of inches of tape or asking people to print out codes that can be scanned from phones at any of your competing UPS franchises in the area, SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY FLAWED WITH YOUR BUSINESS MODEL. It all starts with a CUSTOMER-oriented attitude. When you lack that, you lose business. That is probably why you are having bigger profitability challenges. Folks, I tried to give them a chance to improve and pick up their quality of service. It has only declined. No wonder they have had to put up a sign in the store trying to preempt what clearly were many complaints they have received to date. These problems are exacerbated by inconsistent customer service attitudes. While one employee was relatively polite, another clearly just wanted to be combative and argue with customers in the store. That's what actually bothers me the most. The lack of any genuine interest in helping customers, much less a welcoming attitude. read more

We were shipping a high-value item from Newton, Ma to Chicago. We took our package to this UPS on a Wednesday evening and paid $190.00 for second-day air (the total bill with insurance, packing by UPS was $498.00). Our receipt shows delivery by Friday at 10:00 am; we discussed with UPS that since it was late on Wednesday, it potentially wouldn't arrive until Saturday. Well, the weekend came and went (it was a holiday weekend), and the item arrived on Tuesday. (FIVE full days later) It created a lot of stress on both ends. When I asked UPS to file a claim because UPS has a delivery guarantee, the store told us, "well, there was the holiday delay." We spent a great deal of money to avoid any "holiday delay." We never even discussed it with the store when we dropped off the item because we paid 190 for two-day shipping. The store insists that a conversation occurred regarding the holiday that never happened. UPS said the package didn't arrive at the UPS main building (7 miles away) until the next night (24 hours later) about 8 pm!! So, the store didn't handle the process of sending the package correctly. Nobody at this UPS store checked the box on the form for Saturday delivery. So, I have no recourse and paid 198. for five day delivery of a package. As a consumer, I had no clue that Saturday delivery is a special request and cost 15 dollars extra -- having paid 198. I would have gladly paid an additional 15. to ensure my delivery. According to this store, I made a mistake because I didn't buy the correct shipping service. I did everything I could possibly do to obtain the quickest delivery service. The item sat with them for 24 hours instead of being moved towards its destination. I wouldn't have written a review on this store if they'd have taken responsibility, but the stance that I didn't buy the correct service and that we 'discussed the holiday' is completely wrong. read more

I came here to drop off some Amazon packages using the new QR code system. When the QR codes didn't work, not only did Brianna try multiple times, but she also allowed me to leave me packages with her at the store to allow her to try again later on. She went above and beyond to be helpful, which was especially nice given that she was supporting the error of a third party vendor, not herself! read more

I was in a rush to get a job printed for an event I have tomorrow. Didn't know they printed at this UPS store. Was lucky enough to meet Lynne- the store manager. She was efficient, smart and got the job done for me in no time at all. I really appreciated her feedback as to what paper to use, how to format it. The price was also less than Staples.
