Came here late one night and it was an hour before closing and we were turned away at the door. We came back the next night with 30 mins to last call and that's where the photos from this post came from. Our server was fantastic and that's the main reason for the review. The best way I would describe this restaurant is like an Applebees with Keno. I say that because it feels like one, but they have a constant stream of Keno on a TV which you can buy tickets for here. The food was good, about the same quality of boneless that you would find at Applebees, but they did have a good selection of sauces for the wings. Plus $0.60 wings are a deal too good to pass up. The staff were friendly and we didn't wait long for our food. Not sure how the other food is, but my coworkers didn't have any complaints on their meals. I have eaten here several times. It's one of my favorites. They have a big menu and as a result, they a wide selection to choose from. See the different photos I posted of some of the different menu items I have ordered here. Great customer service and friendly staff as well as delicious food is what you will find here. Great big parking lot too I might add. So, you will find plenty of parking here. They also have free popcorn as you walk in too. So grab some of that before they seat you at a table or booth. I have gotten their wings here and they were great. You can get two different sauces like I did. I have also gotten their t bone steak special which is usually on the weekends. It was delicious. This spot was recommended to me as I checked in to a near by hotel. Monday Night Football and Baseball playoffs made for a bar atmosphere to be the right one tonight. I drive over to find a crowded parking lot. No worries as I was still seated at a table immediately. Mondays and Tuesdays had both boneless wings and small pizzas on special. I started with a small order of their skinny dips. These are basically skinless chicken chunks with dipping sauce. They were good but left plenty of belly room for a small pizza. By far the pizza was the winner tonight. Soft, thin crust with quality toppings. Even another patron walking out raved about the pizza. What's a bar without a drink? This place featured numerous beers and whiskeys. One well-nursed drink, wings and a small pizza later and the second quarter of a good game was just starting. I ended up with another long-pour whiskey and a 5-piece order of the boneless. I preferred the boneless over the skinny but still not bragging about them. Sauce was very minimal and you need to remember to order the ranch ahead of time. In all the food was good (pizza rocks!) and the whiskey menu was right up my alley. Plenty of televisions to watch the games. It was not loud by any means which I liked. Most noise I heard was the satellite radio in the background. I hope to be back some day. read more

On this visit, we were promptly seated and we ordered drinks and an appetizer. Our server was slow, but friendly. We ordered spinach artichoke dip as an appetizer and it was hot and delicious. For dinner, my mother and I ordered chicken salads, my son ordered a plain cheeseburger, and my wife ordered chicken wings. My salad was very tasty and it had fresh ingredients. I like to add ranch dressing a buffalo sauce for a little heat. My wife gave me two of her wings and they were very good. My son didn't finish his hamburger, so I stole a piece of the meat. The flavor was smoky and traditional, but it didn't find it particularly appetizing. I've definitely tasted better burger meat. They have a large selection of beer on tap and free popcorn. Had fun here! We needed someplace to go for a later dinner and had some really good apps and burgers. There were three of us so we shared two apps and each ordered our own burger. The portions are large here so we ended up being home a little food. The staff was very nice and friendly. Our server was super attentive and checked on us frequently. Liked the hot pretzel sticks. The spinach and artichoke dip was good, but would have liked a different tortilla chip with that dip. I ordered the blue shroom burger. Loved the taste of it! Very unique and cooked perfectly. Atmosphere: I always liked the winking lizard. I would compare it to Applebees but with way better food. As you walk in, you are always greeted with the smell of popcorn and a friendly "hello". We were seated by one woman and then told our server would be coming shortly. I think she said something about a training program or something like that? Like the servers were in training or something. Not sure. Either way, our server was very nice. We both ordered waters and a shot of the month. Which I forget what it was called but it was fruity and went down easy. Reminded me of like a buzz ball you can find at the gas station (I'm not knocking it, I love buzz balls). Food: My wife had never tried gold finger wings which in my opinion, EVERYONE should have at winking lizard. You can't find that sauce anywhere else. So we ordered a couple appetizers of the the boneless goldfinger (she refused to get traditional) and the Mac and cheese bites. The Mac and cheese bites are always soooo good here and my wife thoroughly enjoyed every last bite of her goldfinger winger. We then ordered our entrees which for me, meant mild Buffalo wings and coleslaw and my wife got the bomans burger. Our food came and we had started taking a couple bites. Unfortunately my wife out of nowhere started feeling very I'll. She went to the car while I settled the check and got boxed. This is no reflection of the food whatsoever. It is now 3 days later and she's still sick with a summer flu. But we did end up eating our wings and burger leftover that night once she took a nap. Both were delicious. OMG the service was so painful. I'm so sad to be writing this review. We had two kids meals, two burgers and 10 wings... it took over 30 minutes for our food to come out (and that is only counting definite time... I'm pretty sure it was closer to 45) The evening started out promising, walked in and grabbed our popcorn.. no one was waiting... until it took 5 minutes for someone to acknowledge we were standing there... oh and she saw us. So we sat down.. and our waiter.. might have been the slowest waiter in the history of ever.. we painfully watched him set up a table in front of us with 6 paper placemats only.. it took him forever like a good 5 minutes.. PAPER PLACEMATS Our food came out lukewarm because, quite frankly.. he was busy setting placemats and forgot about us. We usually love the wings.. and I love a good crunchy wing.. these were so tiny and leather like, barely any meat on them... at over a dollar a wing. The burgers were good. The fries were good, but they definitely need to change their oil, super dark and a bit oily. I think after our order was taken, food was brought out he didn't come back to our table until we made eye contact and waved him over. He brought the check and again, I had to call him over to take it. We were here way over 90 minutes for something that should have taken less than 45. I was definitely at a 3 star review... until as we were leaving a waitress pushed right past us as we were walking through a doorway... like we were IN the doorway and she couldn't wait the 1 second for our foot to finish through it. I also watched a woman next to us wait a good 5-8 minutes for her ranch to come. I also specifically asked if the buffalo burger was included on burger night.. he said YES only the 3 listed as excluded.... guess what, we ended up being charged $10 not $7... and for $3 we couldn't wait there any long to fight that, not worth it. There is so many stories that I watched unfold as we waited if poor service, but I think I summed it up pretty well for you. Decided to take my friend out to eat to show thanks for helping me since I have no car. I didn't have high expectations for it but my friend ate at a Winking Lizard at some point in her childhood so she really wanted to go. Upon arrival the lady behind the counter was super unenthusiastic which I can't really blame after seeing the type of people that eat there, and she's probably underpaid. After about a 15 minute wait or so, we finally get seated and are eventually greeted by our waitress. Thought she was going to be nice at first being as she was a quiet older woman, but she was devoid of any personality but again to give the benefit of the doubt, she's probably one those people that have been at their job for so long that they just hate it. Onto the food and drink...bad start because every time I order somewhere with exclusively fountain drinks, I ask for no ice...and the drink came with ice. no big deal, waited for her to come back and she fixed it. When we got our food, it was lukewarm as if the food had just sat in the window for a long time. The sauce on my wings had been sitting there for so long that it soaked into the breading of the wings and made it less than desirable. The "Garlic" sauce was underwhelming and the "Fire in the Hole" sauce was nothing but spice. My friend's food was also less than mediocre with a described "could be better" burger featuring a soggy bottom bun and hard top bun. The margarita my friend ordered was also very lackluster apparently. Lastly to nitpick, I got charged for a like 2oz cup of ranch even though the menu says my meal came with one. They have an outside patio where you can eat and an indoor bar as well. A pretty generic American sports bar look and feel as well. They have a really big selection of draft beers which is awesome if you like beer. What I do like about this place is the variety of food here. They got wings, they got burgers, they got sandwiches, they got appetizers, nachos, salads, basically anything you can think of. It happened to be 50 cent wing night when I went so I ordered a plate of wings, garlic flavor which wasn't that hot on their hot scale. So I've been here a total of 5 times... I'm lucky that one of these isn't open near me because I'd be in here every Monday and Tuesday (their wing special days). When I originally went looking for food my first time in Akron I had a hankerin' for some wings and this place came up. I never looked back and I'm glad I didn't. I will now tell you why. Atmosphere/Appearance: Right off of the main strip, but just a bit ducked into the plaza is this gem. There's a hefty private parking lot which does fill up fast, but don't be alarmed. The restaurant has 3 sections so there's plenty of room. Once in the front door you're greeted buy a popcorn machine (another one of my weaknesses, the popcorn, not the machine). You can scoop some up while you wait or take it to your seat. Totally free. If you walk straight back and make a left you enter the normal bar. If you make a right after walking back you enter the dining room right pass the giant pet iguana the restaurant keeps around, but... if you go to the right of the host station you enter a place called "Lizardville". I've eaten in all 3 sections of the restaurant, but Lizardville operates independently, but I'm including it in this review because the menu is the same, the kitchen is the same and the prices are the same. It also doesn't cost anything extra to get in there. It's also how you get to sit outside on the patio. If I can remember correctly, Lizardville offers 300 or so different whiskeys and 500 beers? I can't remember the exact number, but they're ridiculous enough to be highly impressive. I mean the beer and whiskey list is as thick as a dictionary that William Shakespeare would have written. This side of the establishment is a like a dedicated space for another bar with the whiskeys displayed behind the counter and the beers lined up in coolers as well as setup like a grocery store on shelves. Service: I remember Jen my first time around and she was super helpful. She seemed a bit exhausted, given it was 8:15pm, but she still took great care of me. Over on the Lizardville side the service was just as good. I've never had any issues whatsoever and the staff is really helpful. Food: Fantastic. I'm a straight up SUCKER for a good wing deal. Throughout my 5 visits I've tasted the Goldfinger (a sweet & tangy sauce made from a blend of mustard, cayenne peppers & apple cider vinegar), Thai (an oriental hot chili sauce mixed with honey & garlic), Garlic (a spicy hot sauce with a buttery garlic flavor), Spicy Sesame (a blend of oriental hot chili sauce, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, garlic & toasted sesame seeds), Green Sriracha (fire roasted poblano and jalapeño peppers with zesty lime, tomatillos, vinegar, cilantro, garlic, sugar, and a pinch of cumin), Spicy Garlic (Garlic wing sauce with their 911 sauce), Spicy BBQ (their BBQ sauce with Cajun seasoning, cayenne pepper & bird seed), 911 (the 3rd hottest sauce they offer) and Cajun. Goldfinger and Green Sriracha were my favorites, but you can't go wrong with any of them. They were just "different" from your traditional wing sauces. You feel me? During one of my visits I opted for a Green Salad with grilled chicken so I could feel just a bit healthier. Lol. The food here is great, even though I've pretty much only had their wings... but I mean, it's what they're known for so why get anything else? Value: On Mondays and Tuesdays after 3:00pm wings are only $0.60 each. It's up 5 cents from 2016, but you know, inflation. Anyway, 60 cents is damn good for chicken wings not only for 1 night, but 2! You have to order them in denominations of 5 or more with a minimum of 5 per flavor. Sounds fine to me! They're totally worth it. In conclusion, I love, love, love this place. Anytime I'm in Akron, I will be paying this place a visit. Easily one of my favorite places to eat. read more

Staff was very nice and food was ok. We were seated and told our waiter was taking care of a party. Someone else took our order. Never saw that person again. Asked for nachos without onions and pizza with green pepper, mushrooms and tomato. Got the nachos without issue. Pizza was delivered. Still hadn't seen out waiter. Once we started in to the pizza we realized there were no green peppers but there were onions! No waiter in sight as apparently the party was still raging. We looked around for someone but found no one to assist so we just started picking onions off the pizza. No one ever came back to the table to check on drinks or how everything was going. We usually dine at the Bedford Hts location where the staff are very knowledgeable about the beer for six people she gave us one beer menu. We asked for another she never brought it. 2/3 of us arrived on a drizzling evening during COVID in hopes of sitting on their empty patio under a covering. We told the hostess that the rain had just stopped and our party felt more comfortable outdoors. She told us there wasn't a server out there and 'plus, the patio's just unavailable.' We went outside and called around to other restaurants and all Fairlawn patios seemed to be closed even though the rain had stopped and the forecast looked clear. Planning to leave, we noticed an empty table in the bar near an open garage door. We went back in and requested it. We were told it was being saved for people ahead of us in line and we'd have a 1 hr 30 min wait. No one was in the lobby but us. Frustrated, we went back outside and waited for our 3rd friend. When she arrived and we told her we'd have to find somewhere else to go, she said 'what about Lizardville?' Not knowing 'the other side' of the restaurant had a patio, we wandered that way to find several full tables on that patio and several empty!! We want back in to the lobby a 3rd time and requested seating on the Lizardville patio and the hostess smiled and said 'right this way'. What??? I don't know if they're owned separately or if this is just a game the hostess wanted to play but it was rude & so odd to not offer this option the first time we were in. Once seated there, our service was great. Food was tasty and the bartender was knowledgeable and so friendly. He didn't mind that we stayed to chat until closing and we promptly left at 10 as not to delay. I really like this Lizard/Lizardville. I do not know if it's my imagination but people seem a bit more friendly Akron than The CLE. But anyhow this is places in one. The major differences are many cans and or bottles to choose from, no domestic draft beers, less tvs, and no nose pickers in the Lizardville. Seems like every Lizardville I have been to has a super beer snob bar keep that likes to beer shame us cheap beer lovers. I mean man it's all just beer, can't we all just get along? Same menu for both. This place has been really packed on both sides. On a recent visit I had a spicy wing off with my counterpart, 911, magma, and fire in the hole. 911 is the least while fire in the hole is most spicy. 911 is excellent with a nice kick. Magma starts out slow but builds. Fire in hole the starts off hot and keeps going, Pretty efn spicy, my lips were burning. My ginger fiery friend could not do the fire in the hole for a second chicken nugget (boneless wings, don't get me started on how the evil empire made chicken nuggets acceptable for adults)even with a rip and dip technique. Then next day my mouth felt a little burnt and I found out why this is called Fire in the hole. They should specify that particular freaking hole on the fecking menu. read more

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly ... a tale of a hungry law student. The Good (Food) Winking Lizard is probably one of my favorite places for good "bar" food. I put bar food in quotes, because there is so much that the menu has to offer. Wraps, burgers, ribs, salads, pickles, fried mac and cheese ... and best of all, chicken wings. Oh, and over 300 beers to choose from. I am a HUGE fan of their boneless wings. You want to talk about the perfect boneless wing, Winking Lizard has them. They have an extensive list of sauces to choose from, but my favorite is the garlic with a side of spicy garlic. Though I like the spicy garlic, it is sometimes too much, so the regular garlic wings helps cool things down. Their beer. My boyfriend is doing the tour of beers, and it's basically you have to drink 100 different beers in a year. Since I don't drink that often, I am not doing the tour, however, my boyfriend and a few of his friends are doing it. You may think, "how will I drink 100 DIFFERENT beers in a year" -- did you read above that they have OVER 300 BEERS TO CHOOSE FROM! And the list keeps rotating, so there is always new to try. If you like beer, then highly recommend the tour. My favorite drink has to be the sex on the beach. Its a girly drink, but it is the best sex on the beach I have ever had. I have NEVER had a meal I did not like -- the food here is delicious and you cannot go wrong. The Good (Atmosphere) The servers, especially ours during this visit, are really nice. We have come with some bigger parties as well, and they are super nice about getting us a table big enough to fit our party, and making sure that we have everything we need. I have never had an issue anything. The Bad To be honest, the bad only happened during this trip when we came in-between lunch and dinner hours, and the server had to switch, but the new server didn't want to serve us because (she assumed) we would not give her the tip. So the plan was to stay there a little longer for happy hour, have some drinks, but instead, we were basically kicked out because the new server didn't want to clean the table (that was basically clean). The Ugly Nothing really -- besides our last trip, everything was wonderful. In a nutshell, if you're looking for good food, a great beer list, and a place where you don't have to deal with underage kids, this is the place to be. Great food. Decent prices.
