Hyde park is an excellent place to come for a special occasion. We came for our 25th wedding anniversary and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Everything was fantastic. From the homemade croutons on the Caesar salad (only picture I forgot to take) to the creamy salted caramel cheesecake. Hands down the BEST meal we have ever had! This visit did not receive 5 stars for a few reasons. The main reason was the restroom had a pungent sewerage smell. I informed the manager and he said he would check on it. An hour and a half later, I asked the host if the smell was fixed and he told me he would check; he never came back to update me. I had to ask our waitress who said this happened often. After 2 hours, I went in there and in addition to the smell, it was not clean. The drinks were good, I loved the crab cake and corn. The lobster bisque needed more lobster. read more

I was in Detroit for work from SC and loving bf out of a hotel. I didn't want to sit inside so I ordered online for pick up. I had a filet with béarnaise sauce and crispy onions, creamed corn, brussel sprouts. The steaks wasn't very seasoned to me and definitely needed the béarnaise sauce - too bad they forgot it in my bag! (That was an add-on and i was charged for it by the way). The creamed corn was okay. Nothing special or that I would order again. The brussel sprouts were alright. Nothing wowed at all. I did appreciate that the restaurant had the walkways covered and warm. It had snowed the day before so that was nice. Ambiance was dark-ish lighting and relaxed. I love this restaurant. We went because we heard their steaks were Halal and the food exceeded our expectations. We absolutely devoured our steaks. The asparagus, Brussel sprouts and fries were all delicious. Our waitress was so kind and funny. She was very accommodating and was on top of everything. Monday evening 7pm, it was quite busy but it died down quickly by 8pm. Anyway, this place has great atmosphere and interior lighting to match with price tags on the menu. The server was very polite and professional. Great! The steak, it came out as ordered - rare. However, it was such a disappointment paying $61 for a steak and the quality was just not matching the price tag. This was our first time here so my review is based on us being a "newbie" to the restaurant. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. I got the Steak Sanders - filet with a few sauces with asparagus and lobster on top. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I did order the baked potato side. My only "complaint" (and it's not a huge deal) is that I wish I could order a 6 oz filet as the smallest they offer is 8oz. I am happy to report that Hyde Park is still doing the early nights menu. The price has gone up by a few dollars, but it's still a good value. I chose the Hyde Park Wedge, and the Surf & Turf, for $52.95. I really liked the salad. The lettuce was perfectly crisp and I loved the toppings, especially the type of blue cheese they use. The Surf & Turf consisted of a 6 ounce filet and a 4 ounce lobster tail. Both the steak and the lobster were cooked perfectly, and I would definitely order this again. This was the worst dining experience we've had in quite a while. The hostesses were courteous and pleasant, but the two waitresses for our table were unpleasant. The main server appeared indifferent and apathetic, and the short assistant server was impatient and arrogant. She actually behaved like we should be grateful we were allowed in the place - like we were uninvited guests at a private party. She spoke in such a clipped manner, we barely understood anything she said. Initially, we thought maybe it was because we arrived near the end of the evening, but we were seated before 7 PM. Moreover, the service was extremely slow, and the food was not good. Mediocre at best. How does a steakhouse ruin a simple baked potato, twice (the assistant server advised that the first one was not served)?! We decided to never return but paid the customary 20% tip anyway. This "high-end" restaurant is both overrated and pretentious. At this establishment, it seems "reputation" is more important than service and value. read more

Starting off the ambiance was great. We were seated near the wine cellars and they had made a birthday card for my sister. The lobster bisque was a little salty but not bad. The bread was good but the butter was too salty. The appetizers -the calamari I was not impressed. And the duroc bacon : it was pretty good. Both appetizers were sweet tasting so it felt like too much sweet food going on . My main course was okay . I didn't know it came with crispy onions . My steak tasted pretty dry for medium well. But I will say that the server told me about butterflying the steak which I declined to do hence why it turned out dryer. The server provided great service. Just not my favorite steakhouse. I went to a steakhouse in Toronto called blue blood (located in casa loma) over the summer. If you can make that drive , do it if you're a steak enthusiast. 3.5 star for this place read more

Too many crispy onions but the meal was excellent, The wife ordered the PETITE TWIN FILET MIGNON 3OZ EACH with Roasted garlic whipped potatoes, béarnaise sauce and crispy onion straws. It seems the bearnaise sauce does not go with steak. She ordered the zip sauce which was too watered down. Her steak lacked seasoning as well. The onion soup was very good but too many croutons in it We spilt the flaming butter cake which was just "OK". Service was great by Jessica. Been here several times can't say it's that good. Ordered the Goff prime rib medium cooked. It was charred to the point a couple bites was like eating charcoal. The cut I was served was a bullshit piece that should be cut up into steak bites or something. The cut had zero marbling and was like a wedge and very grainy not tender and juicy from the marbling. We ordered an 8 ounce fillet a 12 ounce fillet and I believe in New York strip all the steaks come with a handful of battered onion strips not an impressive visual. Our sides were the au gratin potatoes, spinach and garlic, and the wedge salad. The potatoes weren't bad. The spinach was bland with thick chunks of almost raw garlic thrown in. I advised the waiter I did not care for it and his response was "oh" so the spinach there on the table practically untouched until they cleared the rust of our dinners. I tried my friends wedge salad, which looked like it had been through a wood chipper. It tasted like a bagged salad purchased at Aldi's with all the accoutrements contained within the bag. I just left from a dinner here and the service was initially impressive with a nice greeting and comforting ambiance. As I was on a date with my fiancée, a guest seated next to us upromptedly turns to ask if we were lesbians and continues to ask sexual questions like whether he could join us in a threesome. We are both very young women so instead of engaging with him, I alerted the host who alerted her boss, a gentleman named Sean. Sean never engaged with my fiancée and I, neither to ask if we were comfortable nor to change our seats. I eventually called his attention and asked if the server had informed him of my request for help to which he replied "what do you want me to do, make a scene?" I for one was offended because "causing a scene" was never my intention and a simple seat change would've sufficed had we ever been acknowledged in the first place. The same guest continues to berate both my party and others with crude comments about people's choice of clothing and sex lives, engaging in shouting conversations with guests standing over my partner and I, without any intervention. Sean tells me "there's nothing he can do". Once I propose leaving he offers to change my table miraculously... Instead of pleading my humanity with Sean I requested that we be brought the bill and speak to our waiter so that we could alert him that he was not the reason for our departure, and to give him his tip. Sean did not do this either. Overall, the ambiance was elevated but comfortable with a solid variety of food. Yep, we were back to dine again. Ribeyes, Filet, and Salmon. All were delicious, however, one Ribeye could have probable not been served as it came with a significant amount of waist but still a stellar product! Filet melted in my mouth a perfect med-rare! Still on the fence as to whether this is choice cuts,however, seasoning and cook are spot on. The Filet, a generous cut melted in your mouth. I will not remove stars here because we all have different preferences: the zip sauce and Bearnaise are not my fav. The Zip is more like a brown gravy. Their Béarnaise somewhat tart for me. The au gratin potatoes could have cooked longer but the cheese sauce was very nice. Brussels sprouts were cooked to perfection and very good! Spinach au gratin did not disappoint.Thick and creamy with a nice crunchy melted cheese topping. The corn, oh my amazing. Sweet off the cob crisp flavors!!! The flourless chocolate cake and bourbon pecan pie (special) were delish. Birthday deconstructed s'mores were good. Staff was attentive and professional. Call me a snob but I have exceptionally high standards for prime steakhouses traveling for work and living in CA, a hotbed for top restaurants and service. I was DELIGHTED with the food, service, ambience, all of it. Deep wine list, lots of great CA offerings, fantastic cut of meat cooked exactly to my specification. Perfect sauté on the spinach and mushrooms accoutrement with just the right amount of EVOO and garlic. And the espresso martini truly lived up to the name "best espresso martini". Traveling solo, I sat at the bar and was served by Stephanie. She was just delightful, especially attentive and a pleasure. The couple next to me enjoyed a burger and said anytime they are in MI will make the effort to come here because it's just top notch. Wine was great. Lobster was great. Gratin potatoes were great. Steak was over cooked. They brought me another one that was undercooked. Very under cooked. So brought a third that was as dry and over cooked as the first one & charred on the outside. Very disappointing. Lobster Mac n cheese was not good. It had a different flavor than the regular lobster and the lobster was minced which was weird. So they took the steak off my bill since I didn't eat it. Our evening was to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. (Late) actually was in May, but better late then never. Our food was very good. I had the 6oz. Filet mignon, cooked to order and my hubby had the Casey steak, he enjoyed very much also cooked perfectly. I will recommend the double chopped salad, perfect to share. My Brussel sprouts with bacon marmalade were a bit extra charred but tasty non the less. Hubby recommends the garlic mashed potatoes he said, whipped to perfection! Seabass looks good. The entry is covered with a black awning entrance to protect you from the elements. Jameson is waiting on us tonight. We sat in the bar area in a booth. Would not have been my first pick. They do at least have plexiglass dividers between the booths. We asked for a bit more time to figure out our Lenten permitted meal and it seems like our waiter is MIA. The female bartender ended up taking our order, our waiter / bartender was busy making cocktails. They are a tag team covering the bar area tonight. Our Pellegrino water is in a red wine glass, that's a first. We ordered the salmon Caesar, less the Caesar dressing and croutons, Chilean seabass, sautéed mushrooms, spinach and garlic and double chopped salad, less pancetta, vinaigrette design instead, less cheddar and less crispy onions. The double chopped salad was split into two plates for us. The balsamic dressing is yummy, nice tartness to it. The julienned English cucumbers and celery are fun to eat. The hardboiled egg and celery is a nice addition to the usual chopped salad. The salmon Caesar had the Caesar dressing on it already. Had to get it replated with balsamic dressing. The spinach is extremely salty, salt lick salty, even. My Brazilian friends would love it. We asked them to make it without salt if needed. The blackened salmon is nicely cooked. The Chilean seabass is pretty good, it's well cooked, not as buttery as I would have liked. The skin is left on the seabass, looks like it would be great for healing wounds for diabetics and skin grafts for burn victims. I just looked it up and the only FDA approved fish on the market in the USA for healing wounds is the Icelandic cod. The second spinach is good, nice slivers of garlic and no salt or barely any, if at all. It's so much better for sure. The mushrooms are so lovely and absolutely fantastic. I wanted more. The Cremini mushrooms are cooked perfectly. The olive oil and seasoning is so yummy. Food was all good. Had a few fix-ups with the salmon Caesar and the spinach, but the meal overall was decent. Service was also okay. Not ideal to sit in the dining area of a bar section, since service can be hit or miss. If you sit in the bar, sit at the bar. If you sit in the dining room, sit away from the bar and in the main dining room. read more
