The facility is very nice inside and out back. The staff are friendly, but lacking any depth of wine knowledge. They are salespeople who know just the basics. The grapes are sourced from Texas, Washington, and New Mexico. All of the wine is bottled and aged locally. Their prices are reasonable and the quality is good. This winery was amazing! Customer service was fantastic. They have indoor and outdoor seating areas to enjoy wine(duh) and several charcuterie board options. We had a bit of a negative experience at Silver Dollar and were ecstatic to find friendly staff, highly welcoming and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the scenery, food and wine. Loved this place. Not just to look at from the highway, you just see a big warehouse. But out back is beautiful hill country pastures, a beautiful tasting room, outdoor games, donkeys, and some of the best Texas wine you can drink. My husband and I did a bit of "winery hopping" last weekend and this was my favorite stop. They have both great wine AND a great view (I felt like other places had just one of the two.) All the staff were friendly, inviting, and helpful, especially Curt (or maybe Kirk?). We talked his ear off asking ALL THE QUESTIONS about wine. He actually helped us better figure out how to pick a wine that we like before even trying it. Great spot and I hope to return soon. read more

Cute little spot right between Johnson City and Fredericksburg. Texas wine is of course, not the same as Napa or Sonoma, but their wines are still pretty good, though some are definitely better than others. My favorite that I had a tasting of (and then a glass) was a summery, light red called the Dolcetto. There is not much room to sit except for around the bar on the inside, but if it is a cooler day, I recommend hanging out on the porch which overlooks a yard with over a dozen beautiful oak trees. They also have little benches and hammocks if you want to be under the trees, but our winetender told us to be careful of chiggers and fire ants (advice which was heeded). PS- It's also just around the corner from Garrison Brothers, do yourself a favor and visit both on your trip to Hye! read more

I've been to Hye Meadow twice and will go back again. Both times I thought the staff was fun, and a bit saucy, and enjoyed their wine as well. And I'm not saying that because it was the third winery I tried that day. I really like their new tasking room. I went to Napa last spring and several of the tasting rooms there had a wall of windows so you cold drink wine with a beautiful view. This is the only winery in Texas I've seen do this. The view may not be Napa Valley but Texas Hill Country with a chilled Rose ain't so bad either. read more

Kathy and I have been members at Hye Meadow for several years. Owners Mike and Denise always make it a memorable experience seeing their smiles and hearing their friendly greetings. They are most supportive, as shown when they delivered wine club allotmentents to all members during the Covid lockdown. Their pig roast last year was awesome and we look forward to it again this year. Justin and Jessica are super friendly staff who are knowledgeable and always ready to answer any questions that we may have. Park like fun setting, unpretentious, with good to better than average wines, highlighting grapes currently from Texas High Planes and Washington state. Hye Meadow has been at the top of my list of new 290 wineries that I have wanted to try. The winery is located on sublime land predominantly surrounded by an oak meadow. They have built a modest fun modern tasting room that highlights the park like oasis behind it. The three different outdoor decks and multiple hanging tree swings invite you to quickly take your tasting outside. Pets are allowed with you outside, and you can bring your own food items to have with your wine for a lovely afternoon picnic. I loved that some of the tasting room walls are painted with chalkboard paint so you can release your creative chalk energies. The owners are passionate and friendly, serving up the tastings themselves behind the counter. The other staff were also nice and informative. The tasting fee for a flight is $10, which is waived (for 1 person) if you buy 2 bottles. We didn't get a chance to try everything, but from what we tasted they are off to a good start here. There was nothing horrid, the whites seemed stronger than the red's here. The white's were better than average, the Viognier was my favorite and a strong standout. One of my favorite Texan Viognier to date, tied with Hilmy. The few red's we tried were OK, it seemed as if they were just too young yet and were missing something (Sangiovese and Tempranillo). The one that I found was better than average was the Aglianico, it had some spice and was complex and full. The prices here are fairly similar with the other wineries on the 290 road. They also have some snacks you can purchase to eat as well. I am excited to taste future offerings from Hye. read more

We really enjoyed our visit to Hye Meadow Winery. It's relatively new and still in development, but our sommelier was friendly and knowledgeable, and VERY enthusiastic about their products. He told us a lot about every bottle we tasted as well as about the concept and development of the winery. It's quite rare for us to like every single bottle we taste at any one winery, but I'd have happily taken home a bottle of each from Hye Meadow. We bought a bottle to drink with the picnic lunch we brought out on the porch. It was a perfect afternoon (complete with a visit from a friendly doggie). The tasting is $10 for everything, quite reasonable, and the pour was generous. I'll definitely bring out of town visitors here, and I look forward to their release of big reds in December! read more

This is a great winery to add to your list of Hill Country Wineries! The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and really spent time giving you detailed answers to your questions. They were also a hoot! The tasting room is beautiful and minimalistic with a great patio and wide lawn - great for our little girl to sit in the grass while Dad and Mom enjoyed some hammock time :) At the time of our tasting they had great wines, more sweet whites than red (I usually prefer red) but it was a great tasting nonetheless! I got the Hye and dry listed and (while I love my wine dry) my companions enjoyed their tasting better. Heck, I enjoyed their tasting better. Great view of the flat hill country out back. Came out for the Wicked Wine 5K. The venue itself was pretty. The vineyard looks new as the grapevines were young. We weren't able to see the inside tasting room. The outside tasting areas were open. They had a great outdoor music venue with a live band playing. It would be a great place for a picnic blanket or folding chairs. Enjoy good wine, music, and family. The run itself was through the back part of the property and the end went through the vineyard area. Beautiful property with a lot trees and much needed shade. We got to try the Junkyard White (my favorite), Junkyard Red, and Hyejinks (my husbands favorite.) They had food trucks as well and it's my understanding they have live music and a food truck out every Saturday. read more

He was so personable and provided great service. We enjoyed their wines and purchased a host of things from them. Picturesque winery with ample room for tastings. The tasting room staff was pleasant but not overly friendly compared to some of the other wineries we visited. I'm also not a big fan of a single tasting fee erased after a purchase of 3 wines. It seems contrary to industry practice when you compare to other locations throughout the US. We found some wines we enjoyed and purchased a Texas Tempranillo and a New Mexico Petite Sirah. Overall we had a good visit just not something I would rush to tell everyone about. read more

I came here with a tour group. It was rather cold and kind of drizzling outside, and they were going to sit us outside for the tasting. We asked to get the heaters turned on, and they said "no". Don't know what the circumstances were, but they didn't elaborate. Luckily, our amazing tour guide convince them to at least let us go inside into the tasting room, so we wouldn't freeze our butts of outside. The staff was decidedly not friendly, and seemed annoyed that we were there. I asked for a piece of paper and pen multiple times (so I could take notes on the tasting), and eventually my friend just stole a post it for me from behind the bar. The sad thing is, there wine was delicious (though pricey), but the whole experience was soured by the owner and staff. We made a point to tell our guide that they shouldn't work with that winery anymore, since they were terrible to their customers. read more

We went to Hye Meadow Winery the day after Thanksgiving with a group of 6. It was very cold and windy so we moved one of the tables closer to the heater, but not closer to any people. A lady came running out yelling at us that "you can't go all willy nilly moving furniture around during COVID." So we asked if we could stay and sit closer to the heater since we were shivering outside and she agreed. BUT even though we paid for 6 tastings ... we had to ask repeatedly for each and every one. Once our table ordered a couple of charcuterie boards and multiple bottles of wine to take home they finally gave us our tastings. I can't remember the woman's name, but she had short blonde hair and was extremely rude. We would not return. read more

This is my second birthday spent her but I've also planned birthdays for friends here. Every time I'm extremely disappointed with the attitude of the staff. I come here not so much for the wine since there's so many wineries on highway 290 with same caliber wines. I choose to come here over other wineries because of their location and views but I'm not sure it's enough reason to come back anymore because the staff here are so unfriendly. This is Texas y'all. Where's your Texas hospitality? I came with a group of 12 friends. I set up a huge table for our food and instruct everyone to buy bottles to share. Every time we come we usually end up buying 1 1/2 to 2 cases of wine. Not once ever does anyone from the staff come out to check on us. Not once ever are they accommodating or ask if we need anything or how's the wine etc. I'll be taking my business elsewhere from now on. With so many wineries to choose from, I would rather support businesses with professional and friendly owners/staff. read more

Sadly we were not impressed. We came on a Sunday late afternoon, and they were not busy in the tasting room. We couldn't get anyone's attention. Two employees were eating bread and cheese and talking instead of offering to help. Finally one of them came by still chewing, so my husband had to greet him. The property and the back of the vineyard are lovely and child friendly. It's unfortunate the service was terrible. Upon entering a second time to purchase a nonalcoholic drink, we waited in a semi empty tasting room for help. Several employees passed by us with no offer of help. It's a shame as we had heard good things about Hye. We ended up at our old staple William Chris. read more
