I attended Hyde Park on March 28,2026 for a birthday dinner. The reservation was booked as a birthday dinner. The dinner consisted of myself and seven other individuals. On a personal level, my food was fine, my service was good, and that was pretty much the narrative for the rest of the party. Before I get into the story, I almost did not book my dinner here because of how rude and condescending the woman was on the phone when I tried to book in the first place ( due to an issue with their website at that time). However, I booked later on at the Akron location because I frequently attended Hyde Park Akron in the past and was excited about the re-opening of the establishment. We all received our bills, which included an automatic 20% gratuity. Absolutely no problem with that. Once everyone gave their credit cards/payment, we received another receipt that had a different amount on it-which excluded the gratuity. It was not confusing to me, but I can see how some may have misinterpreted the receipt and how there may have been some confusion regarding which receipt to go by and if they already paid a tip. A guest in my party left a tip, however, it was not for the suggested amount on the original receipt. After we sat there and talked for several minutes, two men walk out to "confront" that individual on the amount of the tip that was left. He walked up to her immediately and did not introduce himself, he opened the payment wallet and showed her a receipt of the tip she left that he apparently crossed out with a pen. The person who did this name was Joe and he was accompanied by his manager Chris. During the conversation I heard him ask was the service ok and then proceeded to say "I see you only left ___ amount of dollars." Now this same individual had an issue with one of their food items as well as another item. They corrected that issue. They also said " well didn't we correct the issue with the potatoes and the crab cake." My guest looked at the receipt and said "it was a mistake. You gave us two different receipts, so I honestly was confused." She did change it to the suggested amount with no problem. Even though this was highly inappropriate, distasteful, absolutely disgusting, and rude she still adjusted it because leaving a lower tip was not her intent. I am mortified at how these individuals felt this was appropriate to embarrass a guest in this manner. There are several witnesses. Today, March 31, 2026, a manager by the name of Chris called me based off of an inquiry I sent online requesting to speak with management regarding a concern. He did apologize, but not right away. He attempted to justify their actions. Also made a statement "well servers get paid $5 an hour etc". Highly inappropriate. (Again, I am very much for tipping and appropriate gratuity, and I in no form or fashion agree with poor tipping or not tipping at all.) Also, I asked him multiple times was he the manager that confronted my guest and he repeatedly said that he doesn't really remember. However, it was him and I know the restaurant has ways of pulling up previous reservations and knowing which staffed worked certain tables. The conversation between Chris and I was overall a calm interaction. However, I feel there was no resolve. He also asked me what I wanted him to do to fix it? You are the manager, what do you typically do when a customer calls you about poor service? I also mentioned to him that I was not given my complimentary dessert for my birthday and staff had to be reminded. Most of my party went home by the time I received it. Honestly, that part did not bother me much, but it added insult to injury. He promised a gift card for a "free dessert" to make up for how he treated my guest. Also, I requested that he call her to hear her side. His response was " does she want to lower her tip? Is that the issue" I said the tipping was never an issue, it was the approach. Never in my life have I experienced something so unprofessional and awful at a fine dining establishment. Then to lie about not working at our table that not further lets me know that you were really just calling me because it was your job to and not because you cared. Also, we received nothing that we were promised. I am pretty certain that I will NEVER EVER support this establishment again. read more

Upon entering the newly renovated Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse, it was evident that a lot of time, love and dedication has been poured into this location. We arrived a few minutes early for our reservation and were greeted with warm smiles and friendly faces. After a very short wait we were escorted to an intimate table just off the main bar area. It was perfect for us. A party of 2 that wanted some quiet time but also enjoy the dance a restaurant offers during busy service times. We were quickly greeted and offered a choice of water services and pre-dinner cocktail options. Our servers Joseph and Amalia were phenomenal! Dylan, one of the freshly minted managers was well on his game, leaving his business card and easy conversation after a brief visit to our table. Our selections were discussed with great enthusiasm, and knowledge with our servers and we settled on the colossal shrimp cocktail (always an amazing choice), the Ceasar Salad (life is not complete until have tried the in house croutons), the French Onion Soup ( I am definitely a fan), Steaks (perfectly cooked and well seasoned) topped with their Bearnaise Sauce; it just completed melt in your mouth experience! Just when we thought it could not get anymore outstanding, Joseph recommended the Buttercake with Banana's Foster, I mean, the drama! Tableside flambé, and the flavors were spot on! Beautiful fine dining in Crocker Park. Our family went for my son's birthday. The hostess is so warm and welcoming. We were seated at a beautiful booth and were treated like royalty. The servers and manager, John B. could not have been more accommodating. Our food ranged from delicious chicken tenders and fruit and fries for the girls, to steaks and salmon for the adult entrees. Our food was presented beautifully and cooked to perfection. The bacony brussel sprouts were delicious:) The girls enjoyed their chocolate sundaes and the birthday boy was served luscious chocolate cake for dessert. We left happy and full! Another spectacular dinner at Hyde Park. This is why this place rocks. My wife ordered the porterhouse and forgot to say no seasoning when she took a bite it was to salty for her taste. The manager Brad was exceptionally accommodating her and had the steak redone to perfection. We asked for Holly and Dion to be our servers and again they always go over the top to make sure you have the best experience. I wish we had this type of dinning experience every were we ate. To top off our meal I ordered the apple pie a la mode. Absolutely the best apple pie ever. Shrimp cocktail (so expensive, but damn they're good!), crab cakes, and calamari. The last app, rings served with a Thai sweet hot chili sauce, was a new HP app to me - I would recommend (and the shrimp). My main was Steak a la Lobster, a fillet topped with lobster and bernaise sauce, served with asparagus and mushroom caps. I chose the smaller of the two filet option at 7oz, but it was still a nice size, tender and pink throughout. Good lobster presence. Delicious sauce. Went for Mother's Day Brunch today with my family of four. Ambiance, decor and staff were wonderful, but the food was completely hit or miss. My daughter and I had the omelettes---veggie and farmers. Both were dry and overcooked. My husband thought they were both burnt, but I think they were both just overly cooked. The menu said hash browns with the omelettes, but we received dark brown, fried potatoes instead. My daughter said, " This must be rich people's idea of hash browns". Maybe she was right? But they still were still weren't good! My husband and son both got the filet and chopped sirloin which they thoroughly enjoyed. So, all in all I think my husband and my son got their money's worth. Yet, my daughter and I were left hungry wanting something that actually tasted good, especially for $23.00 for an omelette, salad and potatoes. We may be back for a different meal sometime, but we will not be back for Mother's Day Brunch. I really do love the attentive and knowledgeable staff, as well as the beauty and aura of this restaurant, but they should have quality food for all occasions, including Mother's Day. read more

Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse was the next stop on my quest to find the best burger from a non-burger specific restaurant in the area. I called and placed an order for their 9oz Bacon Gruyere Dry Aged Burger. The person taking my order asked me if I would like dessert as well and told me about some of their delicious sounding options. I went ahead and ordered the Apple Pie à la Mode. The sandwich was one of the larger ones I have tried on this quest and was indubitably really good. The dry-aged beef was very tender as one would expect and had a great flavor. It was a traditional style burger with just the right amount of bacon, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions on a sesame seed bun. There was no special sauce and it would have been nice if they asked me if I wanted any condiments. Fortunately I was headed home and had my own condiments to add. I really like boardwalk style fries and Hyde Park's were as good as anywhere. The portion size of the fries was a little less than other places have been but they were definitely good. I somehow found a little room left to consume most of the gigantic Apple Pie à la Mode after eating this large burger. It was the size of a small pot pie which is overly large for a serving of dessert pie. It would definitely be large enough to share with another person after a meal. I was told that all of the desserts are made in house and it was indeed excellent; probably one of the better apple pies I have ever had. The ice cream and caramel sauce that topped it only added to its greatness. So overall it was an enjoyable meal with an even more enjoyable dessert. I would definitely order a burger to-go again from here and based on how good they were I look forward to dining on a fancier meal sometime at the restaurant. read more

Yesterday we decided to splurge and have our Sunday evening fun at Hyde Park. We had been at Hyde Park in Beachwood Ohio some time ago and were very impressed. Last night we ordered a 36 day aged 28oz bone in ribeye. And a 8oz Miyazaki Wagyu Filet. Both steaks were disappointments to say the least. We are both considered food connoisseurs and have had Wagyu meat before. This was tough and flavorless. One of the lady's ordered the special for $28.00 vs. our $61 and her flavor and tenderness was much better. Bottom line if your looking to splurge on a great steak, this is not the place. I ate in the bar/lounge area and the service was great! One of the bartenders served me and she was very attentive even while attending to the bar. As an appetizer, I ordered the cheeseburger sliders ($5.50 during happy hour at the bar). They were quite flavorful and they made me want to come back for a full sized burger! They also came with some freshly cut fries that looked burnt, but were actually cooked perfectly. For my entree, I ordered a 7 ounce filet ($37) cooked medium. It was tiny...it surely didn't look like it was 7 ounces, but I don't carry a scale with me, so who knows. It was cooked perfectly (seems to be hard for most places). It was really crunchy on the outside but still medium. It was covered in a light creme sauce that was delicious. I also ordered a peppercorn sauce which came on the side. Thank goodness it did because it wasn't good at all. It was loaded with capers which overpowered every other flavor in the sauce. The dish came with a free side of onion straws. For dessert, I ordered creme brûlée ($7). It was horrible. The texture was all wrong. It was grainy instead of creamy. Also, the sugar coating on top was over canalized and was burnt. Definitely don't recommend. I rated this 4 stars because the steak was cooked very well (even though it was small). Since this is a steakhouse, I feel like that should carry the most weight. My peeps ask me why I go back to the same restaurant each time I travel to Akron/Richfield. My reply is to show them the pic on my phone of the lobster mac n cheese. It's 'to die for' food. It's that 'i'm breaking my diet' for food. It's that 'ok, skip breakfast, lunch and this is what i'm spending all my calories' on food. I feel so guilty eating here without my husband that I'll order extra so that I can take it home and share with him. It heats up marvelously and tastes just as good. (well almost...) It surprises me that more people don't take advantage of their bar menu, but I'm personally, selfishly happy because I've never not been able to find a seat in the bar. The steaks are melt-in-your-mouth perfectly cooked. If you love fried onions, the onion straws that complement the burgers and steaks are perfectly cooked. It is so hard to not eat all of them so that i have a few left to take home. 'Yeah, honey, sorry, they didn't give me very many this time..." Blame it on the serving size... This is great place. Part of my Cleveland NCAA experience. This Akron location is one of about 6 locations they have in Cleveland, Columbus, Pittsburgh, and Daytona Beach. It is attached to the Holiday Inn Express. For those of you who know this small chain, they consistently provide a good product in a great steakhouse environment. This one is no different. We decided to share each course and side; and they were good about that. They split each course for us in the kitchen as we requested and garnished each one. They had no problem doing any of this. With wine our bill was $115 for two. If you are in the area, this is a great choice. If you stay at the hotel you can get a 20% off your entire tab (spirits included) for Hyde Park. read more

I was looking forward to eating at this place. Started with the calamari was disappointed it was very rubbery and the spice it came with was just ok. The bread they severed was very good, but the butter had a string of pepper and salt. It was just not good. Had the asparagus it was hard with a crunch, not very good, I have had much better that would melt in your mouth. Also had a steak which is what they are know for, it was cooked as ordered and was very good but the butter they brush on top of the steak again had a salty flavor. Tried the gratin potatoes, the potatoes were somewhat hard, with the gruyere cheese it was just to rich for my taste. When I was first seated it was nice and quite at a bar table. Half way thru the meal they sat a family with young kids next to use, the kids were loud and the parents just didn't care, they seemed to think they owned the place. This is not a place to bring small kids especially if I am spending over $125 for a meal for 2. Major disappointment, I will not be back. read more

I was staying at the adjoining Holiday Inn and found out about the 20% discount coupon for the Hyde Park Grille so it seemed a no-brainer to go to this place, especially after seeing the favorable Yelp reviews. Living in Chicago, I am pretty particular about steakhouses but I was cautiously optimistic. The restaurant is very upscale and seems out of place next to the somewhat rundown Holiday Inn. My son and I were seated in the bar area. We had a pleasant server and our service was generally good. Even though this is a steakhouse, we both ordered seafood. Maybe this was a mistake. My son had the sauteed shrimp and scallops and the scallops were overcooked. I had the Chilean sea bass. It was also overcooked, and it didn't quite have the proper texture of this type of fish. This I attributed to being well-done but when our bill arrived, the fish that was listed on the bill was halibut. Hmmm. In retrospect, the fish tasted somewhat halibut-like and when I questioned the waitress about this, she investigated and returned to tell me that the bill was a mistake, it really was sea bass. I'm not so sure about that and my Yelp rating reflects that. Anyhow, the highlight of the meal was my glass of Cameron Hughes 2009 Lot #279 Cabernet Sauvignon. Delicious. The selection of cuts range from New York strips all the way to select Wagyu beef. I personally go for the 36-Day Dry aged Ribeye or the 50-Day if available. The service is on par with most fine dinning experiences. In my experience the staff have always been more than knowledgeable and pleasant. The location is funky, smack dap next to a Holiday Inn. Only thing that's ever ruined my experience here are other people. As this adjoins the Holiday Inn I was at, and, it had been a long week already, decided to just go here for dinner in the bar area... saw signs in the HI elevator about HH specials in the bar area. They did have quite a few specials, I just opted for the drink specials... but alas, when I received my bill, the Cosmos were charged at a full (2X) the HH price. Had the wedge salad which was good, and the small filet. The filet was good, not great. For $34 I thought there would have been more flavor. I loved the bar area & atmosphere in there. I'll come back, but probably stick strictly to the HH menu for both drinks and food. read more

Three dishes came out at once but we had to wait a fair amount of time for the fourth entree. That was awkward. I went to dinner with my parents on Saturday night at Hyde park and we chose to sit in the bar because the restaurant was very full. The bartender Nick was very accommodating and makes great drinks. We have had him wait on us in the past. However, we were very disappointed on Saturday night at how long it took for our meals to be served and the lack of attentiveness to the fact that we waited 50 minutes for our food to arrive. When it did, my mothers food was cold and we had to say something to the manager about the lack of initiative on the staff part to let us know that the kitchen staff did not seem to handle the amount of people in the restaurant. When my stepmother and I left the bar to use the restroom it was very dirty as if it hadn't been properly cleaned in quite a while and two of the stalls had no toilet paper. Also, there was no valet to do the parking that night and my parents are much older and it would have been nice for them to have that accommodation. We have always held at Hyde Park in high regard but it seems that the lack of staffing and attention to detail has become a problem for them. It's unfortunate as the setting is beautiful and we've had good experiences there in the past. We will be exploring other steak houses in our area until we hear differently that Hyde Park takes their service to their clients seriously. read more

Exceptional dining experience once I asked to be moved away from what it seemed to be the storage closet area. There was absolutely no one in the restaurant and I was faced staring into a dark hallway. After being moved actually into the center of the dining area everything was spectacular. Came here on Valentines Day in the evening with a friend of mine. The bartender that assisted us with drinks and our appetizers was extremely rude and disrespectful.
